Beautiful church hosting the beautiful works of young artists like Thomas Trum.
The church is beautiful inside and outAmazing, friendly and informative peopleWonderful historical experience
MoreEnormous church. Very beautiful. Gorgeous wooden ceilings. Entrance is free. At this moment some work is being done inside, it doesnt take away from the experience (sept2020)
MoreVisited when the staircase and viewing platforms were still in place, which gave an unique view of both the city and the interior. Also got a nice demonstration of the bells, as a professional player was on the keys and was taking requests.
Morebeautiful historic place worth visiting. I recommend
Very beautiful old church. People are friendly to help. Good local beer. Architect are really amezing!
MoreGreat atmosphere
A beautiful church in this typical Dutch town of Rotterdam. Marvellous architecture and has the biggest organ in Holland. Musical performances are given regularly around the year. A great experience for history, art and music lovers. An example of culture in the city.
MoreVery beautiful old church. It is very impressive indoor. It is really well worth to see it!
MoreDidnt actually go into the church but we just lived the location and the fair that was in progress when we visited
MoreA beautiful old church, unfortunately not visitable and totally overlooked by tourists
MoreIts big, clean and well taken care off. They sometimes have (freeexhibitions which is cool! I missed a cosy spot to light a candle, there was a beautiful art piece, but little place for reflection.
MoreA beautiful church with great history and educational exhibition within. Very close to the cheese market and short walking distance from station. A must visit when in alkmaar.
MoreInspiring place , an oasis of peace in a vibrant city.
Awe inspiring building - the space is very well used with exhibitions and even a small snack bar - musical performances too.
MoreBeautiful old place to wander around. Be sure to get her before 17:00 to enter the church.
MoreThe lady was very friendly with the information as we leave the church
No longer a religious building, but worthwhile to visit because of its history. Especially the 500 year old organ which is still in use.
MoreA precious jewel!
Peaceful and brightness church. People are friendly to help. Good local beer. Architect are really amezing!
MoreBeautiful church in the beautiful City of Alkmaar, the people are warm and friendly too.
MoreLovely church. The current display (thru 7 July 2019?is fabulous! It describes & details the history of the church through the use of interactive screens. An added bonus is photos of locally well-known photographer depicting 7 signs of mercy.
MoreVisited the church twice with an event. First was on top of the church looking out over Alkmaar. They let you walk just below the ceiling as well to see the historic paintings. An epic building indeed. Later went their for a musical performance. Great scene and well organized.
MoreNice place to see quite big panorama of Alkmaar :)
Beautiful church in a lovely town!
Historic organ. Could do with a little more narration.
Its a church. You can visit the museum inside for which you pay the entrance fee. They have a coffee bar and a souvenir shop in the church. Its also convenient if you need a toilet because its free and clean.
MoreAlthough most ornaments have been removed during the reformation, it still had beautiful decorations, organs and liturgical furniture. Worth a visit if youre in town!
MoreBe fast - till 8th October you can climb to the tower!
The climb able structure on the church at the moment is super ugly but is only temporary. The altar that is visiting is beautiful and combine with a visit to the Museum opposite.
MoreNever seen such a beautiful and spacy church. The floor is spreaded with old tumbstones.
MoreVery nice. You can go up to the roof and the tower by stairs ( for a feeto get some amazing views.
MoreA beautiful old church that has been repurposed to be a venue. You can now host events and concerts in here, even have a drink. Very fun place to check out.
MoreOne of the most iconic buildings in the center of Alkmaar
A most beautiful building now put to many uses including a viewing platform on the roof. A must see.
MoreI like how there is a cafe and toilet in the church and that they played organ music. Really really nice inside.
MoreGreat value for money. Another interesting old place with lots of history.
Excellent view on top of the church, its is a well preserved building
Beautiful former church now in use as a multi-purpose venue.
Beautiful church, old and peaceful.
The Sint-Laurenskerk is constructed in 1470-1518 and in there is the oldest church organ of The Netherlands from 1511.
MoreFree attraction. The had a photographic exhibition featuring the people of the asylum seekers centre of Alkmaar
MoreThe biggest church in Alkmaar, its open to visitation during the week. Its not in the best state of repair, but still a nice example of an old European church. The music playing when we toured was John Lennons "Imagine", which I thought was either ironic or thoughtful in the modern Northern European view of religion.
MoreNice looking church, to bad got no time to go inside
