Hamborgarafabrikkan in Akureyri

We went here after a great experience in the Hamborgarafabrikkan Reykjavik. Unfortunately the restaurant in Akureyri was not as good. Here the portions (BBQ ribswere smaller and more expensive.

The burger was perfect, the salad was a little spicy (not too much for me, would still be good to know)You can order digitally via tablets, but my reason to deduct one star is that we changed our fries to salad for “0kr” while ordering which in the end turned out to cost around 300kr more than with fries.Otherwise the prices seemed fair.Music might be a little loud for some people, not a problem for me personally.Also: don’t forget to order your water - it doesn’t cost anything (this time for realbut you don’t get any “by default” like in other restaurants in Iceland.

Overall it felt like a chain-restaurant catering to cruise-ship tourists.Very friendly service, and very fast food delivery after ordering. The vegan menu was a bonus for one member of our group.We ordered the chicken tenderloins (nuggets), 2 burgers, and a pizza.The flavors and textures of the food was like an generic American chain-restaurant (TGI Fridays or Applebees). The bacon on one burger was tough and dry, as if sitting out all day. The chicken nuggets were heavily breaded and the breading was hard in spots and the sauce on chicken was overly sweet and candy-like.

Great for convenience in the mornings with their hours when nothing else is open

I had The Maestro - best burger Ive had in Iceland. So good I forgot to get a pic because I ate it so fast.

No frills, good burgers. Good place if in the Akureyri area and looking for a quick, good bite.

Easy to order your meals from a tablet at the table. Excellent burger.

We were sat at a table and given menus but waited for 30 minutes without any waitstaff even acknowledging our existence before walking out. Didnt even get any water!

The hamburgers are better than the pizzas

This place is exactly what you want in a good burger joint! Great burgers, fast and attentive service and comfortable atmosphere.

The resturant also houses the black box pizza resturant. The staff were so kind and stayed 10minutes late from closing to make me a pizza at the end of the working day. Pizza itself was very good with many types to please all tastes.

Lamb burger was good. Vegetarian option (oomphnot so much. Price is high for what you get.

Pizza ingredients self-selected, very tasty, also the beer. You order via an iPad, but the waitress asks how it tastes. Everything goes very quickly. However, it was also very empty. To recommend.

Plenty of vegan options and the portion sizes were very generous!

Worst service on our 2 weeks trip around Iceland: It took them 35 Minutes to take our order: Two parties that came later could order earlier and got a carafe of water and glasses. After 45 minutes and asking the waitress again we got at least one glass of iced water. I was told that they have light beer only in bottles and not on draft, then the waitress came back to say they only have it on draft, the bottles were finished. Nevertheless, she charged me the higher bottle price. The food was close to okay, but I would never ever go there again. I only gave 1 star because one cannot give zero stars.

I will be honest: Hamborgarafabrikkan has not always been my favorite.Our visit in Akureyri, however, was great. Great tap beer, excellent burger (made with ribeye meat), good kids’ options. Also, pizzas are made with sour dough, gluten-free, or cauliflower.There are many other options: cocktails, shakes, and appetizers.There are always specials, especially during lunch and there is consistently one pizza on special for 2.000 kr.

The food? Great! The service? Lacking, to say the least.When we first entered, the place seemed cozy, there was a sign at the entrance asking you to wait for a waitress to assign you a seat, nothing new. The staff saw us from somewhere back in the restaurant and continued to talk to each other before attending to us about 5 minutes later.The waitress showed us to our table and handed us this cool tablet on which you could order your drinks and food, even gave you all the options to customise your order. No mushrooms on your burger? No problem! Want to change anything about your milkshake? You can! Extra sauce for the fries? You got it! Nothing could go wrong here, or so we thought.First off, the tablet is incomplete. You can order drinks, but if you want to order a cocktail you’ll first have to call for a waitress in the hope she can give you a cocktail menu. There was this folder on the table which showed haagen dazs ice cream, we actually wanted to add that to our cart for dessert, alas, it was nowhere to be found on the tablet.At the end of the meal, we hoped we could pay for dinner with this advanced tablet, since it knew exactly what we had ordered so far. Sadly, this options doesn’t exist either, you’ll still have to pay at the register, and wait in line if it’s crowded.If you can’t keep the tablets up to date, , don’t use the tablets.After ordering the staff forgot one of the sauces we ordered for the plate of fries. We had a burger that should have some guacamole included, but wasn’t there. The burger with trufflemayo was supposed to have a truffle seasoning on the fries, not even close. We had a kids meal, which on the menu as well as on the image has cucumber sticks, well guess what missed in the meal?After our (still amazing tastingmeal it had gotten quite late, few minutes to 10, which is closing time. The tablet was still on and we wanted a special “hamburger muffin” with one last cup of coffee before returning to the hotel. As soon as the waitress saw we were looking at the tablet she informed us that the kitchen had already closed down. No notice beforehand saying “kitchen is closing soon, if you’d still like a dessert, order it now” even though we were only one of the three tables occupied at that point. When making a remark about this at checkout we got a “that is strange” as a response, with eyes screaming “if only I could care”.The staff in general seemed displeased and disinterested with their jobs, I believe we’ve encountered 4 different waitresses during this visit, and not one seemed to be able to smile.I would like to reiterate, the food, although not always what was promised, tasted absolutely amazing. I highly recommend people to try this place and treat themselves to this delicious hamburger tent. There was a plethora of options, for all kind of dietary preferences, and I bet it all is as tasty as everyone says. The staff however, definitely needs improvement.

We wanted a dinner place that we knew our kids would like and this seemed to fit the bill. We ordered some nachos to start which were good. Then for our main dishes had burgers and some buffalo wings. Everything tasted great and we got ample amounts of fries with everything. We would go back.

Pretty pricey but thats almost everything in Iceland if you come from continental Europe. A ton of choice, maybe too much since I spent way to long staring at the menu. But I was blessed with the best Burger I had here in Iceland, called "The Captain" on the menu.My friend ordered a pulled pork sandwich, which wasnt all that great instead. Dont recommend then.But have a go with the appetisers, great and they come with a fair assortment of dips.

Had square hamburgers with Icelandic beef, great taste!Added an egg on top, made it even smooth in texture.

The food wasn´t fresh (especially the bread and the heated in microwave cake), the waiting time was too high in comparison that we were one of only few guests, it looked like they were really saving on what they putting on the burgers and the price to high for what we got. The waiters are the reason for at least 3 stars.

It was super busy and we had to wait a little while, but nothing we werent expecting. The waitress that took our payment gave us a 30% discount without us asking or complaining. Totally recommend this place, as well as having good food.

Over rated. A few table occupied but had to wait to long for the burgers. Fries were to cold, the bun cold and the burger pink. Was told all the burgers are serced medium rear if not otherwise statet in the menu. Waitress was helpful and tok the meat and fried it some more. How ever, the price does not reflect the food. Will not wisit again.

Great food, the hamburgers are delightful! Service could be better, our waitress forgot about us for an hour, we had to get up and call someone to come over so we could order dessert, and even after we did it took 15 minutes! And she forgot to bring my drink. But, again, the food is well worth it!

The best! Amazing.Restaurant has vegan options, not few options. It is so amazing that ALL burgers can be changed to vegan option. That means all item in the menu can be vegan.order BBQ and cheese burger with vegan options. The vegan “meat” feels like chicken. The BBQ source is delicious, the flies and salad are also perfect.Iced coke with cola cola glass feels so good. Overall is not expensive.I never see a normal restaurant so vegan friendly.Highly recommended.

The staff is a bit shy and young. Perhaps a bit immature, and not that helpful. (we didnt get cutlery and napkins, and condiments). We also sat waiting for the bill.Nobody checked on us during the meal. Staff was talking and eating in the background. Was hard to get their attention. Put a damper on otherwise good food.There was a generous amount of food. The fries were good too.

OK, Im a burger-loving American that lives abroad and this was like an Icelandic Red Robin... Sooo "yummmmm! " We went back a second time because I missed out on the Reeses shake the first. I also highly recommend reading through the menu, because there are fun stories included.However, Americans - the burgers are served medium, if you want it fullu done tell the waiter (yummy either way).

Worst restaurant on our trip through Iceland. Service super bored. We have never seen such a dirty restaurant. A case for the health department. Try to avoid this restaurant!!

Great burgers with the option to remove meat and make vegetarian for most items on menu.

Stopped here for dinner on our first night in Akureyri. I was happy to see plentiful vegan options on the menu for such a meat-centric eatery. My wife loved her burger, and I loved my vegan burger. I also ordered one of the local beers they had. Our server was friendly and spoke excellent English. It was a busy night, but she treated us well. Very happy with our visit.

Delicious burgers that are well-priced (relative to normal Icelandic prices). Servers spoke English and provided English menus, which were a big plus. Would totally recommend coming here if you get the chance!

Very nice burger place. We arrived at 20.00 and needed to wait 5 minutes for a table. The place itself is big but not noisy. Menu was in english and nice designed.The food is great, tasty fries and a really nice burger. Of course it depends on your personal preference but I personally liked it.You need to pay at the entrance (dont wait for service :))

Best place to eat in akureyri. I had the animal park burger and the factory skyr cake both delicious.

I ordered the lamb burger and it was delicious. There was a lot of sauce so it was messy to eat. Also got the oreo skyr which was yummy yummy.
