As a government museum and second old museum in India, I was looking for something more inspiring. There are only the names of those artifacts being shown. How can children know what exactly those are. 😞😞

#ChennaiMuseumA great place to hangout and witness some of the amazing art forms, fossils and sculptures. Skeletons of all the mammals and animals - aquatic, terrestrial as well as aerial - were worth watching. The pre historic sculptures were distorted over time still gave a glimpse our past and our culture.Scriptures of Hinduism , Buddhism, Jainism is also available in the museum. The charm of the museum is the one and only Tyrannosaurus. A must visit for everyone if you are visiting Chennai. The skeleton of Blue whale and elephants will surely make you awestruck.

The madras museum (Government Museum Chennai), known around the world as on one of the oldest museums in the world, is Chennais must go places. Its collections are vast, but their exhibits are below par. There are lots of scope for improvement, but I dont mean to discredit what already exist. While you walk through the museum also keep an eye up for those beautiful stained-glass windows that are rare to find these days.

Very very reasonable entrance ticket at 15 rupees for adults. Quite extensive museum with lots and lots displays. But very hot and sweaty inside the museum not even the fans were switched on, they can increase the ticket price and maintain the place even more properly. Having said that really impressed with the size of the museum and you really need atleast 3-4 hrs to see all the displays properly.

I am from West Bengal. I am coming for Apollo hospital chennai. This place is very good for visit. The Government Museum in Egmore is the second oldest museum in the country and has some of the coolest sights you can see. All for the price of INR 15!  Here are the top five things youve got to check out there. The life-size, animatronic Tyrannosaurus Rex exhibit. Located in the natural history section, the head of the T-Rex moves from side to side and looks surprisingly life-like.Located inside the Government Museum complex, we also found the Connemara Library, one of the oldest libraries in the country. Started in 1890, this library has over 599,999 books for you to check out including centuries-old publications and ancients texts. The Government Museum also has a Children’s Museum thats filled with colourful visual exhibits of animal history, Indian history, scientific advancement, and other general knowledge that we’ve all come to pass as commonly known. We remember having fond memories of being taken here as a child. Theres also the Natural History Museum displaying a vast collection of animal exhibits from across the globe along with placards that give you details about the species. You will definitely feel like you are on a Nat Geo site. You also have The Museum Theatre to check out. A technological marvel as well as a hub for the city’s theatre groups, The Museum Theatre can accommodate about 600 people and comes with impressive acoustics and air conditioning. That and the beautiful trees here. While not officially on the museums list of attractions, Government Museum is known for its magnificent neem, tamarind, mango and banyan trees that offer plenty of shade and a space to relax under. Theres also a sculpture garden with appealing, intricately drawn stone structures. So, when are you going?

Its a precious jewel in South India which consists the massive collection of entire south Indian architectural sculptures. Ancient stone, bronze images of Gods and Goddesses were erected on a permanent display. The Museum is under renovation right now. Some of the sculptures collects dust and lime flakes falling from walls. Wet wall have to be taken care. The museum also shows the Childrens, Anthropological, Zoological, setup. Here is an art museum too showing south Indian contemporary art. Nice to see the security gaurding National treasure. Heretofore the museum should not stop its growth and to expand more in nere Future. The museum also publish jurnils and books on Art, culture and Heritage of India.

A truly must visit spot. Being a Chennaiite, wasn’t sure what value add a museum would be to me but this place left me speechless. The entry fee is INR 15 and that covers most exhibits not to mention a few open air ones. The sculptures and carvings are simply brilliant. I didn’t have much time to explore as much as I’d like to but you can easily spend a day here and not know the time pass. Four wheeler and two wheeler parking available. Photography isn’t allowed for most of the closed exhibits.

Museum is in large area and can take half of the day if gone through each area leisurely although when I went some part of the museum was closed for renovation so couldnt got chance to explore. Ticket price is 15/- per person. Parking place is not having any fine which is one of the good point. Its a must visit place once you are in chennai especially for kids as they will get so much information about southern dynasty and their history. There are archeological artifacts and sculpture of different southern ruler period.Well adults also find it intresting as place and associated videos Convey detail about respective area.Geological section is quite a intresting place and one can see different species of animals and birds in it. Astonishing fact about this museum is most of the animals and birds displayed here are real one those are preserved and placed. As I have confirmed this with one of the staff and even once you visit can feel same while observing these animals and birds. Elephant and whale huge skeleton bones amaze us as how small we are in size. Upstairs there is sea creature section with all wide varieties of aquatic animals and corals details. Also dont miss to see robotic dinosaur which they play time to time might be hourly for 5 mins which was really good. Also one thing which I noticed in this place is they have automatic chairs for physically challenged and elder people to avoid stairs which is something unique thing I have seen in museum.Outside garden is also get used for exhibition so one can go there if interested.

Worth visit at Chennai. Its basically archeological and exhibits mostly relate to that. Sadly many of the halls were closed, may be due to the pandemic. One or two halls / rooms are very dimly lit and the exhibits were poorly visible. No area about plants or animals could be seen. The Childrens museum is very poorly maintained, especially the Science park. Overall maintenance is mediocre. Anyways, good for a days trip to know about history and view the artifacts.

This is a museum where you can find a lot of artworks, paintings, libraries, cultural heritage moments, etc but unfortunately, they didnt take proper care of it. In some places light is not properly working, some boxes have no objects, some places have cleanliness issues, etc. If the management can take proper care of it then its one of the best places to visit. The ticket charges are Rs 15/- for 1 adult. Make sure you are double vaccinated as they allow only vaccinated people to enter museum.

The museum shows the culture and human history. This includes sculptures, painting, weapons, collection of coins as well as stamps used during that era. From the very first site to the last was amazing and any one who is visiting should spent atleast 3-4 hrs to collection they have. They divided into 6 sections. The bronze sculptures made my mind more delighted. One of the palace was under renovation during my visit. Best place for exploring Indian history starting from stone age to present day. This is a museum that is huge and can take up to 2hrs to roam around all galleries, artifacts or sections. This place contains abundance of information, if you like facts and wanted to know history - this is best place for visit. One visit is enough and can get easily bored if you are not good in exploring historical artifacts and statues.Children Museum is best for kids for exploring science and getting interested in studies.
