Gurara Waterfalls - Tourist attraction in Bida, Nigeria
Going in group is the best way to enjoy maximum fun
Please can someone give me the directions to guarara waterfall from madallah roundabout?
It was awesome.Only that you might want to take your drinking water along. It takes great energy to climb up and down. Overall, it is a sight to see.Water and snacks may also be a little expensive there! Was a fun place...The other pictures I have of the place includes me and other people.
Beautiful place to be with lovely views for pictures, picknics etc.
Had a perfect experience, the tour guides were very patient and kind.Nice place for family and friends hangout, picnic and all that..... 100 percent satisfaction
I love the beautiful scenic rocky water background and so good for memorable picture collections.....this can be experienced during harmattan and dry season.
Summary of my time there was surreal. Being in such close contact with nature, made me realize how true this whole idea of how nature can help stabilize ones mental/emotional state. We camped at the waterfalls and entire experience was amazing. I would definitely go back.
Entry Price: 1k naira/personTour Guides are available. Ask for Friday, he was our tour guide and SO amazing!Bathroom: yesI wish I could give this place 10 stars. This place screams nothing but BEAUTY and POWER. I am scared of heights and just falling and climbing in general but our guide, Friday, helped us all the way through and made us focus on the sights and see that its worth trekking. I am so glad that he did! Going down was easy as there were stairs but going back up was definitely a climb for my unfit self. We climbed rocks to go back uphill. However, when Friday showed us the area directly by the waterfall it was WORTH the narrow and hard climb. I could have stayed all day. The people were so friendly too bathing and washing their clothes in the water and just having fun. Its good vibes. I know that the North can be scary for people, but dont let it stop you from going to this destination. It is SAFE. Again, it is SAFE. And the roads were very good going there. Please mark this review as helpful 🥰 And please please please go and support this destination. Support Nigerian tourism to promote the beauty of this country.
Gurara is an all round cool place to visit anytime, any season.
Great place to have fun and party , good relaxation and great views, awesome pictures background, its always flooded during rainy season , will advice if you want to go ,dry season , ensure to go as a group cos it will be lots of fun plan games and fun things to do there.
If you chase waterfalls like me,you wouldn’t miss this gorgeous waterfall on your list.Located on Suleja-Minna express on the Northern part of Nigeria. It’s a beauty to behold.
It was a thrilling experience. The views were breathtaking! The sounds of nature, the tiny fingerlings in the water that came close to my legs; I was super excited!Due to the fact that it’s the dry season in this part of Nigeria, one could get a clear view of the rocks on the ground, the water was clear and flowed less vigorously which made it possible to get so close to the waterfall.A tour guide was assigned at entry point, security operatives were also on ground to ensure safety of visitors and tourists.
Located in Niger state, gurara falls is one of the most visited waterfalls within the North Central. Best time to visit is during the dry season as the tides and current would not be as high as in the raining season.A good place to relax with family. It is advised to come with your supplies as not much would be found around.
According to oral history, Gurara falls gets its name from two deities Gura & Rara, also it was also discovered by a Gwari hunter called Buba in 1745 before Europeans discovered it in 1925.
It was amazing. I actually loved every moment of it. Climbing from the bottom to the top of the waterfalls was thrilling.Glad I went for the AIESEC Abuja post conference tour.
This is a very cool place to visit with friends and family. Its one of the numerous tourist destinations in Nigeria. Every minute spent here is worth it. Visit the Gurara waterfall to experience nature at its best. There is an entrance fee to be paid per head.
This place is amazing. And it is super impressive during the raining season.
simply wow we saved the best for the last. Gurara falls is well managed - there is an entrance fee of 500 naira per person. Its better to have your own means of transportation. There are different areas of the waterfall. The lookout point, the sandy shore part where you can do pinics and barbecue , the rocky front at the waterfall base where you can sunbath if you wanted.Towards the end there is a swimming area where you can take dip. The locals fish there also so its possible to get white catfish, black catfish and some other types. We had a guide and gave him a 1000 Naira for taking us around. Absolutely a must see
Is a recreational center were families comes and is also place to visit with your spouse an amazing place the view is incredible a place for an adventure
Gurara waterfall experience for me was a beautiful and memorable one, it is in a friendly environment not so far from Abuja.I think it’s best to visit during the dry season that way you get to enjoy the water more. It’s best enjoyed with friends or a group. Also great place for small hike and good photosIt isn’t so far from Abuja, so if you’re a small group looking for a way to have fun out of Abuja, or you’re just adventurous like me, you can visit this place.
Nice place to hike. The experience is different depending on the season you visit - Rainy or Dry Season. For the Hardcore, you can also camp overnight by the River Side.
Its a nice place with romantic views, and good to snap killer photos, but its basically empty, theres no place to buy snacks or just relax. You have to buy snacks and bring along. No one told me that. You pay a gate fee of 500 naira per person, but you dont really get anything worth that amount.
I have been to this wonderful place several times with friends and family. Its no doubt a beautiful place closest to Abuja and Minna. There arent much signboards to guide you to the place, a possibility to miss the road.On getting there, you will discover that the falls is roaring especially in rainy seasons. It is a wonderful sight and sound. Its a scenic place for picnics and photoshoots. You will have to arrange everything you need from home. The indigenous boys and few girls are eagerly waiting to help carry your bags for a little token.
I’ll start by saying, the trip to Gurara is not one to embark on by yourself. The more the merrier. It started out really hectic especially with the bad roads and the fact that we got lost. We were 30km away from Minna & 50 minutes past Gurara waterfalls when we became aware that we had passed it and had to turn back. There was no sign to indicate the waterfalls. Although, we were told of a sign that was formerly there. The only present indication now is a warning sign not to swim. So keep an eye out for this (posted amongst the pictures). There is also a small fee to enter. After this, we had a picnic and thoroughly enjoyed nature’s gift aided by the tour guides Ofcourse. All initial troubles were long forgotten as we took in the serenity of our environment. Also, remember to carry your own food as there are no places nearby to purchase food but soft drinks can be purchased from the local vendors. Xx
I liked gurara waterfall basically because of the waterfall its simply wonderful it really displays nature.
I went hiking here on one of my Traveldiaries - Of all the new places Ive been to this year, Gurara falls is definitely the most amazing... With a really intense climb, the view at the end is actually worth it.The steps to and from this place are a heartbreaking experience and trust me it feels like 2hrs on a treadmill.....The weird part is the sudden urge to jump over this cliff, just try to say no to that voice.
It was a nice experience there! The scenery is naturally aesthetic and the atmospher is cool. Its a nice place for picnic, hiking and camping. Hiking is best done during the dry season because the water level is low. Make sure you take everything youll need to the place because there are no shops around.
Great place need a good management, to make it a world standard tourist attractions.
It was so much fun. Tips- go with friends or family, carry food and drinks and hold your camera and gate fee(#500/persondont let them scam you
A very lovely tourist attraction site, located in a secluded part of Niger state. It was a beauty to behold😍😍😍😍
Its a beautiful place that needs more attention from the government.Remember to bring all you need (especially wateras you wont get anything to buy around.
Nice but it is at full flow during the rainy season
I had fun with my friends here. The scenery is beautiful and the water too. A perfect place for a hang out with friends and family. Decided to turn it to a photo shoot!😎
I love visiting waterfalls but Gurara waterfall make me breathless. The fall of the water and the history behind the water captured my heart. The fall of d water is mighty. Its has plenty rock u cant just swim anyhow. U can go there for photoshoot, picnic tag it anything. Its a nice place but u need to be strong so u can climb the steps back up.
One of the most beautiful remote locations in my community. Managed by Niger state tourism board, its an eye candy of several water waterfalls and rock formations. Steady, continuous, 24/7 stream of gushing water over rocks. Sounds of nature everywhere. This place has the ability to increase your average life expectancy with just smiles and joy. No one told a joke but you will find yourself smiling. Take a look at some of the pictures below.
Gurara falls, was discovered in 1745 and named after 2 gods Gura and rara. this waterfall was used for sacrifices of humans to the gods. also it was then discovered by Europeans in 1925 and turned the place into a touristic sight.its a beautiful place to visit. dangerous but beautiful, it has high waters in the rain season, and low waters in the dry season. we visited in the dry season of 2017 and it was amazing, will definitely recommend this place if you ever visit Nigeria.I Repeat be very careful when swimming in this River, it looks calm in the dry season, but many people has drowned in the deep pool of water. (In fact go only where your feet can touch the ground)-Bring a proper hiking footwear-Bring your own refreshments-Bring your own entertainment-Dont stay late-During Harmattan season, the water is still and beautiful-Rainy season, the turbulence is in full. Also beautiful.Have fun to the fullest
Calming and peaceful if you love to enjoy some quiet. The sound of the water is very therapeutic cause it carries the natural vibrational sound of nature. Good location for beautiful pictures too for picture lovers. The place could do more better with a bit of publicity and also other recreational activities to make the experience more adventurous for tourists. Also very important when going kindly take your grub with your as they dont offer catering services there.....you could also carry a barbeque stand if you wish to do some grilling.....the locals could catch fish for you and you grill it.....
Such a beautiful place to be,very peaceful and amazing! Be ready to climb rocks if you want to be close to the fountain. overall its worth a visit 🤗
Its a nice serene place for a family outing. However the foothills are not really safe. There is potential if someone will work on the small details to make the place better.
It is a beautiful place to visit. Great site for hiking, a canoe ride is also available to get one as close to the foot of the waterfall as possible and also to the other sides. Tour guides are attached to each group once the sign in is completed at the entrance. Swimming is said to be prohibited though this isnt enforced. The way there isnt well marked, so one might need to ask for directions.
Best spring water I have seen so far, just needs a some renovation. My experience at the fall was fun
Really nice place for relaxation and celebration. Wonderful sight seeing.
Hmmmm, how will I start my review... Im a lover of nature, wildlife, history and art. I needed to go away for a few days and take time off so I went on a group tour with friends and family then I made some new friends. Gurara waterfalls is a beautiful and breathtaking sight, it is located in North central which is a safe area in the north, Niger State. You will have to pay a token to access the waterfalls. The serene and atmosphere is fresh and cool, the environment is pristine, with lots of trees, plants, flowers providing fresh air and oxygen which helps the brain. It is surrounded by rocks and mountains. The water is very clear around the dry season and a little muddy during the raining season, its better to go during the dry season, you will see the beauty of the clear water when the sun is shining, its a place to skinny deep without feeling an ounce of guilt. You have to descend some rocky stairs which is very steep so you have to be careful will descending, its easier to go down to the waterfalls but when you are ascending, its like you are going hiking, I tend to look at it as two in one exercise and sight seeing - pleasure n pain. You can sit close to the water flowing from the waterfall and cast your mind back make amends, look into the future and smile for it brings hope and tranquillity to you. Its a place to go to bird watching, romantic getaways, family picnics or me time. When going bring along your food, snacks, drink, swimming gear, hat, sun screen, nice hiking sneakers, pack extra warn clothes cos it might get chilly. The river and falls itself is noted to have great potentials for sport fishing,it has also been said that theres an area down the river where crocs can be found in their natural habitat.Gurara falls is a place to be, I had lots of fun. Nature is indeed beautiful!Follow @tourwithswagger and @gbogbo_swagger
Always refreshing visiting the falls and seeing the difference between the rainy and dry seasons.
Gurara waterfalls is an amazing tourist attraction in Nigeria state and if you have not been there, I urge you to check the place out. Experiencing the water flow and the tides makes you remember how remarkable nature is...what a beautiful site.
Beautiful place. The waterfalls are soothing to look at. The guides are calm and helpful too.
Ok Gurara is a great place to be especially with friends. This is my 2nd or 3rd time and certainly with friends is a great fun. Going during the rainy season makes the water muddy so perhaps dry season is better if u intend swimming. Also pls and pls ensure u take all ur trash with u...a friend of mine got a deep wound inside the water due to glass piercing her feet.
Amazing..you get a different feel based in when you visit. The low tide during dry seasons has a quite unique view and the water at that time is cleaner and you are able to see parts of the rock and might even be able to soak in a short time at some pools of water. In the rainy season, the force of the water is also a spectacle.I would suggest a double visit at the peak of both seasons.
The place is cool and breath taking but it still needs more attention. No bar nor snacks shop. No hotel nor any form of accommodation or conference hall, when this things are put together am sure it will be a one stop spot for all
Great place to hangout, have a picnic and hike.
