Best part of my short trip to München! Loved the loud music and atmosphere, the food was excellent. I dont usually like beer in the States, but I enjoyed their Hofbräuhaus Original. Vielen dank! Pro tip: you go in and sit anywhere and waiters are assigned to sections, so they will come and find people who dont have anything yet.

Always a great experience. This is the third one I have been to and they are all a lot of fun. When visiting Munich for Oktoberfest, we obviously had to go to the original Hofbrauhaus, and it was certainly worth the trip.

When you imagine what you must do while in München and where you must go - this is the place!Friendly staff, perfect food (literally everything is way above averageand fresh beer.The whole place is clean despite numerous people in there…You won’t regret it, just go here! 😊

Food is okey, the beer is very big. The pretzel is big. Its one of the oldest beer company here in Munich. Its good experience if you want to try a traditional German beer hall atmosphere.Its a bit chaotic to find a table but with persistent you will eventually find a table and if you are lucky you will able to meet some nice people from around the world sharing your table

This place is massive, laud and super packed even for a Monday night. It is somewhat controlled chaos in there so it was not even clear how to get a table. Food was decent but the beer was great. We did witness the food coming not together it was so far apart that we cancelled the dish. There is a lady that walks around with a basket of large pretzels for 4.7 euro each. It is fun to buy but they are not that good honestly. The band plays the same song over and over again every 10-15min, luckily it is a good song. Servers are dedicated to a single table so don’t bother asking another server a question as they will just ignore you.

If you are visiting Munich and you love beer and food you really have to visit here! Always a place that is super busy but the beer is fantastic and comes in the huge steins and there is a nice variety of really good Bavarian food to go with it 🙌

The restaurant is impressively huge and very popular. We arrived right at 11:00 and there was already a gathering of people outside waiting to enter. We went upstairs to the terrace, which was less hectic, although a lot of the tables were reserved, so we had to search for a free one.At opening, you can only order drinks and some food from a limited section on the menu. If you want a main for lunch, you’ll have to wait until noon.The food was average and my fish was unfortunately underseasoned. I quite enjoyed the potato crust, though. I think the hype of this place comes from the ambience and social experience of drinking with your friends in a large dining hall setting. We don’t drink, so it was a different experience for us. We did enjoy the band that played music in the courtyard, though.Service ranged from indifference to cold. The tables around us were getting their food before us even though we had ordered well in advance, but when I queried the waitress, I was given an icy response that the food would come if I had ordered it. I also saw the same waitress later shrug at a group of people who asked where they could find seating at a time when the restaurant had gotten quite busy.There is a gift shop on site should you want some souvenirs.

It’s got to be done! Big loud beer hall. Just turn up and take a seat, order a litre of beer and some food and enjoy. Cool band playing and a great atmosphere! Food was okay - but the atmosphere makes up for it.

One of the best tourist traps Ive been to. We made reservations one month away for a early Saturday evening dinner. Liter beers, fried pork chops, pretzels, and sickling pig. Lots of food options. The live music is real reason to book a dinner here. Every 10-15 minutes they play classic Bavarian songs & one can sit back with your beers, enjoy the tunes.Place gets quite busy so get your order in as soon as you can.Definitely a must visit if you are in Munich on holiday.

Typical Bavarian pub, it’s situated far away from the Munich city. It offer many bavarian dishes and many typical beers of the place. The place is very nice, in fact you need to reserve a table because is always full. Friendly and helpful staff. Value for money in the average with the locals in the area.Recommended!

I know it, you know it too, it is sooo touristy, however it is a must when visiting Munich! Don’t miss it! Can take a bit until you find a table, don’t be shy to share one. Great beer, good traditional food, good fun atmosphere.

Tourists must be careful of the scam that this place runs. The servers will add items to your bill and just charge you, and refuse to give you a receipt, even when its printed out. They will tear it up and pretend that there was no receipt.I saw one server do it to the person in front, and it happened to me: after confirming the list of items, he deftly added 1 more item to the order and charged them. The guy paid and left.My turn, my server asked me "2 food items only?", and he quickly added 1 item to the bill (I was alerted and watched carefully), (1demanded a tip and (2billed me the full amount. After paying, I did a quick calculation of my 2 items, I was certain that I was over charged, and requested for a receipt. He insisted there was no receipt (with other hand crumpling up what should be my receipt), that he did not overbill me, and to show the receipt will take 10 min, then he tried to ignore me. I insisted, and in the end he pulled me to another corner, scolded me insisting that he was right, and showed me bill. When I pointed out the extra item, he feigned surprised and immediately pulled out his wallet to return me the price of the extra item and the tip, saying that he even return me extra for his mistake.Imagine, they add 20% to every bill by charging for items that were never ordered, and the tourists dont check their bills.That said, the atmosphere was excellent, but the food was only so-so, nothing to rave about unless its your first time eating Bavarian food. The band was fun too.

Definitely a must experience in Munich. Only mishap was that we had a reservation but there wasn’t really anyone who knew what to do with our reservation. We kept being told find the manager, yet no one knew where the manager was. A little bit more instruction to go with our reservation would’ve been nice. Food and beer were more than worth it

Probably THE best pork knuckle I’ve ever had. Service was wonderful, beers were chilled and the atmosphere was very Bavarian. My parents (as touristsloved everything about the beer garden and restaurant.

I wish I could give 0 star for the service. It’s almost unbearable to stay there. 4 star for the atmosphere here, very nice outdoor and upstairs seating, there someone dress in traditional costume outfit bringing you freshly baked pretzels. 3 stars for the food.I understand the place is huge and busy, but some of them are just plain rude, when you try to get their attention when they walk pass by, they just ignore you like you are invisible. Slowest service ever, unorganized, like other reviewers said you need to beg for their attention.They open at 11am, but their kitchen doesn’t make most of dishes until 12, I arrived at 11 sharp, but it took them at least 20 mins to serve. I was informed the pork knuckle can only be order after 12 by different waiter. At 12 I saw people already got their pork knuckles on the table, when I was dying to look for my new waiter to order one, and I wasn’t even sitting at the corner where it’s hidden, so how did those people get the order before? And when I finally get their attention asked question nicely, they just rolled their eyes as if I was an annoying customer.The pork knuckle with potato was very tasty, however the knuckle itself is actually very small, it’s good for one person, but smaller compare to other places.It’s a cool historical restaurant, but definitely a tourist trap, it’s one of those you see it have tons of review and you think you must to visit and you can say “oh that very famous restaurant! yea I’ve been there. “, otherwise if you wanna be treated with respect, have a good German meal, there are plenty of places provide that, because it’s basic, especially these dishes, nothing special! If you just wanna have a check mark on your list of must visit, you can come have a beer, or just walk straight in wondering around taking pictures, you will be fine, you really don’t have to eat here, nothing extraordinary with their food and welcoming service.

It is recommended that you get here as early as possible if you do not have a reservation. My wife and I were able to easily grab a table when we turned up at opening time, but others who came a little later struggled.The food menu is limited until midday when the whole menu becomes available.Prices are pretty reasonable considering the fame/tourist trap notoriety of the place.The quality of the food was fine - on par with other German cuisine available in and around Munich. I was only in Munich for the night, which is awful, because I could have easily come to Hofbräuhaus a few more times. Feel like youve had enough carbs with the beer? Why not throw a pretzel the size of your head into the mix! Seriously, everything about this experience felt very authentic, and the architecture / decor is worth the trip on its own. 10/10 experience, and everyone was just in a great mood. I guess its hard not to be?

Its an unique place, definitely worth seeing. It has an amazing architecture and interior design with an unique atmosphere! Ive been there as a curious tourist only, so I dont know about the service, but I am sure it must be great.

I visited this place twice during my stay in Munich. My friend told me that it is considered as a tourist spot so it is really busy.A lot of tables because the place is very big. Beers that they have are good too.Atmosphere, Service and ambiance is good. Theres also a band playing. Very nice experience. Food is good and serving is reasonable. I will definitely comeback here when I visit Munich again.

Delicious roasted chicken and warm potato salad. The music authentic but loud. If you want to visit, get a table outside a little further from the band. Fun Bavarian ambiance.

A must visit when in Munich.We went here at 19.00 and did not leave until they closed the whole place!A traditional German place for all ages, live music, big glasses, good food - a lot of different seating arrangements depending on what you want your visit at this place to be.I still don’t understand how the staff manages to carry 7+7 one liter jugs of beer in one go… without a tray 🥲

Really enjoy people watching at this place. Sat out on the patio where everything was fast paced. The beer was good but the food could have been better. I had the roast pork with dumpling. The dumpling was horrible and the pork over cooked. My wife had the chicken which was very good. I am giving it four stars out of respect for its history, atmosphere and beer.

A huge beer garden which can accommodate hundreds of guests. They serve their own beer apart from other drinks. A traditional beer house with central open space, terrace and in room dining. Very efficient and fast staff. They serve the beer very fast. A very lively place to enjoy beer.

One of the most traditional places to eat in Munich. Food is good, but service is a bit mad. Waiters are great, but the place is always crowded so they barely manage. If you are ok with that, and are not in a rush, give it a go.

If you’re in Munich, you definitely have to stop by here for a beer (or three). The atmosphere is amazing.The beers are cold and there is a pretty nice selection. Made a dinner reservations 1 month prior.Ground level was the livelier place full of atmosphere and with live band. Level 1 was the quieter one.Upon reaching, was directed to 1 level upstairs. So we didnt managed to hear the live bands performance and enjoy the atmosphere at ground level.As directed by the staff to the table, another staff came over 5 mins later telling us we we couldnt seat there. I told him i made a reservation and we were told to seat at that table so he acknowledged. Menu given was in German but we were Asians. 😅 have to asked for English menu.Probably because Level 2 is not as crowded, food came pretty fast. Food tasted average and we tasted the best in other parts of Germany, this restaurant isnt that great in terms of food. Beer tasted good everywhere in Germany.When we were given the bill, we saw an error of a drink we did not order. Waiter says we could just offset the 4.40 euro. We gave the exact amount for the total bill and the waiter commented: "Just like a shop". 🙄Typically, we always give extra as tips. But luckily we did not tip this restaurant because we feel that a restaurant so established should have a efficient and effective controlled system to handle big crowd. It seem like they cant handle and their attitude is terrible.Would rather go elsewhere with even better food and friendly staffs.

We decided to try this restaurant for his fame. We were highly disappointed unfortunately. The quality could have been better, the meat was hard, the schnitzel small, and the schweinshaxe extremely salty. The location is very nice and the people friendly, just expecting more for that price.

Superb experience of the beer hall in Germany. Takes you back to where they used to be. Traditional music playing live in the background with intervals. Food was fantastic even though its one monster food hall. We always worried about food standards when they are serving big groups. The capacity might have been for a 1000.... the pork knuckle was so succulent and well roasted. The roast chicken was also tender. Menu boasted of home butchery and bakery... which seems to be so as the food is really good. 1 litre beer are served as everyone make merry in this wondrous place.

If you want to try Bavarian food for a reasonable price while listening to real Bavarian music, this is the perfect place for you.The atmosphere is special, the dishes are delicious and the service was very attentive.I tried the roasted chicken and the dark beer and they were really good.I highly recommend this restaurant.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Try your best to sit in the courtyard! The pretzel 🥨 and beer 🍺 were fantastic and the food was just okay.Don’t be too hard on them, I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to keep all of this food ready to go.Always ask for a seasonal menu and try the seasonal beer! The restrooms are very nice.Put a napkin over your nice clothes if you are eating a dish with gravy!

A must visit when in Munich. The beer is good, the serving staff… entertaining. We had a waitress that came across rude at the beginning but warmed up very quickly. It seems she just didn’t like tourists yelling at her and taking tables without asking… which is fair. We had a great time.

Found a table fairly easily on a busy Sunday evening. Service was quick considering it was very crowded. Beer was excellent and we loved the food (family of 4, with 5 and 11 year old). Got the pork knuckle and some veal sausages, and we all enjoyed our meals. The pork knuckle was large in portion. Live band started playing, and we enjoyed clapping and cheering to good music. Great atmosphere inside, it was very loud and entertaining.

I would say overall a positive experience a very large fast paced beer hall. The service was prompt the Veal and Schnitzel in the pictures was fine. The 1 litre stein beer is always fun, and the place is certainly lively with the Bavarian band. Therefore, certainly no issues for us. However, it can get very loud on occasions, which may not be for everyone.

Hamburgs most central and largest city beer garden also opens here regularly in spring - a must for anyone who wants to enjoy the warm sun with a cold beer. Lively tavern atmosphere and cozy beer garden flair - thats what the Hofbräuhaus stands for with its southern German, middle-class and sophisticated cuisine: from original Munich white sausages to roast pork to original Austrian and Swabian delicacies!

One of the highlights of my trip to Munich! Amazing place! Huge one with plenty of tables but… be quick. On Saturday it’s getting crowded as soon as it is open! Plenty of locals, local food, local beer and local music! Most probably you will be seated with other people so it’s a good opportunity to get know some new people. Food? The pork belly was one of the best things I have had since a long time! OMFG - that was super tasty! One thing to remember - be patient! They have hundreds of people to be served around the clock since opening till the end so be understanding for the staff!

Good spot if you want to grab a quick beer or wine. Not a foodie spot. If you want a shank ask if it’s just slices of meat. Food came out Luke warm and over salted. Based on the appearance of the food I could tell it was under the lamp for a while before it was brought out.

The food was delicious, our group of 31 had the sausage and sauerkraut meals, with a creamy potato soup and pretzels and a bavarian cream w berries for dessert. It was so delicious. And the service was fast and impeccable, they were working as a team to get the job done.We were also delighted with music from the band. They played 4 or 5 songs for us and seemed enthusiastic everytime we clapped for them. This was our 1st time there and we enjoyed it immensely.

Hofbräuhaus Munchen is one of the places to visit if you are in Munich. I had a good time there, however, I had a feeling that the place is really touristic 🙂 Dishes, I ordered, were tasty, service was relatively quick and waitress was friendly, band played some German melodies and beer was great. So, I enjoyed my visit. The only issue was that there was a mark of a lip stick on my glass 🧐

Fabulous place, everything is very characteristic, the food is delicious, we had the Pork Knuckle, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, the side of potato is a bit sweet. We also had a Pork Schnitzel, which was a little small, but also delicious, and the side of potatoes was also very good. The Wheat Beer was the best Ive had. There was a band playing local music. The waiter spoke good English, there was also a menu in English so it was very easy to order.

So happy that we finally went here! And we will have many returns. The beer is absolutely amazing, the dunkel tastes like caramel and the food is so good. Not to mention the traditional vibe going on its really a fun pace to hang out.

This is such an amazing and authentic German restaurant with huuuuge seating area. Their ambiance is fantastic and pretty much gives me ancient historical vibes. There was live music here and everything was so pleasant.We tried their Original Hofbräuhaus beer, it was the best. We also had our dinner here and I must say, food isn’t that great. I think I have had better Spätzle compared to this one here. Honestly, this place is crowded most of the times but finding a seat to enjoy the evening shouldn’t be a problem.Staffs are super friendly and I’d say beers are worth it. I really enjoyed visiting this place.

You have to go at least for the German ambiance. The architecture, decor, and live music is amazing. The place is huge and crowded. Be ready to share a table with others if you want to be seated in a timely manner. The original beer was great, the food not so much. It was cool to see a girl come around selling pretzels from a basket. Don’t waste your money like I did (€4), they were cold and hard. At least go have a few beers and enjoy time with your friends and family.

This place was nothing but a ton of fun. I don’t even drink beer, but I did here and loved it. The air is very energetic. The food is really good. Most of the time the service is good. And once the band strikes up you really want to join in all the fun. You definitely have to stop in for a visit. Get a giant beer and a pretzel. And make some new friends

Quite touristy as an experience but still worth a visit if you happen to be in Munich. You can buy the giant pretzel from the girls walking around in traditional costumes for €4.5 and enjoy a beer and some sausages. Throughout the day there’s a band with live music, which adds to the ambience.
