Hal's Hamburgers - Fast food restaurant in Pendleton, United States
I give 5 stars as they are usually spot on with orders, but this time our order was wrong but didnt notice until we got home. It was still tasty.
Probably the best hamburger and onion rings I’ve had in 20 years. The staff is so so friendly and helpful. The wait wasn’t bad for us, but if I had to wait a little longer I definitely would. This is where we eat when we pass through Pendleton. Seriously don’t miss the onion rings! 🖤
Hals Hamburgers is a very old place and needs remodel or complete upgrade. Is extremely busy at times and waiting for your order sometimes takes too long.
Great old school drive in...always stop when we get to Pendleton! Burgers were great as were the onion rings and milk shake.
Love this place. Great food . Amazing shake s. Family friendly.
This place is a gem. We stopped in on our way to the Wallowas on a hot, windy day with two dogs who needed to get out. Once we figured out how to order (it’s a unique setup, just roll with it!we all sat in the outdoor dining area, complete with some refreshing misters. The food took a few minutes to arrive (it may be burgers, but it’s not fast foodand it was exceptional. The burgers were large, well-prepared, and tasty. Perfect burgers, great location, and a friendly staff…we look forward to visiting again!
The staff is always so friendly and the food is absolutely amazing. Definitely recommend trying them out
Really fantastic service and even better food! Love their milk shakes also!!
Great food and excellent service. Pet friendly.
This place was amazing!!! The burgers are out of this world. Seriously people.
Yummy food and ice cold drinks and nice hot food n great service n
Love Hals! My favorite hamburger spot in town. Best fries and shakes! Hals has many flavors of shakes. If you can think of a flavor, Im sure they have it. Recently tried their Tot poppers and they were delicious. Give them a try, they wont disappoint
Had so much potential but definitely a swing and miss. We waited over an hour for our food. Multiple mistakes on our order and the service was absolutely terrible!
Burgers taste like the burgers back in the fifties and sixties. I really miss that. Very good! Thank you!
I had good memories of this place from when I was growing up in the area and decided to stop by on my way through town. It took around 15 minutes for my food to come out and when it did, the bacon cheeseburger didn’t have any toppings or sauce, I didn’t get the ketchup I requested with my fries (which tasted fishy - like they had been fried in the same oil as fishand the chocolate shake was mediocre at best. The person who took my order was super nice and I wanted to like Hal’s, but the food was not worth the price or time it took and I won’t be returning.
When you travel through Pendelton Oregon, Hals Hamburgers is a must stop. Been open forever and their food is top notch. If it is lunch or dinner time, there will be a long line but its definitely worth the wait. They make party.melts even though its not on the menu.
Only burger I’ll eat in town. Attention to detail, quality service and product. A little pricey but im too hungry to care.
Phenomenal food and always nice people. You may be there a while but the food is certainly worth it. If you’ve ever been to Nel’s over in La Grande, this is up there with it. Good prices, good people, good food (their milkshakes are to die for!)
Stopped here during a road trip last year because it had a ton of cars. Turned out to be one of the best burgers & shakes weve ever had. Just found the name going through credit card receipts and have tagged it as a favorite on Google Maps. Looking forward to another visit.
This is a nice little drive-thru burger place. However, if you want to walk up and dine here, you can do that as well. The food was good and the prices were good as well. I would definitely go back!
I’ve had the food before and it’s pretty good, but there was a woman working the evening of 8/11 wearing a pink shirt who was extremely rude for no reason. I have no idea what her problem was but I won’t be going back. I’m not dealing with that as a paying customer.
Food was fresh and delicious. The staff was kind. Will go back again. Yum! Real 1950s diner style burgers.
Fantastic service, great burgers, and tots. A great detour during a road trip, especially if you love old signs, historic drive ins, and good food. (get your burger with the angry sauce if you like spice)
Round of applause for our Hals employees continuing to bring us the best food...in this heat. Its 106 out side. ( per TWC)
Classic burger joint with spot on burgers, shakes and onion rings. Staff is friendly and service is genuine. Family loved this vintage drive-in.
Ordered Bacon Burger! Was excellent! Large burger and fresh toppings! Ordered large Tater Tot! Huge and more than enough for 2 people! Worth the wait! Well be back!
Food and prices are great. Service lacks a bit. I am to leave a tip prior to getting my items. Then I get my items and have milkshake batter running down the outside of my cup, my hands get sticky, then my steering wheel, etc... I WILL NEVER LEAVE ANOTHER ADVANCE TIP SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE!
Burgers were juicy and tasty but sad no chili for a chili dog fries were crispy and well salted. Shake was yummy and lemonade was delicious
Friendly and attentive staff. The burgers were great and different than your typical fast food. The fries and tot poppers were delicious. And the lemonade was homemade. I was surprised how quickly they made our order.
The food was a definite five star!! I had the avocado bacon cheeseburger and hubby got the cattleman Burger. Both were absolutely delicious. Also got two drinks and a small order of onion rings and they were pretty good as well. We paid $22 for everything, which is about what we would expect. The place gets very busy and service is kind of slow so that is why the four stars. No one was in front of us but we still waited at least 10 to 15 minutes for our food. Behind us were at least another six or seven cars and their orders were even slower. I guess the good thing is that everything is made fresh and that is why it takes a little longer. The employees, however, were all very nice and friendly. This place is way on the outside of town (on the east sidebut well worth the trip.
Absolutely loved my burger and fries. Just what my road-trip needed. The Godzilla burger really filled me up more than expected which was a delight. Kind service and they turned the misters on outside to make our stay more comfortable. Would definitely come back.
Great local hamburger joint. Enjoy the personalized car hops that come out to take your order and deliver it once it is ready. Dont miss this local spot for great burgers and much more.
I stopped through on my way across the state and was very impressed with what I found. I like the old-fashioned style with the iPad technology for taking orders. Its a perfect blend of convenience and history. I like that the burgers have multiple choices of cheese and toppings. The woman who took my order was very friendly and fast!
Friendly service, good food! Not fast food if thats what youre looking for, but delicious. It looks like they make it when you order it. The sauce on their hamburgers is really good. Its definitely a really small "hole in the wall" kind of place, but worth the stop!
Oh it was awful experience! Was hungry stop get small fries tide me over until could get home. Ended up waitin half hour@drive up window. Everyone else get there order & drive away! Order finally came up. Then Fries were soggy and not even Hot! Awful long wait. Just for small fries!
I know, 5 stars? What is this, the Ritz? Nope, this is the best possible type of burger joint, one with great food, friendly staff, and a great, honest vibe.I had the Cheeseburger with Angry Sauce and a Boysenberry Shake. You ever eat something and it is just perfect? That was my experience, a straightforward burger made just the right way, but still was uniquely theirs. If I ever make my way through Pendleton again, I would surely make my way there again!
I just got a root beer this trip, they have great shakes and used to have pretty good burgers( I havent eaten one for about 5 yearsnice friendly staff.
Food is always great. The two young ladies working tonight were exceptional. I had them make a drink theyd never heard of and a customized burger. The drink fountain wasnt working correctly, they fixed it and had my meal out in a very quick fashion. Thank you!
The burgers were cheaply priced and were WAY too good for the price they were. Think of it being the same price as fast food BUT the food isnt fast food.Ordered their BIGGEST BURGER for less than $10.Im a grown man and I was definitely full after eating one.
Really like the food here! The service is pretty good but can be slow. Its definitely old fashioned but worth a decent amount of choices. The food has good flavor which cant be said about most of the big chain burger joints. The wait can be long if you dont order ahead online. This is a go to when stopping or staying in Pendleton! My only complaint is we decided to try the fried cheese sticks this time and out of two orders of them, one order had all the cheese cooked out of them. The whole bag was just shells of fried dough where the cheese used to be. Other bag was good. We didnt know until we had left, or wouldve mentioned it.
Always stop by when passing through. Homey, Quick and top notch service! I have a gluten sensitivity and really appreciate them carrying gluten free Buns on hand! Woman behind the counter is the best!
Good food! They were ridiculously busy when we were there...dining area closed(presumably due to COVID-19 govt restrictions), which meant we had a 15 minute drive to our RV camping area, which meant food probably wasnt as good as it would have been hot. That said, it was fun and delicious!
Awesome little drive in to grab a tasty bite at if youre driving through Pendleton OR.We had the avocado bacon burger, veggie burger, cheeseburger and fried chicken sandwich. We also got the last order of the tot poppers (wrapped in bacon with jalapenos inside, topped with cheese)Everything came out fast and tasted great!Get their spicy angry sauce... It goes with everything!
I had a mushroom and swiss burger, fries, and a shake. Good food, prices are a bit more than on the Google listings pictured menu, but portion size was fair. The place isnt much to look at, but its just a basic drive through. The service was quite nice, the lady I would presume to be the owner said hi to my kids and asked them how their day was going. She had a very pleasant demeanor. A worthwhile stop for sure, but they cant all be fives.
Pretty great stop! I had the Mac daddy which was wonderful. My dad had the double cheeseburger and said there was no ketchup or pickles, not sure if you need to clarify you want that when you order? The fries were delicious... the medium was like a large! They also have fry sauce... yum! My moms onion rings were super overdone and hard which was a shame as the reviews on here were glowing. I also had a shake and it was way too runny and sickly sweet. But Id be back for another go at a hamburger and fries!
The service was excellent!! The guy taking our order was a homie and was soooo nice. We even did a couple orders on one thing and it was no problem. The line moved slow but it was compensated for with the quality of the burgers. They brought our shakes out to us while we waited in line so we had something to sip on. Amazing!!!
Quick and efficient. People come out to the car when the line is long and get your order.Tastes like everything is made from scratch.Onion Rings were hot and delicious. They were gone so fast I didnt get a photo. The fries are good, but eat them fast as they are best hot.The burger was the main event. We had three: the cheeseburger with pepper jack which mom devoured. The Mac Daddy was consumed by the backseat rider who loves mac and cheese. Thumbs up from him.And I had the Jumbo Cheeseburger, which was fresh and delicious. On my (no one gets a 10scale, this buger is a solid 8.
We were traveling and decided to stop in at Hals Hamburgers for lunch. My wife and I enjoyed the burgers and shake. The onion rings are good, but based on what I saw, Id recommend their tots over the fries or rings. We shared a creamy and delicious chocolate shake. Service is fast and friendly with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Definitely worth stopping in for lunch!
I like the easy road access and next door church parking lot. Not a terrible hassle to get on/off 84. My driver seem to particularly enjoy his chocolate espresso malt and was very pleased with the friendly service from smiling faces.
WORTH STOPPING HERE! The place is definitely a little run down but it adds to the charm. The food is amazing! Seriously the best burger Ive had in a long time. We got the Cattlemans and the Funky Chicken and the Jalepeno Tots.
