Calle Espoz y Mina, 23, 50003 Zaragoza, Spain, Utebo
Renaissance mansion housing paintings & prints by Francisco de Goya, plus other Spanish artists.
It’s been a great experience. The museum has a logical chronology so you can admire not only Goya’s masterpieces but also works of painters from before and after the Maestro.
The museum is located in the old city of Zaragoza. Everything in walking distance. The museum has truly beautiful art by Goya and pre and post his era. Striking to me were his sketches that were very dark compared to his classic style.
O was hoping for more Goya.
Good for those who are knowledgeable about art and its history.
To be honest, I was expecting many more paintings of the main protagonist of the museum. No audio guides in Italian. The price for the ticket (6€seems frankly too much for this museum, even if it is worth a visit if you are interested in art and history
Cosy, but pretty cool and shows not only Goyas works, but also his peers and shows things in a context. Paintings, sculptures, graphics, something for everyone!
Goyas best paintings are in other museums.
Great collection of paintings and prints.
Wow, we went to the Goya Museum and it was great. Have a much better appreciation and understanding of Goya now. No photos allowed inside. If you pass this way I would recommend you stop in.Also has paintings from contemporaries and students.
Nice museum, well worth visiting. Big collection. Lots of Goya and others. Missing from this and the Zaragoza Museum is any depiction of Goyas Black Paintings. I have only seen those in the Prado, though they are among his best-known. However, they do have a complete set of Los Caprichos.
This place is the bees knees for Goya fans!Great bathroom too¡
A must for every Goya lover. Most of his drawings, including Capriccios, are there
It was a great experience using the QR code and getting all the information on the art inside. At the -1 level you can see a short movie about Goya with a schedule for different languages. The collection of Goyas etchings is much greater in numbers than the paintings.
Great permanent collection including an incredible number of small prints. Impressive El Greco exhibition too.
We visited Zaragoza over the weekend and had this in out itinerary. I highly enjoyed Goya’s collection of Los Caprichos.
Nice experience. Theres a QR code you can scan when you go in, this gives you all the info about different sections of the gallery in your language. But I wasnt impressed when a French couple walked around playing the information so that the whole world could hear it! If Id done that in English, my partner in Spanish and them in French it wouldve been a nightmare!! The security guard on the 2nd floor should have asked them to turn it off!
In comparison to the other museums, it’s a bit expensive. It is interesting to visit though, especially the cartoons/drawings.
A really nice museum with detailed audio. Worth the time and entrance is cheap
Very interesting museum, really nice atmosphere!
This is an important museum. It has the first section dedicated to the main art developments before Goya, to put Goyas work into context, and then a section of paintings by Goya himself. It is clear from the artwork that here is a master - both in detail, in technique and in the earliest forms of expressionism with broad brush strokes and a brilliant use of light and shade to accentuate feelings. It must be said that the museum clearly does not have the most impressive paintings of Goya. The highlight for me is that collection of drawings and sketches by Goya which are not only brilliant in their technique but also on their commentary of the times. Goya was a brilliant and sharp observer of life, and his drawings are well explained and superbly interesting. The use of QR codes make this an easy museum to enjoy. For 6 euro, this is a bargain. It helps you to understand not only Goya, his time, art and the Napoleonic times, but also Zaragoza itself. I thoroughly recommend it!!
An amazing collection of Goya paintings and prints. Modern, bright place, well organised art masterpieces regarding historical periods.Unfortunately paintings cant be photographed one by one.
Impressive collection of Goya paintings with special guest traveling contemporary expos in a modern space of spacey and witty architecture reminiscent of XVII century Spanish architecture. A whole wing is dedicated to a vast collection of Goya’s least known yet very meaningful ink drawings that give a good glimpse of what times were like during old day Spain. Great service from part of the staff.
It’s ok, but unfortunately a lot of Goya’s iconic works are absent
Very informative and spacious, a good place to relax and to learn about the local art movement and historical artists. I personally liked the gallery on the top floor.
A museum dedicated to the Spanish Romantic Artist Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes, of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
Worth seeing if visiting Zaragoza. There are about a dozen paintings of Goya’s, his best work is in el Prado.
Excellent museum, excellent audio guide, but Goyas greatest works are in the Prado.
If you want to learn something about Goya other than from a book visit the museum and enjoy some of his works and many of the etchings he did. There is much more besides and it will give you an understanding of the conflict between Spain and the Emperor Napoleon
The Goya museum costs 6 euro to enter and your enjoyment will be highly linked to how much you like classical art.
Definitely a museum to visit in Zaragoza. Loved the "grabados", especially those with war scenes, the closest similarity to a modern war photographer.
Very nice museum if you like art. It has got 3 floors. One with Pre era Goya paintings, one with Goya’s paintings & prints and another one with post Goya paintings. There’s also an exhibition of Lita Cabellut on the ground floor at the moment. Worth visiting it.
Nicely laid out and well documented. Excellent collection of Goya prints. Good Goya context but his works are elsewhere really. Cant hide the large amount of average non-Goya work.
Nice place to visit but only if you appreciate art else dont waste your time. Backpacks not allowed. They will give u free locker to store it.Start from 3rd floor and walk your way down.
Una maravilla! Inolvidable! Dont miss it while in Zaragossa or Aragon. Like a time travel! Right now you can see works of marvelous Spanish painter Lita Cabellut too.
A MUST. Well explained (in Spanishand good collection, easy to understand and pick up the meaning of Goyas work. Cloakroom and toilets which are a plus in this city.
We were on a University trip, we could not miss out this museum! It is well structured with clear directions and descriptions (even in English). Goyas work are amazing, worth a see!
Not my favourite museum, its very "silent and static" if it makes sense. There is a room full of small satirical drawings which is very interesting.
Small museum, perhaps only would appeal to Goya fans. Did have a good collection of Goyas etchings but very few paintings by him
You wont see much of Goyas own artwork here (you gotta visit Museo del Prado for that), but still worth a visit.
I was hoping for more Goya in Goya museum, but worth visiting anyway. Modest collection of originals, decent collection of prints.
The best museum I have ever visited. Information regarding the exhibits written very clearly on every floor. A must.
Great exhibit. If you like Goya a mast see otherwise an interesting discovery of facts, values, culture.
Beautiful museum to wander around if you are interested in Goya. Other 2 in our group were. Ask for audio guide. It wasnt offered to us and we found out afterwards it was available. If you do the 2 euro city tour first you get a discount here. Didnt know that either! Do it in that order.
Interesting place to visit! Exhibition on 3 floors. Important collection of Goyas drawings. The entrance ticket is also valid to visit Goya native house and museum in Fuentetodos
A very interesting museum. I liked the wide range of works from before Goya, his work, and then works by painters who were influenced by him. The Goya sketches seem modern given the current trend for surrealistic films. He was unique.
It was nice, but thought that they were more of Goya more famous art. Good price to get in , only 6 Euros
For a place called the "Goya Museum" it doesnt have that many Goyas. The best part is the collection of his prints, although the presentation of the prints is not ideal. The overwhelming majority of the collection is other artists whose main connection to Goya is usually that they are Aragonese. It is a fine collection but the name is false advertising.
So this is an excellent little gallery of art, mostly focused on Goya, but theres some good exhibits about what came before and after him too. The best part, though, is the selection of prints he made. I never knew about this side of Goya-I always associated him with the oil paintings he did so well. But these prints were incredible-he had a whole series on the Peninsula War and on bull-fighting. The bull-fighting ones especially were fascinating. His ability to capture movement and body-language is amazing.A note about parking-Google Maps will tell you that you can drive right up to it, and, while thats legally and technically possible, I wouldnt recommend it. Theres a parking lot underneath the nearby plaza, so Id recommend as soon as you see the turn-off for the parking deck, go ahead and take it.
I had no clue about this guy before, but I looked at his paintings and pictures and I was totally amazed. I would say he definitely put life in his drawings. Worth visiting if you have time in Zaragoza.
Great museum - the English audio guide was very helpful. I particularly enjoyed Goyas drawings, which reflect a tragically violent period of Spanish / French history with eye whitness accuracy.
