Grizzli Winery - Winery in Kelowna, Canada
Grizzli Winery in Kelowna
Description
Honestly if I could rate a zero for the wines I would. My wife and I drove by the winery and thought it looked really impressive so we turned around and went in for a tasting. We got inside and the building was absolutely beautiful but that was it. Don’t even bother with a tasting. The wine was worse than bad They charged us $15 each for a tasting that was awe full and even told them that we didn’t like anything as we didn’t finish the samples. They offered us dessert wine tasting to make us happy and after saying no a couple times finally accepted WELL GUESS WHAT !!!! They charged us for that too…. $38 total for a tasting of terrible wine that we couldn’t even stomach BTW this is the first review of anything I have ever written
MoreGrizzli Winery is a lovely place where has the best ice wine🍷.The white ice wine tasting was so beautiful♥The red ice wine was really amazing!!!
MoreI feel like if youre going to charge $15 for a wine tasting it better be a measured 9oz and Id rather be sitting down instead of standing at a bar. Maybe the wine is good, but we didnt stick around to find out.
MoreWe attended a Paws it Forward fund raiser on Oct 1/22. It was a wine experience, night market and concert. Lovely setup in such a beautiful location. We enjoyed the booths, bought two bottles of wine (one we drank listening to entertainer). The venue is so wonderful, we enjoyed a fall sunset and oh yes the park/Amphitheatre had lots of pups including ours! Great night, Cheers
MoreAwesome movie night watching Mamma Mia. They had the most incredibly comfy chairs & twinkle lights in the trees. It was a beautiful setting. Wine tasting was available, and they had a gorgeous tasting room with clean bathrooms. The young girl at the host station, welcoming movie watchers was so pleasant & kind. Great hospitality from her! Would definitely do another movie night at Grizzli!!
MoreThis is such a great idea! The location is perfectly set to host the event. I feel like it was well-planned from your first interaction with a greeter to the games, movie selections, and food availability. It would be a nice touch to invest in outdoor heaters and possibly a vendor that serves hot beverages. Will be doing this again. (p.s. The CINEMA sign is fantastic!)
MoreWhat a beautiful experience !!! I had the opportunity to visit this past weekend and attend a friend’s wedding. The service was great and we had such a lovely evening trying their wines. The art gallery and space was also spacious and well decorated. Must come back to visit soon 👌🍾☺️
Moreamazing experience at the grizzli winery! personally love the ice wine selection as im not a huge drinker myself. loved the hospitality of their staff and will definitely recommend this place for anyone passing through!
MoreWhat a lovely evening! Nothing could have been more perfect. A great time with friends, yummy food from the food truck, perfect weather, a gorgeous sunset, of course the wine and kettle corn, and the cherry on top, a harvest moon. This is the best of the Okanagan!
MoreIt was an enjoyable evening and the event was well organized - comfortable seating, blankets for those who needed them, food, snacks and games to help pass the time before the movie. Reminiscent of drive-in theatres for those who remember that experience.
MoreGrizzli Winery provides a great experience by offering live music, local artists on display in the gallery, and artisan products for sale. But my favourite is movie night. <3
MoreThe staff is very friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed watching a movie outside while enjoying one of their wonderful wines. Blankets and very comfortable chairs were available for the movie. I live in Lake Country but well worth the drive.
MoreWe live in Kelowna and our first visit to Grizzli was September 2nd for Happy Hour with Poppa Dawg entertaining. We had some wine and the charcuterie board and everything was excellent. The staff were so thoughtful, courteous and genuinely wanted to make sure our time there was great. Well done! We will be back.
MoreMila was amazing! She gave us all the details we needed to appreciate the wine we tasted. Would happily return to try some more delicious ice wine!
MoreWe went to a music event and a doggy event on August 26th. There was less than 20 people inside listening to the band playing, so I felt really bad for them, singing to an empty house. The doggy event was very disorganized, there were supposed to have been dogs up for adoption, but we looked several times and never saw any and there was no one around to ask. The pop-up puppy booth was just one table with a few items for sale. We didnt realize that the movie was an animated show for children, so when we realize that, we decided to leave after the music event as there was a one and a half hour wait after the music event before the movie started and there was nothing going on at all. They had said there were going to be games and we assumed they were going to be games for dogs, but they turned out to be games for children. It was a very disappointing evening.
MoreWe went to 5 wineries today, this is the place that we found a wow ice wine, the Gewürztraminer, the gentleman manning the bar is very attentive and friendly, I would shortlist this winery on the wine tour for those with limited time.
MoreWe had wonderful experience at the winery. Our host, Summer gave us the winery tour. She was very nice and knowledgeable. We tasted 5 different wines and really liked most of them. Highly recommended to have full Estate tour.
MoreGreat late afternoon with friends spent at Grizzli. Wine tasting then a bottle to share with a cheese platter. Music was amazing- just found the visiting dog ruined the ambiance with its howling and barking during the great blues musician. overall a great early evening
MoreI was hesitant because of the lower Google rating, but Im so glad we decided to check out Grizzli and make up our own minds. This stop resulted in two of our favourite wines from our Kelowna trip. The cabernet franc and the ice wines are especially delicious. The architecture is beautiful, the art show was a pleasant touch and the service was friendly and attentive. Grizzli has a slightly more corporate feel than quirky smaller wineries in the area, but theyre still producing fantastic wines and offering great service in a beautiful setting. Give them a try!
MoreWhile the staff member and the facility were amazing…the wine wasn’t so amazing. Each sample had a very strong alcohol fragrance, thought at first it was the glass itself but realized it was the wine. With a steep tasting fee of $15 you definitely don’t get what you pay for when it comes to quality.
MoreTerrible communication and completely disorganized and unprofessional. I went to a very calm/respectful wedding at this venue back in May and they kicked the entire wedding out 3 hours earlier than what was communicated/paid for and couldnt provide any reason why. I cant imagine being in charge of a venue and kicking out an entire wedding 3 hours earlier than what was agreed upon for no reason with last minute communication. Very inconsiderate and a great way to ruin what would have otherwise been a fantastic wedding. What a horrible experience.
MoreGreat Wine Tasting ExperienceA very great place to visit and we had the best experience from this winery. This guy Bruce helped us choose what’s the best ice wine in town. He is very friendly and accommodating. He’s also knowledgeable not only with the wines but knows exactly what the customer wants and needs. I’m truly impressed of his positive personality and service ( White Ice-wine- Sauvignon Blanc- is one of my favourite 👍🏻Very Delicious! Not to mention, we’ve been here twice but the atmosphere is still very inviting… Highly recommend stopping in for a tasting (especially if youre an enthusiastand enjoying the view.Once again, the best stop of the trip. Thanks to Bruce for helping us and we’ll definitely come back again.
MoreSummer really made our time at Grizzli special. She was extremely kind and gentle - especially with our newborn. She did an outstanding job with our group. I wish we could have stayed even longer. Beautiful winery!
MoreI was served by the name Bruce and He was very Talented and Friendly! He was very knowledgeable about the culture or winery and explained it very thoroughly to us! He was very smiley despite the Mask! I would love to go back again with my own Family this time! I was going with my Boyfriend’s Family in this trip. I hope to see you all again! Thank you very much for the wonderful experience 🥰
MoreI would recommend this winery to people who love ice wines. Ive never been to a winery before that had all of their ice wines available for tasting on their tasting menu. Most places tend to only have 1, 2 at the most. I ended up going home with 1 of each ice wine.
MoreTotally enjoyed an evening with friends for outdoor live music at Grizzli Winery. Wine bar was outside as well as a food truck. Comfy chairs and blankets as the evening began to cool were available.
MoreMy family and I had a spectacular time tasting and purchasing ice wines at the Grizzli Winery. Most of this wonderful experience was because of Bruce. Bruce was a staff member who introduced us to many wines with a positive and knowledgeable attitude. We hope to come by again one day!
MoreBest icewine I’ve had. Gewuztarminer icewine is so good and they also have very special and rare rad icewine. Their gallery is very beautiful too.
MoreAlthough I didnt care as much for the wines, the hospitality and beautiful interior of Grizzli earns 4 stars. It had been raining and they let us park our bikes inside the doorway to dry off. The server also turned on the fireplace for us while we did our flight. Apparently theres a good happy hour with live music here too.
MoreHad the most wonderful experience at Grizzli this afternoon. The winery was spacious, the ambience appealing, and the displays attractive. Oxana, our sommelier, was not only knowledgeable in wines but extremely engaging and friendly. She made the whole experience perfect. Would definitely recommend Grizzli!
MoreWe recently had an event at this place. And although its a beautiful winery the whole experience was brought down. We were a group of 12 we did a wine testing and had a picnic using their space. We were interrupted half way through our meal being interrogated with an unpaid $15 drink sangria bill. Thats 1 drink. Many of us bought several bottles of wine. I feel like this could have been handled differently. Waiting for us to finish our meal would have Been great. We left with a bad taste in our mouth about the whole experience.
MoreVisited this winery w a group of about 10 ppl June 4th for a celebration. We all did and paid for a tasting, and a few ppl bought bottles. And honestly, none of the wines were very good. Two wines I’m usually a fan of were not up to standard. One bottle had gone off. Then mid meal a staff member insists one drink had not been paid for- 4 of us ordered and received sangria. Our group had proof all 4 drinks served had been paid for. The staff chose mid meal to address this and not let it go. Our star guest of the group had to pay for it so we could get on w our celebration. Disappointing, won’t go back.
MoreThe tour of the winery & facilities was top drawer, and certainly more informative than others I have been on. That said, the biggest disappointment with our day was when we got home and opened the wine we had purchased. Two bottles of different varietals and both were skunky smelling and poor tasting - one was so bad that even after running through a carafe etc we had no choice but to throw it (and $40out. At the end of the day it is the wine that sells the winery and much more focus is required on the process here - we are not all offshore ice wine buyers.
MoreBeautiful Building however wines were off the mark.Old whites, some should not even be sold ! I am not sure they know what they are doing with wine.As a former wine industry person I understand how wine is made & preserved. There are some basic things that are flawed at this winery. Generally wine has to be a minimum of 12% to preserve itself, otherwise the wine should be consumed within a year or 2, 3 maximum.Low alcohol wines can also be a sign that the grapes were not properly ripe at harvest. Because we are a cooler climate for wine grapes In BC wineries are allowed to add sugar , which is inexpensive to get the wine ferment to 12% where it will remain moderately stable for several years. Most whites and reds are 13% or more these days.We went to this winery to look at the art show which was excellent. After seeing it was $15 per person to just sample the wine, we thought we should just buy a bottle and walk around checking out the artWhen we got the Vionier it was a 2017 which was surprising, we expected something only a year or 2 max for a white.5 years was a red flag for a white.Upon smelling it it was clear it was oxidized. We could not drink it, I took it to the counter and explained it was oxidized, the staff person said "your not the first to say that today". Anyways they brought another and it was even worse. We asked for anything that was not oxidized, they gave us another 2017 white that was only 11% , server said it was 13.5% but when checked on the label it was just 11%it was barely ok to drink but by the end of the glass it was going off. Simply put they should not be selling old oxidized wine..We did not try any reds so maybe those are better.Sorry to have to write a review like this as the building is nice and staff friendly
MoreWe went for the outdoor jazz music night on Friday. The service was just okay- two out of the 3 people working there couldn’t answer basic questions about the food and baskets they sold there. Only one food truck showed up for the event so it didn’t leave us much option. It was really cold even tho we brought a blanket and sweaters. We didn’t have a table and instead of giving us the table that no one was sitting at they gave us an upside down crate to eat our food and drinks off of. The music was good but we left halfway through the show. I wouldn’t book an outdoor event like that in May.
MoreWhat a great event space. The indoor and outdoor spaces are spectacular. I would definitely attend future events at Grizzli. The wine is a little "different". The whites were all sweeter than I like but my friends really enjoyed the Reisling paired with Lobster Rolls. The view of the lake is lovely and the setting is so beautiful. Its not far from Kelowna, so an easy drive. I would recommend this venue.
MoreOutdoor event was freezing due to wind. Many people left after the first set. Could have been moved to the sheltered courtyard even. Patrons indoors extremely rude when we used washroom and went inside to defrost between sets.On a positive note, it was nice to be able to taste the 3 red wines available for sale inside before buying a bottle at the outdoor wind tunnel.
MoreAbsolutely wonderful experience. We decided on the meat and cheese wine flight and it is one you must try! Oxana and Bruce helped us and they were both wonderful hosts. Oxana brought us the wines and informed us on which wines paired well with each cheese/meat. She was very informative and knowledgeable. I highly recommend!
MoreLovely place. Nice vibe, friendly people. A trendy and approachable winery.
The architecture is impressive from outside, but thats it! Wide space, but they didnt know how to create an ambiance. The wine tasting... do not go! just do not go! Save the time, the money and your taste buds! Unfortunately for them and us, the wine is terrible. Hard to describe, but with no doubt the worst wines I have tasted so far. I wish them luck in the improvement of their products.
MoreOksana was wonderful throughout the entirety of our wine tasting. She is very knowledgeable of the wine, very friendly, and offered some fantastic recommendations on which wines to purchase (which we did). Overall, we had a great experience at the Grizzli winery simply due to Oksana’s service and expertise. Would absolutely recommend, and hope you have her as your host.
MoreHad a wonderful evening at the stunning Grizzli Winery. I recommend the 2014 Cabernet Franc Reserve. We had the Artisan Charcuterie and enjoyed music by the very talented Jessica Le
MoreI visited Grizzli for the first time for their live music and night market. I brought my dog and really loved how it was a family and pet friendly place. The wine is great and the staff are super friendly! Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area
MoreWent to the Friday night Night Market. It was pretty good; the lobster roll at the Lobster Pot was ok (had much better in Novia Scotia), did the wine tasting inside the overly spacious winery which some were not bad, the solo musician inside was actually decent but the live band outside was not worth the 25$ cover, luckily I did not pay.
MoreCame from Toronto to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, and I cant think of a better place to kick back and relax. A glass of great wine in one of the most beautiful wineries I have ever seen, while surrounded by the breathtaking backdrop of the great west coast interior. The staff is professional and the ambience is perfect for every occasion. Would definitely recommend to stop by with friends and family, or even as a nice retreat for yourself.
MoreThe winery was great, the architectural design of the place was amazing. The wine tasted lovely. The staff were all knowledgeable and friendly, which made our experience that much greater. The ice wine was fantastic and would recommend that to anyone that goes. We went for the vineyard tour which was really fun. I would highly recommend this winery for anyone traveling to Kelowna for a mini vacation!
MoreCompany trip, wonderful experience! Bruce is very patient and speaks Mandarin! Spectacular oil paintings are around. MUST-GET for girls: Riesling & Viognier and any kind of ice wine.
MoreGreat looking facility and friendly staff. Bruce at Grizzli made us feel very welcome and was helpful in making selections for purchase. A young winery, but the owners are obviously heavily invested in its success. It shows. Particularly enjoyed the ice wine selection
MoreWe found this lovely place on a Kelowna wine tour in 2017. When to first pull into the parking lot you are greeted by a nice group of espalied grapes that they use for the wonderful ice wine that they make. Our tour was guided by Distinctively in Kelowna. Great tour guide. Once out of the bus you then get to see this massive, handsome building that is just amazing given its size and its attitude. It just means business by looking at it. (I have a fascination with timber frame buildings). Then you get to go inside. For a tasting and to check out the shop. Beautiful. The ice wine is like the best you can imagine. We bought 10 bottles between our group. Then as we were leaving the parking lot, our guide filled us in a bit about the owner and his current situation in life......I must say......Jon Chang, you are amazing to have created this place, and wherever it goes and wherever you are, Thank You for Grizzli Winery. It was something I wont soon forget! #LetsGuide
MoreOutside looks really nice and impressive. But the inside is very empty and hollow feeling. Pricing looked alright but in was the most boring stop of our winery visits. They have the same products over and over to try and fill the space. A/C was nice and they had some interesting desert wines. But just not worth the visit.
