East African stews and delicacies at an Ethiopian restaurant with colourful decor and artefacts.
Delicious food, great for vegetarians, great price, smiling waiter, Ethiopian Jazz in background.
Great tasting food, good portions. I had the lamb cubes cooked spicy.....wow!
Very sweet place, good price, delightful food & lovely family who run it.
Delicious and a lovely waiter. Made a nice change. Would definitely recommend!
One of the most authentic Ethiopian restaurants I have ever been to. Be prepared to use your hands in the ultimate dining experience! Loved this place. I would highly recommend going in groups. The staff were so friendly. ๐๐พ๐๐พ
I went to buy and it turns out that for a small pizza and a chicken kebab they charged me ยฃ18 I didnt realize at the time if not until later, so it seems to me that they take advantage of drunk people and For the unwary like me, I do not recommend this site. It is dishonest to steal from your own clients. For my part, I always buy from the front and that site has never overcharged me.
Absolutely DELICIOUS food, must try in Manchester. Best food in Manchester and the waiter is lovely ๐
Wish I found this place sooner all these years Iโve gone past and never knew about it. It was my first time trying Ethiopian food and I will most definitely be back, amazing value and service.
Super delicious and fulfilling food. The waiter is also very friendly and hospitable.
The best food and service every time. The waiter is one of the kindest, friendliest and smiliest person Ive ever met. Food is fantastic and price so reasonable. Everyone I bring here falls in love with the food and charm of the place.
So delicious (we had both veggie optionsand really wonderful service from the lovely waiter. Would definitely come again!
It was our first time in ethiopian restaurant, waiter was very welcoming and kind, always smiling. He showed us how to eat in traditional way, but we didnt find the taste to our liking. The bread was sour and food quite spicy for us.
Food was amazing! The wait staff was lovely, he was on his own but no stress and really friendly. Cant believe how good value this place is! For 5 adults it was just over ยฃ70 and were all absolutely stuffed!! 1000% would recommend.
Yesterday we had dinner there and it was fantastic!!! The place is a little bit difficult to find as its above a Kebab place (so you have to go up the stairsbut the place is cute, the staff is super friendly and the food is awesome!!!! We had the 2 vegetarian/vegan dishes they have and we loved them so much. Definitely a must!
An amazing find. Truly authentic with a lot of attention paid to the the quality, taste and presentation of food. We shared 3 dishes between us and were unable to finish despite wanting to eat more since the flavours are so amazing. There are 2 amazing vegetarian options, we had one and it really was great! Great service, comfortable environment and service was first class. Will definitely be back!
Hidden gem in Manchester. It doesnt look anything fancy, but the food is amazing. Really good customer service too - very friendly. Will definitely be back.
Food is good and decently priced. The server is amazing and very kindly explained to us how the food is traditionally eaten when we came here the first time. Would highly recommend.
I found this place via Time Out website..I wanted to try something new and affordable..and yes I walked passed it even though I was following good maps haha. Coming up thr Spiral stairs i was greeted with a smile from Nebu ( I hope I spelt his name right.)Service was friendly gracious and efficient. Food was amazing..the taste of the Doro Wot was what was I was looking for walking round Manchester trying to figure out what I wanted to eat.Menu is simple but plentiful..atmosphere is calming and the music makes the vibe.Thank you for great tasting food and service.I love a place that doesnt make you feel rushed to finish. And this place is it. ๐๐๐
Great, authentic Ethiopian restaurant within easy walking distance of town and Piccadilly and Oxford Rd stations. The restaurant is up the spiral staircase which appears you enter Istanbul Kebab shop! Several Ethiopian couples were eating when we entered - which was encouraging. We ordered lamb tibs, and misir what with injera. Food was good portion size - we couldnt finish it - and tasted great. The waiter and staff were smiling and super friendly and helpful. The bill was very reasonable - recommended - will return.
Our first time trying Ethiopian food, was 10/10 delicious couldnโt recommend more, lovely service he was very friendly ๐
Great authentic home style cooking. Such lovely staff too. It does6look much from outside, but go upstairs.
Our first time in an Ethiopian restaurant! The staff was very friendly. A tasty and novel experience.
One of the best restaurants in Manchester - run by the loveliest people, serving extremely delicious food. Its super reasonably priced, nice atmosphere and has super generous portions. My go to place to bring people who are visiting!
If you want something a little different certainly try this. Ive been visiting for years and the quality has always been great and the staff fantastic! Just remember its up the stairs on the first floor though.
This is my favourite place to eat in Manchester. Its cheap and more importantly absolutely delicious. Great eating experience, staff are always friendly and very relaxed vibes. Cant recommend highly enough.
We were looking to try a different cuisine in Manchester and this restaurant popped up in google due to its highly rated reviews. An authentic Ethiopian restaurant. The place is simple and run by a brother and his sister (chefserving authentic Ethiopian food. Limited menu yet so diverse with veg, chicken, beef and lamb. They have the local Ethiopian beer too. The best part is the hospitality by the owner himself coupled with delicious food which is truly reasonable. Do visit and try the food, sure to love it!
The first challenge is to find the restaurant!!!, its quite unique entering a take- away & then going straight up a spiral staircase to locate the restaurant on a 1st floor. The owner could not be more friendly, helpful and clearly unable to trade without the very capable hands of his wife chef!Just go and experience! Choose a few different items off the menu to share & enjoy a local beer of the region.Just Brilliant!!
Small cosy place with interesting decor. Warm service. The food was good and the quantity adequate. If you want authentic Ethiopian food head for this secret but great joint. If busy the wait can be long. But found the food worth it.
Very nice restaurant, customer service is amazing. I enjoyed every bit of my time at the restaurant
The food here is incredible. A great mixture of non-spicy and spicy food. The Shiro is a must have for everyone! Super friendly staff, great service, decent portion sizes (youll be leaving fulland great prices. The Ethiopian beer is beautiful too - wish more places had it! Thank you guys for a great experience and keep it up!
This was our first time eating Ethiopian food and I have to say that it wasnโt quite for us. We are novices so maybe we didnโt quite order the right mix of food. The traditional bread comes rolled up like little carpets and does taste quite odd. More like a sour pancake. Great to try something new but I think it may be my last foray into Ethiopian cuisine! However, the man who served us was lovely and polite and couldnโt do enough for us.
Something different for us, having never eaten Ethiopian food before. It was delicious, spicy and really tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful, advising us how much to order and how to eat it. Remarkably good value too.
The food was great and there is an incredibly friendly staff who are happy to introduce you to the Ethiopian ways of eating. The local beer was very tasty - a really nice place that is definitely worth a visit!
This is our first time trying Ethiopian food and we were blown away by the food here at Habesha. The gentleman waiter was very polite and accommodating. He helped us to navigate the dining experience with ease. The dishes were so flavoursome and the Inerja bread is nothing like ive ever had before. It is served chilled and soft and fluffy and so deliciously sour it compliments the warm and spicy hot dishes perfectly. This has been my favourite dining experience while visiting Manchester.I loved it so much x and the price was phenomenal, It was also the first time Ive been too full to finish lol x
Authentic Ethiopian cuisine which was superb. A quaint restaurant just above another takeaway shop; it had a family feel and we werenโt wrong - the decor was rustic and it smelt of the beautiful food that was being cooked. Compliments to the chef, and our server. You are both doing an amazing job, and weโll definitely be regularly visiting when we come to Manchester again. Thank you for showing us how to dine Ethiopian style!
Visited 3 nights back with my son and thought long and hard about whether this should be a 4 or 5. Service is fantastic, the people are so friendly. If you havent eaten Ethiopian cuisine or there before then theyre more than happy to give menu advice and practical advice on how to eat the dishes. Super polite, as my (15yr oldson said, the man couldnt stop saying thank you!The menu isnt massive and limited drinks but its a family set up and so different from many routine, even independent routine restaurants. No desserts, although both of us were so full we didnt ask and great value. Easy to miss but there is a sign.If its youre thing its an easy 5/5 (meand great value to boot. If eating with your fingers and spicy food isnt your thing then probably you shouldnt have chosen the place in the first instance so dont blame the restaurant which is why Ive leant towards a 5 over a 4. My son felt a 4 because its different but doesnt quite have the wow factor which is fair, but hes a harsh critic so Ive overruled as its my account! We both had a good time and utterly full.
Authentic Ethiopian food at reasonable prices. Theyโll serve it up hot and spicy if you prefer it that way! Server is always very courteous.
Amazing, authentic and affordable. Its a perfect oasis of Ethiopian food tucked above the madness of the gay district on the first level of the building. Highly recommend this for anyone wanting a quieter dinner thatll fill you and not break the bank
Delicious food and such a great service, the waiter was the most welcoming and lovely person ever. Also, incredibly good value for money.
Habesha is really amazing. The furniture is not as in smart dining but this is the whole point,..get immersed in authentic Ethiopian culture. Roast your own coffee beans before or after an injera meal. And the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend.
Thereโs no doubting the authenticity of a restaurant filled with Eritreans and Ethiopians. The menu is satisfyingly sparse and very home cooked in style. This is a place that you dog in with your hands with a disdainful glance at forks and knives. My only preference would be for an option to have a smorgasbord of Wot and Tibs when eating solo.
Very good service. We wonโt know how to eat the food properly without the guidance of the friendly staff. The chicken and beef are well flavored and the vegetables are really nice but the bread is too sour for us. The price is reasonable too.
Absolutely delicious food. It was busy (seems to be so at the weekendsbut you can have a chat and just eat and drink. Amazing prices for the quality of food and the staff are incredibly friendly. I would highly recommend a visit here. Its a little confusing to find if youve never been, but the spiral staircase in the takeaway downstairs leads you up onto the second floor with the restaurant. Open even if takeaway isnt, due to separate doors which is very handy.Would recommend to anyone. They have both veggie and meat options and the veggie options seem safe for vegan (do check before ordering!)We will surely be back and bringing friends to enjoy!
Absolutely love it. Food is amazing and in a really good price. 3 mains and a bottle of wine ยฃ36. Place is busy and there is only one host so you might be waiting a bit but the atmosphere is relaxed. Tables, glasses absolutely spotless.
Amazing food and service, I had an enjoyable Friday night. Reasonable price : )
Gets three stars instead of two because the staff were lovely. Otherwise the food is over hyped. The place is dingy.the curries are very bland. We ordered the lamb and beef dishes. The lamb one was alright. Make sure you visit the toilet before you visit as the toilets are from a horror movie.I dont understand the concept of injera(the dough or breadwhich they serve with the meal. The fermented taste just didnt agree with meWont visit again as the food just wasnt to my liking. And this is coming from a huge curry lover
An amazing gem in the gay village Manchester. Been going for years. The food is amazing and great value for money. Great service one of my favourite places to eat in Manchester. I love it.
One of my favourite places in Manchester to eat, top quality cooking from the small menu with at least two vegetarian options. Service is a bit more leisurely, but also there are only one or two staff serving an often bustling place, and its never been a problem. The staff are really helpful, charming and have lovely accents. Just a bit worried that it will get too many trendy people coming in soon spoiling the atmosphere and driving the prices up... the mains have recently gone up by 14%. Suggestion for the restaurant: keep the prices low but serve a little less injera with the meals - there is always so much we have to either leave some or can barely breathe afterwards, its such a shame to waste it.Interior is homely and relaxed and appears quite Ethiopian in style (I wouldnt know), with art and traditional looking decor. Only possible gripe is what someone else mentioned; that the injeras are not made from teff flour, which apparently is more authentic, but also healthier and gluten-free. They are made from a sour dough made with 70% rice flour and 30% wheat instead, still taste very nice! NB. Before and after pics show the only time we managed to not leave any injera behind :D
Best ethiopian restaurant in ManchesterGood food, small menu with excellente ethiopian food and price, beer st george cheap price,Please just try this food in HABESHA RESTAURANT, because some simple culinary is the bestnice placeGood HACCP and toilets is very cleanenjoy
really an interesting experience to try this new food! exotic flavour was unforgettable:the owners/waiters were all very nice and friendly! thumbs up
