Grant County RV Park - in John Day, United States
We only spent one night! It was a convenient stop for us. Not a bad spot to stay!
Nice no frills Overnight stop.
Friendly staff nice and well kept love how I can keep my horse on the grounds with me. Always stay here when in town
Great place for a gathering!
Very nice little rd park. Clean and quiet.
Beware when booking online reservations there are bots that take you to other campgrounds reservations site without giving you notice. This happened to us over a holiday weekend, as the site routed us to this place. We couldnt get a hold of management after multiple attempts to correct and get a refund. Dont reserve site #1 or 2, they are deceiving. #1 is in direct sun and just a wide extension of the parking lot. No table or fire ring. # 2 is small, barely room to sit outdoors. Fireplace was a rotten out tire rim full of cigarettes. No safe way to have a a campfire as the only option for the tire ring was under a small tree. All this and and your view is of a garage with fencing on the side. No safe easy river acces, no river view. If your going just to sleep in your trailer and enjoy fairground activities it will work, but dont book for an actual camping vacation site, you will be disappointed. Also, someone said in reviews there are showers and toilets, no clue where theyre located. All we saw was a portable potty and dirty outdoor wash basin. We left after 1 night even though we had booked for 4. Theres alot of other beautiful places to pick instead.
Only stayed here for an overnight during a pleasure trip to Canada. The riverwalk was very nice. The people (both guests and staffwere very friendly and helpful. Thinking about another trip to this area, just so I can spend some time here. Would like that. The sites were well marked and level. no hiccups from my ems.
I was hesitant at first. Unable to reach the "Host" via phone or at lot #14, only seeing portable toilets, and a permanent looking tent set up. I was worried. Finally reaching the host we were told there are flushing toilets, showers (additional $5 fee), the tent was a 2 week person getting mushrooms, I felt better. Our stay was outstanding. The grass was short and green, the bathrooms were clean, the showers were decent, and the area was so quiet. Located next to a mild river and a gravel walking path, we felt secure and private during our stay. The space was large enough that we could have our grandkids visit us to play ball and have a picnic. We highly recommend this location to tent/car camp at. A great value at $10 per night to dry camp.
great place to stay easy parking for 5th wheels.
Nice RV park, quiet, reasonable price on a creek
Pretty much a self serve place. Just go look for your name on the RV site and park there. No staff on property so you are pretty much on your own. The sites were dirty and covered in leaves, there was trash in the fire pit and 3 dogs just running around the RV park getting into other guests’ RV sites.A couple of good things: there was cell reception in the park and the WiFi was decent.
Easy in, easy out. Shaded, quite, price is right.
Well we enjoyed our time here . We really like staying at fair grounds that have rv hook ups. But with that being said I really think that someone needs to address the speeders that go through here. That includes the US GOVERNMENT VEHICLES . I GUESS BECAUSE THEY HAVE A BADGE IT MAKES IT OK. THE CAMP HOST IS NON EXCITANT . THERE REALLY NEEDS TO BE SPEED LIMIT SIGNS THROUGHOUT THE PARK 5MPH ACCORDING TO THE PAPERWORK. I GUES THE LONG TREM FOLKS DONT HAVE TO FOLLOW THE GUIDLINES OR RULES.Great place .other than that.
Lots of trees overhead, lots of old gravel underfoot. Picnic benches are a.metal mesh and hard on the kiester. Restrooms are a hike to get to. But a nice little rv park for a one nighter.
Great place to camp, clean and friendly.
Very nice camping under fall foliage. Quiet, comfortable and easy. Thanks John Day citizens.
Great place for dogs . No bathrooms open covid closure .
Nice park, big pull through spaces, full hook ups
Very clean park. The asphalt pad is long enough for our 5th wheel and truck. They offer 30 or 50 amp, and full hook-ups. The view of the mountain is very nice and the park is quiet. There are trees between every space to give you a little privacy and each site has a fire pit with a little bit of wood, and a metal coated picnic table.
Full hookups, next to the John Day River, large grassy areas to play, large tree shaded spots...plus all the attractions in the area...great spot for a few days!
Nice place. It is small, but quite right now. No cable, but great wifi. We have a tall 5th wheel (semi truck heightand caught a few branches going into our space. Most spaces looked clearer height wise. Walking to town just a block or two.
Nice place to tent camp with a group. Motorcycle riding after being at home under quarantine instructions.
Absolutely love this RV campground, it is clean, has nice shady spots, right next to the John Day River. Walking distance to town and a grocery store. Beautiful views of the Strawberry Mountains.
Easy registration, good facilities, quiet setting, Mother Nature provided the showers, will come again.
Clean, power and WiFi with full hookups during Clovid. Right beside river.
chill rv park, spaces are kinda cramped, but lots of open grass space adjacent with John day river opposite. screaming wifi, rv dump site also with "pay in the box" fee. also showers $5 for non-campers! stalls are pretty nice, and hot, fairly clean and private. three on the backside of the bathrooms building. seems mostly self guided, not a lot of on site crew members, but there is an information booth near the front with a lil free library!
Very pleasant parking under shady trees. Dont recall having much Internet. But overall a quiet, relaxing spot.
Not a big park, but quiet. Nice grass area for dog walking, and a nice area along the John Day river. Pull through and back in sites. Walking distance for a visit to Kam Wha Chung!
Couldnt find an actual person to talk to the showers say they are 5 dollars then 4 then 1 dollar i guess they cant make up their minds. Overall i guess in a town this small something is better than nothing. Next time i think id rather go with nothing.
This was a very nice park! Dog friendly and quiet. Clean bathrooms and showers.
Nice shady, level RV sites next to the fairgrounds. Dont think they all have full hookups.
Excellent little rv park. Half of the spots are pull through. Wifi speed is slow when the park is fully booked, so no Netflix when there are plenty of guests.
Very clean, nice place. Great showers and bathrooms.
Great friendly place..trees..grass..picnic tables..reasonable price...can sit and watch the 4H kids practice riding their horses.. Would stay again
I would give it 5 stars, but there was nowhere to deposit garbage. Also signs said " no fires" because it was dry...but it was March snow melting... very damp, cloudy & misty and other folks had fire pits going. Seems like no one is in charge of keeping the signage up-to-date?...lots of spots were open and we got a good one. $30 a night.
We have stayed here many times. Full hook up. Nice shade trees. Limited spaces, pull through.
I like the place because its well situated between points of my interest, Baker City and Bend, Oregon. Its small and more suited for small RVs. It has the important services, but the bathroom and showers are across a broad grass field. The field is probably where we were bitten several times by flying insects.
I rated 3 stars because Ive never rented a space here but the grounds are kept up well and seem nice.
We are full time RVers and Had a nice stay here for 9 days in a Class A. Easy check in and reasonable price. Zero interaction with staff, as no one really works here and someone just comes around to put up reservation signs. Pretty peaceful. Nice to have the trail right behind the campground for dog walking. Staff should put up signs about keeping dogs on a leash because there are loose dogs around often. No separation between sights really so you’re close to neighbors. Free WiFi works surprisingly well most of the time. This was a very peaceful stay and convenient to walk everywhere in town and to go sit by the river behind the trail. I’d stay here again while in the area.
This park is operated by the county and is next to the fairgrounds in the town of John Day, OR. There are 25 FHU level sites with picnic tables, fire rings and shade trees. The sites are paved and the rest of the area is gravel. The free WiFi worked really well and was fast for us. Only PBS OTA TV reception. The are also locations for dry/tent camping for $15. Restrooms and showers facilities are located on the fairgrounds about 150 away from RV spots. There are no laundry facilities in the park. There is a walking path next to the park along the John Day River. Reasonable and well situated to visit the area.
Went for fair and carnival with family and the entire staff of carnival was on meth. Very disappointed. Prayers that that shot show gets shut down.
Very nice, dog friendly and nice restrooms/showers!
Close to town and quiet for the most part. Mowing early (to beat the heatwasn’t really what I was looking for at 7am (but I’m on vacation). Extremely easy to deal with and very nice. The picnic tables could use some replacing or up keep. Overall a nice experience passing through.... one nice is perfect. Now to see if there is a dump station?
Place is very nice, cleans, very quiet, it next to the river lot play area for pets and kids.
Yes, its at the fairgrounds, which are very well maintained. Staff was super nice and helpful. Bathrooms (across the grass fieldwere clean, spacious and hot water. The location was perfect for exploring the town. Would definatley stay agian.
This is a great place to stay nice walking path close to the river would stay here again
Nice and quiet. Pet friendly. Unfortunately lots of pollen right now.
Stayed overnight in September 2017. Pull throughs all filled, only back in spaces available. $30 gets FHU, park is small but in good condition, restrooms could be closer, Im thinking better than 150 from campsites.
OK for one night. Restrooms a long walk from camping area, $5 fee to shower. WIFI non existent. Self registration.
Located at the fairgrounds, this place gets mixed reviews from me. The trees are lovely and it is a very quiet location from which you can walk to town if you want. There at both pull -through and back-in sites. It is small but negotiable. The grounds are very dirty with the old gravel almost gone. I was glad we had a rug to put down at the door. The wifi worked sporadically the first day and then it just went away. Management seemed confused about site assignments. If there is a public bathroom we were not made aware of it nor a laundry. I would only return because the town is so cute and the people very friendly.
