Great tour including a visit to the rooftop with amazing city views. The steps to the roof are steep and narrow and may not be suitable for everyone.

Magnificent architecture

Do this tour. Best tour/museum/educational experience we had while in Cuba. It is totally worth the time and money to do this, even if you are getting the official exchange rate. Worth it for the views alone (assuming you are okay with taking a small staircase up to the rooftop).

A magnificent place worth to visit and all its history. Fiance and I enjoyed all night the best ballet. Recommend it!

A magnificent building in Neo-Baroque architectural style. Restored after reconstruction in 1914. Opened for public in 1915. Beautiful architecture with many unique details. Presently, Gran Teatro de La Habana houses the Cuban National Ballet. Its a place for ballet, opera and flamenco. Including auditorium Federico García Lorca (1500 seatsand two smaller concert halls - Sala Alejo Carpentier and Sala Ernesto Lecuona. In front of the magnificent building, you may see four sculptures made of white marble. The sculptures depict an allegory of charity, an allegory of education, an allegory of music and allegory of theatre. At the building lobby, you may admire the beautiful bronze statue (height 7,87 ftof Alicia Alonso, which was an unbelievable great Cuban prima ballerina. The bronze statue presents Alicja Alonso during her performance in the romantic ballet "Giselle" in 1943.Earlier, in the same place existed Teatro Tacón (A.D 1838with an auditorium for 2750 seats.Gran Teatro de La Habana it’s the spectacular venue!!! Visiting available with a tour guide.Definitely worth to admire and see.I had a privilege to be there in February 2018.

A Stamp was issued by Cuba on 28 Oct 1988 to mark 150th Anniversary of Great Theatre of Havana. The Original theatre Tacon was built in 1838. It is the home to National Ballet Compnay.

Great place to escape the harsh reality that is Cuba, but there also, government steals from the people and the people steal from the government! Dont worry about ticket availability, contrary to what is said. Actually better to show up last minute if you want your money to go to the latter!!!

Makes for a very nice night walk out at night. Many airbnbs nearby that are way better than the resorts. Space, attention, price.

This is a beautiful theater that was redesigned by a Belgian architect in early 20 century adding the Centro Gallego to it with a beautifull staircase and enormous bar and 200m ball room in the 3th floor with a mag ificent view of centrak park and superb brass chandelier you can also see a 30% size replica of the original chandelier hanging from the ceiling the original one fell down in the early 20th century also you will find there a very well prepare guides who will make your tour really interesting

I recently visited El gran teatro de la Havana, I had an amazing experience, excellent service. I ask for a drink and it was delicious as well as the food , the waitress was very professional and kind !!! I will definitely recommend it!!

The Neo Baroque Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso features highly ornate and even exuberant architectural details. The grandiose facade is dominated by four white marble sculpture groups. Its magnificent sculptures and other stone adornments, as well as marble and bronze works. It is Cuban largest opera house and its the official stage for the Cuban National Ballet.

This is the most beautiful building/theater in Havana - especially during the night.

Fantastic ballet group along with fenomenal musicians! We attended Swan Lake performance and were absolutely impressed by the level of dancers and the accustic of the building. I highly recommend it. $30 for amazing tickets!!! One of the most memorable experience throughout my life.

One of the most beautiful buildings in Havana. I got to enjoy the last presentation of the Nutcracker for 2018 performed by the Cuban National Ballet. It was a full house show that was well organized and executed.

Marvellous kept theatre. Well worth a trip to see the ballet here if possible.

On par with the Kennedy Center in DC, and at $30 a ticket for front row centrally located seats, you’d be a fool to not see a show.Absolutely amazing

Probably one of the most beautiful places to take a photo. Superior location across the street from the Parque Central with the main Havana tourist bus loading area and the José Martí statue. Near the Capital building as well as the most popular pedestrian walking streets of Obispo and San Rafael.

This is a beautiful building and you should do a building tour at the very least or try to get tickets to a performance. We were lucky to be in Havana to see a Dance performance, it was fantastic!

This theater was before the "Galician centre". A place where all immigrants from the northwestern region of the Iberian peninsula could have education and health care.

Went for a ballet show of Giselle by the Cuban Ballet Company. Tickets for foreigners are 30 cuc per person. Officially tickets only go on sale 1 week before the show. But as we found out in Cuba there’s always someone “willing to help you out” should you speak some Spanish. The show was very well done, amazing dancers and great orchestra. The Theater is a true gem. They also have guided tours of the theater. If you have time, please visit the theater!

Aah, the beautiful refurbished Grand Theater Alicia Alonso is just a place for all lovers of the performing arts like dance need to visit and explore. Great interior decor in the lobby which possesses some magnificent ceilings.

.....although we didnt get to see a live show here but just to see and admire this Beautiful structure alone is an awesome experience on it own! Wow! Wow! Wow! The Teatro Tacón had occupied part of the site for decades. Its grand auditorium hosted such European artists as Enrico Caruso and Sarah Bernhardt. During the first years of Cuban independence when thousands of immigrants arrived in Cuba from Spain, a new building was constructed around it, preserving the original theatre.[2] Originally known as the Galician Centre of Havana, the building is decorated with a stone and marble statue as well as sculptures by Giuseppe Moretti, representing allegories depicting benevolence, education, music and theatre.Alicia Alonso, at 82 years old, attending a performance of Swan Lake in El Gran Teatro in Havana, April 2003.The construction of this building, financed by donations of Galician emigrants, began in 1908 and it opened in 1915 with an opera season offered by important artists of the period. In 1985, at the initiative of the prima ballerina Alicia Alonso, the building was renamed the Great Theatre of Havana.Following extensive renovations, the theatre has reopened on January 1, 2016 and renamed to honour the Cuban prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso.

We toured the theater which is beautiful, done mostly in marble. At the time, there was an art exhibit of Cuban works done in the colors of the Cuban flag. I include some pictures. Very creative. Many tricked out taxis were outside.

Amazing building hosting a fully functioning theatre. Tickets for performances are sold at the entrance however difficult to get. Take the tour to get to the first floor into the ball room.

Lovely experience. We went to see a flamenco version of the Phantom of the Opera. The theater is beautiful, the staff is friendly. The only problem, like in many touristic places, is that people focus their attention more on the photos they want to take rather than the show itself...

Undeniably, it is the most elegant piece of neo-classical architecture in centro Habana, the facade is full of statue and baroque details. You can make a visit with a guided tour to see the workshop and stages in day time when there is no performance inside. It is amazing to see how the Cuban paint the backdrop, prepare the costume or design the posters. Some dancers are practising inside the dance room. Also, you should not miss to watch one of the performance inside the main theatre and formal dressing is expected.
