Its a fantastic place. You can come here for the history and culture of the place as well as to get some goods or souvenirs at good bargain prices. The place has around 4000 shops, and is located over a large area. From my experience, shops that are near the entrance or on the immediate outside, were selling at cheaper rates than the ones deeper inside the bazaar. Always remember, unless the shop strictly says fixed price, there is always room for bargaining. Items such as shoes, leather items, carpets and lighting are usually more bargain heavy, items such as Turkish delights and spices are more of fixed pricing, but some shops allow you to haggle.

Lots to see and to buy. Remember to bargain thats it. Basically they are selling very similar products so just walk around and survey the price before you decide to purchase. Some merchants are very friendly and they do take time to explain about their stuffs, look for those. Enjoy shopping here!

Grand bazaar is the oldest and largest covered market in the world. It’s known to be the oldest mall in the world. It’s an amazing place to visit. There are many amazing handmade and cultural items there. Many great Turkish sweets and delights. One tip to foreign visitors is to avoid eye contact with the sellers. If you make eye contact, they’ll make you buy something. 😁 They are great at convincing you to buy by giving you great discounts. If you have hard time saying no, just keep your eyes on the items.

One of most famous visited places in Istanbul. Yet consider one of the best place to experience locals. This is consider tourist bazaar and one of the tourism places yet full of locals too. With 4000 shops here... You will absolutely can waste your time for more than 3 hours to explore at almost everything. From spices to jewellery, fabrics, souvenirs, restaurants and home decorations all are here. Easy excess by public transportation. Know which gate you are going in from as it could be a bit confusing. Money changer and machine at convenient both outside and inside this place. Most of the shops offered same products but different quality and prices. Try your best bargain technique here to get the best. As this is tourist place and with too many people do extra care of your belonging.

The biggest bazaar in Istanbul, really impressive in terms of size. You will find inside a plethora of shops selling most of the time the same stuff. Salesman will offer you higher prices, so expect to negotiate. Worth the visit but dont do your shopping here. Beware of pickpockets too.

A must- see in Istanbul. Mainly under cover which is a great way to get out of the sun. We visited in early November - not too many tourists but still busy. Everything in offer here - spices, Turkish delight, ceramics, clothes, perfume, jewellery, lights and everything in between.

The grand bazaar is one of the main attractions in Istanbul. It was extremely busy when I visited it on Saturday. So many people that it was hard to walk. To get a better price you have to bargain, which is part of the entertainment and can bring you some fun, but is not my cup of tea. Maybe because I am not good in it.

This is definitely a must to visit grand bazar in Istanbul. The main feature is that the place has not changed its nature since centuries and you can get a feel of what was happening there hundreds of years ago. However, do not expect to buy there something local or special. It is a tourist attraction and not a real market as most of the stuff there is made in China and can be bought online. Even if you find something authentic most probably it can be bought somewhere else and cheaper

If you really want to get something see the crowd on maps and go before it really hits. Because when it does its pretty crazy. Best to know what youre looking for and know where that bazaar is otherwise youre gonna be lost in the streets which also has its own fun.Its a great traditional bazaar with the traditional quirks of an old bazaar, the haggling, the fake stuff and the rush.

this is a must visit place when in Istanbul. good place to shop bags, accessories, souvenirs etc. Its one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world, with 61 covered streets and over 4,000 shops. In 2014, it was listed No.1 among the worlds most-visited tourist attractions. The Grand Bazaar is often regarded as one of the first shopping malls of the world.

Wow what a place... Over 4,000 shops! Its a maze. Easy to get lost. Bring a map or know which entrance you are coming in. There are 21 of them. Spices, purses, teas, scarves, jackets, gold, silver, dishes and so much more. A must see when in Istanbul Turkey.

The whole scale of this bazaar was quite bizarre. But besides the beautiful building there is little good stores for shopping. Too many products and shops looked the same, aggressive sellers every corner, and you are not sure if the stuff you bought is made of high quality. If you want to buy some Turkish products, dont buy them here.

You have to visit Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, 100’s of shops with a lot of amazing stuff. Perfect spot for photos. If you planning to buy something just remember to fight for good price :In every single store prices are much higher then places around Bazaar. For example magnets - 15TL on Grand Bazaar and when you will move 100m from place it costs as well 15TL but for 3 of them :)

You can spend entire day there and enjoy the beauty of grand bazaar. However, I realized the prices are mostly higher than shops outside the garland bazaar. You will find much cheaper goods in the neighboring valleys.

I love this vibrant place. The traders here have family histories attached to this place over centuries. True, much has been adapted to tourist tastes, but the gold and money merchants are still here among the souvenir and knock-off bag sellers. The wonderful, painted halls have been well preserved, and you can turn a corner into secluded courtyards with greenery and quiet cafes. Has to be seen to be believed, although currently strangely quiet as the tourists abandon the city in droves.

Believe the hype. If you’ve never visited this bazaar before, you’re in for a treat. It’s just and experience you must not miss while you’re in Istanbul. All the shops, the colors, the people, how they greet you, how they are negotiating with you…it’s all an experience, believe me.Me and my wife bought a few stuff from there BUT we negotiated A LOT for everything :)You have to, trust me. The prices there are for tourists and it’s an experience by itself to bargain with them :We dropped the prices more than 50-60 % from what they asked, so do the math.If you’re not the type to negotiate, just visit the Grand Bazaar for the experience and buy stuff from the other millions of shops that are all around Istanbul (PS: even there you can negotiate 😀)I loved it and for sure I will visit again.

The worlds first shopping mall. A good experience from start to finish for myself as I got to experience old Istanbul. Make sure to bargain and look around few shops before purchasing as the same stuff could be found much cheaper in the next shop. Only suggestion I could recommend is for toilet facility and for signs to help with direction.

Always a fun spot to visit when in town. Don’t hesitate to negotiate as you will certainly be able to get 20% off most items at a minimum if you try. Vibrant, safe and enigmatic of the hustle and bustle of Istanbul, my recommendation is to pick an entrance and make your way across the Bazaar in your own time (don’t feel rushed or think you need to stop for persistent salesmen). Finally, the spice bazaar is also round the corner (10-15 min walkand definitely worth stopping by for a slightly different ambience.

It is one of the must do things in Istanbul. It has a grandiose feel to it. Its massive and its very busy. You can bargain on anything you chose to buy from here. A good start will be 70% of the asking price. Most shops accept card payments but they offer better price if you pay in cash. There is a money changer inside the Bazaar where you can exchange foreign currency at the going rate. There is a mosque as well.Beware that all the designer stuff is fake including perfumes. The shopkeepers can become very friendly but all they want is a sale.

One of the magnificent structures from history. A must see place in Istanbul. Some quick snack and tea points are available inside. There is an Antique wing where one can find only antique items. The Bazar is full of Turkish made articles. What attracted me more was the structure of the building. This looked like a grand mega mall of today under one roof from 1461.

One of my favourite place to visit in Istanbul. A massive bazaar that has been around for hundreds of year. It is also the largest covered market in the world & thought to be the first mall ever. The Grand Bazaar is somewhat like a maze, so better to take notes on which area you’re in. Many people visit the Grand Bazaar in search of carpets, ceramics, tea, & turkish delights. But what draws me the most is the handmade soaps which is a Turkish speciality. Also love the small tea shops around the bazaar. Also to shop, can bargain in most shops but some shops offer fixed price only.

Great place to go for shopping, they sell a range of things from Gold to prayer mats and Turkish delights or any other Turkish spices and foods. There are a few food places dotted around, the pipe from here was the best one I have had in Istanbul. We were fortunate enough to find someone who carried all of our shopping for us and knew all the best shops to go to for whatever we needed, he even carried all of our shopping to our hotel which was approx a mile away, all for about £8 when converting from Lira, absolute bargain.

Nice to take pictures and to buy some souvenirs like post cards, small purses, keychains to bring as a gift . Also page holders are cheap. However food, clothes, gold, furniture, lamps, teas...are a tourist trap. Turkish people dont buy from here actually!!! Its all made for tourists and the prices are 3/5 times more than outside this bazar. A bit like SIM cards in the airport they all have a high price...but in the city you can find a better deal, that actual Turkish people buy!!!

Nice experience, as I walked like 4 hours , you don’t feel the time cause lots of shops and tiny roads it’s very difficult to see everything in one visit, was using my google maps to get directions, you easily can get lost inside. Be aware lots of scammers , trying to sell you fake goods at expensive prices, you can always ask for lower price. Replica of all kind of dresses, watches , shoes and more. Many shops show in their shops the low quality but when you ask for better quality they can take you to hidden apartments just behind their shops and you will be surprised by what they hide.

In this place you can find everything; clothes, shoes, bags, antique, spices, sweet, etc. You will find the souvenirs to bring home and gifts to your friends. Always great to explore the area. Apparently more then 4000 shops are squeezed under one roof. It did change a lot in last 20 years. Much more sweets and spice shops and less original shops selling authentic Turkish products. But still nice to walk around feeling the wibe of trading.Stile very safe and clean and lovely to see that a lot of roof painting refurbishment has been done.

Great, busy market place, what a beautiful space! I love the marble floors, and the hilly indoors, and the way the drains run to take away the filth back in ancient times. What a well thought out covered market. Loads of shops and stores and super organized. Silver alleys and gold lanes, childrens clothes and shoes, mens attire, luggage, and spices and pots and pans and those gorgeous teacups sets and so much more. Love it!Con: many doors to enter and exit, many alley ways and one can get turned about quite easily and end up exiting to place not on the map:-Be diligent with your locations.

Found the Grand Bazaar to be very unique and large, lots and lots of stuff, we bought a couple of things. Prices are high compared to other bazaars that we have visited throughout Turkey. But if you only visit Istanbul and have a minimum amount of time your choses are limited. Worth visiting just be aware of the cost and haggle as there is always room to move on the price. Anyone who comes here needs to have good bargaining skills. That’s the fun part of shopping here. But overall there are things here you can’t buy anywhere else. We walked through and bought so many things like prayer rugs and souvenirs. They also have spices and juice shops you can get fresh juice at. Watch them juice a whole pomegranate and enjoy the freshness of the juice. You can’t find this anywhere else. I took my mom here and she loved every minute of it. She will be back, probably just to come back to the bazaar.

The bazaar is one of Istanbul’s most iconic landmarks. Dating back to the 15th century, it’s a maze of over 4,000 shops and stalls selling everything from traditional Turkish handicrafts to the latest fashions. You can find almost anything under the sun in the Grand Bazaar — from the finest silk to the biggest selection of traditional Turkish shoes. It’s also home to some of the best small shops in town, where you can discover unique Turkish treasures.Istanbul is one of the greatest cities in the world, and the Grand Bazaar is the best place to get a sense of the citys exotic past. Stretching for blocks, the bazaar is a maze of shops, each one offering a unique selection of merchandise. You can find almost anything in the bazaar, from traditional Turkish handicrafts to the latest fashions straight off the catwalk. And because its such a labyrinth, the bazaar also offers a fascinating glimpse into how people shopped in the past.

Popular turistic point and definitely must see location when visiting Istanbul! Be prepared, the place is crowded and loud, but also alive and colorful!Turkish sellers are the best, and youll learn more about it here! Theyll be calling you inside and theyll try to make a deal about the products in every way (theres no chance youll exit their shop without buying). Dont be shy to haggle about the price, because otherwise, you exit the shop with the product youll definitely find somewhere else much cheaper!

This place is great to buy souvenirs but be mindful of how crowded it may be. So many stores offer the same and youll have to show off your best negotiation skills to get the best deals. I recommend looking for the same product on different stores and comparing prices. Some of the salespeople are very polite and relaxed but some others will jump over you if they see you pointing towards some item with your finger. The main aisle (date of review: March 2022was under reparation and made it a little less comfortable to walk around. Buy souvenirs here, but watch out with the carpets, they dont necessarily offer the best prices in Istambul.

Be prepared to bargain loudly when visiting! This is the best place to buy high-quality Turkish crafts and products without leaving the heart of Istanbul. Prices are certainly higher than in other stores in the area, and salespeople speak in a lot of languages. You should not hesitate to ask for a LARGE discount if youre buying several products from the same vendor.

Been here a couple of times. The place is looking magical and you can find a lot of interesting stuff here to buy. Absolutely incredible experience walking around this massive Bazaar and seeing all what Istanbul has to offer. There too so many Turkish delight stores to count so youll never leave without at least tasting one of these treats! Highly recommend the store #78 for delights. I cant remember the name of it unfortunately but they sold us a kilogram of Turkish delights for 150 lira and they also treated us to some tea while we taste tested the different delights. There are also several stores with beautiful ceramic works of art, magnets, coasters bowls, etc. There were also SEVERAL shops with high end "name brand" clothes. A must visit tourist destination. Very vibrant, busy and colourful. The bazaar has existed for hundreds of years serving locals, but in its current form is for simply to lure tourists. Prices are significantly over inflated, but can still negotiate- but I would spend my money elsewhere. Great for pictures and usual touristy trinkets.
