2 Strutton Ground, Westminster, London SW1P 2HP, Victoria
Classic pub with a dark-wood interior and an upstairs room that played host to The Goons.
The food and service was fantastic! Compliments to the chef and the staff!! We had such a pleasant experience! Cheers
It couldnt be better. The big fish and chips are great.
Me and my best friend and her daughter and granddaughter visited here on Tuesday the 13th September 2022, For just a quick sandwich and a drink and to use there toilet facilities. We waited for 45 minutes for our sandwiches to arrive at the table we was in a rush to catch a train we wasnt impressed but we were all offered free large drinks of our choice which they gave us. They did apologise but come on does it take 45 minutes to make a toasted sandwich?Unfortunately we will not be visiting here again plus its very dark inside and a few dodgy customers and the WiFi only works right at the front of the pub
Standard Greene King experience. But pleasantly quieter than elsewhere. Nice staff behind the bar. Unremarkable I suppose! Somehow havent been here before despite working in the area for 12 years. Bit pricy, mind.
Fantastic find on our wander around Greenwich. Wonderful food and service.
Nice pub just of Victoria Street, enjoyed the evening here and will definitely be returning 👍
Unfortunately we wont visit here again, we moved a chair to sit down and got verbally abused by a "regular" we put chair back but he continued to keep his rant going even doing the same to another couple who tried to sit down. Not happy to let it drop he kept going on constantly swearing at us, we left our drinks and left the pub , a very awful experience
Excellent fish and chips! Centrally located near tourist attractions but a bit off the beaten path
Been to this lovely pub with friends a few times. Lovely ambience, great food & service.Definitely coming back again
Super tasty Huge portion of fish and chips, lively atmosphere - ordered everything at the bar
Busy local pub to watch football. Helpful staff and good food.
Solid pub. Both locals and tourists come here. Food is alright.
Very tasty Fish n Chips and a very frendly bartender
The pub has a great atmosphere and very friendly, hard working staff, even during peak hours you dont have to wait for drinks for long. Food is also great, fish and chips were bang on and same with the burgers and nachos. Defo recommend getting nachos as a starter.
Fab, fab, fab. The food is great, but who could guess what delicious food will be on the menu and the real ales are always a delight.
An old fashioned boozer in the somewhat legendaty Strutton Ground. Great staff, great alcohol, friendly surroundings
Very good service and delicious food. We ordered the steak and ale pie. I couldn’t finish it because there was so much food on the plate no room for dessert.
Don’t forget to buy another drink when you’re done in here (the washroom). Very much true because you do want to stick around and keep the beers flowing and the conversations rolling because this pub has everything you could ask for from a pub. Shame we only stopped for a bite and a quick drink (and a phone charge I may add).
A lovely little find which hubby loved the history of as he loved the goons
I love this pub, the beers are good and the staff are very friendly..
Their wings with piri piri sauce are the best!!?
Stuff is great, fish and chips the best in London!!! But toilets could be cleaner...
Visited while staying at a Hub hotel which was about a 5 minute walk away. There was an assortment of regulars that were sipping their pints and watching football news, as well as couples and a family. So it caters to everyone. The food was good and the bartender was nice enough to recommend the 2 for 1 beer special (I dont think I have ever run into a 2 for 1 special in the States). Needless to say, we took advantage of that a couple of times. Worth a visit if you are nearby.
Very very very very very long wait time! The dish was served in some cracked bowls..3 stars for the location.. otherwise not even a single line deserves!
One of our favorite pubs in the neighborhood. Good food and great service!Looking forward to when they open again.5 months later: apparently a number of changes, finally offering food again, appears to be a full turnover of staff. Just visited again and disappointed to find that it is now indistinguishable from other pubs in this chain. Too bad. It’s “fine” but nothing special.
Lovely place, friendly staff, great atmosphere. Food was wonderful.
Initially I first visited, 2017/18 as I read my favourite actor Kenneth More used to but then you get here and theres the Goon Show.Presently, nice and quiet (maybe I kill the mood!). Staff are friendly. Reachable from St James Park tube.
Nice little pub with good service.
Nice local. Friendly staff, good selection of beers and wines. Good place to visit now the former landlord has gone.
Friendly staff. Good pours. Plenty of seating. Nice pub.
Ive not been in here for sometime, but as soon as I walked in, the bar staff gave me a warm welcome and knew my drink, thats the sign of a good well run pub.Update: Ive been in a few more times and its so nice and warm, and the staff are really lovely people, 5 stars everytime..UPDATE:ooh dear, change of management, all the fantastic staff have gone, no idea what is next but I have a feeling that they are changing it into a gastro pub, fancy named beers and no atmosphere. Shame..
Great place and drinks. Staff super attentive funny and quick service. Definitely coming back 👌
This is a small, traditional English pub. Every time I come to London , I will come to visit this place l. Food is always lovely and service excellent! The bar staff are super friendly and very professional- they really make you to come back to this place. They really take a good care of the customers. Thank to Karolina I met lovely friends in that pub. All the members of the team are very kind but Karolina is just the best- you can tell she cares a lot of everyone there. Thank you for being kind and helpful .
Peaceful tiny pub near Christchurch Gardens near Victoria. Nice ancient ambience. Fair selection of tipples. Nice for a quick rest and a refreshing drink.
After a visit to Westminster Abbey, Strutton Ground seemed like a good place to find lunch and the first place we stopped at was this pub. NIce atmosphere, friendly bar staff/waitrss with a combination of open tables and small nooks for food and drink. Food was freshly cooked - my chicken was nice and moist, my wifes fish very good. The "Lunch Club" menu of main dish, side (salad or chips etcplus a drink for under £10 was reasonable value.
Lovely pub! Very welcoming, friendly, helpful staff, good range of beers and live sport. Food was very good, highly recommend the steak scewer with Merlot gravy!!Will definitely be back.
I recall this pub every time I think about my trip to London. Best place with best food and people. I struggled to find out this place on Google maps because I forgot the name. But with huge determination and after searching area with looking at the photos of other pubs luckily I found it. Ill come back as soon as I visit England.
Green King IPA flipping lovely!!! The barmaids were lovely and friendly too! Ordered a Chicken Platter, brill! Chips skinny ones which I dont normally like but they were lovely and crispy! Had a pint of Progress! Not bad, but no where near as nice as the IPA! Some nice memorabilia around the place. The only thing missing...the Ying Tong Song playing in the background!!! What time is it Eccles?
Enjoyed a day being able to watch the lions, then after a bit of food we stayed to watch the boxing. Great service, will be back soon!!
Amazing service. Sarah Steve and Michelle looked after us as we was on a stag do. Friendly staff who actually gave us a jäger mister bottle on the house at the end and wrote a card for the stag. Would definitely recommend. Nice warming friendly pub.
Great afternoon! We came for a quick leaving drink and we made feel welcome. Lovely pub on the side of Strutton Ground. Friendly team and very clean and Covid safe. Thank you Dave
Nice, warm pub. Had the best pulled pork nachos ever. Will be visiting again.
Nice place. Decent burger and good beer. The serving was top notch
Reasonably spacious pub with various books and crannies. Good range of real ale from the Greene King stable. Nice selection of food, our party was taken by the lunchtime special of open sandwich a sundry and a drink for £7.99.
Barman has a terrible attitude! My friend and I ordered a meal each and a bottle of wine between us. She went to the bar, after the meal, while we still had half a bottle of wine left to get us some tap water. The barman had a real attitude about the fact we were only ordering water despite my friend explaining that we have ordered two meals and a bottle of wine aleady, he seemed against the fact we were ordering water! He even suggested that she was lying about us having wine. Check out the photo. We had bought wine and food!
Great authentic dishes. Order everything from bar
Great pub. Great food and service. We had vegetarian sausage dinner which was excellent, along with great fish and chips, and steak pie. Nice atmosphere. Great place.
Im not sure if we came on an off day or if it was something out of their control, but the place smelled awful. I mean really awful. We ended up just ordering beers and leaving. I couldnt eat due to the smell. The bartender that opened was very rude and acted as if he would rather not be there. The interior was what I would expect from a classic English pub, dark, loads of stools and tables with some leather chairs and plush fabric chairs.
Rude waitresses who doesnt serve tables, so pub without service, but nice food and lowe prices ...
Very cosy place, with cubby holes for you and your mates. Good atmosphere, and a good selection of beers and ciders.
