Grizzly Creek Trailhead - Hiking area in Carbondale, United States
Great walking trail into the woods along a creek.
Well maintained trail, somewhat narrow. Some short rocky areas to navigate up. Not difficult though.
They delete the bad reviews. CDOT is behind the closures and have paid off the weather service (I assumeto have an excuse to close it. They put out flash flood watches even when its sunny for miles. They allow the raft companies to access it but not the public. So obviously the raft guides would not be running the river if there was a concern for flooding. I dont know what their up to but they sure love the control.
Pretty creek. Refreshing cold in summer. There are apricot trees in the trail 👀
Really nice stop. There is few place to check out there. Beautiful river. Perfect for a picnic
Beautiful hike along the creek. Directions to the trailhead didnt work well, but we found it eventually.
burn scar about 2 miles up...the growth prior 2 is great. Im happy to see green.
Great easy hike along the river, meant for all ages.
Great stop on the road to Denver nice little hike Colorado River right there really good rest area
*****Update July 2021*****Plan Ahead!i70/Glenwood Canyon frequently closed for safety and/or resulting mud slide. Travel is most likely impacted in the afternoon due to frequent storms/rainshowers. Check cotrip.org for current status. Plan ahead by checking weather.gov for potential rain.Best rest area imaginable. Take in a bit of nature, knowledge, and stretch your legs. Mid-June will limit to foot traffic only
Fabulous hike, definitely can see where the fires took a toll from last year though. After mile 2ish it is a little more exposed but the trail is intact and still beautiful!
Clean and scenic. Lots of rainbows visible in the pools. Are dogs Club jumping into the water every chance they could. Was mostly in easy walk is being moderate in difficulty.
Beautiful scenery. Wonderful trails. If on I70 in Western Colorado. Take the exit and enjoy nature
One of the most beautiful, serene, and scenic places Ive been! To be at the junction of the Grizzly Creek and the Colorado River, and witness the majesty of the canyon is just stunningly beautiful!
Stunningly beautiful and a great hike - we went as a family (4 year old and dog in towand all of us had a great time. The sound of rushing water, the smell of fresh cedar/pine, the mountain views - it was exactly the ideal forest/mountain hike.
Great little spot @ trail.
Trails to walk. Nice place to stop off I-70. Still a lot of damage from the fires in the area.
Great Hike Beautiful views
Beautiful and relaxing especially when traveling its a good place to take a break.
Okay this place might be a trailhead but its also a rest stop. I was pleasantly surprised when I stopped here. Not only was it beautiful and clean, but it was along the river where you can get in the water with your dog. Great place to stop and have a snack and relax. Grab a blanket and lay in the grass.Right now theres construction on the freeway at this exit, so get off the freeway and take a break. You wont regret it.
Incredible trail! It was beautiful and there were many side trails that went to the creek where you could get in. We brought our dog and she loved it. It’s not too difficult of a trail but it’s long which makes it a little more strenuous. We can’t wait to go back and do it again.
A great trail to hike when passing thru. Spring when high flows and fall are best. But any time is great when you need to get the blood flowing again
Nice rest stop. Can get down by the river to take a break from traveling.
If you want awesome pictures, especially in the winter, stop here. Colorados best rest area..There is a boat launch and a hiking trail. A real trail.
Nice long hike [averaged out about 6 miles before my partner wussed out]. It does get narrow and steep in places. Intermediate/bit difficult hike if youre not used to the altitude.
One of my favorite trails! The river keeps it nice and cool and it has plenty of shady parts where you can take a break. The path does narrow and get a little steep, but its pretty gradual!
Lovely place and beautiful scenery!
Amazing trail with plenty of spots to wet your feet. Wished we would have been better trained to go all the way. Beautiful and quiet.
Spectacular hiking trails. Go as short or as far as youd like. A must for those looking to stretch their legs while on a long drive. Spectacular drone flying if you are into that.
Great trail to hike or run next to the river
When you are driving through those breathtaking mountains make sure to stop at this location and enjoy an amazing break from the road. You wont regret it, and you can use a few minutes to breathe in the freshest air while you Meditate and ease your mind as you absorb this serene spectacular place.
I♥️ it
What a beautiful area. So many gorgeous stoping points even if you dont make it to the end of the trail.
Stopped here on the drive through CO and was pleasantly surprised that the rest area was also a trailhead! We hiked for just a bit and it was a nice break. Rest area was well-maintained.
So beautiful and peaceful. Great place to sit and watch rafting and kayaking. Easy access to the water from a paved walkway. You dont have to be athletic to visit this trail!!!!
Very very beautiful. Hiked 6 miles fro. Glenwood to grizzly creek then another 7 up the trailhead. What a day...
So beautiful. What a nice place to stop and take a break while driving through the area.
Great rest stop...so beautiful.
Its a cute little rest stop with a pokestops and gym.
Absolutely gorgeous trail. We initially went to the Jess Weaver trail, but there was no parking so we chose this one instead. There was plenty of parking right by the trail. The trail itself was beautiful and it wasn’t very crowded at all. We did go on a weekday, so I can’t say what it looks like on the weekend. It was a fairly easy trail, just a bit rocky in some places but our two dogs, one older and one just a year old, did just fine. Everyone on the trail was friendly and it was well maintained.
Great trail, well maintained and moderately easy hike up along the creek side.
Such an awesome view, went about 3 miles up. The elevation is just a tadddd bit different from Flordia!
It was pretty snowy so just went back a short distance from the highway. But being right off road is convenient. The turn in could be tricky to see so pay attention. The river running through is very cool and being in a valley makes the views north and south wonderful.
Good hike after 8 hours of driving.
I went 1/4 mile up the trail for the prayer & dedication of the picnic table made in honor of Dr. Bill Bevins. He was and is loved by all who knew him.
Great trail to hike. Wheather you are coming into Glenwood or crossing through. Great spot to pull over and hike either a couple of hours or the full route (camping equipment would be required).
Pretty little hike. If your heading up to hanging lake and its full or just wanna hike else where check out this one. They also have bathrooms & drinking fountain with a water bottle fill station at the trailhead.
Lovely walk along the creek through a side gorge. There are a couple of picnic tables along the first quarter mile that are nicer than the ones next to the expressway.
Beautiful place to take family for a walk
Is a wonderful rest area to stop at the trails are beautiful. Just a great place to get out and stretch your legs and take a nice long walk very relaxing
