Greengos - Mexican restaurant in San Juan, Puerto Rico
Our main course was good! But what gets me is that the server Abby asked if we wanted chips and Queso and we of course said yes… Come to find out she charged us $13 dollars for something she asked if we wanted while we waited like??? I would understand if it was maybe $5 but $13???? And she did not care.
Food was very good. We had the nachos which were huge and the cantina bowl was so fresh and delicious. The staff is super nice and helpful.
Great service, food and drinks.
Tasted like the burrito I would expect to eat at Swarthmore College, but not quite as tasty.
As we arrived and the bar was closing, we convinced the bartender to accept us for a quick drink in our "bar hopping -birthday event". He was amazing and even if we were alone, the atmosphere was awesome! I cant imagine when there is actually people !
Worst Mexican food ever had in my life. The beef tasted like old and dry like beef jerky.
Great spot to have a drink and relax. Rene the bartender is really cool and doesnt have the attitude you might find at some of the other places. Prices are good considering one drink will put you in a good state of mind and two will have you stuck to your chair, not wanting to leave. Highly recommend.
Art work was amazing. Bartender, host, waiter informative. Drinks were great
Great spot w/ a big bar & lots of tablesAlso a bunch of TVs to watch games, we were here during the NBA playoffs. Cheap drinks & great food, bartender is super nice
Visiting from the States and my wife and I absolutely loved it. The wings, and the chorizo rice bowl were delicious 😋. We also had a bean side dish that was 🤤. 👌🏽
Most authentic Mexican Cantina in San Juan, huge selection of artisanal Mescals and Tequilas, AWESOME food. Highly recommend.
We just happened upon this little place walking through San Juan. So glad we did. We had nachos & a burrito bowl. The mahi mahi was cooked perfectly. Id recommend trying the Bandido if youre looking for something a bit spicy. Enjoy!
The food here is so bad. Dont ever order food from here. We ordered a chicken burrito and it was awful. We couldnt take more than a bite. They offered chips as a side it was as bad as the mains. Worst restaurant in old San Juan.
Mediocre Mexican food. Pretty good cocktails. Enjoyed their specialty tequila. Very overpriced for the quality. Nachos are your best bet
Not a bad spot, cool artwork, food is pretty basic and nothing worth the trip. Drinks are solid. Atmosphere and service are great
Great service and delicious Mexican dishesThere was too much cheese though
Drinks were good and server was nice, food was subpar. Enchiladas were cold and quite obviously microwaved, the rice was also Under cooked and crunchy. Wish I had read the reviews before coming.
We arrived here on Friday night at 830p. We were not greeted. The bartender happened to be the host and also the server for the whole restaurant. We sat at the bar just 2 of us. We order our drinks and food at the same time. Our order consisted of mango/peach daiquiri, coronarita, chicken nachos(originally wanted steak, they were out- asked for beef, they were out), & chicken enchiladas. We got our drinks in the matter of 15 mins from sitting down at the bar. Bruce who was the bar tender, as you can tell was overwhelmed being that they were understaffed and he was the only server/bartender/host. Anyways, we waited patiently for our food to come out, i noticed that it was 9:43p and still we hadn’t gotten our food and also had order 2 other drinks while time passed. At this point it was about to be 10:30 and still had not received our food. Guests who came in after us, with larger parties ranging from 3-7 people had gotten their food ahead of us. We asked our server how much longer he couldn’t give an eta. He checked with the kitchen only once and they told him we were the next ticket, but we were like how when people who came in after us are being served before us like how does that make sense. It was only nachos and a enchilada that we were waiting to be served since ordering around the timeframe of 850ish. This was the worst service we have ever received at any establishment. The restaurant wasn’t even full that’s the real eye opener. Honestly would rate 0 stars if we were able. Oh and on top of that when the bartenders friends walked in and saw how unhappy we were he proceeded to hold a conversation in Spanish right in front of us. Little did they know i could understand them. Just terrible we will never dine here again.
Amazing tacos, delicious spicy mango margs, and great service! Ashley is awesome!!!
If you are fan of fast mexican, definitely Greengos is your go to.Following covid protocol on the island, we were kinldy asked to show our Vax IDs.Once inside the restaurant, you can notice that it has a cantina feel to it, with great art on the walls, and the option to sit at the bar. The place was spotless. We were served by Ashley, who was really attentive and helpful while we were choosing from the menu, despite being an almost sixteen people group . Dishes did not take much time from the kitchen to our table. We all ordered different dishes off the menu. Ingredients seemed fresh. Personally I picked the nachos and a traditional margarita. First off the nachos portion is big enough to share between two people, they also offer to add the protein of your choice for an additional cost (I picked beef). The nachos in all their glory are an amalgamation of crunchy, great flavors. The traditional margarita was delicious as well. Definitely would recommend if you want mexican after a stroll in Old San Juan.
Tried to stop in when Greengos first opened at "11" and was told by the multiple staff members smoking out front that they were opening at 11:30. Not a great start.Hit a few other establishments before coming back later in the evening. This place has a lot of potential. The good:- nachos, with or without protein.- good service, but it was very slow.- really fun artworkNeeds improvement:- this place is very dirty even by Puerto Rico standards.
Great little Mexican joint in Old San Juan.Very quiet when I got there and good service, friendly etc. They were out of any flavours for margaritas and not a single CDC card check which is mandatory on the way in, hence I cant give this place 5 stars.
They are OPEN! Now, the air conditioning system is still broken and no credit card transactions can be processed but the drinks are cold, the food is delicious and Bruce the daytime bartender was just right. There was a steady stream of repeat customers as well as some walk-in patrons. The faire is Mexican and it holds up in this very Puerto Rican stretch of stores. COVID precautions practiced by staff and encouraged for patrons except when actively eating or drinking.
Bartender René was the best! Such a cool place, great decor, great music and drinks were full tort.I highly recommend staying there a while and spending some money.
Great vegetarian options and service. Must try us their SHARK FACE SALSA. Drinks are great too. Kids enjoyed their food too as it was very delicious. Must visit in Old San Juan for awesome Mexican choices. Quick service too.
The atmosphere is beautiful and our waitress was really sweet, it the food was awful. Lacked flavor and presentation alike! Save your money and choose one of the other Mexican options in Old San Juan!!
This is a fresh food Mexican restaurant in Puerto Rico. Fresh tacos, tostadas, nachos, and quesadillas. Servers were very welcoming and friendly with big smiles and great attitudes. Good drink prices(we hit it right at happy hourand they were accommodating for our party of 16. Also very kid friendly and the kids enjoyed themselves. Come check them out if you want a snack, you can always hit the food trucks or stands for a true taste of the island! 😉
Try the chicken burrito. Its dry but with the salsa poured on top, it’s delicious! Great atmosphere. Great tunes and cool atmosphere.
This is a tourist trap with the weakest ‘alcoholic’ beverages. Almost like they skipped the alcohol. The food was also very bland, and chips and salsa are not complimentary.. I would recommend if you’re hungry and maybe looking for something safe, but even then I would look elsewhere. The water is also carbonated and they don’t mention. It’s only saving grace is the photo opportunities from the paintings on the walls.
This spot was right next to the hotel my wife and i stayed in. I admit i was a little hesitant for the first 3 days to try it but we eventually did since i promised the hostess i would. The Mrs. & I glad we did. The food was amazing, the staff was great and the decor was definitely cool. Will definitely return.🤤👍🏽
Very impressed to have walked in with 20 people, no reservation and they accommodated us right away. Staff was attentive, food was good, and we were able to stay through many conversations and movement between tables.
Stopped by during one of our cruises and had a wonderful time. Good drinks and good food. Staff was very nice, we liked the atmosphere and would definitely come back
Really good food!!! Food was tasty and service was great. I would have given it all 5 stars, but the TVs got too loud.Otherwise, great experience and nice place.
Stopped in here for a drink and a snack. Food was ok and the drinks were decent. We had really good service from the bar tender up until the last 15 minutes. Another, very attract, single female sat down at the bar and our service vanished. We sat with empty drinks for about 10 mins and then decided to leave. I had to interrupt his conversation to get my bill and again to get him to take the money. Too bad or it would have been a 5 star.
Great spot in OSJ/VSJ. Better service than average for the island. Everyone loves the margaritas and if you go during happy hours they always have good deals, like half off. I like the food, esp the quesadilla and bowls. Bilingual staff. They have a local made tequila if you ask for it. There is enough room for a large group of you go during nonpeak hours. Not a bad place for sports in OSJ either. Fairly kid friendly as well. Of course the art work is impressive and fun. Enjoy!
This place has delicious food, the prices are very reasonable, and a 4-page tequila menu. We ordered the beef chimichangas.
Great service! The margaritas were really tasty. I had a shot of infused tequila (cucumberand it was delicious. Definitely something to try.
Our server was amazing, friendly, and very laid back. The Mexican food was really great the size of the nachos was enormous. We were there for a groomsmen lunch before the wedding the next day and were not rushed we stayed at an open table for 2.5 hours with no issues and constant service. Highly recommend.
Very good food, and a nice cool atmosphere to get away from the crowd and have a beer. We have been twice for lunch and is never crowded which I love. Definitely worth checking out!
Great food! Completely accommodating to my onion allergy! Service was friendly and quick! Got the bean burrito with steak. We got chips and salsa and I had a pina colada while my husband had a traditional margarita and followed it up with a lime mojito. Nice atmosphere and I love the decor! Must visit if on the island!
Nice bar with a great Mexican feel, great artwork and good drinks. Was a perfect place for a sit down and drink to recover after all the walking around of the fabulous old town area.We did not eat here but food looked good.
The place itself has amazing Art. The margaritas were not that good but I don’t like pure alcohol tasting margaritas. The fish tacos were not that tasty either. No flavor in my opinion but healthy. Probably wouldn’t go back but the staff is super friendly.
Great service, music and Mexican food. Nice ambiance and off the main drag a bit. Highly recommended for a solid meal.
We stopped in for a quick drink at this fun little place. Didnt check out food as we had just ate so my review is on service and drinks only. The bartender (and only staff member workingwas very pleasant and helpful. We ordered two shots and I had a margarita.4 stars because the margarita was that great....Id check it out again next time we are in Old San Juan. It seems like a fun cute place to hang out.
Great Tex-Mex food, great atmosphere, great service! The happy hour margaritas are $5 and you can sub a house-infused tequila. I got the traditional margarita with red chili tequila - so good and spicy!
Food service is quick, yet flavorful. Nice for a quick bite with drinks, as well as a satisfying dinner
We couldnt have stumbled upon a more perfect place after a long day exploring Old San Juan. Excellent food, excellent drinks, excellent service. Family friendly. I particularly enjoyed the sugar skull wall art.
The rum drink selection is wonderful. The "Donkey Punch" is really good. It is strong so dont have too many if you are driving. The food is also very good. I have been here on two different trips and I must say I have not been disappointed disappointed. This was the the burrito, including the fried one, and the fajitas are amazing. The fajitas have pineapple in them and go very well with the donkey punch. The decor is very cool.
Awesome spot to drink for fairly cheap. The cocktails are delicious and STRONG. They come in Mason jars with salt on the lids. A nice touch. I recommend the spicy cocktail it youre up to it!
Love the decor 💀 $2.50 Coronas at happy hour. Bartender was super fun. Great atmosphere. College football playing on several TVs. Many, MANY tequilas!
