Stopped in for the first time and got the Daddy Special. One of the top 3 best gyros Ive ever had. Great prices and all the food was cooked to order. Staff was friendly and I enjoyed eating inside. I will definitely be back whenever Im in the area again. Great job Gyro Shack!

Fast and tasty! We were just driving through and looking for something to eat along the way. At first, it seemed pricey, but when we picked it up, the portion sizes are huge and we ate it for two meals, so itseemed appropriately priced. We got the gyro plate with the fries and it was really good. The Greek dressing on the salad was good as well! We would definitely stop here again.

I grew up a few blocks away from Gyro shack so its always been a favorite. Fried mushrooms and cauliflower you definitely get your moneys worth on. Mm I want some now!

Gyroshack has excellent food its made to order so its always hot and fresh. The staff are always very friendly. They are however a bit pricey. My only complaint is they charge for every extra meaning if you order mushrooms it should come with ranch sauce they charge you extra for this.

Steak sandwich was real tough and this place hands down has the worst beef sandwich Ive ever had!!!!! And seeing other reviews Im not the only one that thought that. gyro is decent though and the foot long polish is like a maxwell street polish its ok but never order a beef of you ever been to portillos or the beef shack on Jefferson st. The beef is light brown color like wood is rubbery never again will I order from there unless its a gyro or someone tells me the chicken is decent.

For your local mom n pop fast food restaurant this is the best around. Lots of choices with great tasting food for everyone one of the choices they offer. Really friendly service, clean facility and good parking. Dine outside as well in the summer.

Best gyros around! Order extra pita bread because there is so much extra meat and veggies! Great breaded mushrooms! Fast wait time. Friendly staff.

Good dinner. Small fast food. Quality isnt the best but dinner quality. Gyro was amazing. Italian beef was a little bit in bland side. I would come again if in neighborhood.

Ordered a chocolate milkshake, gyro, fried cauliflower, and a maxwell polishThe food is awful milkshake had a weird flavor didnt taste good the polish was so overcooked and chewy I couldnt even eat it so I ordered a rib sandwich which was just ok the BBQ sauce on it is extremely sour tasting the cauliflower was flavorless and got a side of melted cheese to dip it in instead of ranch because the ranch was also gross. Also to add i got rice pudding which was watery and gross too. Everything we got was terrible first time coming here and the last unfortunately had high hopes for this place was a major let down and waste of 40 dollars hope they improve food quality in the future.

Ive been there quite a few times. Always the food was good. Today the food was terrible. I purchased the pork chop dinner. Chops were extremely greasy. The fries were disgusting. They tasted old and hard. My son had a burrito that was greasy the tortilla fell apart from the grease. Im very dissatisfied with the food I received today. I will never waste my money there again. Never will I go back.

Sorry short people, the last couple lines of the menus are going to require the help of a 6 + friend.We got the Gyro platter and the Philly. The platter is very generous. I will ask for extra bread next time. The Philly was very well executed as well, both having plenty of fries for the prices. All was served in a very reasonable time.I will stop back if Im ever back in the area!

Sometimes a place leaves you without words. That’s Gyro Shack for me. The portions are PLENTIFUL! While I’ve only had a gyro I can safely say the meat is flavorful, the feta is chunky and delicious, and the tzatziki sauce - the bomb. Probably the best gyro I’ve ever had. Very very very fantastic.

The (ONLYand Best! Place on the Eastside of Joliet Just off Briggs St. To get the Best Gyro Plate In Will County. Oh yeah! Dont forget to ask for the extra pita bread. Youll NEED IT!

Really Good Gyros. The gyro plate is very generous and the Tzatziki sauce is delicious. Order extra pitas and extra sauce for all the meat!

I usually get the gyro plate but , I decided to try the beef with mozzarella cheese. There was a lot of beef on sandwich,however the sandwich was very dry. Next time I will order it slightly dipped.

This is probably the best fast food place in Joliet. Try one of their specials or anything else on their menu and you will be very pleased. Joliet is severely lacking in independent fast food but this place picks up some of the slack.

My husband loves this place. They are very good at what they do. Gyros are great! They are currently taking phone orders and doing orders outside the door for coronavirus. They are quick, polite, and accurate. 40 minutes for us to get these gyros, worth every minute

Found this place a few years ago while working in the neighborhood, we eat here a few times a week! Always was good with huge gyros so I tried to stop there anytime I was nearby. Stopped in today the prices were high and the gyro was nothing like it used to be, before there was enough meat even the biggest guy would have a hard time finishing now they look like kids size. $10 for gyro & fry is on the high side but would be okay if they were like before. Not only lacking on the meat but also didn’t taste the same, I know there are different quality of gyro that are available(used to own a restaurantI feel like the gyro shack hit all sides to make bigger profit... less meat, lower quality and raised the prices! I know times are tuff but cuts like this keeps the people away who used to drive out of the way to stop here, no longer!

Delicious and fast as always! Great place. They are always friendly. Plenty of options to choose from as well. Prices are good as well. Very big portion sizes. You definitely get your moneys worth.

I have been going to the Gyro Shack since I was a kid (25 years). My brother and I used to ride our bikes there to get food. He lives in Virginia. When he comes to visit he always makes it a point to get a Gyro at the Shack! I have never been disappointed. I Love the Gyro platter! Huge Portions! Make sure to get extra sauce and extra pita. Lots of meat!

If you are looking for real Greek gyros, then take the time to check this little gem out. Probably one of the best values when you take into consideration the portion size (huge), homemade quality and fresh ingredient factors. Huge selection of items but the gyros is the real star, especially when paired with their onion rings, which are beer battered and outstanding. You can eat at the counter or outside weather permitting, but you need to eat there. Pete and his crew are the real deal and it is worth the trip!

Not good. At all. I always think poorly of people who dont get the item that a restaurant is known for (wings from a taco stand is a terrible idea). I have to make an exception for this place. You would think that a place that has Gyro in the name would make an excellent one but you would be mistaken. The meat was tasteless and had a weird spongy texture to it. The pita was burnt. The fries left little to write home about. In fact, I wish I had just stayed home and had leftovers.Gyros should be consistent from place to place because most restaurants go to the same suppliers. I dont know if this is a specialty blend or they just do something very different with the preparation but it did not work. I wont be back.

The girl that took my order was by no measure friendly! She was rude, cold and had poor communication. In addition when I placed my order I asked for fries and it wasnt in the bag. When I asked about it she said it doesnt come with fries and turned and walked aways! Not "would you like to add to your order" or "Im sorry I misunderstood" just walked like she was done with the conversation!!! I would never return!!!! I would never recommend this place!!! This is my one and last encounter with the undeserving place!

If this is the same place that sells Italian beef sandwiches on a hard roll bun with hot peppers, its the best sandwich Ive ever had. Theres more meat in it than you can imagine - no skimping. Came there in the 70s and then again in 2018. Whenever I get back there, Ill make for another visit and for the price, its worth it!

Good food. Fast food place best gyro plate Ive had in a long time when in Joliet I stop in all the time. The rest of there menu just about any dish you get there you always get a good portion and the food is great I would recommend it to anybody the Loves Gyros

Purchased the hot dogs not good at all. Tasted like a normal hotdog you can make at home. Fries are good. Staff wasnt rude but they werent nice.

I purchased the gyro plate a bit ago, including a strawberry shake, and I was content with the food! Everything was just so good! Gyro Shack is officially one of my favorite places in Joliet! Thanks for the wonderful experience!

I’ve been there 3 times already! I thought the prices where a bit high, but once I tasted the food it was worth it. I totally recommend the gyros and the tenders. Went there today. I believe it’s the same owner. Love the friendliness of the cashier. She seems welcoming and is very patient. Love the friendliness of the cooks! And the welcoming of the owner. Totally recommend the gyros.

I appreciated the fact that they took my order like 10mins before closing. Never had their food before and because the restaurants in a 5 mile radius is so limited I wanted to give them a try. Hamburger and fries is what I ordered. The cook slapped the meat on the grill dropped some fresh fries and overall as i stood there watching him prepare my food i said to self I will come back just because they took my order at the last minute when they could of turned me away and plus the lady at the register was nice.

I ordered an Italian beef with grilled onions and mozzarella cheese and an order of cheese fries for $12.05 ..the bun was sooo soggy I couldnt pick it up and I couldnt find the mozzarella cheese? The fries were awesome though and the counter guy made me laugh with his sense of humor . I have to say overall I was disappointed that the price was too high for what I ordered. But blessings to you anyways!!

First time at the Gyro Shack and ordered the gyro special with fries and drink...boy let me tell ya...they load the meat on there boy!! I like that!! And the fries was crunchy and fresh hot!! Another plus! I think they may have Mickeys beat. Ill try other food on the menu next time...and I hope the burrito is just as good and loaded! I gave the owner a thumbs up! I would definitely be back!

Great neighborhood carryout spot. Huge and tasty Gyros sandwiches. Or order the Gyros plate and easily have enough food for two. Good Italian beef. Also some good burritos. Love their fries now, a crispy outer coating. Good daily specials to that include fries and a drink. And they always have a soup of the day and good chili, also some really good chili cheese fries.Recently remodeled inside, looks good.

So far everything I have ever ordered from the Gyro Shack have been the tastiest. I love their chicken tenders they taste like Long John Silvers 🐔. But look like real chicken tenders, I would say try anything everything I have ever ordered it has been great.

That saying “you get what you pay for” is right on the money - no pun intended- at Gyro Shack. Sure the prices are a BIT high but their food has NEVER disappointed me and portions are very generous. They have hands down the biggest and tastiest Greek salad in Joliet (try it with a chicken breast). And how can I forget, the best gyros! I don’t mind paying the extra $ here for quality food and the huge portion sizes.

We were in the area and stopped here solely on the basis of the reviews. Believe you me - they *earned* their high rating! My mother and I split a gyro meal together...O.M.G. The fries were a meal unto themselves. But the gyro was truly the píece de resistánce.It had the perfect flavor, and was greasy enough to convey that flavor without being too greasy. The sauce was absolute perfection - plenty flavorful without overwhelming the meat. (And Im *very* particular about my gyro sauce.)No exaggeration - there was so much meat there...my mother and I each just about gorged ourselves on it, as well as gave a few strips (under protest at sharing something so good!to my dog, and there was *still* enough left for a full lunch the next day! (My fathers sandwich was just as ridiculously huge, and he says it was also quite good. Maybe not quite the magical perfection of the gyro, but very respectable. He said hed eat it again except that hell be getting a gyro next time.)Id go a good deal out of my way to get their food again. Try them. You *wont* regret it.

We used to live right down the street, and a once a week meal from here was a tradition. I begged and pleaded, and on this last Sunday we drove 1 1/2 hours to enjoy a meal from the Shack! I was not let down! AWESOME! OMG there is no other place that we have eaten at for 25 years that we can look forward to. You guys are amazing! Thank you!
