Groove Bar & Lounge - Bar in Perth, Australia
Amaizing spot with live music, kind staff will welcome you, good drinks, beers and food, you will enjoy!
Great lives music with food and drinks. FYI, for anyone that is an Old Fashion drinker, there was an upcharge on any particular Whiskey/Bourbon for the drink. They use a well alcohol and I was informed it is not good.
Cool place to hang out. Eat nice food. Get a good drink and listen to live music.
Great place for live music, good food and atmosphere.
ALEJBA HOOKED US UP ❤️ awesome live music. best spot in the are
Terrible and unfriendly service.Pricing is in line with this area.Live music is good. Since it is live music the place gets pretty loud and not a place for conversationsOne drink minimum per person. They served a mix of typical bar food ( fries, mozzarella cheesestick). No cover charge. You dont come here for the food, it is stuff you buy at the grocery store. They were unable to split checks. The table was very sticky and the cups probably were a bit dirty so hence the water tasted kind of funny.
Always a great place, but I truly miss Lenard and the Nimrods. Idk if they are still performing there but anytime I went, they werent there. Bring them back
Very good live musicDidnt get why we were asked to leave table and go near the bar
Place is fine, people inside have a weird power trip to determine where people can or cannot stand. They didn’t let one of our friend to be at the front because he stood on a chair and told us we were lucky he didn’t get kicked. Generally very rude, must be feeling great to set their rules in their kingdom.
A bit of a mixture of a dining and party place. This doesnt really work out for me. Staff is very fussy about where you position yourself in the place and keeps on telling you not to sit here and not to stand there. All in all it has more an atmosphere of a beer garden than of a soffisticated soul club. The band consists of very proficient singers and musician but lacks keyboards and horns, to really get the motown sound. It also plays too comercial songs, which seem to satisfy the rather drunk audience but turned me off more than anything else. After two sets I had enough and left, feeling rather dissatisfied. The place doesnt live up to the high NY-music-club-standards. There are definately much better places!
Had a ton of fun. Listened to live music and were able to head to a different bar after this closed for a private show at 9PM. Drinks were great, JC was the best bar tender ever!
Happy hour everyday baby! They have live music too which is always a plus. Forgot to take photos of the food and drinks. But it was an evening well spent!
The worst place Ive ever visited! An incompetent manager first asks you to pay for a table and then tells you to move or leave, explaining that he cares only about profit and not the comfort of customers
Fabulous acts! Fun crowd! Great staff! The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is b/ c if the tight squeeze!
Here and there queer folks experience bias from the usher. Tonight I was told with my relatives who were allowed in, but me. (You don’t want to go in there?I inquired, “why, is the music no good?” For the usher to say to me “we don’t want your kind!” Well you lost my patronage & customers who prefer to be in a more inclusive environment.
Love this place ! i enjoy ever moment being there in that environment. Warm, cozy venue + Staff is amazing !
2 drink min per person as a result the drinks are a higher price for basic beverages. Check out the events calendar to see whos playing. Nice atmosphere
It was a great! The performer and her band was GREAT! The crowd showed love. It was a great place to visit, I will be back.
Great music without a cover charge! Comfortable seating and easy to get a table. However, greasy bland food and weak happy hour drinks.
This would be a great spot if there weren’t so many hassles. 2 drink minimum which was ok until a waiter came up to our table after about 30 minutes to let us know we couldn’t sit without reservations. As we attempted to leave we were forced to buy another drink to satisfy the minimum, which ended up leading to other problems. Why would I pay for drinks if I can’t even sit. Honestly regret coming and spending my money here.
So they didnt say that this amazing place with amazing musicians existed!!! I love it. I will definitely come back especially for Antwon Robinson!!! Hes so fine!
I decided to take in some live music on Friday especially since I knew this i was my weekend to work at the hospital. I made a reservation.travelled there from the North Bronx. I got there and was waiting and waiting to be seated . Another woman was doing the same as others was being seated. Finally she asked what the issue was.it turns out they have a policy that if you are alone you have to stand at the bar even if you have a reservation. Who would have thought especially since I went in the fall by myself and was seated .Moral of the story: if traveling solo don’t waste your time or at least know before go you will be standing.
The Groove was groovy as usual! We stopped by during happy hour for a couple of drinks and to chill. Since we arrived around 5 pm the place wasnt packed yet. It gets packed after 6-6:30 pm when people start coming in for the show which usually starts at 7:00 pm. While there we listened to an upcoming artist who was very good. The bartender was very accommodating. Great atmosphere!
Groove was a dope experience live band good drinks .... Nice time to be in NYC
Great music, but unfortunately no space to dance. Foods is not bad. Drinks are expensive outside of happy hour.
We went on a Saturday around 6pm. Street parking after 6 is free so that was a bonus! The place is small but quaint enough as it got busier closer to 7. Food and drinks were delicious. I had the chicken Alfredo and mango martini. The do include 20% gratuity in the check. Drinks were about $14-16 on average. Bill for 2 entrees and 4 drinks was about $150. Classic new York prices! The 2 bands they had were very nice as well. Only 2 single bathrooms down the narrow stairs. Our servers were friendly and attentive as well. The card you at the door.
This place was SO fun!! The live band was energetic, the crowd was dancing / having dinner, and it was just good vibes overall (On a Wednesday, too!)
Love the spot. Very cozy but dont like the fact when there is a ticketed event they dont have happy hour??? Doesnt make sense. You make more with happy hourt. Small glasses for drinks that are 15 bucks a pop. But overall love the spot.
Service was awful. Waiter did not pay attention to us at all our order had to get sent back several times. The place was overcrowded. People were sitting on top of each other. It was way too hit inside. The food was inedible.
I stopped by here with a friend after a comedy show. Great small cozy place with a live band. If you are covid conscious, it is best to sit on the patio. You can still enjoy the music
Good music, but overpriced drinks with light pours. The bartender was cold and unwelcoming, and they automatically apply a 20% gratuity by default. I typically tip more than that for good service, but the opaque pricing felt manipulative and slimy. Im not anxious to return.
Hate to do this for an establishment going through a lot during the pandemic. I have been here many times whether its Groove or previous establishments.Date- April 13th Wed.Good - Bouncer at the front 5 stars.Host - Black male, 5 stars.Waiter - 4 Stars$$ - reasonable. NO COVER charge.Band - Base, Lead guitar, drums and Black female singer ( How will I know- Whitneyare 5 stars. Big up to the band who did a 90 minute set with out a break.Bad - Horrible sound system. Distortion all night.Sound engineering - No stars.Asian looking female singer may be 3 stars. Her mic wasnt working or she is just not good.Worst - Black male singer. Who was trying to do it too much and pitchy all night. We had videos of the band. I watched it again. Its horrible. I am not trying to be Simon Cowell here. I love good sound. I have a better sound system at home. I go to many places where they have local bands. Just walk down the block to Cafe Wha to listen their sound balance. These are easy fix. I will be back. Hopefully better next time.
Drinks for 15$ were really bad. Instead of Paloma’s grapefruit I’ve got cranberry juice. They didn’t have space inside so We were seating outside by the open window, listening live music and they said they need to close the window 5 mins after we set down, but it was the only reason we stopped by. So we said that. Nobody tried to solve that. Just left us outside like some random table. Never gonna come back.
The place might be small but don’t let that fool. I was there like 2 weeks ago. The band was great! Great ambiance and vibe. Servers are nice. Since it gets so crowded due to the small place, you might have to make a line to get in even if you people inside already with a table. Just in case, probably obvious but you have to keep consuming in order to keep a table. In overall a great fun place, definitely coming back.
Purchased tickets ahead of time online.Got to the show late, but still got a nice table right up front. Staff was nice, and stage and sound were also up to par.
I loved the place, is really nice. Tables are really close one to other so if you are looking for privacy, maybe this is not the place, even though I noticed there were couples having fun. I went with my sister on a Friday almost at 7pm and there was available tables, however two hours later there was a huge line outside to get in. To order food and drinks, they hold your credit card until you ask for the bill and pay (my sister is from Canada and I am from Argentina, and this was really new for us, and therefore uncomfortable), the service was OK but could be better..
On Saturdays, this place has AMAZING live music, the Kyle Lacy band. No cover, but a 2 drink minimum. It was PACKED, but we had no trouble getting in once a few people left which was ~2 min wait outside. Had a blast and will definitely be coming back upon my next visit to NY! 🎶🎉✨
The Kyle Lacy band was the bomb! The big e was amazing and even though the standing room only felt like a mosh pit, we still loved it. No cover but a two drink minimum worked better than a $25 cover charge too. The crowd was super friendly and the drinks were good.
Pros :Great place if you enjoy live music, and the time to go is on Fridays for Antwon and the Black Soul experience. They play R&B jams and the band is talented. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are average.Cons: Place is very small and be ready to sit next to a complete stranger, so forget about sitting next to your date. Drinks can also be weak and not a place you go to if you want engaging conversation with your date, unless you go with 4 people and rearrange your own seating.Still, not a bad place, but definitely would not go on any day other than frisky Friday to make it worth while.Average spent :$110 for 2 mains, 2 drinks, and an appetizer
I cant believe I spent so many years in NYC and never heard about Groove. My first experience was with Ricky Stein on set and it was almost magical. The food was great and the drinks were just the kind youd want while listening to some awesome live music. 10/10 would visit and recommend. they offer live music 7 nights a week, who says no to that?!
Loved this place ! Attended the band on Wednesday night, where a band call NYTempo played beautifully !! The vibes were amazing, people were singing along and dancing, it was an amazing night ! Staff were very nice and helpful as well! 👍🏻 Made our night !
We were a big group stopping by spontaneously for drinks after work; the jazz performance was amazing and the staff was super kind and accommodating. Now it’s our fav new after hours spot in town, we’ll be back for sure
I really enjoyed my Salmon and the drinks were great. The Live band was nice and a pleasure to listen to. Nice variety of music played.
This is where my Fathers Day started. My son manages here; this was a gift from him(lord knows his mother and I needed a date night. Thx son! The Groove and Cafe Wha? are owned by the same people, which makes for a great combo. The sidewalk seating reminded us of St. Martin, one of my favorite islands, and the food was superb! There was also great live entertainment, which rounded out the experience perfectly! A short walk down the block to the Cafe for the James Brown review made for a night of dinner and entertainment I thought were long gone. Heres a taste of what they offer...
This place is a gem. The whole vibe and atmosphere is amazing as soon as you work in. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food was great and delicious, as were the drinks. The loved the live performance. I would definitely recommend coming here to anyone.
Like I said many times “What brings me back to a business is good customer service and hospitality.”So we walked into the Groove for dinner and drinks. After we found a table. We waited a few minutes to look at the menu before flagging down a busy waiter. He said he would be right back. We waited 15 minutes and he never came back. We were hungry and wanted to buy drinks. We were patient, waited a few more minutes and no one came. It was now 20 minutes later. So we flagged down a waitress. She was very kind and happy to help us with our order. She gave us good customer service and hospitality. Actually it was two different waitresses who gave us great service. I gave the second waitress a big tip. I wish I got her name but she was tall. And the short waitress was great to. Thank you for the great service. We had good time! ☺️
The love music here is awesome!! The band Coffee & Biscuits had the vibe right. The lead singer was so entertaining & fun. The drinks & fries were great but I wasnt as impressed with the other food options.Go for the live music & drinks!
Nice little surprise. Work around this area and wanted a grab to eat. Was tired of the same places and wanted a lunch special. Checked online and said it was closed, but was open for lunch. 15 dollar entree and a choice of beer or wine.food was amazing chicken sandwich worth the money. They have live music, outdoor sitting and a big area to sit with friends so give it a shot
One word...Fantastic.The black soul experience was unforgettable. This band will play at my fictional future wedding (if I have any say so lol). From the introduction groove to set the mood to the band leaders crowd work, this show makes for a great date night or even just a casual drinks and live music night. If you enjoy soulful classics, top Michael Jackson hits, One of the best Prince impressions Ive seen in all of my years, and a some pretty tasty drinks, Groove makes for a great summer night.Ill be back to enjoy more live music.
