Gozitan Restaurant - Maltese restaurant in Qormi, Malta
I love the food here. The fish cake for starters were yummy and so was the octopus in garlic as main course. All very tasty. The baked potatoes and baked vegetables as sides were moreish as well.
My wife and I just had a wonderful dinner at that restaurant as we wanted to experience local Maltese cuisine. Needless to say, the dinner was superb, very tasty with excellent service in a very nice ambiance. Highly recommanded !
Went to try out the Maltese food for the very first time. I could not compare taste and all (It’s my first timebut what I could say is that was very good.
The fish was superb, seasoned just right. Wife’s mash potatoes were all texture no flavor though. Our waitress seemed a bit cold, as though we were bothering her. But maybe I’m just used to the assumed familiarity and warmth of the mom and pop restaurants with Maltese staff.Definitely worth a visit for traditional Maltese food in area, especially if you’re visiting.
Traditional Maltise food, above expectations and good value too. A must if you are visiting the area.
Absolutely brilliant place to sample traditional maltese food (I imagine, Im not an expert on what counts as traditional maltese food).Regardless, the staff were lovely and the wine list extensive. Other local restaurants should take note. The meals themselves were outstanding in quality and generous, and they gave us a dessert on the house. Exceptional.
Excellent food- octopus with garlic. Very friendly staff! Fantastic desert! It’s must visit place!
Nice local restaurant. We had the fish soup, the rabbit and horse meat. The vibe was of local nothing fancy. The service was good. The food was looking good taste was good, the horse meat is quite heavy but very tasty I would recommend for some that eats a lot. The rabbit was tasty. We had a local red wine which was surprisingly good, highly recommended.
Our dinner at Gozitan was amazing. We had fresh fish with vegetables and potatoes - everything was so delicious. On top of that we got a Maltese starter as well as dessert on the house, what was also very tasty. The staff was super friendly - I can highly recommend this place for dinner!
Excellent! From the service, the food and everything in between. If youre in Malta, you should really check this one out!
Very Nice restaurant, good menu. I am recommending take menu which is last on menu book. For 35 euro you will get all starters and choose one main from the list, after that you will get dessert. All food is national and very tasty. Nice service, Maltese wine very good. Enjoy your time there. Bon appetit
Food was delicious and the service was on point. At the time I visited they didnt offer cocktails but had good wine and it was relatively well priced. Seating for 8 was available as soon I got to the restaurant. Their desert was tasty. I would recommend.
Traditional maltese food were served.Free appetizers were very good. Fish soup is not recommended because it’s expensive but fish soup was almost similar to canned tuna with vegetable.. Don’t try it. Fan fried rabbit was soso and deserve to try in Malta.
Super nice serviceI had excellent fish soup, stake and some sea foodEverything was super fresh and tastyFor me its the best restaurant in malta so far.
Service was friendly, and some of the staff are friendly - the food was fine, nothing exciting or exceptional.I was tempted by the offering of traditional Maltese food but I found the produce here quite average. The staff member that delivered the food also just plonked it down without explaining what was on the Maltese platter (it had a tuna dip, a bean dip, cheeses, tomatoes and olives - it wouldve been good to know that it was fish for allergies). The platter was fine - not the best example of a Maltese platter Ive had on the island. The texture of the octopus we were served wasfloury, and didnt taste very fresh.Another staff member offered us a complimentary dessert, which I thought was very nice of them.
The food is really good, perfect rabbit stew and mussels (no wet tissue nor the water to clean the fingers. Loved the amouse bouche. Good Maltese wine. Service a little slow but friendly . Would go back
Amazing. Everything was great. I orderer the fresh lamb, it was the best thing I’ve eaten in Malta. The desert (free of chargewas awesome. Highly recomended.
Great place to eat maltease typical food. The attention of the staff was more than excellent. I really recommend the place and the beef olives dish.
The food is typical, very tasty, the manager is very friendly. We highly recommand you the fish of the day, also the calamar with olives and tomatoes. The dessert was excellent as well.
We came all the way from Australia on our honeymoon to try traditional Maltese food. And we were not disappointed! The service was great and the food was exceptional. We would come back to Malta just to eat at this restaurant
Originally we were headed to the restaurant across the street, but when my wife saw the very traditional side terrace, she insisted to eat there. Certainly didnt regret it. Besides the super-friendly staff (we got Rashib -I hope I spelled correctly - he is such a gentleman and kind personthe food was extraordinary.1st time we tried the octopus stew and the fresh lamb, with baked potatoes (the chips/fries are frozenThe lamb was utterly delicious, super tender. The octopus as well, my wife loved it.2nd time we tried the fish soup, my wife loved it that much, she didnt left one bite for me to taste it, and I asked for the rabbit stew. First time I ate rabbit, so Im not an expert, but it was a very delicate, nicely seasoned, interesting experience.Dont make the mistake I did, to not ask for the traditional, homemade desert they have... Heaven on Earth... individually some random stuff, but combined together in a single bite. the pastry-like cookie, ice cream and halva...Holy mother of Jesus! Orgasm to your taste buds. All in all, too bad we discovered Gozitan only in the second half of our holiday. We will surely miss this place!
Everything was fantastic! Wish I could rate them more stars. Ordered goats cheese ravioli & spaghetti rabbit sauce to start and had pan fried rabbit & beef olive for main - it was all sooo good 9/10. Fairly priced and staff were very friendly. If you wanna try some good Maltese food, this is your best bet. Also the complementary dessert was the cherry on top!!!!
Great place to try Maltese food! Authentic, home cooked dishes. We had the lamb, quail, rabbit stew, and rabbit liver. All were delicious, especially the liver which is similar to chicken liver. The lamb and rabbit stew were tender. The rabbit and quail taste like chicken.A bottle of Maltese wine is only ~20 euros. Hella refreshing with your meal. I recommend one of the white wines. Our server was nice and attentive. Highly recommend!
The calamari stew was really good and well seasoned, they also gave us some free appetizers. The vibe is very local yet the staff is professional, we were able to taste some Maltese flavours in a nice location.
We found the restaurant “Gozitan” by chance on a walk around the streets of our hotel. And this place was the highlight on our culinary tour of Malta. The food was unbelievably delicious and fairly priced and the staff was really courteous and competent! We never experienced this kindness and helpfullness before. Our delicious plates and the attentive and friendly staff made it an extremely memorable event to us. We can highly recommended it if you want to try out local food.Jamuna and Roby, Luxembourg
Very good traditional maltese food with generous portion. Rabbit stew was a 10/10. Service was very attentive and fast (without feeling rushed). The complimentary dessert at the end made our evening. Would highly recommend!
Good restaurant, with a good menù from local recipes to classic fish and meat dishes. We spent something like 30€ each including a bottle of wine. Dessert was offered :)
Unfortunately didn’t have the best experience. The food was very average, the meal was delayed by quite a bit and the service wasn’t attentive. We asked for a vase for a bouquet and it was never brought to us. Other reviews state that it is a lovely place, so feels like we visited it on a bad night.
Contrary to what I expected, Gozitan has a pretty affordable menu . Staff attitude was really good. The food portions were large and the food was delicious. In addition, they were not at all stingy about smiles and treats :)I deffinetly recommend this place to everyone.
We got exactly what we were looking for and a lot more! - for a very fair price for a fish of the day and an absolutely delicious octopus stew, they brought us a plate of traditional starters and after the dinner a dessert on house (well, or included in the pricewhich we had no room for but as it was so tasty we finished it all. Highly recommended!
Nice spaghetti and beef olives. For me he sauces were had a bit too much tomato paste. The dessert was lovely too with date tarts, fig ice cream and the Maltese traditional Turkish sweet.
Food was excellent. The best fenek on island. Nice accent is something sweet at finish
Stayed in St Julians for 3 days and had all my dinners here. Authentic local food and extremely helpful staff. They also offer complimentary dessert.
Too bad I cant give more stars than 5. This was by far the best place to eat while I was visiting Malta. The staff are super friendly and give good recommendations when unsure what to order. Service was impeccable. The food itself was hearty and tasty. Portions are very decent that you definitely wont leave hungry.Prices are very reasonable for what experience you are getting.I was shocked that it was difficult to find traditional Maltese food restaurants in Malta. This restaurant was a breath of fresh air.
A great place to local cuisine. We loved the food we ate ribeye steak and calamari stew. It was very tasty
Food was good and service was also good. Dessert was awesome - its a traditional maltese dessert called Imqaret which is a pastry with a filling of dates. :)
The real Maltese dishes, everything was great , we could not finish our meal because the portions are huge and delicious 😋😋😋
amazing local food. every time we come holiday in malta we loved eat this restaurant. this restaurant is out of this world. fantastic staff.
I was actually on the way to another restaurant, but the mix of music and laughter and voices coming out of this place caught my attention. As a previous girlfriend of mine always said: never go into an empty place, no matter it’s reviews. This place was the opposite. So in I went. I had no idea what to expect from Maltese food, but the reviews rave about the garlic octopus. Combined with amazing baked potatoes, a nice glass of wine and a big loaf of white bread, it was a perfect meal to welcome me in Malta.
A great place to try local Maltese cuisine. As soon as we entered, we loved the interior and atmosphere and were never disappointed. The food was delicious - I recommend the antipasti starter. Desert and coffee on the house was just the cherry on top.
Great dinner experience! We had the antipasti plate as a starter and the fried rabbit (amazing!!and rabbit stew as mains. Delicious! The staff was very friendly and helpful, we could not recommend this place more for a traditional Maltese experience.
We had the homemade Ravioli and smoked fish salad for starters and the spaghetti with rabbit sauce and the rabbit stew for the main dish. It was tasty and authentic, as rabbit is what the locals eat here and the grandmother of the house is still doing some work in the kitchen. They have a nice wine menu and they recommended a nice local white wine.
The food here is very tasty: spaghetti with rabbit sauce was perfect, so were the homemade ravioli. Pan-fried rabbit was also very nice, same with the octopus in garlic. However, the waiting time for starters, main course was crazy. We got offered a dessert on the house while waiting for the bill (fried dates pie with ice cream). Food is great, just be prepared to spend more time than planned there (which in the end is worth it).
Delicious authentic Maltese food ! We ordered the rabbit spaghetti and octopus cooked in garlic and they were both delicious. Wasnt sure what to expect at first but was not disappointed. I recommend booking a table through the website as I witnessed this place go from empty to very busy in less than 30 mins. Servers are very courteous and they offered us a small plate of Maltese Tapas which was exceptional 👌
I can only review based on my experience and the menu I had. I had rabbit stew for the first time ever in my life. So I have no comparison to say it was tasty or not. Personally I wouldn’t give 5 stars, but worthy to try, meaning it didn’t smell strong, texture was quite tender, and marinated properly. The baguette before main dish was very hard.. it would’ve been nicer if it was softer so that I could have it with the rabbit stew. But the butter for the baguette was flavorful. I liked it.The staffs were nice, I didn’t find anything dirty or untidy, Visa card accepted, food was made not in long time, recommend to visit when not busy (before 6-7pm), the neighborhood is definitely not in good mood and vibes (if you expect water view, find other restaurants), interior is like old European style, homey which I felt very comfy. A.k.a grandmas home
We came here to try authentic local food, and we were not disappointed! The antipasti were great (especially the goat cheese), everything was very fresh and tasty. Both the lamb and the rabbit were tender and full of flavour, I recommend the baked potatoes as a side. But what we enjoyed the most was the dessert, with fried dates and fig ice cream! Delicious! Also, very nice service, the waiter was very knowledgeable about the dishes, and kind. Recommended!
Lovely atmosphere inside the restaurant. The staff was really friendly and the food was great. I let the pictures express themselves.
The most excellent place to have your dinner! We visited Gozitan last night. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered robot liver for started and pan-fried rabbit for main.Fantastic service and very fair prices!
We had the set menu which was a Maltese feast. Make sure you are really hungry as it is A LOT of food. You get 4 starters which are the normal sized starters, not sample menu size. Its a lot. That was a great way to discover traditional Maltese cuisine. I would recommend the rabbit stew. Staff was friendly, prices are very good value for the amount of food.
Good traditional Maltese food. Good service. Good price.Generous portions. I would be full with 30% less!Rabbit Liver was a little dry but tasty. Octopus was good.My other half had fish cakes which were good and the quail in balsamic vinegar and honey which very good.I recommend this place.
