Compact vineyard in the Adelaide hills growing many Austrian varietals that are good with food.

Beautiful place with beautiful wine and chocolate experience highly recommended
Loved wine pairing experienc with chocolates. Visual did great Job explaining details. Must visit place for visitors looking to experience Adelaide Hills and hahndorf wine tasting.
MoreExcellent. Great wines, chocolate and cheese, but the standout was the service. Kate went above and beyond to make our daughter happy, and to support us while our toddler slept. Cannot recommend them highly enough, and will definitely be back.
MoreFantastic views, enthusiastic informative staff, yummy wines & chocolates. A fun few hours.
MoreWow wow wow! We came here as it was close to Hahndorf town center. It’s autumn & the grape leaves has turned red. The view was more amazing from the cellar door. We did a wine tasting. The service was top notch. Cheryl, explain what we were tasting & was very tentative. The wine was very nice. We bought some.
MoreStaff are amazing. Great wine and views.
Hahndorf Hill Winery is an absolute hidden gem! The staff were so helpful and kind, our group couldn’t speak highly enough of the chocolate and wine flight, plus the ice cream and wine pairing experience was really surprisingly delicious (and dairy free)! The views over the vineyards are breathtaking and we found the whole experience so serene. The first time we visited it was an accidental find, but since then we’ve been back multiple times and have never been disappointed.
MoreI had the wine tasting and purchased wine at their cellar door, and subsequently ordered wine online twice.I can highly recommend this winery for a terrific, friendly experience and great service. My online orders processed very fast.Friendly customer service and nice people to deal with. Will definitely visit this winery again, and keep purchasing their wines.Thankyou.
MoreBeautiful vineyard, great service. What I dont like is the wine tasting experience is more like restaurant dine in. $12 for a standard restaurant serve size wine to taste, i.e a bit of wine for three types. $20 for a small cheese plater to share.
MoreWe had a wonderful experience, being hosted by knowledgeable, friendly and very welcoming.
MoreLovely service from the waitress today with a range of the table ordering different things, the chocolate red wine duo was to die for and throughly enjoyed by a few of us. Something a bit different with it being Austrian Inspired, I was hesitant to bring people here after an average experience before but glad to see it has improved over the last year
MoreExcellent customer service by Mr. Vishal. He has a very rich knowledge on winery and would suggest wine accordingly. Highly recommend this place for wine lovers.
MoreChocovino experience was something else. Highly recommend. Staff were knowledgeable and very helpful
MoreWe did the choco vino experience based on a recommendation from a friend who used to live in Adelaide. We highly recommend it. The view is very lovely and staff at the winery at excellent.
MoreSuch a wonderful place, the staff were so knowledgeable and welcoming. The wine was also very tasteful. Thank you for the experience.
MoreSuch a pretty wine room! Really enjoyed this space and the laid back wine tasting. Will absolutely recommend this winery!
MoreMy partner and I spent 9 days in Adelaide recently, and visited wineries in the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale, and the Clare Valley. My partner is very particular about his wine. But our absolute standout favourite was our experience with you at HHW. We wanted to give you some feedback as to why:a. The tasting was 3 completely different wines. We were able to easily determine which ones we preferred. So many other wineries give you 5, and they are all so similar that you end up only buying a couple of bottles from obligation – you simply can’t easily separate which ones you really liked.b. The service was wonderful – knowledgeable and warm, but without being intrusive and pushy. Only at one other winery did we buy more than 2 bottles, and then only 2 dozen. Not the 4 dozen we bought from you.c. The tasting platter was simply delightful – we loved it!d. The view was amazing, and we really enjoyed the ambience.Congratulations to Dee, Mark & Larry, and all at HHW. Absolutely wonderful!
MoreBeautiful place, great service and most importantly, delicious white and red wine. Vijesh, took his time to explain to us about the vineyard’s history, the grapes and the wines. Amazing experience, highly recommend.
MoreWonderful experience visiting Hahndorf Hill Winery today. We got flights of wine and cheese. Our server took time and care to explain all our selections to us, providing excellent service. The view is gorgeous. I am quite particular about my wine, yet to my delight, I was struggling to find a wine I didn’t like! Would highly recommend!
MoreWe did the wine experience. What a lovely quaint winery. Kaaren was our guide and what a very lovely warm welcome we received when we first arrived. She was extremely informative and the wines were really nice. To anyone that usually only drinks red, try the whites they were really nice. Thank you for making our day memorable and accommodating our whole group. It really was an enjoyable experience.
MoreEnjoyed a late afternoon wine tasting complete with plenty of options including wine & chocolate which my wife thought was amazing. The area was beautiful and we sat enjoying the views across the vines to the surrounding hills ……. definitely worth the trip to the Adelaide Hills
MoreGreat cellar door with views of the vines. Friendly helpful staff. Highly recommend the wine and chocolate pairing. Quite an unique wine tasting experience in Australia because of the Austrian wine styles on offer. An excellent example of the relatively uncommon Gruner in Australia.
MoreAwesome winery with great options to pair with cheese, chocolate as well as ice cream, we loved the wine and chocolate tasting and the red wine flights. The hostess was very warm and welcoming and it was a beautiful place, worth a visit if you are in Adelaide.
MoreOne of the highlights of my Adelaide Hills trip. Especially enjoyed the Blaufrankisch. Non-pretentious and welcoming staff. Be careful on the driveway in if you have a low car.
MoreI remember seeing Kaarens name in peoples reviews when I looked up this winery on Google.Kaaren served us , and was super caring and attentive, helping us move tables so we could stay longer. The sorbet was also amazing.
MoreSampled amazing wines and cheeses. We enjoyed the mixed flight, gruner veltliner is a standout in particular. Staff went above and beyond to accommodate and were super helpful. Would highly recommend!
MoreToday we opened a bottle of baukraftankisch 2015 to go with our roast duck accompanied with the bones cooked out to create the stock for a mushrooms risotto. SensationalHope you have hidden away 2015 as it was a great wine . Happy to buy .cheers Nick
MoreGreat experience ! The wine and chocolate pairings are wonderful and original, and the atmosphere is very relaxing with a terrace overlooking the vines. The staff is also very nice and knowledgeable with good explanations of each flavors and how to best appreciate them.
MoreToo many self imposed restrictions to get more profit out of consumers, taking advantage of the covid situation. Can’t share chocolates, cheese but table seating were right next to each other? Went to Shaw & Smith just down the road, had a beautiful cheese platter to share, great wine tastings and service.
MoreMy first experience at a winery in SA and Hahndorf Hill Winery did not disappoint. Extremely friendly and accommodating staff with amazing wine. Meant to only go for a quick tasting but ended up staying longer and enjoying the tranquility.
MoreWe went to four wineries in Adelaide hills and this place was our favourite! Panashe served us and she was lovely and extremely helpful. We ended up with two bottles of the beautiful Gru- white wine and Green Fairy- dessert wine. Nice to find new wine favourites.
MoreMy first wine tasting here in Australia with my local friend’s recommendation. It’s a really nice place not too far from the city. We did the wine tasting first and Jessica was professional. We picked the one we liked and had our lunch that paired up with it. The seafood platter was delicious. Overall a very nice experience for me.
MoreAmazing Little Winery, the View is Incredible, The Wine Tasting was great! The Sommelier serving us Panashe was Friendly & Knowledgable, ended up walking away with a bottle of Rosé 🍷
MoreHad a very pleasant tasting with Sloan today. Excellent wines, wonderful setting.
MoreOur visit to Hahndorf hill vineyard was inspired by a customer I was helping in Queensland to locate her order from this magnificent vineyard. She then recommended if ever I was in SA we should go ourselves. It is one of the best experiences weve had on our trip, so a huge thankyou Hahndorf hill and to my customer who was travelling internationally for work. What a treat.
MoreWe dropped in quickly to celebrate Larry’s National Wine award 🥇 in 2018. The team were welcoming and we had an inspiration wine tasting #thanks for an awesome few hours
MoreBEAUTIFUL spot! Mostly Austrian wines varietals which are interesting but nothing really captured my interest. We arrived first thing inn the morning and were welcomed very warmly. Tasting up at the bar and redeemable per person per bottle.
MoreThe pairing of wine and chocolate is a surprisingly good idea. The staff of this winery is very friendly and helpful. The place is cozy and pleasant. The view over the vineyard is beautiful. After the tasting, you can also get some nice chocolate packs apart from some bottles of wine.
MoreMy wife and I came for the Chocovino experience and really enjoyed it! The staff was very friendly and took the time to explain all the wines and chocolate to us. The experience is really worth it! Most grocery chocolate does not pair well with wine, but they have hand crafted chocolate that really goes with the wine.
MoreSuch a beautiful winery! Came here for lunch with my 97 year old grandmother and the staff were so welcoming and accommodating. The tasting plates are generous servings and delicious, and the wine flights let you sample a trio of wines without overindulging. The chocolate cake and affogato are a must-try for dessert. Didn’t try the chocolate and wine pairings but saw others, and they looked exceptional.
MoreCame here to do the chocolate and wine tasting. The staff was great looking after us and very informative in everything we were trying so made the experience great. Chocolate was fantastic and wines were very tasty. Wish i came here sooner but will definitely be back again soon + the view is so nice! Thank you fir having us.
MoreI live this place. For the Hills locals, this is what The Lane used to feel like to me. Its friendly and welcoming, the staff recognise to if youve been there before, theyre enthusiastic about what theyre selling, and theyre just as happy to chat about other stuff not necessarily wine related. The wine is gorgeous and fresh, and the seafood platter I had with mum is likewise local, filled with Harris smoked fish and paté. Highly recommended.
MoreMy friends & I have a lovely visit to the Hahndorf Hill Winery. The view are gorgeous; the staff were knowledgeable and attentive, but did not hover. Between us, we enjoyed the Chocovino experience with both red & white wines, and a cheese platter. Would highly recommend a visit to HHW.
MoreFantastic wines, friendly staff and lovely surroundings. The winemakers too are lovely people. Have no issue with being charged $5 for a tasting either these days, the winemakers put so much of effort into making the wines and then to take the time out to discuss them with you and explain the differences between them. Why not.Highly recommended!
MoreFabulous wine tasting and Choco Vino experience! My husband and I made a booking for Easter Sunday. We’d read about their ChocoVino experience, so we simply HAD to try it for ourselves. Larry, one of the owners of Hahndorf Hill winery, warmly welcomed us as we entered the tasting room. We were quickly seated at our table with a lovely view over the vineyard. After perusing the menu of ChocoVino experiences, we opted for the full tasting. And we were not disappointed! Dee (pictured on the home page of their websitewalked us through the way we should appreciate the chocolate and wine pairings that were placed before us. Our first course was presented in a wooden ‘treasure chest’ of sorts. Opening it revealed a roasted cocoa bean, palate cleansing apple slices and two Australian produced milk chocolates, from Haighs and Daintree Estates respectively. Oh and not to forget an absolutely superb bottle of mineral water from Cape Grim in Tasmania. Also designed to be a palate cleanser, Dee regaled us with their story, of being home to the cleanest air and water on earth. I have to admit I don’t think I’ve ever taken the time to really taste chocolate. Following the instructions provided, it was quite amazing to observe the subtle flavour differences between even each of the single roasted cocoa beans we’d been given. And then to move onto the Haighs and Daintree milk chocolates, there was as big difference between them too! For our next course, dark chocolates were paired with two of their wines. Breaking with the rules you’d expect re chocolate and wine, one was paired with their unique white wine varietal Gruner Veltliner. The other was paired with their single origin Shiraz. We followed their tasting instruction of first trying the chocolate, then the wine… cleansing your palate and trying the wine then the chocolate, and thirdly trying the two almost together. We were amazed at how well their Gruner Veltliner went with the dark chocolate, truly did not expect the matching to work so beautifully on the palate! And it goes without saying that the Shiraz was also gorgeous with the chocolates chosen to match too. They encouraged us to take our time, and we spent a wonderful hour just savouring the whole experience! We will be back for sure!
MoreThey charge $5 for wine tasting. I only drink red and would be happy to pay this if they had a big selection of reds but all they had was two. They didnt offer to lower the tasting price because I wouldnt be tasting the four whites they had available nor give me more tasting for my money even though I made it very clear I will only be tasting the reds. I didnt buy a bottle out of pure dislike after driving out especially to their winery and being charged $5 for two of the tiniest sips of wine, I would have been better tasting their wine at a pub where I would get more value for money. This is the first time Ive ever paid for a wine tasting at a winery. Whilst Im not completely opposed to paying I dont wineries should be profiteering from people making the effort to come see what they have to offer. The whole experience has completely put me off this wine.
MoreIve been to Hahndorf Hill Winery on several occasions. The sense of being welcome and looked after is excellent. The service and the atmosphere in the winery is a bit like visiting family, you just feel welcome to relax and enjoy yourself. The chocolate they have available is amazing, its the best chocolate from around the world. It really is something to be enjoyed. If youve not been to HHW and you love great atmosphere, great wine, great hospitality - youve got to go.
