Hak Heang Restaurant in Long Beach
Description
Privilege
Plenty of space, food is ok, one noodle soup needed more soup
Sensory overload. What a fantastic place.Crack open a warm beer and enjoy the decor, ambience, and people watching. This place has it all- and the food is pretty darn yum as well.Go with your besties and come out with ringing ears from the deafening karaoke and Cambodian line dancing. If you do not have a super evening at this place, then you are a mean hearted soul. I even got to meet a Cambodian Elvis. 5 stars just for that.
MoreHighly recommend Great foods, great service reasonably priced
One of the best, good prices good service.
Havent tried it yet. Plan to update review once I do.
Always great food! Always eat everything we visit!
Good:- huge a la carte portions- flavors are on point- enormous eating space- plenty of space for strollerMeh:- parking is no bueno- needs an overhaul of decorI met up a couple of friends for lunch time around noon. There was about 4 spots out front. During dinner time and the weekends good luck with the parking.Since one of my friends knows the owner, service was fairly quick. Its a Cambodian restaurant with traditional Cambodian dishes, but there are also lots of Chinese dishes as well. My fave dish to order at any real Cambodian spot is the lemongrass beef. The flavor was spot on, but the quality of the meat was so so and some of the pieces a bit chewy. A surprise to me though was the beef bone soup. AMAZING! Tastes just like mom used to make, so it brought back some really good memories. As i mentioned before, my friend knows the owner so i didnt get to see a menu with prices, but for 3 of us was about $60-70 for 6 dishes.Come give this place a try when youre in the area. Happy eating!
MoreComing here for dinner on the weekday.Friendly services. Our server packed the leftover food for us.The only Cambodian restaurant left in town that do wedding and events.
MoreI was there once for lunch and once for an event. It had the typical menu for Cambodian and Chinese food. The event menu was the typical Cambodian wedding fare. It was alright.
MoreReview submitted in 2020:Visiting from Arizona. Came here to eat with family’s. My stir fried noodle was warm and some of the meat was cold. Added more of the hoisin sauce and sriracha sauce for some flavor. My hot tea was more hot then my meal. I knew I should of went to LB Thai or elsewhere. If part of my food is warm and / cold, I think they preheat the food as in the make it and store it.Update - 06/22/22Will mark this location temp close
MoreCambodian restaurant. The service is much better than Lowell Ma. The restroom and place is clean.
MoreVery good Cambodian food thats mid-pricey. A very spacious location thats good for private parties and events and has a stage for performances.
MoreAwful service!! We entered the restaurant, and no one greeted or ushered us to a table. After waiting about two minutes, we helped ourselves to a table and sat there for 20 min, so we went to the front desk requested to order our food, and they said that they would take our orders in a minute, but 15 min later, we still waiting, so we walked out after 35 minutes after waiting. Not recommending!
MoreGreat restaurant to take the family the prices arent too bad parking is good and a lot of space if you want to go there for an event.
MoreVery good. Would return. The pork grounded curry was a 10
Checked in again. Food same experience. Not 100% authentic Khmer food but it was good. Came to visit family and we stopped by for lunch. Parking can be a hassle. It was full when we arrived but the employee valets. We ordered steamed fish, stir fry ginger lobster, meat kabobs, beef sour soup, lemongrass frog legs and stir fry clams. All was delicious! I recommend this restaurant if you are seeking Khmer cuisine. I would definitely return! (Two entree only pictured since we forgot to take the other dishes prior to eatting).
MoreI have been ordering take out Great food! Bo Luc Lac, ginger chicken and noodles are really tasty.
MoreThe food was delicious like always!
Beautiful interior and the foods are delicious. The service is great too. Parking on weekends are very limited.
MoreBeen to this place several times primarly for wedding events. The staff is always polite and helpful and the food is pretty good. Parking is sometimes a challenge.
MoreThe go-to place for authentic Phnom Penh noodle soup, with or without soup; either option is delicious. The flavor is always consistent. Why not 5 stars? Parking is an issue, especially during the weekend. The neighborhood isnt the safest either.
MoreFoods was delicious and the customer service was excellent. I will definitely come back here again.
MoreLove this place. Great for big family gatherings. Live Cambodian music. Food is a hit and miss with me but Im a bit of a picky eater.
MorePretty bad service, not sure if they were understaffed but it took a while to place our order. Tables and chairs were dirty and still had pieces of noodle and bones.
MoreFirst time here food very tasty, very friendly service..
Ive eaten here often but lately the flavoring of some of the food I love to eat (ie Chicken Ginger, Chicken with Lemongrasshas fallen down, hence a drop in a star. The staff are cool for the most part. They mustve had a new cook or something.
MoreI was very impressed with this restaurant. I ordered their salt and pepper shrimp, and it was so good I couldnt stop thinking about it until I went back and ordered it again. As of right now, they have outside dining.
MoreGood spot in the heart of Cambodia town for down home authentic cambodian food. Good selection of noodles or rice dishes. Fresh seafood and family platters or combos. I always get the dry noodles with a side of bone broth soup.
MoreHak Heang Restaurant has been a Cambodian fixture in the heart of Long Beach , California for a long time. We go more for the culture and atmosphere then the food itself. All the Khmer Restaurants pretty much serves the same food. It’s a blend of Cambodian/Thai/Chinese influence. Week days are slow, but weekends are booked with weddings and parties. Its a small Khmer community. Everyone knows each other. I am glad we have Khmer food choices away from Cambodia.
MoreIts a big restaurant. Food is good. Employees alittle hard to talk to. Place could use better cleaning/replacing older assets.Edit: I didnt get the correct things I ordered yet again. Ordered to go and the lady forgot to tell me the food was ready. I was waiting almost an hour (with me and one other person being the only clients in the entire big restaurant. I went up front and waited instead and another guy got my order right away. The rice was more expensive than usual. It was 16$+ and tax. In total spent 36-38$ for 2 things. I could have had 3 orders or more elsewhere with better service and serving amount. Also, if you dont like loud music and crowded people you can come here in the weekdays during the day. Were almost neighbors but stopped coming here due to slow service and pricier foods than average. Just not worth the long wait. Will take the gas expense and money to a faster and better service/food.
MoreAbsolutely delicious Cambodian food! Had the #13 combination soup and purchased Pad See Ew... to go. Food was amazing as were the prices, atmosphere, and service. Thank you Jake Heang for a pleasurable experience.
MoreI absolutely love the garlic fried chicken on rice, my favorite dish. Looks plain, but ordered it so often they knew my order by heart, and I probably caused sales of the dish to increase 1000% due to all the people who now "just had to try it"...
MoreMy family loves this restaurant. One of the many authentic Khmer restaurants to come to, we have a long history here. My aunts and uncles staple, the staff are always accommodating and kind. We usually order in Khmer, so it really feels like part of my family and culture. Huge menu, where all our family members can each order something different.
MoreWe ordered traditional Khmer food such as fried intestines, beef on a stick, ground beef with curry and eggplant, green vegetable, and tilapia fish. It always hits the spot and you leave satisfied. We went Monday afternoon so its not busy like the weekends. We visit Long Beach for this restaurant and Im glad the food never fails.
MoreI attended a my kousin wedding there and we had a great night.
This is a spot all the locals in Long Beach go to. Families come every weekend and eat and there is live entertainment. I would come here all the time with my parents and siblings. I ordered the combination mekatung; beef and seafood noodle stir fry. Everything on the menu is delicious. They also offer family meals/courses. Smoothies, boba, and alcohol are also available for order.
MoreGreat food and friendly service!!!!A great place to visit while in Long beach, Ca.
MoreIt was my first time going here, I usually saw people waiting outside to be attended in a big restaurant with capacity for 400 people andI thought the reason was because was a nice place, delicious food and excellent service. I went on Tuesday only 2 tables. The service was ok not attentive but ok. The food not bad, we request fried rice with shrimp, lobster with lemon, duck with lemon, huge portions. "boba" (strawberry banana without boba they substitute with jelly because they did not have boba and pineapple coconut smoothiedefinitely I gave 2 stars because there were a lot flies over our food.
MoreDelicious food! I heard it gets lively during the weekends, but we went on a weekday and it was very quiet. Convenient parking and very spacious inside.
MoreI havent had Cambodian food in almost 30 years. The problem with ethnic food is that most of it is cooked by different nationalities and then call it authentic. Well, this place is very authentic and the food is phenomenal. Im a big fan of whole fish. The whole catfish is delicious and the lobster, OMG! They use the female lobster with roe attached. Absolutely beautiful. Theres a sauce that come with the whole fish. Its not oyster but more of a savory gravy. If you live close to Long Beach, check this place out. Cost is very reasonable.
MoreMy family came here from Canada to try out the Cambodian food. My mother is born and raised in Cambodia and has not tried eating at a Cambodian restaurant in many many years. That is a picture of my moms reaction when they served the food! Very authentic and so tasty!!! Come here if you want some real good tasting Cambodian and Chinese food!
MoreIve been going here since I was young(now 27 years oldand the food is great. Seafood and bahok are my favorites and you can get it here. Ive only been here for weddings, so maybe its a special menus? But its always great, I would recommend this place for special events to anyone who loves khmer food!
MoreGood Cambodian and Chinese food. Its a bit pricey, but portions are very big and shareable. I came here with a big group of friends and we got one of the multi-course dinners, well worth it! Also theres a Cambodian live band at night, very nice.
MoreFor my experience, I dont like the way they didnt at wedding party. Bad service and they serve the food very slow. Each of food, you have to wait at least an hour. For the parking spot also bad. Its hard to find spot to park. So then you have to valet parking, and if you parking on the street or different plaza, you might get tow. 👎👎👎
MoreThe food is always good and the price is very reasonable. This is the best Cambodian restaurant I can find in long beach so far. My only gripe is the service is just so-so and they often forget your orders or take the wrong order. Other than that, I highly recommend this place for good Cambodian food and good price.
MoreI always stop by when Im in town and this time around the service was much more pleasant. Im not use to good service at Asian restaurants but I had great food as always and surprisingly friendly great service as well. Ill continue to stop by everytime Im in town.
MoreFrom all the Cambodian place in Long Beach I really like this one. Parking on weekends mornings can be a challenge. Dont expect a nice quiet breakfast as they have live entertainment on weekends which is "loud" to say the least. But do expect decent prices for quality food.
MoreIve been here for two wedding receptions and I think they did a decent job. The first time they service was speedy and the second time they served a few items out of order and it took them a while to start serving. They have a live band that plays Khmer music and dance floor. Ill probably end up having my wedding reception here.
MoreThe food was really good. I ordered the combination rice soup and the beef sticks. The broth in soup was the best Ive had that wasnt home made. Beware if the liver in it though. Wasnt expecting it. Good thing I like liver lol. There was a live band playing. A shame I couldnt enjoy them seeing as how I dont understand khmer unless its certain curse words or the foods that I know. Will definitely be back. Dont know why it took so long to come in the first place
MoreRaw meat lovers, get the raw beef salad. A big pile of tender thinly sliced beef mixed with a little bit Cambodian greens, fresh chunks of lemon grass, green chillies, green chillies and fish sauce. Totally worth it, nice portion. Not on menu, so you need to point out raw shrimp salad on menu and tell them "beef."
