Airy, design-savvy stop for classic & modern Mexican dishes from tacos to burgers to tequila drinks.
Are they ever going to open back up. They are needed downtown....
I loved it when it was open, but now Im tired of seeing the "well be back soon" sign thats been up for a year. Their social media accounts are also inactive and for this length of time I know the og employees are now working elsewhere. Let another restaurant move in already.
I wish this place would either re-open OR close for good already, so another business could move-in. Theyve been "temporarily closed," since covid hit. Its a real shame too, bc this is prime location in downtown being wasted... Plus, I heard this place was great when they were open. Would love to try it!
This place is AMAZING!!! The best Mexican food I have ever ate & that’s even saying it’s better than Mexican restaurants I’ve ate at in Arizona!! So clean & nice!! Even threw covid they had everything just awesome!! Highly recommend the visit + such cute photo opportunities!!
Great atmosphere and wonderful waitress. We had the frozen slushies and they were delicious. The peach is my new favorite. Love all of the dips they gave us with chips and pollo loco was amazing!
My husband and I made Gringos our first foodie stop in Saint Louis on our trip. Our server, Jenny, was fantastic..so accommodating and attentive. The food was delicious and promptly served. We felt the prices were very fair (we went early and enjoyed complimentary chips and salsas too). Highly recommend!!
INCREDIBLE restaurant. The staff was friendly with excellent service from start to finish. The food and drinks were fresh, delicious, and full of flavor! I will definitely be returning many more times.
We had a great dinner with some delicious margaritas. This staff is working hard and keeping the restaurant clean to welcome their guests into a safe environment. This is a place to support during this crazy and stressful time!!!
We stumbled upon this place and loved it. Our server Trevor was awesome. He was attentive and helpful with menu items. We had chips and salsa, some kind of chicken burrito type bowl, and tacos. Everything was delicious and the prices were reasonable
My husband and I truly enjoyed the whole visit. Started with delicious guacamole and salsa. Highly recommend the Margaritas and the tacos. We had the brisket, steak and chicken varieties. Enjoy! Our server was so pleasant too!
The Gringo burger was delicious! The fries have a unique crisp to them, but in no way was I going to be able to finish the entire mountain of them!
Great service. Drinks are awesome 🥰... Food and drinks very good
Excellent modern mexican food. Had the guacamole burger and street corn, both delicious. Chips and salsa great. Very good service and cool atmosphere.
Zac was amazing! Great vibes, drinks, food and happy hour! A one stop shop! #GoJanea
It was really good. The only reason why I didnt give five stars is because it was freezing inside.I thought it would end up costing us a ton but five tacos and a churro / ice cream dessert and drinks was only $30.My tacos were too spicy for my liking but I clearly didnt know what the sauce was that came on it. My husband didnt think it was too spicy and he had the same as me and another one that was even more spicy.Service was quick and friendly and he was very attentive without being annoying. The atmosphere was nice and it was right down town which made for good people watching. Well definitely be back.
The place is fancy. Nice and clean. The people are awesome.. We were just walking around looking for food and we saw Gringo.. My wife was, what is that? And I said it looks like a nice place.. GREAT FOOD, DRINKS AND FOLKS. If you get a chance to visit St. Louis, you must stop at Gringos. We will be back again.. Lovely experience..
Friendly service, nice decor. Food was delicious and the margaritas were great
It was a gem an absolute gem my girlfriend pulled me in when all I wanted was bbq. And it was a much different speed then I expected. Our server was warm and inviting and the food was outstanding. For a restaurant that looks more like a nightclub I was floored by the comfortable enjoyable meal my girlfriend and I had strongly suggested to anyone.
Great atmosphere, and staff were really accommodating. Food was nice size portions with a good price.
The design and atmosphere is great. Great spot for a date night with a good tequila selection.BUT...the service was very slow and it wasn’t really busy. They also messed up my order, I paid to have some extras in my burrito and they definitely weren’t in there. Kind of disappointed, this spot is close to my house and I was stoked to try it :(
The atmosphere here is very trendy and inviting. The food portions are perfect for the price point! I got a few tacos and none of them disappointed. My husband really likes Mission: Taco Joint and since we moved downtown, he prefers this place. Comparatively, this place has much better flavor and portion sizes. Loved their nachos and fries as well. Pleasantly surprised with those! The queso is a bit too nacho-esque for me, but overall, we love this place!
We visited St. Louis for a conference and found this place on our second night in town. We loved it so much that we went back the following two nights. The food was flavourful, the portions were great for the price, and our server Kevin was amazing! Definitely try this place if you are in St. Louis!
The margaritas and guacamole were really good and they have a good happy hour. I asked if the salad that I ordered was spicy and the waiter said no and then it was spicy. It also took forever to get our checks and we had to go to the bar to request them and then go to the bar because our waiter wouldn’t come back to get our checks. It wasn’t bad but it’s not a must go.
Great place to get lunch, some dishes are a little spicy including the children’s menu. Only a block away from the MetroLink.
I saw the tacos on the menu and had to try them. I also got a steak burrito. It took about 30 min to get my food. I sat at the bar and had one drink. I asked the bartender what was taking so long and she replied "oh they have a lot of orders to fill". I looked to my left and right. Customers on both sides ordered right before I did and they got their food within 10 min. I noticed the place was not that busy. There were two tables waiting either for food or to be waited on. I chuckled and look at her and said okay. She went to the back and stayed there for another 5 min. When she came back out she had my food. I wonder if they forget to make my order. The tacos were not that good and I had more burrito than meat. So disappointing.
The steak tacos were delicious. My husband had a fish and a brisket taco, he said both were very good. My kids also enjoyed their food. Our waiter was good at his job.
I was really eager to try this place and love supporting the newer resturaunts in the area. I stopped in for a quick drink. As I proceeded towards the bar a woman with glasses rudely announced that they were no longer making drinks. It was twenty minutes until they were scheduled to close but still I understood that is until she told the bartender to pour shots for those that were working. So there I was a paying customer unable to buy a drink and watching all the employees take shots. I was shocked and have never seen such poor service. Needs new management. I will not be back.
After attending the Blues Victory Parade, we decided to walk around St. Louis a bit since it was impossible for us to extricate our car from the parking garage. We ended up on Washington Ave and decided to have dinner at Gringo. Upon arriving, knowing it was busy, we expected a relatively lengthy wait. We were told 2 hours. It was probably less than an hour in reality. I liked how they logged us in and we could check our status on the Yelp! app. We sat at a table on the street where a few other parties were. One table was enjoying dinner out there while we waited. Not once did the waiter serving those tables bother to ask us or anyone else if we desired any drinks or anything. Luckily our wait didnt turn out to be too long. Upon being seated our waiter greeted us and began reviewing the menu. He recommended a margarita and I agreed to it. They have a high opinion of their margaritas. I wasnt impressed. for $11 I expected more. See drink photo attached. We ordered queso and chips and found it to be very nice and tasty. I though the chips were a bit thicker than I would have liked but they were okay. Im not sure if they were baked in house or not. For dinner I ordered steak burrito. The sauce on top was fantastic. It had a very deep and spicy flavor. I really enjoyed the food which makes it that more disappointing that I forgot my leftovers in the car only to find them the next day... Overall the food is really good and the drinks, at least the one I had, were over priced. Worthy of a 4 rating but not a 5.
Traveled to St Louis for a weekend getaway. Decided to stop at Gringos for a mid afternoon bite. We had such an amazing experience! Love the decor and atmosphere! Eric was our waiter and did a phenomenal job! So kind and attentive. The food was amazing. Would highly recommend this place!
After eating at Gringo Tacos + Burgers I will add it to my list of favorite places to eat downtown. This restaurant is next to some stiff competition with the likes of Sugarfire and Pie Pizzaria right next door, but with the quality of food here Gringo Tacos + Burgers is here to stay. I tried their burger and highly recommend it, especially with the upgrade to the Gringo fries. Next time youre downtown dont forget to swing by!
Came here while I was visiting St. Louis for the weekend and I would recommend trying this place out. The bottomless chips and salsa did not disappoint, they were well priced and came with three different dips. The main dishes were decently sized enough to fill up a growing young man like myself. The drinks and atmosphere were pretty good as well for a weekend visit.
Waiter was absolutely wonderful. Food was good but not great. Drinks were delicious. All the staff treated us great. Portions were very big, so very good value for your money. You will not leave hungry.
Cant speak for most of the food items there, but the margaritas were okay. Beer was a bit off as if they werent cleaning tap lines well. Salsa and chips selection was pretty good but definitely had no kick and had an interesting sweetness.
Service was great and fast food was delicious
The good: nice atmosphere. The drink and their fries were great. Outdoor seating is a positive. The bad: I got a gringo burger. Wife got a guacamole burger. Looked good, but not the taste. Mine was very dry, not much flavor. Bread a bit hard. Wife’s wasn’t as dry as mine, but it was pretty bland.I would only go again for the drinks and side dishes.
Very good food! We were in town for a convention and went for dinner, it was very busy and we had to wait an hour, but I was told they are only busy like that when theres a convention going on. I had the house sangria and it was great. The queso was probably the best I have had, it had pickled red onions in it and was delicious!
Good food, not usually packed. Sometimes the service is great, sometimes its just okay. Almost no appetizer options (just different combinations of salsa, queso, and chips). Machetes are good, burritos are good. I havent had a burger there, but the wait staff always recommend you dont get one for some reason. Mixed drinks are really good but on the pricier side. Parking is a nightmare.
Our waitress was very pleasant and well informed about the items on the menu. The house-made salsas are very flavorful and delicious. There are generous portions of meat on the taco and they were perfectly prepared. The atmosphere is very lighthearted and inviting, almost like visiting a good friends home and they decided to cook for you. The prices are very reasonable and will not break the bank. I most certainly will come back and will recommend it to friends.
They had the best burgers and best shredded chicken on taco salad ever made!!! We got another order on the side to go!
We had a great time at Gringo! Our server was very kind, patient and welcoming. We’re in from out of town, and found the atmosphere to be friendly, welcoming and kind. We loved the $3 tequila for happy hour. Also, the staff were super friendly, and the bathrooms were really nice.
My burrito was great, however the other 3 people in our party got the wrong orders. Since we waited 45 minutes for their Tacos, they just dealt with it. Will try again some time.
This was my 1st time coming here. As soon as I walked in I almost walked right out due to a strong overwhelming fish smell. Following by a little confusion on being seated. But once I got past the smell and the seating situation, Our server was great and the food was pretty good. Over all 3 which the server help get it back to a 3. It was good but probably not somewhere I am gonna have gotta return craving.
I loved the colors and the atmosphere of the place. The greeter was so cheery and I loved that. However, when it came to ordering our food, I didn’t really care for the service of our waitress, she didn’t really look enthused which kind of made my experience less enjoyable. Also, I wasn’t pleased with the portion of fish that came with my dish, but they fixed it immediately. The chips and salsa was great! I will still give this place another go in the future.
Ok. Nice spacious spot. I recommend military discount tho
This new spot has a lot of growing to do. The only thing we really enjoyed were the chips and salsa. The drinks were average. Dont get the Frozen Marg - our waiter agreed. Out party got a variety of entrees and more than half of us were not pleased. Taste was either bland or not worth the money. This included the beef machete, rice, black beans, and chimichanga. I will say our server was good and overall service was great for a party our size.
Amazing food! The service was incredible! Elaina took such great care of us! I had the Mexican sangria and a carbonater machete. It was a delicious pairing and I highly recommend it.Definitely a great spot for lunch if you’re downtown or even better as a dinner spot for a night on the town.
Visited last night with a girlfriend, we happened to stumble upon this place! I have to say the atomosphere was lovely and the place was very clean. The food was awesome, I loved the veggie tacos! The red sauce dip they gave me for the chips was ok but the second sauce a green avocado one was perfect! All in all We had a wonderful experience, will definitely return 😀
Being seated was fine. They took our drinks for half of the table and then left. We ordered two sets of chips, one with salsa and one with guacamole- and we only received one of our orders and it was approximately 10-15 minutes before our waiter returned to ask if we wanted more. The margaritas come in tall Mojito glasses instead of actual margarita glasses which was strange. We were given no napkins or silverware and our waters were not refilled within 10 minutes of finishing them. We haven’t even started our entrees yet and I’m not planning on returning. For being such a highly self-toted dining establishment their waiters seem to pick favorite tables and only serve them. My friends warned me about the service at this place and the waiter was nice and apologetic but good service shouldn’t have to apologize to the table three times within 20 minutes of being seated. When the busboy bussed the table next to me, I could see most of his boxers and rear end. It wasn’t the most pleasant dinner ambience I have experienced for sure. The salad I had was good. That’s really the best part. If you don’t mind sub-par service for the food, you could definitely enjoy a meal here. I think the waiter did his best to stop-gap the negative experience but first impressions are important.
Had dinner here twice so far.- I’ve had 2 of the burritos, one chicken and one steak, both delicious!- The salsas have uniques flavors, the chorizo dip was tasty, and the chips were perfect.- I’m picky with margaritas, but enjoyed both of the fruit ones I drank.Overall, a great experience and the restaurant has cozy vibes.
Was not a great experience. Took 30 minutes to be waited on. The server was apologetic and offered free chips and salsa, but the first batch we got had stray bits of hamburger in it. The tacos and drinks were way overpriced, and definitely nothing to tempt us back for a second visit. One and done!
