Great Sphinx of Giza in Samalut

The first time you visit is awesome and the pyramids are grand and like nothing youve seen before. The first time we went, we took the horse cart and it was fun but be careful you dont get ripped off . Do your research as the prices range greatly from Usd30 to 80 just for the horse cart ride. The entrance fee only is EGYP 240 pp.We have visited twice, second time on foot which is ok if the weather is nice and not too hot. Located at one end of Cairo city abd about 30-40 mins car ride from old cairo (we stsyed at fairmont nile).

This was so iconic, after seeing it in all my history books since I was a kid it was just amazing seeing it in real life. Parking was easy, no wait time, and you can really walk around and explore the area.

If youre ever in the area, make sure to check out the Great Sphinx of Giza – its definitely a must-see in life! This iconic statue is located on the west bank of the Nile River, and its one of the oldest and largest statues in the world. With its impressive size and mysterious history, its no wonder that the Sphinx is such a popular tourist destination.

To see one the world wonder its nice. Its has a very old history. But it was to difficult to communicate with less English speaking crowd. In the great pyramids be aware of scammers.

Such an amazing experience, the sphinx is definitely smaller than you would think but still doesn’t disappoint!

An amazing piece of history. Cant believe it is still for the most part preserved after all this time. A wonderful addition to the majesty of the pyramids. The laser light show is conducted at the foot of the sphinx. Visit the site during the day and during the night. But definitely go in fall or spring as the weather is mild and walking around is easy.

Awesome place. No words can really describe. Would recommend to rent a camel or horse to be able to cover the area without getting too tired.

A Breathe taking experience! An incredible master piece even if it was too crowded and wasnt allowed to reach closer the Sphinx.

The Sphinx was great, but I was expecting something a bit more, there isnt a lot left from it and after the Pyramids it wasnt so impressive. So I would recommend to see Sphinx first before going to the Pyramids!

Its a beautiful place. It made me a bit sad to see all the plastic waste and scammers. Also the animals there are suffering.

Built 4500 years ago, still standing there with only its nose missing. Try not getting there in the summer (40-45 degrees Celsius)

Breathe taking experience 😊😊… just being present in one of the wonders of the world is a real privilege. Easier to get there by Uber or tour buses which will drop you where you can immediately pay for an entering ticket without the long walk. Entering ticket is 240 Egyptian pound for foreigners and 40 Egyptian pound for other African countries which is paid upon showing your identification document (passport or ID card). There are 9 pyramids (3 big and 6 small, the actual size of the largest pyramid is amazing … seeing it in pictures you can exactly know how it looks like but standing by it OMG 😳( built with stones)… it is a must visit. There are many people available to give you a tour in a carriage , horseback or camel back for different prices depending whether you want a long or short tour … be guided as a foreigner as everyone around is always trying to cheat you so step up your bargaining power game. Tours usually end at the Sphinx where you can take good pictures and buy souvenirs. It’s tiring being in the desert all day and under the sun but trust me IT IS WORTH IT.👌

One of the childhood dream comes ture after visiting this ..by reading articles,photots will not give that experience.if you see this by your eyes in between 3 piramids only give the correct picture.

Amazing experience …just to be there .. unbelievable that it’s built 4000 yrs back… only Ancient wonder that still intact … trips can be made easily from Cairo ( 5 hrs round tripand better to have through local car and guide

Definitely stop at the refreshment stand where the laser show is held and walk up to the Sphinx! Its smaller than youd think but still amazing to see in person!

Noseless Sphinx is bigger than I supposed before. Of course, its crowded all the time, but queue is moving fast, so everyone can get his/her "unique" photo, just as I did.

What not to love! I went to visit with my girlfriend, we did a camel ride (really harder than it seemsto visit the pyramids, the tombs and the Sphinx. We took lots of pictures, the guides gave us a lot of informations on this historical site but also on how to get around. A lot of vendors try to sell souvenirs which are really interesting, but they insist a lot even when you dont want anything. 😅 Otherwise, youll definitely love the experience and dont be afraid to bargain anything its part of the fun.

Great to see in person and marvel at the work thats lasted for centuries. Unfortunately youll run across people trying to sell you things and take advantage of your wallet. Be prepared.

Iconic. Try get around to get unique angles if you are a photo or video lover. It looks little smaller when the background is the great pyramids. However, compared to other spinx around the Egypt, this is the biggest.

A breathtaking monument!Feels so surreal standing in the view of the Sphinx and the pyramids.We were fortunate as it was not too busy and the weather was perfect! Not too hot in April, I’m sure following months will be unbearable!

I was at the Great Sphinx almost 15 years ago and it was open space to take better pictures, today I could hardly see the face.

Amazing piece of stone carving, imagine all the man hours which went into creating the sculpture, and its only purpose was to guard the Great Pyramids, the tombs of the deceased Kings.

Breathtaking piece of history like no other, the energy you could feel when you are walking in the desert knowing that ancient egyptians were there too is enough to get an experience. The BIG downside is the lack of organisation and rules reinforcement. At the entrance it is very crowded and when it comes to buying tickets people are pushing around and cutting lines without anyone organising anything. Very very dirty due to the horses and camels pooping on the floor and no one cleaning it. All in all you must visit but be prepared for some unusual sights which is also part of the egyptian experience 🤷‍♂️😌

You cant explain what it feels like to stand in front of ancient masterpieces until youre there. Ive seen pictures and documentaries of The Great Sphinx throughout my life, alongside the Pyramids and Egyptian wonders in general- but nothing- not a single things compares to being there in person. It was worth the 42 years of wait!

Standing so close to the Great Sphinx of Giza is breathtaking. Amazing to finally see the Sphinx after reading about Egyptian history in our school books.The area for viewing the Pyramids and the Great Sphinx is quite large so you never really feel too crowded.

Amazing to see in real life! We visited late in the day and the site was very crowded. Might be better early in the day. We were not able to go right up to it and touch it like with the pyramids. Looks like they are doing some restoration. Still able to get close enough for some great pictures!

the place is great but it needs some orgnazingticket man tock from me more money than supposed to beand no information or plane or map or suggestionthe place is some thing unbelievable amazing Realy but in other handyou will see many homeless dogsand also people inside they trying to force use to hire camels or horses or asking for money I think I faced tens of them.the place is great but it must be more organized

A beautiful sight!!! It was delightful to witness one of the wonders of the world in all its glory. However, beware of pickpockets and always haggle the prices of souvenirs sold by vendors there.

What words can explain the feeling you get standing just 50 or so yards away from one of the recognized moments in the world. My daughters were over come with excitement truing to kiss the Sphinx. Learning about the Sphinx does not compare to the experience of being here. Please. They Egyptian people are amazing. If you get a chance come visit this amazing country.

Had the honor of visiting the sphinx in October 20 21, of course most cannot go inside the enclosure only with special permission. Best time to visit October through March.

magical place, the weather is amazing, but i think there is no need to horses or camels, we can use electrical cars.also it sould be more organized due to its value..

Maybe a little smaller than expected. Nevertheless, an absolute must if you are visiting the Giza plateau. I visited a little before closing (closes at 1600and there were lots of visitors. Good pictures available if you stand by the road on the right and catch the camels and horses leaving the site at the end of the day.

Always loved the ancient culture of Egypt. It was something out of the extraordinary to being able to see it in real.Would be a completely marvellous and unblemished experience if it wasn’t for the hassle and harassment especially at the entrance.Otherwise, get yourself a camel 🐪 (cuz you can ride a horse elsewhereand go for a ride to feel the energy of this spectacular place. It’s something you’ll remember for life. 😊👍

Visiting Giza is every but as magical as you would expect. It was definitely a bucket list place for me and did not disappoint. There is a lot of walking to see the pyramids and the Sphinx but is worth it. I was not going to ride the camels because it seemed like a very touristy thing to do. I changed my mind and had a blast. Id recommend a little time spent on a camel.

The view is insane-its must be on the to do list once in a life.A place full of history indeed.There are also tourists and groups of tourists that ghater all in the same places,local guides giving all the same info about the temples-thats a little bit annoying to hear three different men talking about the same thing each one in his own style of yelling.Another minus is the "exit path" that is full of local merchandisers trying to make you buy smth for 1$.All in all,the place is a must once in your life.

The place is amazing for pictures, but the guides would try to loot you by asking for tips, and our guide didnt even take us inside the pyramids, and when we refused for extra tip he started getting annoyed, so beware. Apart from that take a horse and you can go to a hill and get amazing pictures
