Bare-bones cafeteria serving Indian & Pakistani eats that claim a loyal taxi-driver following.
Very good authentic Pakistani taste
The food is okay to be honest. Very greasy and just .. I think I need a detox. I was trying new food and this was definitely not the greatest choice.
Horrible experience and horrible food. Felt cheated. I ordered the two meat special and I got one meat and two veggies. When I told him the second meat was missing he said that he cannot change my order because he already served it with two veggies. Why did he ask me for a second veggie when he knew I ordered two meats seconds before? The potatoes were old and gross and the kabob may as well have been beef jerky. So dry. The restaurant across the street was way better. That place had nonstop people coming in but this place only had two parties seated at lunch time. No wonder. Yes I actually went to another restaurant right after. I only ate half the kabob and left the restaurant after paying. $16 for tiny portion of 2 veg and 1 kabob that was clearly old plus coke. Rip off! I have video. Never again!
Food is great as always and the biryani is always on point from years 👌
Taste was good staff was fine but not very clean and hygiene environment to eat. They need to improve their work and hygiene standard.
Great food. Authentic chicken biryani. The place has no ambiance and has a weird smell, so I recommend doing take out
Amazing, flavorful food with large portions at very good prices. Reminded me of Ramadan food you get in the streets of India. The server and staff are friendly but dont care too much about mixing the curries/dishes a bit, specifically I saw a chicken leg in the dal (lentilcurry. We got the meat platter ($12and our favorites were the lamb seekh kebab and beef masala curry. If you want tasty food, you wont regret going here but if you are specific about how each item should be, then it wont meet your expectations.
excellent food at seriously good prices. excellent value
The buffet is not available anymore. For meat platter and Chai, they charged me 15 dollars. Chai was from kettle and had the kettle taste. Food was spicy as per norm but nothing extra ordinary.
* Food is good but not fresh* Customer service is just OK* Price is just reasonable (food with sweet for 2 persons 34 bucks)* Cleanliness is ZERO
Native diners are hard to please but this place has serve for almost 20 years . I love the food in its most authentic, hole in the wall kinda way. If the owner is present , his name is Qari Bhai, say hello and let him serve you if you are not familiar with the menu and I promise you , it will be a treat. Too many great things to mention from the menu but it’s the consistency that matters 💯.Favorites: Biryani , Qorma , Lentils , Spinach +++
Very nice food and very good price.Owner polite and respectful.
Zero star - Full of Disappointment to going this restaurant its not even a restaurant actually it’s a really dirty and filthy place where ever ur eyes go u will get infected with disgust from top to bottom this place is completely against of health rules and regulations . Technically this place should be closed .
A bit oily and greasy food. Average taste. Good location.
Pro: 1.Very tasty2. Inexpensive.Con: 1. The staff can be slow at getting your food ready.2. The dining space and environment was dirty (but you could also say down to earth). We saw a dead bug floating on the water in the water bucket, which was disgusting and unsanitary.3. The staff’s accents could be hard to understand sometimes so had a bit of difficulty communicating the item we wanted to order.
Very bad restaurant ever i seen my life beforeExtremely oily food and location
First Indian Row here clearly had taken a toll after the pandemic, its not very lively even with students returning to nearby colleges. The food looks great on the post. When I went there, nearly every fast food place were occupied by men <okay>. This joint was plain rude. Not one person but all of the staff just royally ignored. They saw me standing there, not hello, what you like...just dilberately acted like the were blind. No wonder the store down the block was getting more business. I left, I dont spend my inflation rate wage on places that dont welcome all clients. No one has to like a customer, just serve them, they pay and move along. I dont have a deep love for Indian/South Asian cuisine, nor Halal or like attitude; so, I can wait for a long time to go visit another Little India neighborhood.
I came here to see what they have (I love exploring). Food is greasy and not too fresh. I didnt find any meats without bones-in. Service was not the most impressive. If you are just looking for an inexpensive place to bite on a "ok" quality food then its a good choice.
I will start out by saying the food has flavor however thats about it. Its so disappointing to see that they make the food in bulk and then microwave your order in front of you. I have never seen this in my life..... When you order food at a restaurant you expect to get hot fresh food.
This place used to have great food, as of lately last 3 times I have ordered food was stale and horrible tasting!!
The worst food. We the whole family had food poisoning. The restaurant is selling stale food which as a result made us all sick.
Too many desi dishes to choose from, they tasted ok, the place was too crowded.
Worst place to eat ever in my entire life. Price might looks cheap but very unhealthy place to eat. I better pay $20 somewhere else than paying $10 for unhealthy food.
A great place to quickly try a bunch of South Asian dishes, as they prepare the items in bulk, and serve by plate. Items include Indian, Bangladeshi, and Pakistani favorite dishes. The taste is pretty legit, the do not compromise on spice or masala. All items smell and taste just like if they were made at home. The restaurant itself looks very old, messy, and unhygienic. Restroom is not up-to the standard. The uninspiring look and feel of the restaurant diminishes it’s quality of product somewhat.
Bad experience...we ordered 4/5 dishes but not delicious any one...ready made nan..poor service ...too much dirty....just waist of my 100 $...
The food tastes terrible. The biriyani was just plain rice with food coloring, the Achar chicken did not have any Achar. The chicken pieces had barely to no meat on them.
Only place in NYC you can eat for less than $10 and be in a food coma with flavorful food. Inside wont be pretty, maybe not the best tasting, but cant beat value and its still tasty
No comments always good food good service and friendly
Awful experience. We were visiting Manhattan and decided to try them based on reviews. We called them before going there if they have sitting space available for a group of 11 and they were very promising that they have everything available. We had kids with us. After shopping and long walk we get there, there was no space to sit. We asked the sever 4 to 5 times but they will not answer. How rude! We had kids who were extremely tired and hungry. We left for some other restaurant.
I always order a platter with vegetables and meat that also comes with Naan bread. This place is one of the best for Indian food in the city. So delicious and filling. Its also reasonably priced.
The food is good (deserve five star for it but giving four star rating overall). However, the inside of the resturent can be improved in terms of decoration, service, and cleanliness. The resturent is in the city so finding parking sometimes can be difficult. Overall, food is really good but atmosphere can be improved.
This place is SO DAMN GOOD. I never review restaurants, but this one impressed me. I think this is legitimately one of the best deals on delicious food you can get in NYC. For $10 you can get a platter that comes with Naan, Rice, a meat and a veggie side. I would recommend the chicken karahi with lentil side. The flavors are rich, but not imposing. The only thing I would wish was different is if they used chicken with more meat. Most of the bites were bone at cartilage. Otherwise, 100% I would recommend to check this spot out if you are in NYC and are looking for a large portion of tasty food for a fair price, something that is rare to find in the city.
As-salaamu alaykum dear Sisters and Brothers,If you are visiting or just moved to New York City for work and looking for some decent and flavourful halal food, this is one of those places that serve decent food at just the right price. This is the closest you can get to Indian food and biryani and tandoori items. They also have a decent selection of non vegetarian gravies to go with your rotis and biryani. The staff and service is very good. Eventhough though I have not visited the US for years, I can vouch for this place as it used to be my favourite haunt on weekends. The owners are very generous with servings of rice for dining in and take out.The ambience is very homely .all tables are close to each other as its a small restaurant. Its very popular among locals and visitors.
Food and tea were great. The staff was very nice and their prices are just right!
The BEST spot for brown cuisine. I am myself not very acquainted with the name of the dishes this place offers. Trust the staff, let them pick for you and you will not be disappointed. Apparently, the to-go place for taxi drivers. I hope the buffet will re-open soon!
Amazing indian restaurant with a classic vibe. Best doodth patti, samosa chaat and Chicken biryani. Would recommend
Their food taste good. The give generous portion and staffs are really nice. Imagine getting all of that for $11.97
Ordered their special halwa puri and added samosas. I was delivered stale halwa and samosas. Ruined my lunch! Hope I won’t get sick.
Haandi serves delicious Pakistani food at lower prices than you would expect in Manhattan. I ordered the chicken haleem with one piece of naan. It came with salad and I drank the self-service tea. The haleem had an authentic flavor. The only thing that would have made it perfect was sliced ginger.
Being from South East Asia, I grew up with Indian cuisine. I discovered Haandi through research and acumen. You have to follow your gut, but really the guts and noses of so many local cab drivers in NYC! I chose a Chicken Tikka (was so craving thatand a chicken Biryani. I also had an order of ocra vegetables. Unfortunately I was too late and all the samosas were sold out. It was takeout (or deliveryonly at the moment, which worked for me. Helped myself to a free chai latte while I waited. Tip: since you would be bringing it home, I told the nice lady I rather heat the food myself on a stove before she zapped it in the microwave.I have to say it was as authentic as it gets. The chicken tikka was spicy enough for me and tender. The biryani was superb. Altogether a great meal that did not break the bank. Highly highly recommended for those seeking comfort food, or a teleportation portal to Pakistan, India.
The beef nihari and chicken tikka were great. The naan needs some work. It’s thick/tough, I usually end up tearing it in half horizontally so it’s easier to eat with! If they can make it thinner and crispy, and less dry, that would make it a lot better. Also got a beef seekh kabob, which was not bad.
This is a popular food place for people from South East Asia. I had the chicken seekh kabab, Dal gosht (mutton with lentilsand chai (South East Asian tea with milk). I was particularly let down by the tea as many people regard it as one of the best $1 tea in nyc. It did not have the creamy texture which is a staple of the traditional chai. The Dal gosht was okay in that the gravy had a lot of depth and the mutton was particularly tender. The only downside was that it did not have proper seasoning. The chicken seekh was really good and given the one dollar difference between 1 or 2 Kababs, I opted for the latter. It was packed with spices and had the perfect bit of seasoning that one can hope for. Easily, the best thing that I had that day.
No frills Halal Indo Paki restaurant located midtown Manhattan on Lexington Ave. It is an old joint, run down, food is decent. I am sure it used to be great, but over time a lot of good things go down in quality. Prices are very reasonable and quantity is fare. Had the non veg combo which came with 2 dishes, rice, naan, salad and a veg item of your choice. The seekh kabab ordered separately was good.
The Paaya was excellent! Goes well with sesame butter naan bread.
Im not a big fusion fan in general, but I do love Mexican fusion, and also Indian fusion. So theres a fairly good chance that I would enjoy this place.I had already had lunch, so just ordered a chicken tikka roti to try. At $3.75, it is great value. Tasted excellent (both the chicken, and the other ingredients worked well together). And there is a reasonable amount of food for the price... I think 3 of these would suffice for lunch.$10 minimum order for credit card. Theres a relatively small seating area.
The lunch buffet deal was super good. For $11 you can eat as much as you like from 22 lunch items.
Large variety of precooked veg and non veg Indian/Pakistani food available to select with couple of desserts. Service is good and fast. Mango lassi is freshly made
That moment when youre walking home from work and its late and you are so hungry... Oh this was exactly what I needed. I am coming back here every time I have work in the city in this area. Fantastic, authentic food. Made with love. Such an incredible spice explosion on my tongue. I dont know what I ordered because I told them to surprise me. It was damn good. Friendly staff great service. Two thumbs up.
Food is awesome here. Service was fast. I order lamb nihari and kheer. Both items were delicious.Price was also reasonable considering the food quality.
Reviews took me here but the food killed it for me. Had high hopes considering the large desi population in the area. So what went wrong? Ordered chicken karahi and paratha. Karahi wasnt made to order, if thats too much to ask, at least put it in the saucer pan and heat it up to give it some authenticity. Nope. Why the hassle when you got a microwave sitting up there. Put it in there and boom, karahi ready in 2 mins. Nah, I dont think so. And heres the funny part, this mouth watering karahi will cost you $10. But you thought your misery was over, not yet, you still got paratha to be savoured. This roti with some oil on the outside is called paratha in the terms of a hardcore desi restaurant. You gotta be kidding me. Wait for it, this thing disguised under the label paratha will cost you a wasted $3. You might ask, how was the taste. Do you really wanna know? Imagine eating a microwaved karahi, you get the idea. Ambience and environment were never the metrics in my consideration since reviews were clear on this but the 300 something reviews that gave it 4-5 stars mustve really liked microwaved food!
