GreenLands Hotel - Vegetarian restaurant in Moratuwa, Sri Lanka
Its one of the oldest restaurants for thosi idali wadi and many more own by jafnna people. The food is tasty and reasonably price
Restaurant is no more and I have not tried it out recently. But they have gingerly oil from India and it is very good quality... Price also reasonable (850 LKR)
An old restaurant located in Colombo. Provides a good meal at a good cost for anyone looking for a Northern Sri Lanka cuisine. The staff are timely as well.
An old restaurant in Colombo. Nice Indian vegetarian food. Good service. Good portions for affordable prices. Their poori and milk tea combo is the best.
Very nice vegetarian food. One of the best places I have ever been.
Not recommended. Standard has gone down very badly. Food is unpalatable and very expensive
Used to be a very famous vegetable restaurant and hotel. Even now not revonated the old rooms without tiles are still there. Food is pretty ok but they dont have all the items listed in the menu. Very slow service. But its a decent place to have a quick bite.
Been a customer for long and this is the only decent vegetarian restaurant back then. Excellent mouth watering dishes and sweets and a huge book stall is at the from of the hotel. Accommodation is upstairs and though never tried heard its great as well.
This place should be declared as Historic Monument. Greenlands has never changed since I first visited last Century. Its unique. Great value for money and a marvelous trip into past years.
Looks can be deceiving.Yes. From outside the restaurant looks little neglected. But the taste of the food still great as usual. Ordered a normal dosa. Although little more expensive than the nearby competition, dosa is much bigger and definitely tastier. Also you get several types of chutneys and sambar. The waiting staff, Mr. Algarajah is extremely helpful. One more important thing. Their dining hall is air-conditioned which is a real luxury in a hot and humid day.
This is a very good vegetarian restaurant . Delicious Dosa. The customer care is goodOld gentlemen are working with clean dressBut the dining are to be maintained well. It look very much depletedAC machines are not workingFans with lot of dust around the bladesIf not improved the maintenance, this restaurant may die soon
Nice food.but limited food only..would like to HV more variety
Old rustic.. almost run down.. but good was delicious as it has been for the past 65 years
The food is good but clenliness is far below the required standards. Food hygine at its lowest. I cannot coment on the kitchen as it is out of bounds to guest. As per reliable sources the "PHIs" have never sited this place in decades.
It is decent vegetarian restaurant. Dosa iddly type of food for breakfast, string hoppers among indian dishes aviiable for dinner and rice and curry is also for lunch. Meeting rooms are aviiable.
Just called to ask whether they can cater for 28 pax and the person answered was very rude and banged the phone. I hope the food is same as their customer service.
Clean place and good South Indian food
Food was very tasty. The paper Dosai and Ulundu vadai was very crisp. The staff were very attentive. The ceiling fans were not clean and full of black dust. The wash basins were not clean. Most of the bulbs were not working. Very dimly lit. The place has lost its charm. The management needs to clean up the place.
Utterly hopeless place. I have been eating from this place for the last 30 years. Today they served me onion dosai with polsambol ????. Dosai half cooked. Now they dont know what they do. Sad......such a lovely place 30 years ago.
This place should be closed, I called in for Poori then I visited the place after 10mins. The person who answered the phone asked me to come. After I placed the order I was told that they are out of the mix for Poori. The place is old, no one cares about maintaining this place anymore
Last decade its number one hotel in Colombo. Now a days its worst. Food quality bad and the takes long time to supply foods. No friendly suppliers
Food is ok vegetarian only and customer service is very poor... You have to wait around 1hr for the food
Very bad service, one of the worst vegetarian food we have ever had, dosas were very salty, vadai was stone cold, total run down, very poor options, very bad atitude.as well.
Good place to have tasty vegetarian food. Traditional restaurant. Parking only on road side.
No frill Dosas and tea. Dont let the exterior put you off, the foods definitely tasty
Ordered poori and it was the most horrible iv ever had. my palate still hurts after the scratches it made.. place is like a horror house..with all e modern food places Im surprised they dont have the need to up their game...very dissapointed as wev been going to that place since 30 odd yrs and it still seems the same..
Been coming here on and off for over 20 years. The place is an institution - my father used to come here in the late 50s. Not a lot has changed since the 50s, but the place has its own charm and serves good honest food (Thali, dosa, vada, idli etcfor decent prices. Its a no frills place, but still a favourite for me!
Nice vegetarian food, cheap prices and fast service from a small counter. Food served on silver trays with small different accompaniments. There was a family and individuals eating when we were there.
Had lunch today here. Worst curries and tasteless food. Not worth for 215 rupees at all.We (3were the only customers for lunch today and it is not surprise that why nobody else.Never again
Foods are very testy here and Indian foods are available with favorable prices.
Dosai was great. Wasabi was cold and lacking salt. They dont take card ; Only cash.
Very good food and decent prices. Service is a but slow though and the toilets a bit rudimentary.
Very old place and foods are very tasty. I love to have Indian food at there
Gud stuffWaiters are old and have been there for agesFood is nice specially the lunchNice pictures in the wallsNeed renovation urgently
Not what I expected. Had to call out for a server. Food was not great. Need to improve a lot to get to former glory.
Someone who can revamp this place to its previous fame should manage this place. Its a crime to waste such a good location, space and its previous reputation. Staff is very lethargic probably because they are as old as this restaurant.
This is an old and a traditional vegetarian restaurant that has changed little over the last decade or so. The food is simple and clean. The service is nothing modern about it. Parking is on the lane. Its not a place where you get pampered but a place that gives you value for money and make you really happy about the meal you had.Try their rice ( thaliif you go for lunch.
Super food, but the place needs some form of renovation. Also, the staff (being quite elderlyseem unfriendly and tired of their job. Other than these two factors, the food is simply great!
Good food, reasonable price , very calm environment, friendly but slow service. A neat pub but a rare combination for a Sri Lankan vegetarian restaurant is also available with in the premises.
Situated in a calm place and offer decent vegetarian meals at affordable price. The restaurant itself has a peaceful environment.
This is a great place for a quick bite if you are in the mood for South Indian food. It is not an upscale place, but give you the similar experience you would get in an ordinary Indian restaurant. The service is good and the food tastes good too. The prices too are very reasonable.
Dont ever go this place. Food is not tasty.A decade ago this place was a nice to have a meal. Now it is one of the worse.
Tasty South India food. They only offer Idli dosa vada chapathi and paratha. Tasty food. Loved the ghee roast and masala dosa
Good authentic South Indian food. Building could use some refurbishment since its been kept the same way for generations! I love their paper dosa!
Best and original south Indian food.... no compromise on quality or quantity.... super awesome... the same taste and quality from the day I remember which is over 25 years now...
Charmingly run-down and clean canteen, dosa and accompanying sauces are great. As others mentioned, paper dosa is your best choice, the masala dosa filling was fine, but I preferred just dosa and sauce (unusually). It was a bit oily, which didnt detract from the taste, but I might ask them to tone it down, too, in the future. At 6pm on a Sunday most dishes apart from the dosa werent available, so thats what youd be going here for.Cheap also, at 700rs stuffed between the two of us. Definitely recommended.
The food variety is quite limited. clean food though it looks doggy. in the past this place was known for authentic indian food.
Calm old place.. food is good. They have special ghee thosay.. its a vegetarian restaurant. One of my favourite places..
Have been going here since childhood. Love the paper dosai, all veg.good place
Cheap and clean accomadation for less than $25 a day in colombo. With Air Con and vegetarian food. You cant go wrong.
