Local neighborhood bar... good and bad....okay for a few drinks and some comfort food

Your establishment is disgusting and dirty. I go there for one night and your sewage backs up and your bartenders are walking around with air freshener and you leave one bathroom for about 50 people... real classy.

I have been here many times with co workers before covid hit. Ive never had a bad or slight negative experience at Hacks!Pool tables x4 with Dart Boards.Dancing can be done with house music or part of the live bands that Hacks hosts here!Food is epic! Staff are so nice & friendly. Can get very busy here but Ive never had any problems with wait times when very busy.I am a slightly bit biased due to the fact that I am a muscian & their is not a ton of places to play. But Hacks has been a great place to get shot at playing live!Fighting the good fight to please alot of different people with different likes & pleasures in a city full of bars & restaurants!Thanks for keepin it real here!

Great neighborhood bar, recently spruced up inside. My servers Amanda and Deb were quick and attentive.

I wasnt at the Taps & Grill, just walked past to go to the elections office next door. But there was a rowdy crowd of smokers and carousers outside the restaurant. They took up the whole area and I had to either walk through the noise and stench or around them on the parking lot roadway. And of course, I cant post this review unless I answer the questions, none of which are applicable.

Great time at the poker tournament. Had lunch, drinks and some appetizers.

Great food, great staff and great people. Ive been going here for years and theres not to many places to see live music where there is no cover charge. Always entertaining live bands Fridays and Saturdays and such a great atmosphere.

Fun place for beers and games. Lots of dart boards and a few pool tables. These guys sponsored my softball team so they are alright in my books. I hear the name will change soon.

Staff and patrons are nice. Nice TVs. I wish they had Olympics playing and other sports at the same time too. They need more working staff on the Saturday night. I wish they had a palace though.

Hacks has the most amazing staff and are so welcoming. Mel, the bartender is so friendly and treats every customer with respect. I am proud to call her my new beautiful, caring and wonderful friend. Sean, a longtime friend is always happy with a young spirit. Happy birthday Sean! I always have a great experience and new adventure the with amazing staff and customers at hacks.

Invited to bday party by there and wanted to leave early on way be there . Me it was awesome ! Everything was great . They need 1 more server but the ladies on a add and the owner was amazing . The band was great ! Loved the event! Happy Bday Beer!

Do not go if you have a medical reason for not wearing a mask. Got kicked out because of this. Being predudice against people who dont wear masks. Besides I had a gingerale in my hand that I was trying to drink.

Kind of run down inside but wait staff were nice and food wasnt bad either ....but I do think a plate wood of been nice and cutlery helpful

We came up way before close (an hour and a half), and the bartender turned away saying they were closed. There was no sign at the front, nothing indicating they were closed and had about 14 people sitting at the bar and half of them laughed when we started walking away.

Amazing French fries, not bad over all vibes for a nice spot to have a drink. No matter the day of week, its a good choice. Plus family works there.**

Foods fantastic, great friendly staff.I find the music to be a wee bit loud but thats me personally. Bathrooms are clean and theres a store just down the plaza more.

Theres nothing not to love about hacks. Theres something for everyone, the service is amazing, prices are fair, atmosphere is uplifting and the food is fantastic.

It was like awesome sauce. The kinda place that tops off every great day so swell in fact very well. They have some really cool stuff going on around there these days. Heck Id move in if theyd let me. LolThere is a great man behind the place I have to say. He works hard to make the place fun for everyone he can.

Staff tonight was very attentive, enough pool tables to cover all our group (covid bubble). Wings were good and draft was cold.

Very friendly small family atmosphere, everybody is super nice and when you celebrate wins either at pool/darts or games on the tv then you celebrate as a bar. Awesome list of shots and the foods good too - love the poutine gravy especially and deep fried pickles. When youve gone one time, you come back knowing at least 1 person the next time.

Excellent staff, nice atmosphere (although, a little dark lighting), pop $2.50 can, pool was cheap for tournament players, room temp was a bit warmer than expected.

Ive been here a quite a few times over the last 10 or more years now - usually due to certain friends or events. This bar hosts live music, pool tables, and dart boards - Plenty of room for all of them. A good variety of music/bands play here, so dependent on your tastes in music and if you like billiards/darts, you may find yourself going often. it can get pretty full at times, so you may want to get there a bit early. Decent amounts of seating, and dance floor space, and both regulars and staff are friendly.

Very interesting place, busy that night and the service was still prompt. There was a live band and the staff was hustling to get everyone there orders. We went in with 16 of us

Stopped in for a quick drink while waiting for my laundry to finish next door. Probably all its good for. Place smelled like cigarettes somehow, and service wasnt exactly quick for how few people were in there. Got bottled beer because I didnt trust the draght lines to be cleaned recently.

Great ambiance, bands, good and ... well its a bar, hence TAPS in the name.Pay pool tables plus soft tip darts and regular darts, bring yours.The staff are very friendly and helpful. Regulars the same.The live music is local talent.Lots of parking.You really cant go wrong with this neighbourhood location.

I try to go at least once a week, but by my second time there, the bartender remembered my name and drink.The place is clean, the food is good, and everything is reasonably priced. I love to go and play darts there.

Place was dead, had 6 people total everyone was drinking, no one was playing pool. For a place that that has pool tables, they werent selling the table times properly. But i do have to say the first second i walked in the place looked cool

Michelle made the best loaded fries I gave EVER had!!! She has the best service and the karaoke is awesome... but Michelle is the reason hacks is what it is today!!! Love this place!!

Very cool place! Good food, lots of billiard tables, dart boards and sports screens. They even have great live music on Friday & Saturday nights!

Hacks is awesome I go every weekend to play pool and I love the staff and the people. Everyone is so friendly. I feel great every time I go and meet new people.

After getting out of the little university bubble of Waterloo, it was cool to find this little sports bar hidden away. From the outside it didnt look like anything too special, just a typical place to grab drinks and catch a game. Once we walked in, we noticed it wasnt too crowded for a Saturday night and the place was very spacious. Pool tables werent crammed together and table were spread far apart.The bar was the first thing to hit when you walked in. Friendly bartenders and drinks at decent prices.The game changer though was the pool costs.Unlike most pool halls Ive been to, here we had to pay only ONE DOLLAR PER GAME! Simply had to throw a loonie into the machine and it was game on. After going to locations that charge $20/hour, this was definitely a refreshing change.The next thing that surprisingly caught me off guard were the washrooms! At small bars / pubs its easy to assume youll have to use a dingy washroom in the back but these were super clean and looked newly renovated.Overall, GREAT experience!. Glad we bumped into this place and would definitely hit it up next time Im in town,

I loved the atmosphere. Owner was super friendly making sure we had a good time. Had great laughs, great food and the bar tender and owner both made us feel comfortably at home... Cant wait to go back for live kereoke and hearing the bands... Fantastic experience all around

Awesome little bar, customer services is outstanding for the most part, food is better than most restaurants, and the beer is as cold as glacier Ice. And to top it off live entertainment and the Dj was off the wall.

Staff was nice but my goodness, if youre not their target clientele, you may feel alienated. Luckily I was facing the wall but my poor friends got a more than a weeks worth of cat calls, raised eyebrows and uncomfortable stares. The food is incredible though! The poutine is massive basket of fries, sprinkled with cheese and doused with a generous amount of gravy. Wings are also pretty amazing.

Great and friendly atmosphere:Prices are good food is yummy and Pool Tables ::also have darts and many tvs. Clean and respectful place, like it so much I have switched pool teams and joined Hacks pool team :I suggest you go visit and see for yourself!!

We had a great experience here. This has the neighborhood bar feel to it. The food was great and very well priced as were the drinks. We went there as we wanted to go eat and also play pool. After going to several other placed that were terrible we found Hacks. The staff was very welcoming as were the patrons. We played pool and also darts while we were watching the game on the multiple big screen TVs. I highly recommend this place and we will definitely be going back.
