Halong Vietnamese Restaurant - Vietnamese restaurant in Waitakere, New Zealand
Very good communication with the waiter about the menu, personal service since it wasnt too busy. Ordered Lemon grass chicken on rice. Seemed as though it was cooked earlier since it came very quickly. Was a bit dry and too much rice. Entrees were ok generally.Best part was Lychee Nectar, icy cold and very refreshing. Good service but very average food.
Very nice and genuine Vietnamese food. Service is friendly and very fast too 👌🏽
I barely remember going here cause it was such a long time ago but the food was so delicious and affordable! Id go back in a heartbeat!
Slipped and fell No staff bothered to come to my assistance to see if i was ok ended up with badly bruised knee
My dish was a disappointment..porkchopvermicelli..😧 and prices have gone up.Need to update pictures on menu with its current pricing. Ta.
Tastiest Vietnamese thats packed with value. My staple is the pork chop and rice
Service and restroom facilities are below average but they do have the best Pho in the West.
Our go to place for Vietnamese cuisine.Real nice kai mmm.
Tried this place today the wife been raving about. I got the lemon grass chicken on rice and spring rolls. Ordering was easy, we took a seat and our food was ready within 5 minutes. Best Vietnamese food Ive ever eaten no compromise on quality here. Very much worth every dollar
They are too greedy, add up the price every half year, 18.5 for one noodle , I go Lynn mall Just 13.9 and is great too
Great service - great food - quick service. We’ve visited here a few times and have always had consistent good service and good food. One of our favourite places to eat
What I ordered was not worth $20,. It was dry and container was not full.
My go to is rice noodle with lemon chicken soup and shrimp on rice.
Fantastic, food feels like home cooked. Staff were nice and super efficient. I highly recommend this place. Food was just fascinating. The sauces that you can put on your meal and the flavourful food. This is a great restaurant.God bless
Not worth the $$ anymore, youre better off going across the road to maccas, youll get more bang for ya buck. Its the price spike for me guys
Great food and prices, definitely recommend!
Great eatery place. Generous portions and very affordable. Spacious and child/ family friendly. A relaxed and casual atmosphere - great place to come for lunch and casual dinners with friends
Still the best pork chops Ive had, pitty that its takeaway only due to coivd though. But great food regardless.
Had to wait 30mins for one meal and had 2 orders after me of 5 meals and and a family. No apology or sorry for the wait.. just the expectation that it was ok I guess. Terrible customer service in this instance.
We have been coming here for years, at least twice a month. Today we ordered some takeaways and I wonder if they have different staff? My wonton soup was lacking, the wontons were not seasoned and SUPER dry, loaded with old lettuce leaves. Why lettuce leaves? No bok choy? The chicken curry had a different taste and A LOT of bones, very crushed bones. We also had very soggy spring rolls with more brown lettuce. We will try again one more time and if the same standard sadly you have lose a loyal customer.
One of my favorite Vietnamese places to eat at. Didnt have to wait long for my food and the staff was fast and efficient. Always enjoy eating in here.
Lemon Grass Vermicelli was yum. Probably one of the best in town. However, the pho was disappointing, lacking of umami on the broth. Service was quick.
This is a very popular place. You need to get in early or stand on line. Never been inside, however, people come outside with boxes of meals and the sit down area is busy. I heard from friends the meals are delicious. I plan to go there to satisfy my curiosity.
We love❤the spring rolls and there lemongrass chicken dish 🤤Ive had 2 pork dishes from halong and they werent that great pork was abit dry but other than that 10/10👍👌
Good honest Vietnamese food. Reasonably priced and a great variety 👌🏾
As you can see I love Asian cuisine. Found this cozy little vietnamese restaurant in New Lynn. Food servings are quite big. Little on the pricey side for me but well worth what you pay for the serving sizes. Friendly staff, this is definitely been the spot of choice for the month for A and I. Happy eating.
Friendly service value for money meals. We went for a lunch date but this would definitely be a good spot for a casual family meal. Lots of parking nearby. We had crispy pork, rice, chicken curry and some wonton and were served very quickly even though the place was quite busy.
Very bland and tasteless food. Also very inauthentic and tastes like a cheap Chinese-viet fusion. They use the cheapest ingredients and although it was a good serving and the staff were nice, my overall experience was pretty terrible. I even found a hair in my noodles, clearly not my own hair. Would not recommend
been here a couple times and the beef pho was all good, but got it today and they gave me the wrong noodles and then refused that they were the wrong noodles, and the beef tasted like it had gone off. my partner also got a stir fry noodle dish and had a hair in his food, servers were nice but don’t think i’ll be back again.
I have rated the food. Yummy but the service was average. No smile and no one came to attend to our request. We had to keep putting our hands up several times. Otherwise this place is clean and not packed but the food came out fast and was lovely and hot.
This place used to be good ,Gone down the hill lately, the stir fry beef on rice was mean portion, beef slices so thin and cheapMeat, lack ofFlavor and very oily taste like Chinese food noWay near Vietnamese taste. The new waitress look Depress she messed up our order and not saying a word when she delivered the food.Never go there again.
One of my favorite places to eat, good food, tasty, good serving size. Had lunch there with family often for these past few years and would recommend this restaurant. Great service from the people who work there.
Most inauthentic Vietnamese Pho i have ever eaten! Fresh rice paper rolls are made with thick noodles and not vermicelli which i never saw anywhere...I asked if they have any fresh juice and the reply was "fresh juices will be about 10-12$ you wouldnt get for $6.50 😳 and the second explanation was even TANK uses tinned stuff not everything is fresh 🙄 where a simple NO would have been fine.Forget about juices none of the food (mains costing $16.5 eachis good, worse than takeaways. We left the food 😞
Great spot, thought wed give it a go as had been here in such a long time, didnt disappoint. Definitely get the lemongrass chicken it is so delicious, fast service & friendly staff
Favorites for my family are lemon grass chicken on rice & soup options, most of the entrée menu, beef stew on rice & soup, pig trotters on rice & roast pork on rice. Fast service, good customer service, fresh food & yummy dish options. Reasonable prices for the portion of food you get.
I’ve been coming here since they first opened and I keep coming back even though I don’t live out west anymore. Don’t really care about the authenticity as it’s just good, simple, comfort food. The prices are fantastic and the portions are very generous. My go-to dish is the lemongrass chicken and pork chop on rice. Add some of their light and crispy fried wontons and you’ve got a great meal for around $20. They also allow BYO. Highly recommended cheap eat.
I like the food. Service is okay and fast. they have many range of Vietnamese and Chinese food. I normally order Lemongrass chicken and pork in vermicelli or Lemongrass pork in rice noodle soup. The soup is so tasty, pork/chicken is nice, tender not dry. Overall this place is good value for taste and money.
Whenever you are looking for a light meal, here is the place you would have to come.Big selection of menuReasonable priceYummy as it should be
The food was so great!! First time iv had vietnamese, its full if flavour but really light.. The prices are reasonable and it was busy when we arrived, so its quite popular.. affordable and great.. definitely coming back here again to eat
Nicely located, an authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Quick service. Good for smaller and bigger groups.Restaurant is neat and tidy.
Lacking flavor in the broth. Just look at it. Missing several crucial ingredients to make it an authentic vietnamese dish - im sure you can tell straight away.
Food was served very quickly after ordering. Can choose your style noodles (rice, egg, vermicelliwith the dishes. Like most Asian restaurant add your own chilli etc. If you want drinks it is self service from the fridge.Overall the food tasted good and portions were generous and priced not too bad Even if not authentic Vietnamese. I would visit again
Seriously delicious and yet reasonably price food. It has become my regular on a Tuesday night and they have never seemed to dissapoint. My go to dish would have to be the lemongrass chicken on rice, and then the soup version of that. It does get quite busy, but its a large space, so theres often a table available.
One of my favorite places to eat. This place is usually pretty packed but the restaurant is big enough to accommodate a lot of customers. Despite the tables and chairs looking a bit aged, the place is kept nice and clean, ready for the next customers. The restaurant staff are usually genuine, friendly and accommodating. The food is fresh and tasty. Definitely a hidden gem in New Lynn. Very much recommended.
Best in the west I reckon in terms of Vietnamese food. Prices have gone up a fair bit since I last came here but the food is still top quality. Great service and wait times and can customise your meals for you. Will eat here again.
Definitely not authentic Vietnamese I must say. But if you are looking for a fusion of Vietnamese and Chinese food, it’s pretty good. The restaurant is spacious and clean, I like the relax atmosphere and the fast service. The beef noodle “phở” has a very similar taste compared to authentic one, if you would like to try some authentic Vietnamese here.
Our weekly break from cooking.Very tasty food, very fast service (we typically have our food within 5min of ordering). The restaurant is very plain, with only the basics, but the price is right and the food is good. Our only complaint is that one of the male servers is often listening to stuff on his wireless Apple headphone, and we are not sure whether his English is bad or if he is just distracted. Not a good look regardless.
Really a good taste vietnamese food with affordable price. For asian people maybe can share together because its portion a little bit large for one people :).
Stopped by for a late dinner and had the pork chops and the special beef egg noodle soup. The pork chop was nice and crisp and had nice flavour. It was quite disappointing that the beef noodle soup wasnt the same. The soup was quite bland and the noodles a bit overcooked and soft. The beef and beef balls were ok.Service was quite good and the meals came out really fast. I was also quite surprised how busy they were considering it was a Tuesday evening. A nice place for a cheap meal but it may be hit and miss.
Ive been to this place more than 10 times, not once I was disappointed. Fast service, quality food, and generous serving, and affordable price. Over the years their price increase wasnt so bad, but I did notice the proportion of the meal decreased a bit, although the quality is the same. It is not a 5-star dining, ambiance is just above average, parking can challenging during peak hours. Staff are generally courteous, and well groomed.
