Excelent place for the mindful.
geat to go during the holiday season👍🏻
The palace is beautiful! If you rent a hanbok you can enter for free and enjoy the lovely scenery. When you are finished here you can walk for like 15 min to the bukchon hanok village. ( its a great fotospot especially in the traditional clothes)
MoreVery big
Nice place, not so great but good preparation and stunts
If you are staying in a hotel around the City Hall/Myeongdong area, a walk or run around the palace precinct is highly recommended first thing in the calm of the morning.
MoreJust walked by.
Good
Really nice place, highly recommended
Its my first time at the Palace and it was a wonderful experience! You guys can also rent the hanbok outside of the Palace (prices vary depending which hanbok rental shop you go tothe Palace is very big. Do try to experience it at least once.
MoreCanadian traveller here. A must go to when visiting Korea. It’s amazing how central it is considering how busy this area is. The area is huge and so bring comfortable shoes to explore. I recommend exploring the back area on the left near the old forks museum as there is less people and more to see. They have several areas for washroom and have multiple stalls. Once you are outside the walls there are also street food venders and several rentals to wear the Korea traditional clothing. It varies at each store so browse around and see which best fits your budget. The palace also holds a change of guards show which is held 4x a day. I recommend to watch as its truly memorable especially when they hit the large drum.
MoreVery cool entrance to the palace grounds. It is free to walk around this part, but to get into the actual palace costs money. I especially like what this gate looks like at night.
MoreA must-see when in Seoul
Pretty big and cool, couldnt see at night but should be lit up.
Nice palace
Really impressive authentic historic monuments, the place was kept really clean. Many visitors every day so please be cautious so early reservations. There are consistently people wearing traditional oriental clothing, which makes the ambience really fascinating. MoreWhat a wonderful Palace! A must see!!
Very beautiful place. I was very lucky to arrive early and find the place empty. That’s my recommendation, come early, right when it opens so you get to enjoy a quiet meditative walk in this amazing place. A must do experience
MoreHistorical!
Nice, Beautiful
Ok
Great place
The guard change is quite cool to see. But the best part is the fact that even the visitors dress up for the occasion to recreate the atmosphere of the palace a few hundreds of years ago. The girls and women are just charming.
MoreGood for today
The king who created the Korean alphabetJoseun or Chosen dynasty period palaceCame when it was raining but still recommend attending. Right next to the blue house. (White house equivalent )
MoreMy friend took me to this place, vow, this place has the change is guard for the soldiers. They try to represent the old ancient culture during the kind regim. It looked very nice, with the traditional costume and music and commands. Many visit the place to witness this. The surrounding places offer traditional dresses for rent which is very cute.
Morea must for every tourist. you should also watch the changing of the guard. recommended at any time. one of the most beautiful highlights.
MoreBeautiful landmark! Definitely also recommend coming in the night, the view is spectacular.
MoreThis main gate is just beautiful as itself! Don’t need to do anything; just walk around the gate and look up at it carefully, then you’ll be able to see and hear Korean ancestors’ wisdom.
MoreAmazing place that everyone should visit in korea!!
I loved the palace, very beautiful in spring. It a big area and took us half a day to see it all. We had also rented hanboks which made it free for us to enter. Theres cafe inside the place for buying cake and drinks. The change of guard also happen at 10 am and 2 pm which was magnificent.
MoreFilled with history. If you wear Hanbok you get in free!
Truly amazing!
Very safe and clean tourism destination.
The all time vibrant square in Seoul
Royalty. No words to express. Just visit and feel it.
Hire a dress and dress up 🥰🥰
Id like to share my experience of visiting of Gwnaghwamun. It is located in Seoul. Its the biggest castle gate of Gyeongbokgung so I impressed by its size. And Gwanghwamun square is in front of it.I was impressed by its beauty. Gwanghwamun was very colorful and magnificent. Also it was very beautiful at night when all the lights are on. So if you visit there, you should take pictures at night and daytime.I learned that Gwanghwamuun is made in 1395, and it was burned down at the Korean war. Also there was a demonstration in 2017. More than 2million people participated it for impeachment.I got good memories there and I also recommend visiting there.
MoreYou should definitely get dressed up to visit this place, its a wonderful Palace and grounds, especially if the trees are in blossom
MoreThe main gate for Gyeongbokgung Palace. It is lovely to see and a great place to take pictures. They also do a changing of the guard ceremony here which is really interesting to watch.
MoreIts very nice
Its epicenter of Korean Culture and History. Must visit when in Seoul.

MoreMust taking picture place for Korea tourists
Gwanghwamun is the main and largest gate of Gyeongbokgung Palace, in Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It is located at a three-way intersection at the northern end of Sejongno. As a landmark and symbol of Seouls long history as the capital city during the Joseon Dynasty, the gate has gone through multiple periods of destruction and disrepair. The gate’s central location in the heart of Seoul makes it easy to reach via public transportation. The most convenient way to get there is to take the metro to City Hall Station (Lines 1 and 2), Gyeongbokgung Station (Line 3), or Gwanghwamun Station (Line 5). Several public buses also stop nearby.
Moreone of my favorite spot in Seoul is this book shop. Really recommend to those who want to buy books or accessories or others electronics as well.coffee shop is there.
