Tandoor oven roasts, sigri charcoal grills and seasonal curries at Raj-era themed Indian restaurant.
Incredible flavours and ambience! We had the lunch menu, very filling. Chai masala and mango lassi were also very good.
Mediocre food, rushed service, poor.A really disappointing birthday experience. Having booked a table for the tasting menu at 17:45, we asked could we take a short break for ten minutes after course three. Surprisingly the waiter said no, informing us we only had the table until 19:45, the first we’d heard of that. They extended us to 20:15, but the service was still very rushed. Our final drink (we had a wine pairing), dessert, birthday cake, coffee, petit-four and bill all arrived together for example. Rushed out.Two hours is completely inadequate for a large tasting menu (with wine pairing). The staff knew when we booked we were coming for a birthday celebration and tasting menu. The manager asked for feedback and we gave it re being rushed , and he was kind enough to remove service from the bill. The food was not good unfortunately, very average fare, and the dessert was very poor.Overall, give it a miss.
The food was good but quite expensive (we had a voucher that made it more reasonable). Unfortunately there are other options in London for similar quality, more authentic in my opinion and cheaper such as Dishoom. The service was very professional but I can’t say I would go back again
Lovely restaurant, so nice to see it back. Food was absolutely delicious and the staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. We ordered way too much food so it was nice to have it packed up to go, leftovers for the next day! Recommend the Kulfi with pistachios and saffron, so tasty!
While booking our trip to London, we made sure to reserve an vegetarian tasting menu at Gymkhana. The restaurant has an beautiful ambiance with various rooms. We were seated downstairs. Our waiter was very professional and helpful in explaining the menu.Cocktails were delicious. Our food arrived in an timely manner and every single dish was filled with an abundance of flavor.Going with the vegetarian tasting menu, allowed us to try various types of dishes vs a La cart!Would highly recommend this! From NYC to London, thank you for an wonderful experience Gymkhana
Delicious, thoughtfully executed indian cuisine - inventive without becoming fusion. Two floors of beautiful interiors with an impressive and sophisticated attention to detail harkening back to early twentieth century India. Excellent, warm service thoughtfully guides you through each course. Don’t miss it.
The tasting menu is really fantastic. Some of the dishes were delicious versions of Indian dishes I’ve had before, and some were very different and unexpected. I highly recommend having everyone get a tasting menu and order different things so you can try everything! The cocktails were also great.
The food was delicious and the staff and service was great. They were so attentive. We ordered the butter chicken, fried chicken and their signature biryani all cooked to perfection.
Amazing Indian food, they offered a full vegetarian tasting menu but they also had a lunch menu woth veggie options for each course.Waiters were extremely nice and friendly and helped us with our food choices. It was a great place to celebrate a special occasion.
Excellent experience over lunch. Lunch prix fixe menu was great value and the staff were over and above in charm and knowledge about the food. Place is elegant, clean but not stuffy. Ended up eating there twice in the span of two weeks and have already booked my table for the next trip. It’s that good.
What a great restaurant. We felt very welcome as we were guided to the private dining room downstairs through the elegant and hip hallway. Once seated, we were served by a great waiter. The service is subtle, knowledgeable and very kind.As we wanted to taste all the restaurant had to offer, we took the tasting menu and the vegetarian tasting menu. All of the food made sense. Great fresh ingredients, fresh spices and a fantastic presentation. This Indian food is second to none. Balance is the major thing that stood out for me. Spicy food with great Yoghurt dishes. At the end, taking both menus was too much, but the staff was more than willing to pack our leftovers which we had for lunch the next day. This is truly a great restaurant which we will visit again when we are in the area.
Great ambience, amazing staff, nice food. Lunch course portions are huge, we couldnt finish the main course. Some dishes were absolutely amazing, some not as good, but none were bad. Definitely a safe choice if you want quality food.
Having heard amazing things about Gymkhana, my friend and I were super excited yo come here and wow what a fantastic lunch we hadEverything from the stunning dark wood and marble décor that makes you feel like youre in a traditional Raj mansion to the friendly service and delicious food - Gymkhana really delivers. You have to try the Tandoori Lamb Chops - they are probably the best lamb chops weve ever had and their Alphonso Mango Lassi drink is the perfect accompaniment.Top notch. Highly recommended.
Its a good restaurant with good food. I would give it a 4.5 if I could but since its a Michelin I am only leaving a 4. The food is very good but in my opinion not truly outstanding beyond some other good indian restaurants in town. What sets it apart is the service and attention to detail - also ambience-wise. Overall worth a visit to check out what the hype is about but no truly outstanding dishes in my opinion.
Great food and atmosphere! We tried the lunch set menu and everything is great. Vegetarian option available as well. Loved the cocktail and gin we ordered.Service is very attentive and they can tell you more about the food, flavor and history of Indian cuisine. Decor of the restaurant is very memorable too. All in all a great restaurant and a must visit when you are in London.
One of the best meals and dining experiences I’ve ever had. The food was flavorful, with the perfect amount of spice. The portions were more generous than expected and choosing two starters, two mains, and two sides turned out to be a little two much for our stomachs, but it was nice to be able to try a variety of the dishes. Compliments to the chef! The service was EXCEPTIONAL. Some of the kindest souls. Abdul, Rowenna, and Mario (I apologize for any misspellings of your names), thank you for being such lovely humans. You made our experience warm and inviting.-Kate and Adam
A fabulous dining experience. We were a party of 4 and each one of us were equally impressed. The upstairs is small and intimate, the sommelier efficient, easily available and knowledge. Our waiter smiley, friendly but not intrusive. And the food!!! We ordered many dishes. There was not a single dish that was a let down. For me personally, the best Indian I’ve ever had. Last time in london we tried another Michelin star Indian spot. No comparison. The atmosphere and food is top shelf. Make a res in advance!!
One of the best Indian meals Ive ever had in London. House cocktails (eg saffron gimletwere great and every dish we had was fantastic - fried chicken bites, naans, poppadoms, butter masala, lamb chops and daal al highly recommend
Loved the kid goat and lamb shank. Butter chicken was quite good but the chicken pieces were grilled which was different. They kindly gave me a complimentary chocolate mousse in a shell for my birthday.
Tldr: Highly recommendReally top notch experience, servers were very friendly and proactive, food was of a very high standard you could tell a lot of thought had gone into it. One of our party was about 20mins late and the staff were very understanding. We went as a group of 3 and all had the lunch set menu (including dessertand the total bill was approx £180. We made the booking as celebration for a birthday and we were given a free chocolate mousse with a candle, very tasty and added to the occasion. The only criticism I have is that the entrance is quite narrow and since someone was being seen to at the desk when we entered it felt a little cramped.Overall a really good experience and worthy of the occasion, would definitely return in the future.
A breath of fresh air for Mayfair restaurants - beautifully presented like many of the other restaurants, but with polite and approachable staff and food that isnt style over substance. The lunch menu was excellent value for money too.
Absolutely amazing dining experience, the service was impeccable. The meal was one of the best I have ever had, the venison biryani was a standout, along with the best butter chicken I have ever had. Cocktails were unique, tropical and fresh! Highly recommend and would put it near the top of my list of favorite restaurantd.
Serious indulgence of taste buds! Atmosphere feels a bit cramped but still classy and beautifully decorated. They could put slightly more effort in the bread platter but otherwise every other dish was outstanding. Very friendly staff too! They remember why youre visiting them and make a fuss about it which is very sweet.
I was craving for Indian food and stopped here. Unfortunately I don’t have high tolerance for spicy food, so that made it a little bit difficult to choose what I can order but the waiter was very patient and helpful. All the dishes I got was great and choices were perfect in mild spiciness. This place is perfect for date or group outing as ambience is great. Thought it gets overly crowded so I highly recommend to make reservation ahead of time.
Absolutely amazing food and chic atmosphere. Not an expert of Indian food but this was by far the best place. I always thought London is not a good place to have great food (pricy but not good quality of food), but this place serves very good quality of food. Price is not cheap but I dont think of it as a waste of money at all. Definitely come by again!
This place was exceptional from beginning to end. Right from entering the restaurant until leaving. The service was impeccable and friendly. The waiter was really helpful with making recommendations and making us feel welcome. The venue is beautiful, really elegant and attention to detail. Lovely soft and calming atmosphere in the basement. We went for the Sunday lunch menu and was blown away by the portions of the food, including naan, biryani, tandoori chicken and more. The taste of each dish was rich and flavourful. Certainly no toning down of any authentic flavour. Really enjoyable dishes and overall meal, and each meal complemented the other, particularly the cooling dessert at the end.Would highly recommend and will certainly come back.
Best Indian food experience. Brilliant staff. Just go with the set menu there. Drinks are best. Ambience is lovely.Reservations required, can become loud at times. Hands down the best.
Simply superb. We dined in the underground level area and it was a magnificent experience. The staff is attentive, the ambiance is classy and the food is full of flavor. I had high standards but they exceeded my expectations. The appetizers, drinks and entrees were all on point. Would definitely come back!
In the heart of bustling Mayfair, the small upmarket Indian restaurant is a delight. The tiger prawns are perfectly cooked with a zingy hot tandoori marinate, the salmon kebab a little bit salty but lovely nonetheless.Pork cheek vindaloo and muntjac deer biryani was presented with theatre by the knowledgeable and friendly staff. Thank you for a hearty good evening all round.
The ambiance is great. Interior is stunningand elegant, hospitality is good, staff members are polite and friendly. I like they pay attention to details, they changed new plates (warm not cold one!!!before serving the main courses. Decent Indian food with some modern twist. Enjoyed most dishes. The spices were flavourful yet by no means intrusive. A perfect spot for any occasion.
Not a spice out of place. A perfectMeal with perfect service. Not necessarily the most inventive which is only a minus because it has a Michelin star and is outrageously expensive but it was executed to perfection. I do recommend for a special occasion. Also, the best wine I’ve ever had.
This was probably the best indian food Ive had. The staff was very attentive...almost to a fault. We had the lunch set menu that had a variety of dishes and was too much for us to finish. Everything was extremely delicous!
This was such an amazing experience. Absolutely loved the ambiance, the service was amazing and the food was just unbelievable. We did the tasting menu- veg and the non- veg and it was one of the best meals. Would highly recommend the tasting menu.
Great Ambience, exceptional service and above all Authentic Indian Food. Each and every item on the menu sounded delicious but we could not order all. Definitely will be back again.Thank you Bhushan for great service. You are a Star!!
Just amazing all round. We had the weekend lunch menu and every course was brilliant. The aloo chat was so morish, the tikka paneer was smoky, spicy and rich all at the same time, and the Goan prawn curry had a zesty punch to it. The portions were just right as well. The staff were very attentive and friendly, and made the whole experience really enjoyable for us all. Will definitely come again!
Great food, great ambiance and super awesome and friendly staff. Food is perfectly portioned and excellent quality and taste. Must visit place in London if you’re looking for authentic Indian cuisine.
We had a great experience dining at Gymkhana. The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and ensured we had a great time. Impeccable service, would recommend dining if you are looking for authentic Indian food and a fine dining experience.
The best Indian meal Ive ever experienced. You get a warm welcome as soon as you get through the door and the service remains top class the entire way through the meal. My highlights were the Patiala Fried Chicken and the Pork Cheek Vindaloo but everything I tried was fantastic. Two members of our party had the tasting menu and enjoyed every dish. Great portion sizes too!
Excellent ambiance and place. Good service but the food is ok, it doesn’t live up to the ambiance. I would definitely go back for the overall experience and try more dishes.
Amazing place and lovely atmosphere. Great staff. The food is amazing. Its on the spicy side and full of flavour. The mango lassi needs a bit more sweetness. Will definitely visit again. The Shrimp side and the lamb roganjosh is a must try.
Celebrated my brothers birthday here and it was absolutely amazing! The food was delicious and they even surprised us with a candle on their dessert. The service was perfect, food was bought out fresh and delicious. The Lamb was my favourite. Cocktails are strong and tasty too.
I can’t rave about this place enough! GREAT SERVICE. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations! The food had a great flavour! The lamb chops were so meaty and deliciously flavoured with spices not to mention cooked to perfection. I have no complaints at all. I will be back!
Everything was absolutely delicious and service was great - our favourite was the duck egg bhurji! We went as a celebration for my boyfriend’s birthday and it was lovely to get those additional touches to make the celebration all the more special.
Delicious food, cozy ambience & great customer services. Went for our 8th wedding anniversary and they made us feel very special 🥰
Excellent service, great ambience. I didnt feel food lived up to the hype. It could be my palate. Nevertheless a great place to visit with family and friends.
Have been coming here since it opened.Perfection as always from arrival to departure, service was flawless. Incredible flavourful full food beautifully presented with a great range of dishes for every dietary requirement and palette.Michelin starred with beautiful plush interiors.Highly recommend and on my starred recommendations
Royal Indian feast!! Exceptional food - delicious authentic Indian food, in heartful portions and top of the line service right from the efficient concierge to the knowledgable and warm wait staff. The exterior understated appearance contrasts well with the opulence inside! We had the festive 3-course lunch menu and it over-satiated our soul and tummy.
Absolutely loved it! My first time at a Michelin star restaurant, definitely worth the hype. The food was amazing, the ambiance great and the staff super friendly. I would definitely recommend it and plan to visit again sometime.
Truly fantastic experience, on our first post pandemic long-haul trip. Went for the tasting menu. Cocktails were spectacular! I just wish they had left the first course (fried crunchy crackersthroughout the whole meal.
Up there with the best Indian food in London. Friendly service, generous portions and great drinks. Standout dishes are the chicken tikka and quail kebab. Not cheap but expected given the well deserved Michelin star.
