Haba - Kosher restaurant in Jerusalem, Israel
Quaint spice/teas/beans/cereal store and coffeeshop. Tasty homemade spice-mix. Best sahlab in town! However, not the cleanest place and rather expensive. Cereal, spices and legumes sit on the floor with everyone brushing by them with their hands and clothes. Owner is not wearing a mask at all, even during the peak of covid19 pandemic
I wanted to eat a meal here, but its closed for renovations now. I didnt see notice of when they might reopen. There are many other places nearby to eat if you want to drop by and see if they are open (in case they arent open).
A nice experience.Pros: off the main road, next to train station, wide windows and lots of light, plenty of indoor seating incl an upstairs floor, lots of food options.Cons: no parking nearby, prices are expensive.
Delicious food, great attentive service.
Very delicious and thankful-!
Great food! On Fridays they only serve breakfast. It is usually crowded so you need to stand in line for 10 to 20 min but is worth it.
So delicious. Healthy, great presentation. Yum. Interesting seating options. Good service.
Very good place for breakfast or a quick lunch after a day at the market. I’ve read through the reviews, and I am not sure what could have prompted the less than favorable reviews. We had a pleasant experience with quick service and tasty food. The prices are reasonable. Recommended.
Huge breakfast with lots of various dips and condiments.Great value for money! The breakfast is so large that I even noticed three old ladies all sharing one breakfast :-)
Expensive with average quality and limited healthy options. The location is excellent. The lady at the cashier is very impolite and arrogant. She couldnt respond to our questions about the food in the glass and just ignored us.The cafe across the street is much better!!
Very slow service! I waited for 15 minutes and then simply left as no one took my order.
Update Nov 13 2019: a Roladin has just opened opposite! Much better to sit there.Just got a call to pick up my ma after she finished shopping in the market. She told me she was waiting outside Haba. Half an hour later I meet her at Haba and she still hadnt even been given a menu!!Original review: An all too typical food outlet in Israel, nice fresh food, good cuisine only let down by an outrageously apathetic staff with poor service, who couldnt give a damn and dont care who knows it.Update: left this place after trying to sit herr again today. Kept calling the waitress and eventually she just laughed as I left after 30min of no service.
Ive come here several times because its located very close to the shuk (marketand in walking distance from my apartment. It is a cute little cafe serving only dairy food. This time I ordered Ricotta Gnocchi and was very very happy that I did.
After reading in a reliable newspaper that during a recent sanitary inspection, the eggs found there were not suitable for human consumption and that there were even a few cases of listeria last summer, It seems to me that the only reasonable thing to do is to run away and tell the others about the danger...
Awesome Israeli breakfast! The service here was excellent. Our waitress always kept our water full. Staff was very friendly and made sure we were taken care of. Would definitely recommend to others. Great spot for a real Israeli breakfast experience
Green shakshuka is supposed to be served with bechamel sauce - thats how it is done everywhere. And what you get here is not shakshuka but 2 eggs with spinach for 60 nis.
Lovely pastries & cafe! The place cann be sometimes busy on Fridays and you might need to wait a few minutes to get your table but its worth it.
Mediocre food at a the price of a high end restaurant, for example I had poached eggs that werent runny at all. Also the service was lacking the forgot a few things and were slow to fix them.
Really nice relaxing restaurant off Jaffa- not there cheapest but great food. Good value for money!
Why bother paying more at the "Trattoria" when you can cross the rails and walk barely 30 meters to sample continually freshly baked burekas, rugelach and better.
We went there just for a coffee ☕️ . Espresso and cappuccino was great but service was awful. Waitress did not even smile. We had to ask twice for a bill even they were not so busy. Disappointed.
Tasty sweets worth trying while at the market
Well placed restaurant on Jaffa Road, Jerusalem. We enjoyed the food but the service was rather slow. The restaurant was terribly noisy with canned music. Why cant they try a little Mozart for a change? The waitress was very sweet and pretty. We ordered an expensive salmon dish because it was my birthday but she came back a whole five minutes later to tell me there was no fish on Sundays. Why didnt she know that already? So we chose an interesting sounding fried camembert cheese salad. It arrived 10 minutes later, very tasty but mainly lettuce, nuts and beetroot dressing, with only three pieces of camembert. We enjoyed it but the portions were small and I was still hungry. I called our waitress over but she said she couldnt speak to me just then in case she forgot her other orders.I waited five minutes and then I ordered the tortellini filled with chestnuts and mushrooms. Well, that was delicious, although a shade too al dente. With a shared creme brulee dessert the bill came to 175 ₪ including soft drinks but without coffee. There was a queue for the upstairs toilet.
A beutiful place, with a good menu. The place named after familys name, which owns several places in the Yehuda market (Mahanne yehuda). There are several places to seat: inside with a beautiful white place, outside on the Jaffa street, and outside towards the market. In the future the place will have a second floor, which I havet seen. The place is good for dates :).
Nice experience. We came midweek, we both had the eggs Benedict which we couldnt find on the English menu only in the Hebrew one and creme brulee for desert. The eggs Benedict was really tasty but super heavy and the creme brulee was heaven. The service was okay but there were not enough waiters for all the tables. We will come back mostly for the deserts
My traditional breakfast café whenever Im in Jerusalem since my first ever visit, without fail.
I had coffee and cake. The coffee was good, the cake mediocre. The service wasnt great. The food didnt look good, two people had food taken back.
Fabulous food. Great cafe in machane yehuda. Many varieties of Artisan bread. Typical pricing for this venue.
Very good breakfast place right in the heart of Jerusalem and at the end of the Machane Yehuda Market. They have good pastries and breakfast options. It can be crowded but the service is still okay. Good for small groups but can be hard for larger ones.
Bottom line: terrible service, somewhat pricey, the coffee and baked goods are great. We arrived around 8:30 on a friday, while the place was only half full. We waited half an hour for 3 coffes and 2 croissants while the place got busy. The staff seemed not to care at all besides one waitress who was running between the tables. One of us uad to leave so she took her coffee to go and somehow one croissants arrived before she left so she took it to go as well. The two of us left had to wait for the other croissant for some more time. Overall would.not recommend to sit at the place, but I will say that their coffee and croissants are great, although somewhat expensive.
Good food but very poor service. We were waiting 30 minutes for a table. The hostess went back home without forwarding any information and we kept on waiting. Finally we sat down, no forks nor knives were given. We only got the main meal without the extras which were meant to be part of the meal. The cups were very dirty as if it was already used and not cleaned. Ive asked for a new one and they forgot. Overall very poor appalling service and management. Not coming back until the management will change.
A coffee shop/restaurant with a choice of pastries and baked bread. We had juice and bokeks, which were ok, nothing special. Service was slow and our waitress didnt speak English, but understood fine when we pointed to the menu.
Very nice place for Friday mornings in the Shuk.Very crowded.Breakfast is ok, service is slow and not professional.
As many reviewers noted, service here is lacking. As a tour guide, its my job to treat my clients to special experiences, out of the ordinary food etc.. but all this is ruined if we are rushed or late for our next visit due to poor service. The restaurant is simply understaffed and until the owners lose business, they dont seem interested in fixing the problem. There are many fine restaurants in the Mahne Yehuda area, I suggest staying away from this restaurant until they fix their service issues.
I would not recommend anyone to come here. The service is terrible, the food is not that good and its over priced for what it is. We got there at 7:30 and were told they dont serve breakfast untill 8 so we ordered coffee and it took 10 minutes to you. When 8 came we had to chase the staff just to order and there was only 4 other tables, everyone seemed to have the same issue. They seemed to care more about the people coming to the counter for pastries then the people sitting down wanting food. When we finished eating we had to chase the staff again just to get the check. Do your self a favor and find another place the looks are deceiving.
We were there on one of Sucot days.the noise is unbearable you cant have a real conversation. Then the food which I didnt get after my companions finished their breakfast .and after asking many times where is it? Arrived coldSo there was a terrible service on top of itOne of the worst places I ever been to if not the worstDONT GO
Small menu, but every choice is delicious. Most of menu is Italian, vegetarian. One of the best Italian restaurant in the area of Mahane Yehuda Market.Prices is avarage. You should give it a try.
Stylish coffee bar and restaurant, great pastries and decent juices but the modern design makes it a good place.
Good morning. The smells from the coffee counter and from the bread sections color the breakfast inside - and outside you can seat in front of the busy street or at the back, near the vegetables vendors.
The hostess has 150 other tasks and never has time to sit customers. Waitresses do not like climbing the stairs so if all 7 tables are full they wont let the hostess sit people on the upper floor. If you try to speak with the kashier or any of the 8 people behind the counter every single time they very aggressively tell you to wait for the hostess and then stand behind the counter arms crossed watching people walk by the window. Great food, some good waiters, always understaffed, rude cashier, hostess and support staff are horrendous
Very unfriendly to its waiters, this place always working in on emergency alike athmosphere. The foods come late and cold, you waiting for meals just half hour, as on for bill. At the same time, the location is very good as the design of the place. Chairs doest comfortable, but where is the kids chairs. Good conditory.
Had some food here after walking around the local market. Food was lovely, but service was suboptimal. Slow, unprofessional, chaotic. Come here for the food, but dont expect swift or efficient service.
A bakery and café, serves excellent fresh sandwiches and good coffee. A nice variety of savory and baked goods. It is expensive and very crowded most times. The Shakshuka is highly recommended. Service is a little slow and low on staff. Location is great for however enters from Yaffo street, or from inside the market.
Pretty decent Italian-style place. Many vegetarian options. The atmosphere is nice and the place is conveniently located close to the market. We got the lasagna and it was delicious
Convenient place to sit in if youre in the market area. They have nice salads and tea infusions. The area upstairs is very cozy. There is free WiFi and the bathrooms are not too bad either.
Nice bakery and cafe. Bad service.. the host told us you can sit. Then some guy just asked what about us.. she let them sit down.. and then stopped responding when we asked to be seated where she said we can sit. She continued to sit more couples until we were fed up by asking so many times if we can sit where she wanted us to sit in the first place. Her answer was just move away from the door and i have more clients. We just left. It just amaze me how great food can be spoilt by such worse service. Train your staff. Amateurs.
Very poor service. Bread was brought last, after eggs were already cold. All my requests to bring it so I could start eating didnt help. Waiters attitude was, Ill bring it when I get around to it.
The place use to be one of the historic Pita Bakery of the market with the hip new Vibe of the city they open anther place that is kind a fancy Bakery to a coffee place cool idea. But guys your in Jerusalem not in Paris. the vibe worng the service is bad and slow. And the food isnt in the level of what the place chearge.
Food is mediocre at best. Horrible service! We had a piece of gum in our napkin and the waitress did not even apologize. She also refused to believe me that I did not receive my coffee.
Fantastic food. The place does get a little crowded sometimes, which should be no surprise given how nice it is. The black americano was a bit watery.
