Great Divide Ski Area - Ski resort in Helena, United States
I cannot give the great divide enough credit for my wedding that was held there this weekend. It was so incredibly beautiful. The owners went out of their way to make sure every detail was absolute perfection. The planning, decorating, photos, music and food were all wonderful! I would recommend them 1000% to anyone looking for a wedding venue. Thank you Travis and Rose for all that you did for us!
This is a nice mom and pop ski hill and I have had a lot of fun nights here. The Friday night tickets are cheap and it’s fun to go up after a long week. However, I have had some negative experiences with the red bearded lift operator. I said hi to him and he yelled at me for basically nothing. I wouldn’t subject my ex wife to that and she cheated on me two times with three different men. Anywho, overall pretty good but jus a couple negative customer service experiences.PS Markus wants your rentals for keeps
Such a gem!Wasnt sure what to expect, I hit Great divide on a 3-month road trip of the biggest mountains in North America. The chill local Mom and pops vibe combined with the actually good skiing was definitely a highlight of the trip!
A great place to go night Skiing, Really cheap for a Friday night.... 12$. One of the nicest group of lifties and ski patrols iced ever seen!!!
Lots of mixed feelings about this place. First the good things: great prices (love the 12 dollar Friday nights), super close to helena which is awesome, and lots of fun features and jumps to practice on. I also love the lodge since it has a fun classic ski lodge vibe and the other huts on the mountains are awesome. The Snow is okay but there are lots of spots with no snow at all. I do understand that this isnt their fault and I like how they compensate by building fun features around the mountain. The only thing that really bothers me is the staff. A younger women inside at the ticket desk was very rude and greeted me with "what do you want". Also the chubby guy with the red beard is SUPER rude and yells at everyone on the lifts. I have tried saying hi and wishing him a good day and he doesnt respond. I’ve also heard him yell at kids. New guy working on the lifts this Friday was very nice though so I appreciated that. The food workers have also been pretty kind. Keep up the great work guys!
Great Divide Ski Area is far beyond 5 stars. Their amazing customer service continues to amaze me after years of bringing my family. Their instructors are second to none and you feel like family. It is not the lavish resort, but in todays world I would much rather have caring, understanding people with great customer service than anything else. We will be coming back to Great Divide for years to come.Jay and Cate Nelson
Ive skied at Great Divide many times, and Ive had a blast every time! I always purchase a half price punch card to save money, Id highly recommend getting one if youre a budget skier like me who only goes a couple times a year!
We came all the way form miles city but we had really bad experience with check in counter with one girl, dont remember her name, we rented our gear and when tried to return she told my wife like thats not belong to you(really rude manner), your name is not Jenny or whatever she name , I was like really how you treat people, we want to spend few days there but guess what no thank you.
This is a super nice and fun family owed ski hill. They have an awesome staff that is super friendly and helpful.
This resort was super cool and very accommodating. We had originally set up for a whole snowboarding private lessons and rental for our children on New Year’s Eve. Then the weather changed and expected to be below zero and horrible for the 31st. With it being our kids first experience we really did not want it to be horrible conditions so we called frantically to see if we could come up on the 30th instead on that morning. With in 1.5 hours we had everything transferred and were able to give our children the experience of a lifetime by learning how to Snowboard. The mountain ended up closing for the whole day of the 31st because of weather so it all worked out perfectly. High recommend this mountain for a family friendly atmosphere and experience.
This place is definitely going down hill fast since the new owners took over! Used to be a great place to go to but they really have ruined the chill atmosphere there. Nuttin but bad vibes and rude service anymore in all there departments. Very poorly managed as well! We all have made the decision to get our season passes at Discover this year, cause its definitely worth the l extra drive to avoid this place. Plus they maintaine there ski hill 10x better then GD does.
Great and affordable local ski area! Both the previous and current owners are wonderful people and very helpful. There arent too many easy runs, but that means theres more adventure and fun to be had in and around the trees. If you stay off the main area of the mountain theres plenty of skiing where you can make fresh tracks and ski without seeing too many people. Personally, I really appreciate coming up on Fridays but work doesnt always agree.
This place was packed during the weekend. Offers different runs with several lifts, have to wait about 10 minutes though. Staffs work there are really nice and helpful. Worth paying a visit
Great location for local ski fun. The owners are incredibly friendly and the locals were very welcoming.
Super cool small resort with a great vibe. Would love to try out the night skiing and a day with more snow and powder. I’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend going if you have the opportunity!
Very fun session night skiing. First time there and will definitely be back.Buy tickets online and skip some time in the lodge.
The bunny run had good conditions. The blues and blacks should not be open. Rocks, sticks, and bushes everywhere.
Great powder! Loved the lodge, all the service was super friendly and fast. Thanks for the great day!!
Great Divide is amazing. Awesome workers, family friendly and easy drive from helena.
The lift attendants are rude. A mom with her young child asked the ski lift operator to slow the lift down and he said the lifts were slow enough. He is yelling at young children for no good reason. I would hope not every employee acted this way or else the place would not be in business.
Great family ski resort! Wonderful staff and positive instructors. Over 30 years of skiing here and still the same great place.
Great ski area. Easy, short drive from Helena. Super nice staff. The season pass deal was awesome and makes the hill great for getting out of town to get in a few laps. Lift lines can get a little long when theres only enough snow to open a couple of lifts. When there is a lot of snow, all the terrain will be open and theres rarely a line. Just a really good local hill feel overall.
Betsy and the new owners are amazing. Customer service is great. We love our hometown ski hill.
Good vibes! Great views! Great crew to help get your skis and boots lined out for the season!! They really took their time to make sure to find the right gear for me at my level of skiing. PS... the new addition thats going up will be saaweet!!!
Great ski area. Nice bar to have a drink. Changing table in the restroom.
I came here from Colorado to do work related training and wow I have to say this place is a gem, amazing! no crazy lines, people and staff are friendly and their hospitality is by far the best. This place has a small town feel and the staff and regulars will make you feel at home. Like I said Im from Colorado and have been to places like Vail, Keystone, and Breckenridge, but this place I can see my self coming back to Montana just for this Ski Area and the vibe and all around atmosphere it provides!
Wonderful spot for families to learn skiing at affordable prices only a quick 30 minute drive from Helena.
The drive in is simple, no traffic at all. Staff were incredibly friendly. I didn’t wait even once in the 2.5 hours I was there to get on a lift. Lifts seem a little outdated, but move fairly quick, much faster than the explorer lift at Big Sky, yet smaller. Seems to have a wide variety of terrain to ride. I’m looking forward to getting into those trees once they get just a bit more snow.
Fun local mountain. Definitely worth the small amount of money to ski here. If there is a lot of snow then you will have an amazing time. When snow is lite it is still a fun place.
Hope Carroll College still has skiing as a PE elective. Centuries ago Divide was a tune up before we headed to Canada. There is a something for everybody at Divide but we couldnt turn down the exchange rates.Still have a scar on my leg from an errant ski pole. Proudest scar.
Great place, but whatever you do dont go left after you get off the Belmont lift unless you want to go to the black diamonds or have less snow to ski on. Go right if you want more blue squares and more snow. Go down between the fences and by the lift and lift towers if you want expert only.WARNING: If you go by a fence from Snow Fields (1 underUpper Wild Acres it turns from a blue square to a black diamond. Start on the Backyard first and go from there.Note: Review written by my 5th grade son :)
I have been two times this season and both times have been bad experiences. Each time we went to buy our lift tickets we were told there were multiple lifts open. The first time we went only one lift was open and the second time two. Both are lifts that only give you access to the front of the mountain. When asked to get a discount on our lift tickets they refused. The place has nice trails but haven’t been able to get to them this year even with all the snow. With only 1-2 lifts being open they shouldn’t expect people to pay full price. Will be sticking to Showdown in Great Falls
Awesome local ski area!
We had some issues with my husbands boots this last time we were there; they helped us out for free! Weve always had good experiences there but after their helpfulness this last time I thought they totally deserved a good review! Super nice family and great customer service. Thank you for being one of the few good places left.
Hands down the best ski value in the northern Rockies. Only 25 minutes from Helena, GD offers great skiing and riding for every age and skill level. They go out of their way to make skiing a family adventure. You never gave to pay full, price as they always have specials going. Buy tickets in advance online and save 20 percent or more.Skip work on Wednesday and get fresh tracks and $3 pints of Helena brews.
Great Divide is a great place for families. The rental shop has competent employees to help rent ski equipment. The Bunny Hill is a lot of fun with its own warming shack. The rest the hill is nicely laid out with friendly chair operators . We love the night skiing.
Fabulous day skiing at Great Divide. Great lunch and, of course, friendly, dedicated staff. We are so fortunate to live nearby! The Parking Lot was full and there were hundreds of people skiing & snowboarding.A great time was had by all.
The best small ski area youll ever visit. The Taylors are so friendly, there are a crazy amount of honey holes, and the terrain is fun and unique. Also love the feel of the lodge/deck, and some great drinks at the lively bar. Also, you wont find this cheap of a ticket anywhere. For the amount of terrain, this is the best deal in skiing. The double chairs are slow and the snow can be thin, but its all part of the experience!
Small hometown ski area. No lines when I went. Had quite a bit of terrain for only a couple of lifts. Price is pretty cheap I would go back again
Im from Bozeman, so even though the ski hill is of Modest size compared to what I am used to, you cant beat the price. I make it a point to visit more than once every winter. (The staff is great too)
Lousy Internet and cell service, and paying way too much for food and beverages. Im told the slopes are fun, but if youre stuck in the lodge, good luck to you. No comfortable furniture, poorly heated, and noisy. Local dogs beg for your food. Fun.
Amazing place to ski/snowboard. All the staff members are great and the mountain offers a wide variety of skill levels. Family fun for all ages. I am anxiously awaiting my next trip there!
Best value for a day skiing anywhere, come up on a day when wild West chair lift is open for a unique experience!
relatively cheap and short drive from cities near by. great little place to ski :)
Great ski hill! There is quite a lot to explore on this mountain. There are ticket deals going on all the time here too.
What a great little ski area and night skiing too. Just a hop skip and a jump out of Helen, and and loaded with fun for the whole family.
Family friendly great service excellent food the cheese fries are great! Great skiing night or day ,real fun runs no matter your skill level overall a really great place for the price a ticket costs!
Great family area! Lots of variety of ski runs. Great on powder days. Very affordable
These guys host a family run ski hill that is always great fun. They have a great park with rails and jumps that anyone can enjoy. I really like this place as it is our local hill and that is what you will find here is a nice family friendly local ski hill with lots of good times.
Great divide has earned its nickname The Rock. It has limited snowfall, and wind that bllows that away. Between the ice sheets and bare ground, youd think it wasnt worth it, but youd be wrong. On a good day, it can be an exciting place to be. If you can ski there on a bad day, you can ski anywhere. It isnt the same caliber of mountain as Bridger Bowl, but the terrain makes for a varied runs and an enjoyable full day of skiing, or boarding.
