Granite Belt Brewery in Warwick
Description
As returning customers we absolutely loved our stay last year. So much so we asked friends to join us this year. Staying 4-5 nights. The disappointment first started when we asked reception to build a fire in an area where there had been a firepit last year but noticed it had been cleared so we wanted to check to see if it would be OK to build a fire in that same spot again. The receptionist said that would be fine so we proceeded to build the fire. Suddenly two men came storming out to us saying "what are you doin!!" like we were naughty children, it just seemed that they had their wires crossed as to what was allowed and maybe a different approach and a different tone might be better received. Secondly, we had accidently locked our keys in our cabin, mind you you only get one set, it was after hours but not too late approximately 7.45pm so we called the emergency numbers for a spare key. When the person came to bring the other keys we were greeted with no acknowledgement and a very cold and unfriendly attitude. Accidents happen and this is part of your job. Moral of the story....when staying at Granite Belt dont ask to build a fire and forget your key as you will be scolded like a child and made to feel like a pest
MoreHad the 3 course menu for dinner. Food was very good, service was friendly. Dinner included a beer paddle or wine.
MoreBeautiful location just outside of Stanthorpe. Cabins are cosy and beautiful. Pot Belly stove and fire wood is plentiful and beds are comfortable cosy. Definitely recommend for something a little more intimate or for families. Lost of fun to be had locally.
MoreStayed for 2 nights in a spa cabin. The accommodation was STUNNING, everything was thought of down to the fire being pre set with kindling, honestly just beautiful. Brewery was great, beer was fantastic and the food in the restaurant was to die for. We will certainly be back again and again.
MoreAs a country facility, it is great. However, in an increasingly complex world, the brewery must compete with those further afield (especially in urban areas). The kitchen produces amazingly enjoyable food. The wine selection is excellent. The beer - pass (the brewer isnt abreast of current trends). Malt driven, low hopped beers are passe!
MoreLess a Brewery, More Lodge/ Restaurant. Came to taste beer but found this place to be much more of a destination lodge and restaurant. It is really a cool spot and the cabins look lovely and are set in a quiet relaxing forest hillside. The bar is small, set amidst a sprawling dining room with a few cozy nooks with couches and big chairs as well as a fireplace, very comfy atmosphere. The beer however was disappointing and that is of course totally subjective so take it how you will. All their offerings aside from a sour and one other fruit or porter (I cant remember those two exactlyare quite low alcohol content that is not atypical for Aussie brews but I question whether you can even call an ale an India Pale Ale with a 4.8% abv, this would be by any metric a Session IPA. The IBUs arent listed but the IPA had to have a very low IBU rating as it tasted like a basic more malty English Ale, not an IPA. I sampled two other beers and they were fine but nothing interesting.Dinner was not being served the evening I was there so all I did was beer tasting. Overall it looks like a nice place for a family retreat or maybe work retreat if you are staying a few days, probably a bit expensive for one night especially if dinner isnt being served...unless there is a different arrangement for guests as opposed to the drop in drinkers and diners.
MoreGood beer but had to sit outside. We were promised a heater and tried to talk to a staff member afterward but were ignored. After a while we were too cold and had to leave
MoreStopped in and had a tasting paddle. Not generally a beer drinker but still had a good time. Enjoyed the Irish Pale Ale and the cider the most.
MoreWe had the most beautiful time! Log cabins super cosy with the fire place and has everything you need, very comfy bed. Amazing breakie in a box! I felt I was tucked away in the bush but with everything on my doorstep. Will definitely be back. Thanks for having us!
MoreDelicious food and a variety of choices. The 2 course lunch for $35 is excellent value.Wait times when busy are reasonable.Staff are friendly and helpful.
MoreA male staff member with an accent was very lovely and provided us a suggestion on some nice sight seeing spots. The IPA and Porter were nice if you like more a malty developed flavour. Stay away from the lemon myrtle chilli beer, I like all of those things, but that didnt do it for me. We didnt try the food, so I cant comment. They were a little under staffed. Nice atmosphere and it looks like theyre trying. Only took off one star as the female wait staff initially didnt want to seat us without a booking even though were were only staying for a beer and the place was still empty. My suggestion for the future would be to ask how long we would stay and see if there was somewhere that could accommodate us properly.
MoreDropped in at lunch time for a snack and a few drinks. Only option was a $35 two course meal. Too expensive for what we wanted. Food was OK.
MoreWhat a beautiful spot. Lovely restaurant area, bar area with an open fire. Deck overlooking the lake out the back with ducks and Rosellas eating from the bird feeders out the front.
MoreDisappointing. We ate here as a family for dinner. There is no lighting in the carpark which is unsafe on a gravel/dirt road. The dining area is comfortable and wait staff were nice. We found the food to be really poor quality for the price. The kids meals were $20 each for a very ordinary offering. The only option for dinner is a set menu with limited choice for $45/$65 each. The chicken curry was not good, the rice was undercooked and crunchy. There was a really long wait for meals, over an hour between ordering and eating. An expensive and disappointing evening.
MoreGreat little brewery just outside of Stanthorpe. Their beers are delicious and the snack menu is inexpensive and tasty
MoreAbsolutely loved this place - great ambience, charm, great beer, and they even welcome dogs on the outback deck over the lake watching the ducks (had to watch the metal ones stealing your drinks. Lol). Service was wonderful and the chicken wings were to die for. Well have to venture this way again. Great day out. 🥰🦆🍻🍹
MoreSituated in a relaxing location and everyone was very friendly. Delicious beer and food.
MoreJust came for a few drinks. Really lovely bar area with a fireplace. Super friendly staff. Great selection of beers, we tried several and they were all delicious. Very reasonable priced take away packs. Delicious cider, can highly recommend.
MoreIf I could leave no stars If I could. Rude, demeaning and unprofessional. Kicked us off a table that was booked, calming that they were fully booked. Sooooo unprofessional!
MoreDan is the absolute man! He was so attentive and had amazing suggestions! Can’t recommend enough! As well as the atmosphere and beautiful scenery!
MoreAbsolutely enjoyed out time here.Had 3 course meal, blueberry ale and to cabin. Amazing experience. And great breakfast tray.
MoreFantastic venue for accommodation , beer and great food. Our log cabin was nestled amongst the rocky bushland and had a lovely fire.A good place to base yourselves for a weekend of exploring - or just stay on-site the whole time !
MoreGreat place to stay! Gin tastings Fri-Sun (delish!Beer tasting paddles any time. As many have said, lunch and dinner are set course options, and dinner is not available every night.Cosy cabins, comfy bed, steamy hot water and cute fireplaces 🔥
MoreNice selection of beer, though there was no lunch menu, despite what it said online. Chicken wings we tasty though.
MoreIm in two minds about this place. The location is stunning and the cabins are really nice to stay in. However, the actual restaurant is leaves a lot to be desired. The service is incredibly sloppy. We had 2 meals get forgotten first a main then a dessert. The food is pretty poor quality but its also pretty cheap. The beers are excellent though. My advice is go for the beers and stick to simple bar foods.
MoreFood and Beer, not necessarily in that order. Great staff, good spot to spend time with friends and family. Cabins attached.
MoreMy family and friends camped just down the road from this brewery and what sort of blokes would we be, if we didnt take our families there for lunch...and few ales!.First impression, it feels and looks like a German beer house which I love going to.After quite a few minutes we decided to stay for their fixed lunch menu which I found very strange as our only lunch option.$30 for a meal and desert whether you wanted desert or not.I ordered a pulled pork burger with chips...it tasted fine.My wife and others had a pizza, well it looked so depressing when it came out and certainly not value for money. It tasted more like a bought frozen pizza. The beer itself was okay, personal taste will dictate if you like it or notMy whole group walked away from this place very disappointed, go here at your own expense as it wasnt cheap.Unfortunately I went against locals advice not to go here...next time I will listen.
MoreLost opportunity for the brewery here. Had to find the entrance to the brewery in the dark. No lights in the car park which poses a safety risk. We had a dinner booking at 19:30. Waited 5 mins before anyone acknowledged us. Not a great first impression. Menu was limited and you were forced to buy two courses regardless of what you wanted. Was not given a drinks menu and had to ask for one. When we ordered drinks, they took a very long time to come out, even though the barmen was not busy, rather polishing glasses. This would indicate that the drinks order wasn’t put into the pos for over 10 mins, not great service. I ordered a 4x 200ml paddle. Coming from Brisbane we have excellent breweries to choose from. To my disappointment, the beers at granite belt were not on the same level of quality as what I am used to. The flavour was not there. The pick of the beers was the Irish red ale, nice use of hops and malt, was flavoursome. The food was expensive. The beef cheeks were ok, but the beef was dry and over cooked. Sauce was lacklustre and needed to be seasoned. The cheeseboard for dessert was a joke. Given the $45 we paid for two courses, I received 6 crackers and two small pieces of cheese, would of been under 30 grams of cheese. The cheeseboard came with a few walnuts and a paste also. My partner got the apple crumble with ice cream. It was presented well but was a small serving. Apple crumble tasted great. Was not a great experience for our family. Missed the mark with most of the issues I raised. It’s frustrating as the problems are easy fixes, which would turn this review in the future from a fail to a pass. I may give Granite Belt Brewery another try in 2 or 3 years. Until than, I wish you good luck.
MoreVery relaxing and peaceful spot. We recently stayed in a family cabin which was rustic and nothing too fancy, but spacious with excellent facilities for the price. Lovely fireplace and nice breakfast hamper to start the day. Thoroughly enjoyed dinner at the restaurant and enjoyed sitting on the large deck watching ducks and kookaburras with our son while enjoying a drink. Highly recommend, we will be back!
MoreWe had lunch at this delightful brewery yesterday and highly recommend a visit. From the friendly & knowledgeable young lad waiting on us, the relaxing & well thought out outdoor area, the great & reasonably priced food - it was all excellent. Well done to the family running this business.
MoreWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Granite Belt Retreat. We had in tow with us our 15 year old Staffy (Amitywho was made to feel just as welcome as us :We were able to sit out the back with her enjoying our afternoon drinks. The food was absolutely beautiful, so many flavours, thank you to the chefs and the waitstaff behind the scenes who made our taste buds dance and for their efficiency in how quickly the meals arrived and how helpful and welcoming you all were (the stuff eggplant was my favourite)!!We enjoyed the tasting beer pallet, one with seemingly interesting flavours turned out to be one of our favourites! The cabins were perfect, the entire stay was memorable and well be booking our next stay in the dead of Winter to experience the crisp and enjoy a bottle of red by the fire.Thank you so much for having us.The couple with their old old little mutt Amity :")
MoreThe Deck bar is a beautiful addition to an already wonderful place to visit. Dog-friendly back verandah overlooking a lake, shaded by a beautiful old oak tree.Cocktails available, but the local gins are the star. Served simply, with fresh garnishes that enhance the natural flavours without overpowering.Attentive but discreet staff and quality food from the seasonal menu have made this one of my favourite places to visit.Fantastic for dates or romantic getaways, the Deck bar is going to be my favourite after work spot to relax from now on!
MoreCame to the Granite Belt Brewery for lunch and a beer before heading to local Foxbar Falls for camping. I honestly would of also been happy to stop on the way home for lunch too. We tried the banquet option of a main and a desert for lunch for $30. Great value. Our group tired the venison & vegetable pie on mash with gravy, pulled porky burger with fries, pizza and nachos. For desert the apple cake dish with homemade icecream (sorry can’t remember actual nameand the espresso brûlée. Everyone LOVED their meals. Created with so much flavour it all tasted as if it were made from scratch on the premises.Place has that log cabin look and you can take your furbaby and sit outside to eat and drink.
MoreA well established craft brewery in beautiful resort. The rooms were clean and very homely. We were presented with a crate of goodies for breakfast and a warm and cheery welcome. The restaurant wasnt running at full capacity due to the trying times of Covid so its forgivable. We could however get light meals that were decent. The craft brews were something else though. Maybe it comes from being established for some time because they really have some standout brews. I particularly fell in love with the Irish Red Ale.We had a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed, hot shower, great breakfast and beautiful grounds to mosey around in.
MoreLovely place with great beers. Very peaceful and relaxing. Unfortunately they’re all booked out this time, we will definitely stay here for our holiday next time.
MoreNice venue with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, vide range of beers which should have something for everyone. The chocolate series porter and pale ale were my favs. Only downside is they dont sell growlers and squeelers however if you remember to bring one they do fill them.
MoreVery nice setting for a brewery. The beer was rather good, we got a tasting paddle to try a bit of everything. We didnt eat as it was a set menu only but the food looked nice.Great place to watch the sunset and see the sky change colour.
MoreWonderful place to visit for a holiday, we only stayed for 2 nights in the cabin which was great. The seclusion is peaceful and your only about 8 minutes from central Stanthorpe. We loved the brewery, the food was delicious and the beer was tasty. There is also a ping pong table 😁The feel of the brewery was also very nice and warm. The attention to detail even in the bathrooms was great and very fancy.Overall if we come to Stanthorpe again we will definitely come back.
MoreIt was nice, but more or less just like going to a pub. Wasnt really much to explore or see from the Brewery side of things.I wasnt particularly fond of the beers, but the food was definitely nice and the place had a nice atmosphere. Especially with the fire going.
MoreSadly we were really unimpressed with the meals. The menu was a set menu meaning you had to pay $30 for adults and $20 for kids and a desert was automatically included even if you didnt want desert. The vegetarian options were limited and the steak sandwich didnt even come out toasted. Was just really average food for a high price and limited options. A shame as I would like to support local businesses bit definitely wouldnt go there again.
MoreOnly stopped by to have the beer this time but my family have stayed in the cabins on a previous occasion. Such a good idea to have the tasters. Its also a lovely spot to hide away from the cold in winter.
MoreRecently stayed here and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Cabins were just great, compact and a great fire place, Breakfast basket was very nice. Restaurant was also superb with the 2 and 3 course meal choices.
MoreStopped in for a meal. Very good food.Set menu only. Would be nice if it was a choice of two or three courses from the whole menu rather than main+dessert or entree+main+dessert but overall a good meal and beer was had by all.
MoreThe brewery had some interesting selections and I found a couple of beers that were to my liking. The food was well presented and was evenly balanced with the flavours from a chef and staff that took pride in there work. Well done.👍A simple and well diverse menue. The wait staff were warm and welcoming and I enjoyed the whole experience.
MoreThis place is fabulous. Off the beaten track, you find yourself in an awesome bar which is really well set out. Besides being able to enjoy a meal, you can taste a selection of beers and a cider for a few dollars that come in a " paddle". They are all great craft brewed, the cider is sweet and full bodied, the beers I tried of note were the Irish Red ale, the India pale ale and the Porter. Not only that, but you can book a cabin and stay for a while. A beer drinkers paradise.
MoreFantastic value, great food, awsome local wine and beer. The service was something rarely seen these days. Great atmosphere, log fires, happy kids.Exceptional all round. Cant recommend enough
MoreWe had a really lovely stay at GBB retreat. The cabins were well appointed, clean and comfy. Great shower and an awesome brekky box filled with fresh and regional goodies. The staff were friendly and helpful. Well definitely be back. Highly recommend.
MoreBest meal weve had in the Granite Belt overall - the beer tasting was awesome, mains were on point and dessert was delicious. Nice timber building with a roaring log fire, friendly staff, and decent prices to boot. The brewery was a little difficult to find since Google Maps directs you to the accommodation instead - youll need to backtrack and look for the physical signpost.
MoreGood beers with a nice country setting. Food was good, but not a fan of the 2 course lunch menu for $30. Would have preferred to just have a burger and a few beers (without the dessert). Couldn’t fault the service and being dog friendly.
MoreWould recommend this place to anyone. After a slightly frosty welcome we dropped our cases in the room and popped into the bar for a quick drink. The barman was very helpful and his knowledge of all the beers was perfect. He first asked what I would normally drink and worked out a tester paddle for me. I soon found the beer I liked and had another. We decided after a long drive to just have our meal at the restaurant. We were warned up front that this was the first night of the menu. By this time we were hungry and decided to be a couple of guinea pigs. We were so glad we did. We opted for a two course and both meals were outstanding. The evening meal standard caused us to eat there for the rest of our stay. While eating our meal Dave asked if we would like the same drinks as earlier. This impressed me that he know already what we liked. By the second day as I walked in he asked The usual? Perfect service from the bartender. On the 3 nights we dined all waiting staff were excellent and explained the food perfectly they were all so very friendly. On the second day I walked out the back of our suite to find two roos fighting. It was just brilliant to watch. I bumped into Dee who was at reception. I asked her if there was any walking and cycling track. She handed me a map and was very helpful in the way she described how to follow the map. She also knew a lot about the forest up the road.It was perfect for runners, walkers and mountain biking. We also noticed that it was used as a horse trail also. All of this made it the perfect location for us. we had a fantastic break walking and biking around the area. On checkout we bumped into Dee again and found her the perfect host. She knows the area like the back of her hand and is very willing to offer it all with a huge smile. We have already been talking about returning with our family. The whole visit was near perfect for me but for a couple of little niggles. The slightly frost arrival. We know this wouldnt have happened if it had be Dee at reception. The (includedcooked breakfast. Not even close to the meals at night.Would in no way put me off returning.
