Grebe's Nest - Tourist attraction in St. John's, Canada
Not too bad of a hike down to it but I wouldnt go in because if you look closely the support beam is cracked. Too dangerous and risky. Beware ☠
beautiful! sunset here is incredible , the hole in the rock down there is actually a fishers hut if you wanna see the mines go to the right of the nest when the tide is low but stay safe
Beautiful island and beautiful mine. That leads to a secret beach. Make sure you have a little torch and you can see inside clearly. Dont try to take other routes than the main road its dangerous. Great place for a short visit on the Bell island
The place is beautiful and cool but very very dangerous!! There is an optical illusion that makes the path down to the beach seem like a cliff. There arent any signs directing people on how to get there. We ended up climbing down a cliff with wet slippery rocks and could of hurt ourselfs very badly. THE PATH IS NEAR THE PARKING LOT there is a kinda dirt parking lot you want to walk towards what looks like a cliff near the cars and there is a simple dirt path to the right that allows you to walk down easy. Dont try to climb down the cliff with all the wet water and stuffThe reason for 2 missing stars ⭐ is because of the danger and lack of signs directing youThe tunnel is nice to go through and its a beautiful spot it would be 5 stars ⭐ if it wasnt for the optical illusion and confusion on how to get down there
Wonderful view of the strata and fun tunnel!
Very interesting place, gorgeous views, little tunnel to go through. There was definitely a ghost in this tunnel. My husband went in by himself , I stayed back and watched, saw a figure in a red shirt look out the opening, then dart back in, hubby came running out, said he got the chills, I asked if he saw the person in the red shirt, he said he was alone..... very cool 😎
Magical! Just magical!
Didnt find it. Not posting, directions, signage, nothing! Not worth going to Bell Island
Very cool place with an awesome secret beach (just go through the small tunnel).
Came across the tunnel by accident and what a pleasant surprise!
Beautiful coves with a tunnel to get to the next Cove. Access was under construction when we were there.
One of the highlights of our hiking trip on Bell Island!
Absolutely breathtaking! The drive all the way to the bottom is not great but totally worth it. Absolutely beautiful!!!
Beautiful 10/10 recommend just be careful when coming out of the tunnel on to the beach there may be a bit of a drop off
Its a beautiful picture place of the nature. There are beautiful cliffs and sea view. You can even see the mainland of NL in a good weather condition. This area is rocky and they are in process of weathering. Therefore, this place is bit dangerous for a solo travelers or visitors. However, if you go here with your friends and love ones, it would be one of the most rapt place you will ever visit. There are a tunnel which goes through one of the huge cliff. The height of the tunnel is not that high, so only human size or smaller organisms can go through. Depends on the season, the water from moss on the cliff wall, will drop on the entry of the tunnel. This may make the entry more slippery and dangerous. However, it will also make the emotional feelings to take a lifetime hold photographs. After you went through the tunnel, you will discover the place the is only surrounded by cliffs and the sea. Its a romantic place to take your pictures, and if the weather is nice, you can even put your foot in the sea water without your shoes or socks are on. Additionally, this is the nice place for take a social network pictures.
Breath taking views and just a short hike to get to the beautiful rocky beaches. There has been some considerable erosion and falling rocks from the surrounding cliffs over the last few years. It would be good to be mindful of this if visiting. Stay away from cliff edges and stick to the paths most traveled. Tunnel between two beaches is dark but just a short distance. Water running from cliffs makes the rocks at the entrances of the tunnel a little slippery so watch your footing.
Dandy spot for a hike around but be very careful, can also be a very dangerous spot.
Very nice view.
Definitely worth checking out.
This was my favourite place to visit in Newfoundland. So beautiful and the "secret" beach makes it that much more special.
Beautiful but please be careful of falling rocks.
Img amazing. A little difficult getting g there, but worth the effort
One of my favorite spots on Bell Island. The secret beach is nice and quiet for a swim and the arch arcade should be visited at low tide as its dangerous inside.
A lot of Capelin rolled in but there wasnt a soul to gather any
Beautiful spot, watch your step tho.
Great scenery and cliffs.
Great place, beautiful and safe. Thank you to the Bell Islander that recommended it.
All the views out on the island are stunning Id love to live there some day and people there are very friendly.
Fun to get to, we went with our truck and it really is just an ATV trail, but really cool spot and beautiful.
Such a beautiful place❤️ make sure to watch sunset here! Its perfect 💖
Yes, it’s a passageway between two coves. What makes it special is that it was constructed (dynamited outby hand by former miners to connect to a more welcoming beach. The descent is for the adventurous. It’s a rustic and untouched site ; let’s keep it that way.The views of the rocky cliffs from below is both impressive and humbling.
Lovely spot fun bit of history
Unbeatable views!
Really unique spot to check out once.
Fantastic and plentiful Ordovician trace fossils and a beautiful east coast ocean view.
i visit Bell island just for these beaitiful Sea Stacks, Caves, Sunsets, and mines in the cliffs leading to hidden beaches, all at Grebes Nest!
Best place on the island. I would like to see some stairs or something so that the entrance to the cave is safer for people as the rocks get VERY slippery. The private beach is more than worth the climb down the cliff!
Take a dirt road to get there. Beautiful coastal geomorphology. So many sea caves and arches to explore. Brought friends from away to Grebes Nest around sunset and it felt like we were in Game of Thrones with the way the rock was lit. Couldnt beat the sun to also take a look in the famous mine tunnel though! For next time.
I got haunted by a ghost here. Do not look at white, tiny, ghostly hands on the pavement. And do not say anything about ghosts.
Fabulous ... well worth seeing. Two abandoned fishing coves that are connected by a man made tunnel (~ 180 ft. longonce used to help with the load/unloading of fish and supplies. Well maintained but no lighting; bring a flashlight. Steep cliffs in the surrounding area. Take extra care when walking the sloped dirt and gravel entrance path. Not recommended for persons with mobility issues.
Beautiful spot to visit when the weather is nice! There is a cute little tunnel you can walk through in the cliff and it goes to a "hidden" beach. If you have not gone, you need to go!
Fun to go through the tunnel near the Grebes Best.
One thing you dont expect in a rock wall... a tunnel. Beautiful.
Not an easy hike down to the shoreline as very rocky and slippery but well worth It! The view is Amazing!!
Such a great place. A must see
Dress warm!!! The winds on this day were about 100km and felt like RAZOR BLADES!!! AWESOME EXPERIENCE!!!!
Awesome scenery. It can be a little bit of a challenge to get to, wear good boots to keep your feet dry.
Incredibly breathtaking location... Large cliff surrounded rocky beach accessible only through a tunnel.
Beautiful cove and beach with towering cliffs all around.
Tall cliffs with an ocean view. Tunnel was very cool!
