Halfmoon Reef Lighthouse - Tourist attraction in Port Lavaca, United States
Halfmoon Reef Lighthouse in Port Lavaca
Description
Privilege
Once again, a pretty neat place to visit if youre in the area. Wouldve been nice to be able to go inside.
MoreThis lighthouse is a defunct device. It was moved to its current location, before the Bauer Event Center at Port Lavaca, Texas, and is closed to the public. Its in very good shape and unobstructed photos taken of it. Its a five minute visit. The Chamber of Commerce is right next to it, so you can grab a handful of brochures to see whats available in town.
MoreLoved finding the geocache and learning about the history.
Cute little lighthouse. Not locatedon a beach as it has been moved.
Like historic value but really not much to see especially since everything still closed due to covid
MoreIf you are into these things. I am. Appreciate the community involvement.
Nice view.
History is always 5 stars. Pretty nice stop and quite a unique lighthouse.
Just went there to vote
Love lighthouses....
Was not open when we were there
Could not go in to see anything inside the building. Disappointing
Im so glad this little lighthouse was salvaged and brought ashore for us to enjoy! I timed my visit well - the friendly groundskeeper at the Bauer Community Center next door let me inside the lighthouse and gave me a little tour (its not a big structure). If you are feeling adventurous, hell take you up the ladder to the lantern room (no lens in there anymore). If you arrive during regular hours and find the place locked, pop in to the Chamber office in the big building and theyll have it opened for you. They also have the stamp for the USLHS Passport, if you collect those.
MoreIf your into lighthouses this one is ok..smaller than most
Lawn needs some tlc
El lugar tiene vista al mar, es muy amplio, los baños muy limpios y con mucha capacidad de estacionamiento. Para mí lo único que falta es darle vida a los jardines y estaría perfecto.
MoreI was really looking forward to coming here and seeing another lighthouse other then the one I work at back in penacola we looked up where to go and it said go to the center to gain entrance but when we got there their was no one in the center I got some pictures but I would have liked to talk to someone and get more information it was a little bit of a let down.
MoreI went to check on the boat ramp, working but in bad shape
Enjoyed reading history plaques. Very well maintained.
Great fresh air! Very nice view!
Great scene to visit
Nice historical lighthouse and markers.
Nice little piece of local history
Big whoop.
So cool to know its history and such a beautiful lighthouse, located right near our man made beach!
MoreHistorical Half Moon Lighthouse was originally located in Matagorda Bay and has some interesting stories lodged in its structure. If the door is open be sure to look inside. We once snuck to the top but that is not advised. #preservehistory
MoreA little disappointing.
It was open when we went and we were able to walk through the rooms.
