This part of great wall is located further north Beijing. It is a long drive to get there but it totally worth it. You need to ride gondola to get to the wall which makes it interesting. The view in this section of the wall is outstandingly beautiful especially in October when treed are getting yellow. This part of the wall has steep up/downs. It is one of the least crowded and most beautiful parts of the wall. Strongly recommended.

Checked off the list back in 2015 - what a gem of a place. Felt lucky after visiting this wonder of the world. It wasnt crowded early morning in spring season. We took the chair lift to go up the top instead of going by walk because there are too many steps. If you are going in peak season then get ready for the crowd and hot weather.

In a land of modern cities and towering skyscrapers, the Great Wall of China, built between the 14th and 17th centuries, is a stark contrast but a striking image that all visitors to China should seeA stroll along the top of the wall provides an incredible view of the structure snaking off into the distance. The wall stretches an astounding 21,196 kilometers, through some remote areas. Many travelers seeing the sights of China choose to visit the wall on easily organized tours from Beijing, a relatively short motorcoach ride away.

Food is good. Prices are higher. Service is much improved now that I mentioned the treatment to the public will determine my continued support. She was taking our business for granted, as if we’re fortunate to have The New Great Wall.

Great Man Made Wonder:Youve probably heard of the Great Wall of China. Do you know its total length? 21 thousand 196 kilometers! At the top of this wall, which is 7 meters high, the paved path is 5.5 meters wide. This great wall was first built in BC. Construction began in 215 AD by the Chinese emperor qin shi huang. He started building this wall to prevent Mongol invasion. Since then, the wall has been built and repaired several times. The existing wall, built in B.C. It was built by the Ming emperors who ruled China from 1368 to 1644.The largest man-made structure in the world is the Great Wall of China.

The Great wall is a must do when in China, but there are many sections you can do. We did the Jinshanling - Gubeikou section of the great wall, which is most popular among hikers & photographers. We arranged a private taxi to get to the start & walked it on our own (not part of a group tour). Its a full day hike that starts on unrepaired sections of the wall nearly lost to time but covers some of the most spectacular landscape views of the wall that you see in the tourist / marketing shots. It is stunning, but not all easy - one section that passes a military base, is closed so you should leave the wall for this section and make your own way through the landscape. However, towards Jinshanling the wall has been repaired to former glory with some sections adorned with tourist information within towers, drums present and even maps. If you want a more authentic experience (than the section most tourists go tothen head here, the views you will be rewarded with are simply stunning.

It is a great sight capable of encompassing great historical moments throughout the years, plus there were lives that were lost at the time of its construction, It has a great background that is worth investigating if you are curious about its history.

The greatest place to take a view of the Great Wall. You can take the cable car to the top, that might be a easier choice to tour. Because of its admirable landscape and structure, it has always be the most crowded Great Wall of all time. Ready for the crowd.

Enjoyed this gem, highly recommend. I went here my first time I suggest to wear light breathable clothing, bring water, and tissue/ wipes for bathroom. The steps are very steep. It can be exhausting walking up allow time and take your time. I was pretty sore and I walked halfway.

A long wait to purchase tickets, even if part of a group booking.Well worth as part of your China 🇨🇳 exploration. We ordered Subway for lunch and took along to eat whilst on the wall.Wear comfortable clothing and footwear, bring water to keep hydrated. You can also purchase refreshments on the wall too though.Very beautiful views and photo opportunities. We rode down on the toboggan, a lot of fun.

The Great Wall of China is a series of fortifications that were built across the historical northern borders of ancient Chinese states and Imperial China as protection against various nomadic groups from the Eurasian Steppe. Several walls were built from as early as the 7th century BC,with selective stretches later joined together by Qin Shi Huang (220–206 BC), the first emperor of China. Little of the Qin wall remains.Later on, many successive dynasties built and maintained multiple stretches of border walls. The best-known sections of the wall were built by the Ming dynasty (1368–1644).

For sure a must visit place in China, been there in 2018 and 2019 before pandemic. There are many great wall tour agents but I highly recommend a local friend, its not that agencies ate bad but being with a local is way more convenient and cheap.Almost an hour half drive from city center on public busses, that will cost you between 50-70 RMB per person, then tickets varies if you choose chairlift to go on top or climb your way up through steep stairs.Ticket price starts from 200RMB, if you are visiting Beijing, dedicate a full day to this if you really wanna enjoy the real experience. Beijing is full of UNESCO Heritage Sites but this one is without a competition is on the top of list. Attached pictures are from same years before pandemic.

My wife and I just returned from a trip to China. We of course did the Great Wall and took the advice to hike from Jinshaling to Simitai. I have to say that it was the coolest experience that we have done. I would recommend this hike for those who are in pretty good shape as there are some steep climbs. The weather in Oct was hot and sunny. This is a great part of the wall since there are very few tourists. We were the only people on some stretches of the wall. We encountered some people who wanted to sell us drinks, and some would just follow us so they could get paid to give us drinks, sell some stuff, and kind of be a guide. They did not take "no" for an answer, until I said, "no money". Then they stopped following us. Not that we didnt want to buy drinks, we just wanted to experience the hike without them following us. Bring some water, and some extra cash as you have to pay to get into Simitai, and to cross the bridge. I would highly recommend this hike to experience the Great Wall.

The Great Wall is one of the seven wonders of the world. It runs in sections over a very long distance across China. The wall is also referred to as ‘Long Wall’ as it is over 21,196 km/13,171 miles long. It was built with stones, bricks and tiles, earth as well as of wooden material. The wall was completed in 1644, but it took more than 2,000 years to build. There are more than 20,000 watchtowers along the wall as it was built to protect the country against invasions from nomads and enemies and to make it easier to collect duty for goods that were transported along the Silk Road.Today the wall is the most popular tourist attraction in China with more than 10 million visitors per year. Contrary to popular belief the Great Wall cannot be seen from the moon!

Today, this section of wall is open to visitors. A nice place with Beauty. There are three methods of ascent and four methods of descent to choose from. Besides utilizing 4000+ steps, visitors may also choose between a two-rider chairlift or four-rider gondola lift up from the foothills to the level of the wall, which runs along the ridges above. It is a very nice place These lifts may also be used to descend. Another feature of the wall at Mutianyu is an alternate method of descent by single-rider personal wheeled toboggan. This allows single riders to descend from the wall to the valley on a winding metal track.

As Chinas most famous attraction, the Great Wall of China is an essential stop on all China tours. Commonly considered a wonder of the world, the Great Wall boasts a history of over 2,000 years and stretches more than 3,000 miles across several provinces of northern China, making it one of the most impressive ancient structures on the planet.

The emptiest part of the Great Wall which you must see in Beijing. The upper part looks almost vertical and awesome. At that time when i visited, the collapsed section was not strictly fenced yet. Avoid going further, as someone fell to death there a while ago.

In terms of landscape, it is one of the most beautiful places Ive ever seen, recommended to go there with a tourist guide or in a day trip tour because thats the only way you can do the hiking from the higher point of the Great Wall, otherwise you start from the main entrance, crowded, full of tourists and the view is not that great

In terms of landmarks, this is probably the number one attraction that one would think of when visiting Beijing. The structure is truly magnificent and there are multiple sections that you can visit. My suggestion is to take the lift up, and take the bobsled down.

If in Beijing MUST MUST MUST visit the visit the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of ChinaIt’s astounding to stand on this wall and look out at the vast distance that it covers, realizing that what you can see is only a tiny portion. To think that it was built with only manpower in almost unbelievable.Everything from the elaborate entrance, the lift ride up to the top and the slide down was amazing, and that wasn’t even the pinnacle of the site. Sitting in the lift and looking around at the scenery really magnified the feat that it was to build the wall.Walking up the stairway and out onto the walkway of the wall is unforgettable and something pictures don’t do justice.

Had a great experience! We stayed in Chaoyang district. We used subway to reach half of the distance and used a taxi for the rest. It took around 100 yuans for the taxi. No one speaks English there so it was very hard to talk to people. You better get a translator app if you are traveling without a chauffeur or a guide.

Sitting in the lift and looking around at the scenery really magnified the feat that it was to build the wall.Walking up the stairway and out onto the walkway of the wall is unforgettable and something pictures don’t do justice. There is a little shop at the top where we stopped and had a beer to toast our trip, with breathtaking 360° views. I visited in 2012, The Great Wall really does deserve to be one of the seven wonders. We took a tour there while in Beijing and we were the first to arrive so there were no tourists and we were able to climb it by ourselves. It was an awesome experience and it was very tough. The steps are really uneven so it makes for a hard climb. I felt like I was getting a good workout. I wanted to quit but my wife motivated me to keep on climbing. Anyways, the view itself is simply amazing, all the rolling green hills and the wall stretching out over them. It is a magical experience and it should be one of the number one things to do in Beijing.

Must have seen place if you are in Beijing! Bring enough time.. and water. 😉 Be there as early as possible in the morning and the wall is yours. Do not underestimate the steps to climb. By chance I will certainly hike the next time to get more impressions of the nature and to see more parts of the old Great Wall. If you go there in the summer beware of the sun.

Luckily, I got a chance to visit #The_Great_Wall_of_China in winter time ❄️❄️ (Oct-2016). It was also the first time in my life to see real snow and travel alone in one of the biggest cities in the world. The first time, I have been standing on the top of the greatest sights in the world — the longest wall in the world, an awe-inspiring feat of ancient defensive architecture. Its winding path over rugged country and steep mountains takes in some great scenery.Everything became an awesome and unforgettable memories. I had tried my best and motivated myself by singing on the way to conquer all the slippery stairs to see the super huge view on it.P/s: To a Vietnamses girl, traveling alone was not to hard, not to easy. I think if you’re ready, just make a well prepared plan, practice exercise everyday and then go ahead.

A historic place to visit where u get the combination of nature and the fort amazingbule sky. If u r foreigner, u must need a guide to visit the place becz of language barrier and communication factor. Better to take a package to go there as it is convenient and easy way of going there. Cable car will take u the great wall. U have to walk around as far as u can affort to walk. Take water or natural juice and chocklet or dates to boost up ur energy. A thrilling experience when u r going to see the down from the pick. Amazing view with green nature with blue sky will relief ur eyes from the metropolitan chaotic view. U will get renewed enegry to get back ur monotonous city life with different views i guess.

Great wall of China is a one of the seven wonders of the world. It is so far from Beijing town. Great wall is really a protection wall of heavy thickness. It was made at the ancient period but till now it looks like new. It is amazing, how it could be make by big hard rock and how the heavy rock placed from ground to top of the mountain. It was made for as a protection wall from foreign Grover. We know that China people are very clever, brilliant and hard working. Great wall is carried out the characteristics of China people. It is a nice place for traveling and very attractive and charming for students. At the year of 2018 I got an opportunity to visit the China mainly Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao, Shenzhen, Guangzhou etc. We had visited many places but the best memorable place is Great-wall.

This is a section of the Great Wall much less crowded than others. It’s a couple of hours of car far from Beijing. You can reach by bus or in much simple way by private car with driver. Bring with you food and water, the prices of the shops are definetly high! Anyway it’s a such magical place. You can enjoy a beautiful panorama from up there. Worth it at all... it’s a MUST SEE PLACE!!!

The touristy part of it is fully restored so it is beautiful and you can enjoy the walk, the scenery, and the crowd. Further will get you to less restored parts (work in progressand it is easy to end up being alone in some sections. Some parts can be dangerous though, with some bouldering involved, so I wouldnt recommend going alone. Some parts of the year are very hot and I almost got dehydrated in 5H on that wall (also expect to progress slowly in remote sections)

Perfect site for visiting the Great Wall. Plenty of room to hike around, spectacular views, and a chance to hike to some unrestored sections. Crowds were low on the day we went (it was lightly raining). Restrooms along the hike, with some snack shops as well.
