Gourmet House Restaurant in East Providence
Description

Very good food. It slayed and I go there a lot so it slays even more! #slaybossgirlqueen
MoreThis was one of the worst examples of Chinese food. The people are obviously not Chinese. Food was cold and horrible. My dog loved the rice. Avoid!!!
MoreGourmet House is one of the most delicious places ever. If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life it would be shrimp nime chow from Gourmet House. I wish I had some right now.
MoreEverything was so delicious! Very happy with the vegan options🙏Will certainly order more in the future 😋
MoreGreat food! Lots of Gluten Free items! Underrated place for sure!! A++
Normally very good but the pad thai tonight was the worst Ive ever had and my friends noodle dish was poor as well. The pad thai had no taste and in fact tasted like it was cooked in a pan not rinsed well after soap
MoreI’ve been coming here since I was a kid and I’ve never had rice as good as this I since moved from prov and I still drive a half hour just to get their fried rice I need that recipe lmao I’ve been trying to recreate it and I never can figure out what they put in it to make it so damn good it’s my favorite food of all time by far the best thing Ive ever tasted love this restaurant
MoreI love the gormet house! But every time the portly girl works I regret walking in the doorBe nice smile once and a while geeze
MoreThis restraunt makes family events all about the food which is almost always perfect! But the BYOB makes it so inexpensive !!!!
MoreI order fresh spring rolls and Nine Chow. The rolls were super small. I never ever had rolls from any other restaurants that small. To add ordered through GrubHub which made my order super expensive. 😕
MoreBeen coming here since they first opened years ago. The best quality food. Soup is hands down the best I’ve ever had from the broth to the noodles. I usually get veggie angel hair noodle soup or shrimp rice noodle soup. So cute inside too. Great service great decorations wonderful atmosphere.
MoreONE STAR for its policy of not allowing a group of friends to have a meal at a restaurant because the policy is 4 or more people may NOT GET A SEPARATE CHECK when paying? IM LIKE, WTF‼ YOU CAN GO OUT IF BUSINESS FIRST‼
MoreThis food is simply the best. I drive 40 minutes to get it without complaint. My faves are coconut chicken, beef teriyaki (its NOTHING like beef teriyaki at Chinese restaurants), and Thai coconut soup. Yum!!!
MoreThe worst scallion pancakes I have ever had. They were undercooked, greasy, thick and floppy. Absolutely no crunch and tasted like old grease. I don’t even know how you make scallion pancakes this bad.
MoreIve been here twice already in one week. Recommending the beef pho! Amazing. Great service from waitresses, clean, quite and cozy. Best part, you can bring your own alcohol drinks.I was in with a large group and everyone enjoy their meals. Variety of food, love their large menu.
MoreFrom time to time we go here for lunch. Was there yesterday and ordered Roasted duck in tamarind sauce .. actually good except the legs was not duck but chicken legs. I guess this is under new management and also not the same chef.
MoreFirst impression: The basil sauce dish is superb, beef and chicken. Nime Chow is excellent. Recently, take out meals have been disappointing. The rice and noodles are overcooked and mushy.
MoreCame here for the first time and the food was freaking delicious here and the service is top notch. Their menu is pretty freaking awesome and the prices are affordable.
MoreOur family has lived this place since waaaaaay before it has been the Gourmet House it is today! But today is the first time weve eaten in since the Covidity started. Almost everything weve had has travelled well as take-away but Bee Bong is something to be eaten on site. I had Tofu Bee Bong today and I swear, it was even better than I remembered! The service was great, as usual, too. I am so grateful they have survived the Covidity so well and I look forward to eating in regularly again with family and friends!!
MoreHad the lunch special. Delicious, quick, affordable, feels authentic. They give you hot tea when you first sit down. Ginger chicken was so so good.
MoreA Hope St. staple. Family owned and operated, Gourmet House has continued to dish out consistently delicious entrees, sides and apps. Hearty portions packed with plenty of savory and spicy flavors. A few of their all star specials include:- Crispy Thai Wings- Beef w/ Aspargus- Drunken Crab Soup- Nime Chow- Teriyaki Sticks
MoreMy friends and I ordered food through DoorDash. Everything was so neatly packaged and organized. I recommend the Beef Pho, Shrimp dumplings & Thai iced tea !! They offer such a wide variety of Asian dishes and I wish I could have tried it all !
MoreI got the food delivered through GrubHub. It was fantastic. There was no extravaganza of a wait. It was fresh . They tend to be a bit heavy on the salt with some dishes.
MoreI used to love dining in at Gourmet House prior to Covid. I was a huge fan of their BYOB policy and the food specifically the crispy calamari and pad see ew. There wasnt an item ordered that wasnt made with love. Ive had the drunken noodles, lort noodles, crispy chicken wings and so much more (and loved it all). That was until Sunday night, when my family and I ordered take out.We got:Mongolian Beef- the beef was very soft and thrown together sloppily with too many onions and green peppers.Noodles in a Cantonese Sauce- the only semi decent dish ordered; tasted like saucy lo mein and chow mein had a child. I wouldnt order again but it was the only item anyone wanted seconds of.Beef Pad See Ew - bland rice noodles, no sear, char, I would be surprised if it were prepared in a wok. The noodles were clunky and dry.Crispy Salt and Pepper Calamari-the batter tasted oddly sweet, not fried long enough, with minimal salt and pepper seasoning.I completely understand that Covid has made owning a restaurant difficult but during these tough times mediocrity will get you no where. Due to my prior patronage I choose Gourmet House but I regret not trying Aspara next door.
MoreI ordered from here because the reviews were good and I was craving Asian food. Sadly I was disappointed as the sticky rice tasted bad was so sticky and hard it was barely edible and the sweet and sour chicken tasted bad as well.
MoreThis review is not about the food, but a precursor to the food. Restaraunt doesnt smell or appear sanitary. Hand sanitizer at the front door cannot dismiss the greased or shoe stained floors leading to the kitchen and bathroom. Looks like soap has never hit either area in years! It didnt even smell like anything was cooking scary for a culture filled with exotic spices.
MoreReally have no idea how this place has 4 stars. I ordered shrimp pad Thai and the crispy garlic wings and it was disgusting. Their pad Thai isn’t regular of Thai. Super dry. The sauce smelled like apple cider vinegar. No flavor shrimp wasn’t seasoned or deveined. Chicken was flavorless super greasy and had still a lot of hair on the wings. I’m so sad that this ruined my appetite.
MoreThai, Vietnamese, Cantonese, and more. One of the best in the state. Great hot and sour soup. Fresh ingredients, extensive menu, decent prices, friendly staff. Wonderful food!
MoreHighly recommended! Best Thai, Cambodian and Chinese food in Providence.Food is cooked to order; staff is happy to make adaptions to specifications.Hearty portions, reasonably priced and served with a smile. Even during this pandemic always ready to please.
MoreI called ahead before submitting my order for delivery on door dash and asked for a specific sauce to be included because the last time I included a note in my order requesting it they forgot it. I was told that if its busy my order might be wrong but if it slows down then my order is more likely to be correct. when I received my delivery my order was missing the sauce to spite my note and my call. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!
MoreWe ordered Gourmet House on 07/19/20 through DoorDash. We ordered General Tso chicken, two bubbles teas and beef teriyaki. The bubble teas and beef teriyaki were really good. When we received our meal it was not General Tao chicken but instead shrimp. We called and complained and the restaurant told us to come back and they would give us the chicken and rice. We went to the restaurant and picked up the food. We then went back home and open the bag. Instead of chicken and rice we were greeted with a big bowl of soup with an oil base that was absolutely disgusting in smell. They gave us rice but not chicken. This was a hour and a half process to get a refund from DoorDash and get the order corrected by the restaurant. Unfortunately it was not and I don’t know what they gave us if that is what they call soup but I would never feed that to anybody as I feel like it would instantly clog your arteries. I don’t know if it was a joke or a mistake, but will never eat or recommend this establishment.
MoreGenerally good, but dont order the Pad Thai.Ive had 4 dishes here. Bad to good, the ratings are...Pad Thai - 1/5. The noodles were pink, the chicken is more breading than chicken. Overall not very appetizing, would not recommend.General Tsos chicken - 4/5. Solid general Tsos, little on the soft side and not very spicy.6 piece teriyaki beef - 4/5. Good, not exemplary.Crab Rangoon - 5/5. They may a GREAT crab Rangoon. Only downside is I like more texture than they have.
MoreGet takeout and delivery from here frequently and have never been let down. Have never eaten inside however. The ingredients always seem extremely fresh, so much so that its noticeable to the naked eye. The Beef Teriyaki is amazing, probably my favorite over any other Asian restaurant in the area. My favorite entree is the green curry stir fry, and i get it most often. The Pad Thai is good, but Ive had better. This place is on Doordash, so definitely give it a try next time you order delivery.
MoreWe love Gourmet House! The food is always fresh and delicious and you never have to wait too long for it. The prices cant be beat and we love that they are BYOB. Some of our family favorites are the steamed raviolis (dumplings), nime chow, red or green curry stir fry, udon noodles singapore style and thai chili garlic chicken wings. So good!
MoreConvenient location on Providences East Side offering Cambodian food! Restaurant is a small and intimate. Atmosphere is subdued. It has from Windows that can afford a clear look at the activity on Hope St. Food is good and priced fairly making Gourmet House a good place for a reasonably priced meal.
MoreKids and I eat here all the time. Usually the same seats too. But service is always great. Love walking around and grabbing a quick dinner here. We know that its one of those places that will always have a seat for us and the food always come out...fantastic. Never dissapoints. And the prices are very reasonable. Crispy noodles there is delicious and their wings are...*slurp* yummmyyyy. Definitely a must try!
MoreDelicious food, an amazingly intensive menu, huge portions, and fantastic prices. We ordered family style, so I got to try a lot of different things and I can’t decide which was my favorite. The drunken noodles were so good, the wings were perfectly seasoned, the fried rice was scrumptious and filling. The service was excellent, as well.
MoreOne of my favorite restaurants in Providence and a great spot for Southeast Asian and Chinese cuisine. Excellent food! I highly recommend the Beijing stir-fry and the Cambodian spring rolls.
MoreAmazing!!!!! If you are looking for fresh, Asian-fusion dishes at a fair price served by the friendliest wait staff, you have found the place! We live in Maine, but college trips take us to Providence and this has quickly become a favorite dining destination! Enjoy--- we sure do!!!!
MoreI went to try this restaurant because Google suggested it. Im so glad I did. The service is awesome. Friendly and helpful staff that greet you with a smile. The food is beyond delicious. I have to say hands down its worth it. The prices are reasonable and its BYOB.
MoreVery reasonable lunch specials. It came with a nice choice selection, appetizer, and a soup for mostly under $6.00 !Service was quick and accommodations were made for gluten free, Bea Bong. Large bowl of tasty coconut noodles as well!
MoreThe food and service is great here. No issues and the staff is always friendly. One of the girls up front is always sweet. I have been back because of the staff but the last few times were a little off for me. The restaurant and the food are fine but there’s a person who sits for a long time. During my whole meal one time he was there just on his phone. I have seen him maybe three times and I don’t come a lot. Do you guys allow solicitation or just people to sit in? I just felt uncomfortable along with my son waiting to roam around and play near the beads. Other than that i love the food. I will be back again i just wanted to let you know about that.
MoreThe food was great! However the service was so awful. The server was not attentive, was extremely rude and did not even check in to see if we needed anything. The lady in the front was also extremely rude and wouldn’t even do the favor of properly splitting the check since the server was absent. We had to ask multiple times for boxes and had to wait over 15 minutes after dining for the check, which only came after flagging down an employee. Will not be coming back since both the server and the lady in the front were awful. Loved the food, but the employees made the experience horrendous. Do not come here if you want to have a good time with your friends and family. You’re better off going to Apsara next door or ordering take out.
MoreGreat atmosphere, tasty fresh food, nice service. generous portions. The hot and sour soup and complementary tea warmed me up on a chilly rainy day. Got lunch special for two, Plus two appetizers and a soup. Only $22. Theres debate between which restaurant is better..gourmet house or its sister Apsara, in the little plaza next door. But both are very good. Pictured is lemongrass shrimp lunch special. 6 shrimp and fresh crisp veggies. Flavorful rice. Love the amount of garlic used in their dishes.
MoreGourmet house is another great hidden gem. This is a southeast asain restaurant with vibrant artwork and scuptures that complement the food being served.Gourmet House is one of those rare generous places serving a big portion size with enough to take home later as another meal, prices that are shockingly affordable and quick turn around time if your on a lunch break.the high quaily food is packed with flavor and culture, prepared like a high end resturant. With a 45 min lunch break and 8$ expect to leave with the word "wow" on your tounge.
MoreAlways great food, and fast. Lunch specials are a great value. Dinner plates are served family style so great for sharing. It is a BYOB establishment, there is a liquor store right across the street which is convenient. Great place for takeout as well.
MoreLove this place. There are so many Asian food restaurants in our area but this one stands out to me. Starting with the prices which are more than fair. The menu selection is extremely extensive and well varied. Im not a drinker but I think their alcohol policy is BYOB which also helps to save money. There is also a liquor store right across the street for your convenience. The only issue I have ever had is occasionally members of the wait staff havent been as attentive as I would like but Ive never had a server that was slow serve me again. So maybe they weed out the slow ones. Anyhow, the Gourmet House is my first choice locally for Asian dining.
MoreA weekly staple, the food is always prepared quickly and is delicious. The menu is clear and well labeled so you can get gluten-free/vegan/lactose free with ease. Never had a bad meal, the house special fried rice is a religious experience.
MoreA fantastic selection of food, ample seating and great service. I always order the chicken drunken noodles and Cambodian spring rolls. The chicken wings are also directly from heaven. The portions are huge so I always have leftovers for dinner. The food is tasty and more importantly, light and fresh. You know that awful feeling you get after eating Chinese takeout? That does not happen with Gourmet House. I go at least 2-3 times a month. Had lunch with a friend, 2 entrees, an appetizer, pot of tea & fresh water. $25. With the quality of the food and service and the fact that I take home half my meal every time makes this a 5 star stop for me. A+++
MoreThis place is really good. The food is just like my parents make. Very flavorful and ample. You can dine for 2 for under $20.I have been here many times and the service is always great. I asked for a dish that they didnt have but the chef made it anyways. Thats beyond service and more like mom cooking your favorite dish! The decor is kind of odd but open. There is no parking in front of the restaurant but plenty of parking at the CVS a few yards away.
