Grove Arcade - Shopping Centre in Asheville, United States
I love this place. The gargoyles are my favorite. The story behind the pig face one is my favorite. The investor that backed out 😝. I wish it was what it was supposed to be.
I grew up in Asheville and I’m always happy to see old landmarks preserved and being used!
This place is so beautiful. The shops are elegant, and everything about the architecture in this building is so detailed and beautiful.
Very pretty architecture. Worth checking out
This is a beautiful old building with individual shops for artisans. Unfortunately many were closed on Sunday and many storefronts are vacant. Those who were open had eclectic jewelry, pottery, original art, and my favorite, a handcrafted hat store. It was so nice to stroll from shop to shop while being protected from the weather. It would be nice to see this location completely filled.
Neat building outside and in. Needs more businesses to fill the place up.
Cool place, GREAT ARCHITECTURE! The shops as so so, not my taste, but I spent an hour just looking at the finer details of the architecture inside the building. Everything was super clean, and well maintained.
A delightful visit with a variety of shops within reach. A pleasant atmosphere, a must for anyone visiting Asheville!
Excellent venue with many great stores, food and a brewery. Cool, authentic building.
Interesting architecture. Chilled here for a bit waiting to visit Asheville pinball museum
Nice place. Businesses are varied but sparse
Don’t let the name confuse you, this is not an arcade. There were many shops and boutiques. Just to describe a few: finger food and drinks, female clothing, art, rocks, fine jewelry, and a few others. I really enjoyed walking through with my fiancé but I would have appreciated just one “guy store”. I truly did like walking through and enjoying being out of the heat with a nice ambiance. The building has many access points from all sides and is not overwhelming.
Nice mall
The ambience and architecture alone are enough to make the Grove Arcade worth a visit. A variety of shops inside and restaurants around its perimeter. The wrought iron railing on the spiral staircases, detailed molding, skylights, and carved faces give the interior an almost-European feel.
Such a cool old building in architecture, detail, and in general, all the stores and restaurants in and around it add to the atmosphere. My two favorite places were the battery park book exchange and enter the earth.Im sure there are many other stores that are worth a mention but those 2 particular places consumed most of my time while there and just admiring all the 1929 details that remain.a great location to admire architecture and design if that kinda stuff tickles your fancy.
Very nice, and super unique! I kinda wish it was bigger, though thats also part of the charm! Definitely recommend the visit!
Theres a few nice restaurants around the outside, but inside theres a lot of empty storefronts and stores that close early. Its cool to walk around but dont plan on spending more than 20-30 minutes in it.
Nice building and architecture in downtown Asheville.
Architecture lovers, this one is for you! This building is on the national register. It just takes my breath away. Take a stroll, get lost in it’s beauty. Don’t forget to look up. They don’t make buildings like this anymore. We decided to stay and had dinner nearby at Huli Sue’s. Delicious. This was the perfect experience.
Cute, cozy, high end in an unique, small building structure. There are few small coffee shops with bakery. It is good to walk around in there with a hot coffee in hands. 30 minutes is max.
Beautiful building for tourism but you can’t access the staircases to go upstairs - you must use the elevator. High end boutiques inside that don’t sell much. Clean and nice public restrooms if you’re shopping in the vicinity.
While the building is gorgeous, it’s definitely over hyped. We came to Grove Arcade on a Tuesday afternoon to kill some time between lunch and dinner. There was hardly anything open and it was 2 PM on a Tuesday.. champagne bar was closed, Asheville Proper was closed, coffee shop was closed… it’s also 50/50 retail and restaurants to office space so there’s actually not much to do in the arcade. I was disappointed… online this place looks like you have lots of options and ways to kill time but we walked through in all of five minutes and was unimpressed. As someone who works in business, I suggest bringing on tenants that are open for most of the day and businesses that stay open… it’s not really an arcade when everything is closed or when it’s all offices for businesses. Overall, this is a waste of a really cool space.
This place is absolutely beautiful! So quirky and so cool at the same time. Plenty of things to look at and buy. Show stopper!
One of the best shopping experiences in Asheville especially at Christmas!
Really nice architecture but we didnt really like the stores and walked through the whole thing in ten minutes.
Lights were nice. Was approached by panhandlers several times while walking in the area. The buskers were good and worth listening to and tipping.
This is cute spot to walk around, visit the unique shops, grab a coffee, or a nice lunch! The inside is beautiful.Note: Its not very big, not that it is a bad thing. But it wont take up a ton of your time if youre in the area and decide to stop by.
The Grove Arcade is a stunning piece of architecture. Its worth walking through even if you dont stop to shop. But there are some interesting shops. Mobilia, the furniture store, has a sister store here which is fabulous. Theres also a nice crystal store here which I go to every time Im in town.
The architecture alone is well worth a visit. However, I wish there was at least a coffee shop to give me a reason to go back. The caliber of shops inside the mall are in the "giftshop" category of stores. Maybe more clothing stores would make it more of a "shopping" experience.
The building itself is beautiful and I really enjoyed walking through it but there were very few shops open both times I went. The shops I was able to explore were high end goods, with very unique or handmade merchandise. They have public restrooms available to the public so if you are exploring the downtown portion of Ashville and need a place to go this is an option. The architecture is gorgeous, it was just sad to see how empty it was. Most likely a product if covid.
Beautiful place!!! it was so kind they had tables and seats for the public, with complimentary tissues!! My favorite place in Asheville:)
Beautiful historic shopping mall. This was built in the early part of the 1900s. It has so many nice shops and restaurants this is a must see when visiting Asheville.
Ive always come here for very special events and occasions - its a great venue for shopping, dining and social gatherings, just as it was from the very beginning when it was constructed during the Roaring Twenties. It is also a grand monument of our hometowns heritage, despite the fact that the skyscraper portion was never built as originally envisioned. Even if the top part doesnt see the light of day in the future, I hope the Grove Arcade as it is now still stands for future generations to visit and treasure.
The most beautiful mall I’ve ever seen, but there aren’t very many good shops. Due to Covid, most shops were closed. Was very disappointed that the Battery Park Exchange was closed 😢
One of the popular place to be in Asheville is Grove Arcade. It was very beautiful and also a center of attraction. Didnt visited any store in particular as It was overwhelming looking at the place. The holiday mode was still on. The christmas tree and the lighting were fascinating. Loved the stores from outside but due to time constraint couldnt visit any of them.
Perhaps not what I was expecting based on reviews and online information? Unique building with interesting architecture and history. Outside are some tables of local crafts. Inside are a few small shops and places to eat. If you are visiting and out exploring the streets its an interesting walk through.
Very nice stuff. Every genre of crafting was on display. And across the street...shopping for Piwi.
Absolutely beautiful historic structure in pristine condition. Shops are mostly local and a bit pricey, but its worth a walk around just to admire the building itself. So glad this structure has survived all these years. Check out the middle of the building for some posters with history of the place.
The name does not do this place justice. The exterior of this giant building is ringed with a variety of good restaurants and youll also find great craft booths set up along the Battery Park side, but once youve explored the exterior, make sure you dont miss the interior of this building. (There are four entrances, one at the middle of each side.It is architecturally and historically a treat to behold and its history is illustrated on tablets at the center, around the elevator. The interior also houses a good number of quaint little shops of interesting variety and if your feet are tired from a long day of exploring, theres always "Wake", a luxurious foot spa located right in there, too!
Great space. Right across from, the parking garage so easy parking. Very nice buddie business owners all around.
Upscale shopping center with higher end shops and unique ornate items. Very clean and well built with beautiful shops and higher end goods. No food available here but it has its own parking surrounding this covered shopping center. Large white building in commercial sector of Asheville.
A great place to shop and eat and just hang out. Something for all ages in or nearby!
Id love this place more if they were open a bit later. Ive only been able to get a good look around once
A great selection of unique shops and great restaurants all located in one building. Close to the center of downtown Asheville.
Great assortments if shops and street side vendors. A must visit destination in Asheville.
I love this shopping mall~ Definitely worth a visit even if just to admire the building. Although Ive been visiting since I was 12, the atmosphere still leaves me spellbound ( definitely look up when you walk inside ). Favorite shop inside is Asheville NC Home Crafts, such beautiful yarn and tool options as well as handmade gifts! I apprenticed with one of their artists a long time ago when the shop was in a different location in the building and still use those skills today~ Theres also outdoor vendor space where local artists can sell their work, very well designed space! The history of the building is worth looking into as well~ This a very special place to me, I hope others enjoy it as much as I do. <3
Great place to beat the heat and get some gift shopping done! A very unique and unusual shopping experience.
Awesome shops very nice people in every shop we visited. The building itself was Beautiful.
Shopping mall, art gallery, local business and restaurants all in the same place. There are places for outside vendors too. Architecture of the building , both interior and exterior are worth looking at closely. Some of the shops are really interesting like grandfather clock shop, yarn shop.
Loved wandering around in the grove arcade. The gem store was alot of fun and we got some delicious dried figs at the little market. The bookstore here was also really cool.
