Spare, simple establishment serving homestyle Korean dishes for eat-in or takeout.
We stopped for lunch and all 4 of us tried different dishes. Long story short there were 4 empty plates a short time later. Maybe not the best Korean food Ive ever had, but no complaints at all.
Beware if you’re vegetarian and order for pickup…I placed a pickup order over the phone and clarified several times that my family was vegetarian and that I wanted a vegetarian bibimbop and I asked whether the mandu (fried dumplingswere vegetarian. When I got home to enjoy my meal, I found a heap of beef on my bibimbop, and I’m almost certain there was minced pork in the mandu. When I called the restaurant, I asked if there was pork in the mandu and the employee said “no, only vegetables.” When I asked why my bibimbop had beef in it, she stated “I wasn’t there when the food was packed. Just pick it out.” I rarely leave poor reviews, but this was unacceptable. I love Korean food and was hopeful this would be a new go-to. Absolutely avoid.
Used to be customer with family for 12 years. Employee didn’t know I understood their dialect, and proceeded to belittle me and other customers. Idk if this is a new employee or new owner but I’d beware, extremely discriminatory.
Hana is excellent. Love the spicy ramen!!! 🍜
Was reminded today... Why I always go back.. the food is excellent
May 2022 ~ The original owners and recipes are here again!!! Supposedly they came back in Aug 2021. I had been coming here since the early 90s and missed their cooking, when they decided to retire. I had only been here a few times after that, but it wasnt the same. Im definitely coming back with the kids and rest of the extended family and friends. Im adding pics from todays meal. Spicy chicken wings, spicy pork, spicy octopus, and kalbi (Korean beef short ribs).Sept 2020 ~ Havent been to Hana in a very long time. We used to go regularly for over 30 years. New owners from what I could see. Glad to see Hana still in business.Ordered the Korean chicken wings, spicy pork, and bibimbap with beef. Not quite the same as prior taste but still very good! We will definitely go back and check out more of their menu.
Excellent , One of the best Places to Eat Korean Food , all delicious!
What a treat! Delicious and quick. I would highly recommend.
Favorite Korean restaurant in southeast Michigan. Owned by a super friendly couple. This restaurant has the most authentic Korean food
Delicious, friendly, quick service! I went with my family around 4 pm on a Friday and there was just one other family. The outside looks a little run down, but the inside was nice and clean. The waitress was very nice and attentive. I got the japchae and my brother and mother both got the bibimbap. The amount of food was generous and we took home leftovers. The waitress was even kind enough to put our leftovers in the to-go box herself. The prices are very reasonable. However, they use mung bean spouts in their bibimbap, which is our only complaint. All in all, I would definitely go again!!
Great little restaurant with good food and friendly staff. The food was delicious and well prepared and tasty. I would definitely stop in here for another bite.
Food was pretty good and authentic. They had options on the menu that are rare to find like fish egg soup as well as homey dishes like bibimbap and leaned a little further from the kbbq self grill style. However the kimchi and banchan werent great and it took over three hours from ordering to paying the check for two people. Service could be improved.
Have seen this place around for years and after I moved back to MI I had to try this place…and let me tell you how glad I am that I did!I’ve tried several places around Ann Arbor and this has been the best and most authentic I could find.I usually call my order in and then pick up, I be never had a miscommunication or confusion about my order, nor am I waiting for very long.Food has always been delicious with layers of flavor.Plenty of indoor seating, well lit and clean place.I would have no hesitation recommending Hana!!
Lovely place with the two aunties running things out front. Makes you feel like youve gone home and want to be spoiled.I got the mandu and the Gopchang-jeongol (beef small intestine stew). Both were great, and the beef intestine was clean and tasted great. The banchan was good. I especially liked the sweet marinated potatoes cubes. I also liked the big radish cubes kimchi.Menu seems to have gotten smaller. So mostly just staple dishes nowadays.
They were vary lovely and respectful and I got the bulgogi that was the best I’ve had, seasonings was amazing and I asked the lady for recommendations and they recommended the pork kimchee that was lovely, they also pack all left overs for you that is a vary nice courtesy 10/10 will go again :)
Great food and friendly staff. I’ve been eating here for over 25 years and it’s my favorite Korean restaurant. I stopped coming after the original owners sold the place, but they are back after 5 years and the food is as good as I remember it being before they left. My goto dishes are the beef bulgogi and the chapchae. Anytime I eat these dishes at any other Korean places I compare it to theirs, which isn’t even close most of the time. I’ve tried most of the things on their menu and it’s all good; especially their Kalbi, spicy chicken, Kimchi soup and chicken wings. If you like Korean food you need to give this place a try. It’s kinda out of the way, but it’s way better than any Korean restaurant in Ann Arbor.
Bi bim bob so good and Kimchi damn delicious.
The BEST Korean restaurant. If you’re in the mood for GREAT food, this is the choice. If you have never tried Korean food and you’re considering it… you’ll never be able to go anywhere else. For 20 years we’ve drove almost an hour just to eat here. The ORIGINAL OWNERS are back. After not going for a few years since it changed hands, we tried again tonight, and it was probably the best surprise since COVID began. For a long time, Hanas was the only Korean restaurant I had ever gone to, so I figured everywhere would be the same quality and taste… I’d stop wherever Bibimbap and Kalbi were on the menu.. BUT.. There hasn’t been another Korean restaurant NEARLY as good.
Do NOT order online from them. You will be out over 60 dollars. I was just screwed by them. I went in to grab my order and they said they have no order from me and that they dont do online ordering. The lady was very rude and told me to leave and its not their problem. Was a loyal customer for the last 2 years. NEVER going back .
New owners. The spicy tofu used to be delicious and now it is like not very good mapo tofu (it is now soft tofu with szechuan pepper, carrots, bell pepper not fried tofu with zucchini in a gochujang and black bean sauce as it is on the menu).I also had a difficult experience ordering. I was hung up on when I asked about bell peppers (I have an allergy). I then ordered online. When I came to pick up my food, they told me they didnt have online ordering, after Id already paid online and received confirmation. After looking at the menu together the owner said they would make the food I ordered. I asked for no bell peppers again, got home and welp.. tons of them.
I ordered the Bi Bim Bop. It was delicious and very filling. I have visited at least four other Korean restaurants in the Ann Arbor area. Of them all, Hana prepared the biggest serving of Bi Bim Bop, which came with 4 sides. The atmosphere was very quiet and peaceful. The location is not the best, but the good food makes it worth the visit.
Was very excited about trying their kalbi but when I got home it was 60 percent fat 30 percent bones and 10 percent meat and a lot of dry rice smh 17 dollars and some change wouldve be better spent at the Mexicanl restaurant next door. All these years Ive been driving past and never stopping now I know why first and last experience! Keep driving not worth it!
This amazing Korean restaurant is the definition of a diamond in the rough. The exterior of the building looks sketchy as heck, but the moment you step inside, this hole in the wall transforms into a bright and beautiful eatery. The staff are so pleasant and attentive. Several regulars stopped in for pick ups and the staff greeted each with a warm smile. The food was absolutely divine. The fried rice was so amazing and the kimchi assortment was heavenly and progressively spicier. Cannot wait to go back to try my next dish!
I love HANAs food. I will make special trips to this part just for their food. Their soon dubu when ordered mild is truly mild -- its almost a flavorful seafood broth with some spice. The kalguksu is also incredibly well done. With COVID-19, they are only doing takeout, but dont worry -- they give an estimate on the pickup time that is typically quicker than I can come!
Best authentic Korean food I’ve ever tasted. Very similar to my Korean grandmother’s cooking. Hana always has the best service and the food is great quality. It is worth the prices. Thank you Hana 😊
Since my dad moved to Ypsilanti in the 80s, he has been eating Hanas food! To this day, he still swears that its some of the best restaurant food hes ever had, and by far the best Korean food hes ever had. And hes not wrong. Hana has some of the BEST food you will ever eat. We dont get takeout often, but when we do, we go all out, and literally everything we get is great. Mandhu, japchae, bulgogi, Dak bokkeum and jeyuk bokkeum, their rice... Its all awesome!! The restaurant itself is cute and welcoming, and the people who own and work at the place are wonderful. We love Hana! <3
I cannot say enough about this restaurant. The service is impeccable. The food is delicious. I am so happy they keep such good COVID protocols, I feel confident in their safety measures. Hana keeps my family happy when we need our favorite foods almost every week :they pack the banchan into take out meals too! Such hospitality!!
Amazing food.. b I have driven by this place for almost 30 years and never stopped. Was looking for a change place to order was plentiful lots of flavor will be ordering from here again. Hey Monica now I just wish I would have taken a picture of it but it was good...
So happy to see they are back open! Excellent service and delicious food!
Best Korea food near Ann Arbor!! We visit every week! If you have time, go to week day lunch special, very valuable!
Good Korean restaurant. Quick service. Staffs are very friendly. Nice ambience.
Food was delicious. When I had finished the bonchen I had offered the waitress brought me out some fish cake as well. Loved it.
Excellent food and lovely service.Edit: I have been regularly visiting this restaurant now and in November we had lots of snow and it was pretty cold outside. So naturally I ordered hot and spicy chicken in order to compensate for cold weather and boy oh boy I was served with the perfect hot (taste wisedish. The spice level was so balanced. I loved it.
If you love Korean food this is the place for you. Good service, amazing food and a wonderful atmosphere.
Me and my husband love Korean food! Weve tried many places, and are happy to find a very good one near our house. Delicious meals, price matches the quality and the quantity. Grateful to the waiter for the side dishes refill! Definitely coming back again
Calm secluded place, doesn’t look super appealing on the outside.BUT the food.... not just drool worthy pictures but tasteful, delicious! So filling , yet so light ! I would love to go back to this place.Worth the money n time :)
Great fresh food, super fast service. We had Mandu, bulgogi, and the japchae. Yum. Please note they be closed May 6th- June 20th of 2019.
This is a small, no frills Korean restaurant that serves fresh, nicely prepared food at reasonable prices. Im a fan of banchan, and Hana serves delightful dishes which they generously refill. Most recently I had bibimbop there, which is good. The chapchae is also very nice. The servers are accommodating and friendly. This is a great neighborhood spot for me.
Great food and I never would have thought they were here. My first time trying Korean food and a really great experience.Update: I have since moved out of Michigan to Texas but this place I still a place I think about crave and miss. This is literally on my list of top 5-6 restaurants that I MUST and WILL be going to when I visit because the food is always A+ and very friendly staff! I do not write reviews and give 5 stars to many places but believe if you eat here you will be thinking to yourself “That dude on google reviews was right!”. Do yourself a favour by experiencing this place.
My favorite restaurant!🙏🙏🙏 Always so delicious. Affordable, big portions, authentic, beautiful, and always great service. They are always super kind, helpful, and polite. Highly underrated. Healthy too. No packaged food. You never feel bloated. If you want to try korean food that worth your time and money, I definitely recommend Hana 🙌
Very rarely give 5 stars so the great places can actually stand out, this place was one of those. Soon as I saw the unassuming facade I knew it was going to be good. Came specifically for the beef ramen and some veggie dumpling as an appetizer. Everything about our experience was great. Service was kind and attentive, ambiance was minimalist and not overly decorative, and the food... delicious. Ramen was well balanced with spice and flavor and Noodles were a perfect consistentcy. Dumplings were light and very tasty as well. came with 3 small sides including kimchee, which I normally dont like but found to be pretty good at this place. Great job will definitely be coming back to try some other items
Consistently really great food, most entrees come with this cool array of garnishes and appetizers to eat along side it. I like the coleslaw they put out. My favorite to order is sea food ramen because its a huge bowl and is a nice full flavor broth with good heat and a lot of seafood
Very nice service and great food. They do not have a huge menu but what they do have they do with pride. We had a group of 10 and there was another party of 15-20 and no orders were missed or confused. They gave us a complimentary appetizer for the Birthday party. I will definitely be returning and suggest everyone to try the Hana Restaurant! Great Job!
I dont know how this place isnt filled with customers! The hostess welcomed me in with a smile, sat me down with a smile, and offered me a drink with a smile!! The service was absolutely 1st class! I ordered the Spicy Chicken (medium). It comes with sticky rice and an assortment of kimchi and other small tastes. The seasoning is so spot on!! The rice is tender, warm, and perfectly moist. The chicken was cooked and seasoned to perfection! Definitely give Hana Korean a try!!
Place is clean. Food is very delicious. And the owner is very polite and friendly. I am going to keep going back there. One of my favorite Korean restaurant in Ypsi.
Great food! Loved the sweet potato noodles as well as the pork bokkeum. Nice and spicy, as was requested. The lady waiting on our table was super patient with us, explaining the dishes and ensuring we were always taken care of super. Also the ambience was great. Nice clean and tastefully decorated interiors
Ive been going here with my daughter who goes to Michigan for a number of years now. We both love everything weve had here, so tasty and feels like youve eaten something healthy. The service has been always warm and welcoming. I cant pronounce most of the things I eat there I have to point at pictures or just ask for recommendations. Im always satisfied though. So fun to experience other cultures food. I think they also love to share their culture with us too. Not fancy but clean and neat. If youre adventurous give it a try youll become a lover of Korean food too.
It doesnt look like much on the outside, but inside its a cute cozy restaurant with inviting staff. I got the Chap Chae with the samplers and it was all delicious!
The food here is so good! Its fresh, full of flavor, and perfectly cooked every-time. The server is very sweet and helpful. The environment is charming with good[often classical or oldies] music playing in the background.Ive never had a bad experience here yet. One of my favorite restaurants to go to.
It is not much to look at but the for is very good. The waitress took time to explain the menu to me. They have spicy and non spicy food. This is authentic so if you get fish expect to get some bone pieces. They also give several side dishes so you are very full when you leave. I would recommend if you like trying new foods.
