Kid-friendly pizza chain known for crust choices & Mexican-inspired pies plus oversized sundaes.
I was friends with the original owner of this company. The young man that took my order this evening was extremely unfriendly. This pizza was expensive and this guy didnt even say thank you. WRONG guy to answer the phone. Love their pizza but guys like this wreck their business. Probably why Maquoketa and Davenport are currently going through chapter 11. The help you get today has no work ethic. Sorry. Call em like I see em. How sad
Hands down the best pizza around!!!
Best pizza in town. The taco pizza and the Special are the two signatures. They also offer pints of ice cream for carry out and delivery.
Ordered by phone for carry out. Pizza was hot and delicious. Also ordered a dessert pizza. Was disappointed in the dessert pizza; it was very small, the icing ran off the pizza and was on the bottom of the crust on the box and it was over priced.
Always great pizza and even pretty quick. A little pricey but perfection isnt cheap.
My husband cannot resist a Happy Joe’s Special, which is Canadian bacon and sauerkraut. Really!
Always great taco pizza or any of your other favorites
Just passing through town decided to give happy joes a try absolutely amazing i mean amazing pizza and service I am 50 yrs old and have ate alot of pizza I love pizza and I would have to rank this place in the top two of best pizza I have ever ate if I lived here I would eat here every day thank you guys so much for putting out an amazing pizza keep up the great work
Taco pizza that cant be beat! Its the best!
Great pizza! DUBUQUE CLASSIC!
We really miss the pizza dont have one around here
On Thursday may 19th between 2 and 3pm. It would be all on camera I ordered a pizza for pick up when I entered the store I noticed a few people at a table which 1 cleared his throat teminating me and making me in un comfortable to be in the store. I was being very respectful and causing no trouble at all this subject got up and went behind the counter stating something about century drive happy joes. All’s I wanted was my pizza and to get going the female person that was with demanded I apologize to a family member long time ago. When i got outside and I was leaving I was asked not to come back I did nothing wrong and I’m tired of these rumors there’s no truth to them and that’s the only reason I got treated disrespectfully plain and simple. I did file a complaint no response imagine that no response no respect for human life anymore. I’m harmless and did nothing are family has done plenty of buisness with happy joes sad very sad. Get the truth before judging those 2 subjects had no right. Bruce
BLT means cooked food not just throw dome raw met on pizza...
Happy Joes is a regional pizza staple, and theyre strong in Dubuque. The pizza isnt the cheapest in town but the quality seems to be consistently good. For us, its not a regular choice, but a nice alternative for a change.
Ive ordered from Happy Joes forever - they do not have an area on their website that I can leave a comment. This was the 1st pizza Ive gotten from them that was burnt on the bottom!! Would rather just tell them than leave review
@a friends place not 🍕 ended up going over for a slice, always satisfied.
We enjoy the Taco Supreme pizza. Well worth the price!
This location did not offer dine inMore for order to go...the workers were very nice to us ...
Primo pizza. Its our family choice... all the time. This location of Happy Joes is exceptional.
Im giving this 2 out of five stars due to the fact the pizza was burnt, had to wait an hour, the sauce was opened, the pizza was deformed same with the bread sticks. But on the bright side however, the guy was nice.
Extreme delicious always a lon g wait at less 1 hr or more. dont like how high the pizza has got but to the point is worth it
Just like any happy joes the pizza is amazing. The staff is awesome as well and always friendly. Ive never had any complaints about the pizza they make I would recommend them to anybody who is a pizza lover!
This place needs neither accommodations nor recognition from me. Its pizza people and this place has been doing it right for as long as I can remember. Keep up the good work guys and girls!!! King pizza around here as far as Im concerned.
The food was okay Im a little bummed that we could sit there for 30 minutes and wait for a pizza but we couldnt eat there my sons pizza was done perfectly mine with still a little raw and the cheese barely melted
Well I have to say I’m disappointed. I wanted to have one of their pizzas before I go south for the winter. Didn’t order anything fancy. Med pie with pep, sausage, and mushrooms. I asked for an order of “wings” garlic parm and got nuggets instead. They were so salty they were inedible. Too much sauce on the pizza also. So bummed coz it will be the last time I’ll ever get to have one.
If I was on death row taco and blt pizza from happy joes would be my last meal. Thats how awesome this pizza is no joke. Chicago and New York cant make this good of pizza!
Stopped from out of town. Wanted to dine in. Got there and no other customers in the dinning area. Seated ourselves. 3 employees standing behind the counter. 2 chatting with each other. Finally approached by an employee and told they are not doing dine in due to staffing shortage. Oh.. ridiculous waste of time.
Website clearly stated to call the store when you arrive for pick up and when I called, I guess that was a weird thing to do. Went in to get my order and some employees were not wearing masks or had them half on. Will not be returning to this location.
literally an awesome place to work, laid back very friendly staff they hold you accountable for mistakes on pizzas or cooking time, perfect job for somebody in need of a few bucks or high schoolers
Happy Joes has delivered for work a few times. Pizzas are always hot and well made. Plentiful toppings, good sauce. Best chain restaurant pizza for sure!!!
So happy to be back in Iowa after leaving in 1981....always loved Happy Joes, did not disappoint after being gone some 35 years. My kids loved it too. Be back soon!
Love to eat at Happy Joe Pizza at Arnold Park , Iowa ( Lake Okoboji area then the last time that I ate there was maybe 1985s then moved aroumd and lived in other 2 states then Here I am back to Dubuque to settle down and just ordered my meals ! Aaww man ! Been a long long time to return of my favorite pizza ! So glad that Happy Jie still in business !
My order was quoted 45 minutes. I waited an hour. We called, they said "I dont see the receipt, so the delivery driver must be out now". We said, okay thanks. Waited another hour, called back. Said, "we waited for another hour, wheres our order". Looks like it wasnt made or put in the oven. Really?? Asked for a refund, 5 to 7 business days. Thats wrong dude. Never ordering here again. The other location is better about it than this location.
Great food! But for a place called Happy Joes the guys taking orders on the phone have the worst personalities. And after reading the reviews I can see its not just me. Guy has the personality of a dead moth.
Ordered for delivery. The pizza was great! However, we ordered a dessert pizza. They were out of dessert pizza so they offered us cinnamon bread sticks. Ya okay.Yall we got breadsticks covered in icing. Chopped up breadsticks. Smothered in icing.
Happy Joe’s has always been known for great pizza in the tri-state area. We’ve been ordering from them for years and years. Yesterday, was the first time that we had a mishap on an order. It was only on half of the pizza, but within minutes they were back at the door with a free pizza in hand without any action on our part. Great pizza, even better customer service!
This store has the best pizza by far. The waiters were polite and were always near by ready to help. I order almost all the time and everything I ask for is always there. If I could I would have given 20 stars. I definitely recommend.
Ordered 3 pizzas, was about 90 with tip. They dont offer sauce for taco pizzas unless you ask for it.. all 3 pizzas werent cut well at all had to tear them apart. Youd think for 77 dollars in pizza ordered theyd produce more than a lousy 5 dollar credit for their super expensive pizza. They dont care about customer service just the money they make apparently...and we talked to the owner..sad.....gave 2 stars due to good taste of pizza.
I have & will always LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Happy Joes! We pick up from this location & if we want to dine in we go to Century Dr, both are wonderful food & service! I cant get enough of their pizza. They are a bit pricey for pizza, so we dont get it as often as I would like, but Im never disappointed when we do!!
The best taco pizza ever! Hands down! With great fast service makes Happy Joes University Ave an awesome place to dine in or eat out. Thank you
Not impressed with the service. We ordered 3 pizzas they gave us 2 and the 3rd one was delivered to the other table. So the kids had to wait 15 minutes to eat while the grown ups were eating theirs. The guys working didnt seem to care and didnt think it was a big deal. Which was aggravating enough.I think the fact that the tables arent handed numbers for their orders is a bit confusing for the guys delivering the pizza to the tables.
Happy Joes has great pizza, but would suggest not getting it in Dubuque. There facilities are disgusting. There is mold everywhere and they let the kitchen staff eat the ingredients while making your food.
This location has the absolute worst customer service. I placed an order with these guys on University, and upon arriving nearly and hour later, my pizza wasnt made the way I paid for it, and when I opened my bread sticks the red dipping sauce was busted all over them, and the bread sticks were just gross. I called and spoke with the manager on duty who just happened to be one of the owners, and he was the most disrespectful man I may have ever spoken to. When I told him that my pizza had toppings on it that I couldnt have due to health issues, he told me that I must have not told them that I did not want those particular toppings and blammed me for their mistakes, and then he told me that I must have sqeezed my bread stick bag too tightly and busted the sauce inside of the bag. I have never had anyone in customer service speak to me so rudely. My family and I will never do business with these guys again. This is supposed to be a kid friendly menue, but the way he spoke to me, there is no way anyone should take their children to a place that speaks to their customers the way he spoke to me. It is definitely NOT a friendly atmosphere, let alone a kid friendly atmosphere.
Service was great, prices were even better. You order and then sit at your table, old school style pizza house, so great. Boys loved the deep dish spaghetti pizza, we had a taco pizza...a must try! Even had old fashioned ice cream drumsticks, a perfect end to a busy weekend of skiing.
Ordered a Pizza for delivery online. Allowing to include a driver tip while ordering online is an awesome feature! The Pizza showed up within the time frame suggested when we ordered. It was fresh, tasty and the crust was perfect. The overall pizza and ordering experience was 5 Star. This is why Happy Joes wins my vote every year for Best Fest!
Very friendly greeted us the minute we walked in the door. Fun to watch them top the pizzas. Explained specials right off the bat and showed us where to find them on menu. Come around to make sure everything was fine and to refill drinks.
The pizza is pretty good. It is expensive though. The restaurant behind the mall is outdated and always seems crowded. The tables are too close together and some are crammed into corners or near games. Still, it is a favourite around town. The one on University is better and is mostly takeout.
Cannot go wrong with Happy Joes. Great for parties and worth the cost. I love the Taco and Sausage but everything is pretty good. Great crust and weight. Always grab a slice when in town (they dont sell by the slice but should!)
Couldnt get past the guy on the phone. Pulling teeth to get him to tell me how much a one topping is. Never did find out. The lady at Caseys was really nice though. Happy Joes is awesome, but my business will not return to this location.
I dont know, Im always looking for healthy alternatives, so I was initially happy to learn that Happy Joes had "multi-grain" crust. As it turned out their crust was no where near being multi-grain. It is possible to have healthier pizzas, I wish the chains would work harder to move in that direction.
