Great Wall Restaurant - Chinese restaurant in La Crosse, United States
Maybe because I was hungry or may be not, but the food was so tasty, especially the Mongolian beef and the dumplings.
Best egg rolls, fast delivery, food was fresh and hot! Delicious!!
They are always very accommodating and reasonable. We normally get orange shrimp and dumpling soup. I enjoy several other items on their menu also. Delivery is always quick and reliable.
Came in about 530pm. Food was i think still from lunchtime. Cold, dried out and some were hard as rocks. New food not put out until after 6pm. Wont be visiting them again. 28.00 for two people on a Friday night, will take my business elsewhere. Very disappointing they used to be one of the best places to go. I do NOT recommend.
Clearly whomever had a 5 star experience here has no tastebuds or had some real luck. My father found what looked like metal shavings in his meal and when he asked the owner he replied with “yes, we are getting our kitchen ceiling redone, you’re not the first one to tell us about finding that.” Unbelievable!
Nastiest place in town foods gross 80% vegetables and 20% food no lie and there prices constantly go up while customer service and product goes down and they have no respect for minority opinions especially them being minorities themselves,I actually had a Caucasian friend call in order just to see the difference in treatment and to our astonishment we were totally treated opposite when we made a complaint about it they pushed it off as a "black people complain about everything moment" knowing at one point i was a regular customer at one point like 4 times a week type customer and as soon as i complained knowing i never complained they no longer want my money in which ill be following up on soon to be continued signed a normal human being and yes it will be screen shotted before they take this down sunday august 28th 2022
Working across from Great Wall, I tend to get it as take-out pretty often. The food is always amazing and the employees are so kind! One of the best Chinese places I’ve been to (and I get it pretty often).
I don’t know who the new chef is but never lose them. We ordered because we were desperate for some Chinese food. We’d stopped ordering from Great Wall because the food had been mediocre. Holy tomoly, we were so pleasantly surprised to taste really good food. Dumplings were perfect and our entrees were fresh and spicy.
Best Chinese food in La Crosse! Fresh and delicious! We get take out or delivery.
Didnt get my noodles. Just 8 soggy shrimp and 4 pieces of broccoli. Like duh. Lady said they couldnt redeliver and gave me a $3 credit. Now I gotta go find something else for dinner. Will not be reordering. They should have redelivered. Total BS. Own up to your mistakes.
Foods always hot and good. Never had any issues. Ordered quite a few times but unfortunately forgot to do reviews...so wanted to this time.
I ordered from here for the first time recently. I had tried the other Asian restaurants in town and while all were very good Great Wall proved to be a cut above the rest for me. I have only sampled a small portion of their menu but from the three items I ordered all tasted great and they provide a very generous portion for each item. Even ordering late at night for delivery I received my food quickly and the food tasted just as good as if it was ordered in the mid day so the cooks certainly put in their full effort from open to close.Certainly will be my go to for Chines food in La Crosse!
Orange chicken sucked compared to other great walls ive been to other Chinese restaurants and white rice was really dry
We love everything we order from this restaurant. The order is always accurate and ready when promised for pickup. Their crab rangoons are AMAZING and we love the pork dumplings for appetizers, as well. You cant go wrong with anything here, but some of our favorites are their Mongolian Beef and General Tsos Chicken. They know how to make it delicious!
Food is very good and staff is very friendly. There is no dine-in option, but that doesn’t bother me.
Ordered several items...stand outs in a good way were the Mongolian beef, crab Rangoon, chicken chow mei fun, and beef and broccoli. Was not a fan of their curry flavor for the Singapore mei fun or the curry chicken. The egg drop soup was meh and the teriyaki chicken on a stick was meh album tasted more like sweet and sour.Over all good but not my favorite here i LA Crosse.Very sweet people running the establishment though and great customer service.
We got take out. The broccoli was black. We called and told them and they said “we don’t have any other broccoli to use right now” didn’t apologize or say they would throw it away. Will NEVER eat there again
Ordered food for delivery. Was told about an hour, sooner if we can. After an hour called again and was told it should be leaving soon. Hour and a half for our order to arrive. If its going to take that long maybe call the customer and let them know!!
I started ordering from Great Wall when my go to Chinese delivery was closed. I am glad this opportunity got me to try Great Wall. They are quick with answering the phone and the delivery time is faster. I ordered General Tso chicken, egg roll and spare ribs. I would highly recommend this and it will be difficult to decide next time I order because every thing I have tried was wonderfuly prepared. The portions are very generous, and the leftovers are also awesome.
This place is a rip off. In order to make anything spicy, they charge extra money. With paying extra, it wasnt spicy at all. Over $2.00 for a single eggroll that was very stale and had been sitting under the lamp. Eat Street doesnt take any responsibility for bad orders. Never order from this place.
I order multiple times from there, unfortunately this is my last t,order the same thing every time (Mongolian Beef not sweet)when I got my plate and tried it was sweet, I told the woman that Is not what I ordered and she said I’ll give you the money back. She didn’t even offer me to make another plate the way I wanted, very disappointed, lost loyal customer for life.
I love their food it is the best in town and Ive tried everywhere! Their portions are large and they always have great coupon deals. For instance one coupon the have is if you spend a certain amount you can get a free chicken meal theres a few to choose from one is general taos which one of my kids loves so i order online and always put everyone elses food in the cart first then the coupon pops up and i then select that as my free item and i get 1 family members meal for free. You cant beat free especially when the food is amazing! I definently recommend Great Wall to anyone wanting good food!
Customers always right!!! Well not to these people Ive been ordering from Great Wall for the last 12 years, never had a problem until one time when I called because the chicken wasnt done in one of my dinners and made me have a stomach ache and on top of that had no sauce on the rice no flavor. I called to tell them this and the women argued with me saying that cant be and I was in the wrong for calling them and if Im not happy they would ban me from ordering there. Very poor customer service!!!!!!! I didnt even get mad with them and she was chewing me out for calling. Not happy wont be ordering there for awhile when they should all know how to have respect for their customer.
affordable food that lasts me for three days a time!i would go the great wall with my friends in high school a few years back and i converted them to many years of happy business there.i hope to see more positive reviews for a place i hold so dearly
I carried out, got the shrimp mei fun and teriyaki chicken. The chicken was tough and despite the color the flavor wasn’t good. It was okay, but I’m in town for one week and I will be trying other things and won’t be ordering again.
I eat Chinese ALL the time. And I travel A LOT. All I can say is GROSS. The wonton soup was half broth half water. I LOVE wonton soup and didnt eat the 2nd of three wontons. I ordered Garlic Chicken. It was a mix of peppers and veggies with chicken and what looked like thick chicken gravy. It was not good at all. I now have a nasty taste in my mouth, am $20 down the drain and still hungry.
If you want good food skip this place and go to China star. Every. Single. Time. I have ordered from great wall the food is wrong/missing AND cold. One time I went in the restaurant (todayit was nasty. Uncleaned and I found hair in my food. Stay farrrrrrrr away from this place.
Felt they took advantage of my situation when I was trucking with my bf & we were parked for the night... We ordered delivery and they did not give a total over the phone and "brought no change" to the delivery. Im sure hes pleased with his tip! Weasel.
If you are looking for food poisoning look no further! At least 2 day old nasty gross food. They will not replace the nasty meal or refund your money. Highly recommended staying away!!
Rude!!! Driver literally started swearing at my home husband over a penny. Didnt give us the chance to giv him the other money we had put aside for a tip. Called the store and the "manager" started with what do you want?!? you have the guts to call and complain after you didnt give a tip. Also the orange chicken had hair in it
Quality has gone down over the last few months. Ordered pork chow mein and I got onion and cabbage soup essentially with flecks of pork.Tried to call to speak to them about quality and they just yelled at me that this is supposed to be.I have had chow mein from at least 25+ different places and Im sorry, this is not it.Also, chow mein is traditionally noodles. When I called and ordered that they told me that it wasnt noodles and it was with rice which I thought was weird but was willing to try... But this just gross. At least the teriyaki chicken ap. that I ordered with it was pretty good.
Small portions for the price. The meat, noodles and rice was very dry! How do you mess up chicken on a stick 🤷♀️ Messed up on our order and told us to drive back so she could check it
Good food, normally pretty quick at getting you your food. However, portion size is a bit small when compared to the competition in town. Also, wouldnt recommend going into the store if you have a problem with dirty establishments. Definitely needs to be cleaned.
Not at all impressed. Ordered the Szechuan beef - fatty, chewy hunks of meat in a sauce with no chilies and no heat. Paid an extra $2.50 for plain lo mein which was dry and tasteless. The crab rangoon, albeit a little sweet, was decent. And what kind of Chinese place doesnt give you a fortune cookie?
Just had hot and sour soup and an egg roll, but it was good. Soup was loaded with tofu, veggies and ingredients, and did had a bit of heat like its supposed to. Staff was friendly. Place was a bit shabby with a small dining room, but had a homey feel. Must be doing something right as their phone was practically off the hook with delivery orders the whole time we were there, and people started pouring in the door as we were leaving.
Ordered the chicken and green beans with brown sauce, ordered online. I clicked on the button that says chicken and beans!!!! I also ordered other food, but got my order and my beans came with no chicken!! So I called and the kid on the phone told me that it was my fault! He said that I needed to type chicken in the comments box, really?? Why?? It says chicken and beans!! So then I said I wanted a refund or a new order brought to me and they could have the other one back. I was told no! The kid started yelling at me and said it was my fault and there was nothing they would do. And then hung up on me!! Worst customer service ever!! Also, the portions for the price are ridiculous, so small! And food was barely warm when delivered. I will never order from here again! I’m so mad!
Great Wall serves up huge portions of tasty food for a low price. Their lunch/dinner specials are enough food two meals. Everything I have tried so far has been very tasty, I will be returning often.
Many of us are very frequent customers, & we keep going back for more because:Food is outstanding !!Service is fast and super polite.Prices are very reasonable & servings are very generously sized.Very nice family-operated small business.Right next door to our Artists Cooperative. If you havent been there yet, you should know that the location on Main Street is surrounded by great boutique shops & very accessible parking. Some of our favorite items: WonTon Soup, Shrimp with Vegetables, Basil Fried Rice, Chicken Wings, Sweet & Sour (Pork, Chicken, Shrimp). The only negative we can think of is that they dont have air conditioning for the 20+/- days out of the year when that really matters in our climate.
I ordered chicken Chow Mein and it tasted like salt. It came with no noodles. I ordered veggie fried rice separate and they put my chow mein on top of it in the same bowl.. and to top it off, they dont even send you a fortune cookie.
By far the absolute worst Chinese place to order from. Chicken on a stick tasted like a piece of wood. Beef lo mein has no flavor. Delivery was fast that was the only positive thing. Just do yourself a favor and go pick up you chinese from somewhere else.
Im pretty picky about the texture and flavor of the meat I eat and I have to say that this place checks out! The Sesame chicken is very delicious and the crab rangoon is not super sweet like other takeout places. My order took about 40 minutes to get to UW La Crosse but I called about the delivery and the person over the phone was very polite and told me it would be arriving soon. The delivery person was very nice as well. Will order from here again :)
Not bad, just not as good as should be. Pad Thai is one of worlds great foods. Should have at least a little spice. It was almost sweet. All soggy too. Tofu good. Spring rolls not bad, crab rangoon a c+, again not bad, but wouldnt go to restaurant for them.
Ordered online, when I got there 30 minutes later they had not even seen my order. So she found my order and got it started and didnt even tell me how much longer it was going to take. So I waited. When it was finally ready I went up to pay and she tried to charge me more than it told me online(after they already messed up). They werent apologetic and the food was mediocre at best. Very unimpressed and wont be going back.
I ordered crab ragoones twice from here and they are AMAZING! They are the best I have ever had in my life! It tastes real other like some places it’s just “eh”. My roommate thinks the same thing! It’s not a big place but it works and the staff is really nice too!
Only had a bad meal here once in 8 years and I typically stop by once a week. Young is an awesome lady who will let you make any dish extra spicy and the delivery crew she has is super sociable.
Food was great as far as cheap chinese restaurants go. Make sure you either get takeout or have it delivered as the seating area is small, and not very clean. Also the soad I had was expired by several months.
I ordered delivery. Happy Family extra spicy. It arrived with no spicy flavor at all and no rice! When I called to ask for my rice the man on the phone said, " Can we just give you free rice next time? " I said "no!" He said, " So you want us to bring your rice now?" ............... Yes, you heard me right!!!! I cant believe they would even ask that!!!! I wont be eating here again!!!!
Possibly the worst Chinese take out Ive ever had. They seem to have an aversion to vegetables at this place. I ordered the sesame chicken and its shown to have tons of broccoli, but when I got it, it had only 3 pieces of broccoli. Most places skimp on the meat, this places skimps on the veggies, and I have no idea why because Im sure the broccoli is cheaper than the meat. The sauce was burnt and all gooey like it was some kind of gelatin, and the meat was overcooked and just plain gross. They didnt screw up the rice, Ill give them that, but I didnt pay 10 bucks for a nice plate of white rice. Avoid this place if you want to have edible food.
This was our first time ordering from Great Wall & after reading the reviews I was a little hesitant but the food was awesome! I was told 45 minutes & it took just barely 40 minutes. Everything was hot & well organized to avoid spillage. There was enough food with leftovers for another meal or 2. They gave us a variety of condiments for everyones tastes & even threw in some little donuts for free! We were all very pleased & would definetly order from here again!!
I would give this place NO STARS if I could! The first time I went there the food made me sick. I went there for the second time thinking I would give them another chance. I ordered Pork Fried Rice... One of the SIMPLEST THINGS you can get. I was all excited to have it on my lunch break. I got back to my place of work and opened it up and the RICE WAS ALL BURNT AND NEARLY BLACK! I dared to try a few bites of it and it tasted like it was SEVERAL DAYS OLD! This place need to get with the program or quit serving food for peoples hard earned money. I would not recommend this place to anyone until they better the food.
