Perhaps, the best place to see Red Panda in wild! A dedicated local conservation team striving to save Panda against all odds. They hope to sustain their activities through eco-tourism that is far from what others in the industry do! But if you are of the demanding-type tourist who looks for luxury, comfort and exotic food with least concern for rich wildlife experiences, then this is not the place for you! On the contrary, if you are looking for immersive wildlife experiences and love to contribute to sustain local conservation efforts, willing to rough out a bit and physically fit for short bursts of tough walk in challenging terrains and explore and enjoy all forms of life in a temperate forest setting, then this is a heaven tailor-made for you...

Amazing location, in the heart of Red Panda country. They call it Homestay but do not be mistaken by the term - it is nowhere less than a luxury lodge, specially considering the location. I drove up from Maneybhanjan to Habres Nest and had to trek in parts of the journey since it was snowing and car got stuck. Makes you appreciate the efforts put by Shantanu and his team even more. Good is delicious and they serve traditionally cooked local dishes. Rooms are very cosy and comfortable. Bathrooms have hot and cold running water. Staff is very warm and welcoming and at the same time when they head out to track Red Pandas they are extremely skilled at their work. Kudos to Shantanu Prasad for the excellent team building. Weather can be very unpredictable so suggest you to check with them before arriving and be prepared for sudden rains or snowfall. It was a lovely experience staying here for 3 nights and will definitely be back soon for longer duration. I saw Yellow Throated Martens, Stone Martens and few lovely birds (Fulvettas, Thrushes etc.right from their bird hide.

Excellent arrangements in the remote location. The staff were very caring and made the cold place a warm one. Saw the Red Panda 🐼 in the wild from close. Kudos to Shantanu and team for their efforts in protecting the endangered species.

I did not stay there. But went there. It is a beautiful place to stay. Also very supportive owner. I went there on 22-09-21.

People there are not cooperative. They only guide to people who are staying there. For others they just blindly told you ll not see Red Panda. Disgusting.

Didnt stay here, but the caretaker Arun gave a fantastic tour of this jewel of a property in the midst of heaven. This will appeal to all the creature comforts of a discerning traveller.

Habres Nest is a very well designed wildlife lodge perched at the edge of the Singalila Ridge at Kaiyakata village, on the Indo-Nepal border. It is on the Manebhanjyang to Sandakphu trek and Jeep Safari route. The walls are camouflaged with green ivy and there is a hide for bird-watching behind the lodge. The forests nearby are home to the Red Panda and the staff of the lodge arrange for early morning sightings into the forests. We did not actually stay here but stopped for some snacks and a cup of tea which was served by the nearby tea house. The lodge is on the Nepal side of the border and bookings are done online in advance.

We halted our trek to Kalipokhri (back in 2017for a tea and snacks break here and we were warmly welcomed with nice cup of tea. The room was nicely designed with bamboo, cane, mud and rocks. The place was cleaned and well maintained. Receptionist was so humble and cordial. I just came to know that this place also good for wild Red Panda 🐼 sighting.Highly recommend place!

White browed Fulvetta

This is the best place to stay and photograph the Red Panda. Rooms are cozy with all modern fittings and toilets, hot water available with room heating.
