Local standby for Indian classics like chicken tikka in a simple spot, plus meal deals and delivery.
Found this restaurant after seeing the past reviews and menu offering. Its surely a hidden gem and the food was really yummy. I had booked the table in advance as it was India vs Pakistan game weekend. Luckily we got the table and service was great by Preet, although a bit slow as their staff were unwell that day and had more bookings. Preet was really good and still served with a smile. The food was just delicious and vege biryani was yummy. Would surely come back again next time I visit Melbourne. Cheers Kumar from Brisbane
Unfortunate experience. Full order didnt taken properly so we had items come out that we didnt ask for. On top of that, the curries were lacking any flavour or spice, and were too watery. Im quite confused about the current ratings for this place as its the higher rated Indian restaurant in the area. Unfortunately I cant recommend this place.
The best Indian cuisine in Melbourne I dare say. From mouth-watering butter chicken to tender tandoori and exciting biryani. This restaurant has exceeded one’s expectation. A must try!
We have felt quality of food does not match the price. It is quite pricey. We brought aloo and paneer kulcha. There is little to no stuffing of aloo/paneer in the kulchas. Authentic kulchas come with good amount of stuffing. Also, there was rice stuck under one of the kulchas. Take away food quality is not satisfactory. I am disappointed!
Delicious food, to be honest I never heard this restaurant before. Randomly visited this place on Friday after had several drinks. but never forget this restaurant food. staff are very friendly and well behaved. I would love to take all my friends this week again. if any one wants to eat and feel like homely. visit this place. you wont regret I am sure.
Delicious Indian good, excellent service and quiet, cosy location. We had butter chicken, chicken jalfrezi and aloo Gobi. All tasted superb and the garlic naan was amazing! Highly recommend. Well definitely be back next time were in the CBD.
If only there were more than 5 stars, i’d absolutely give it to this amazing place. Amazing food, could not really decide which one was the best. The staff and the owner are very welcoming and made our visit worthwhile. Would definitely visit again.
Food is too good and full of taste. I had the meat thali and was fully satisfied with everything that was served. On top of that the owners are very sweet. I would totally visit it again.
Easily the nicest meal I’ve had in years. Delicious, it would be at least 10/10 if Matt (a member of our reservation hadn’t robbed my garlic cheese naan). Would highly recommend. You want banging food? This is the place!
Best Authentic Indian cuisine in town, hands down I can’t wait to come back againMuch love
The Delicious Indian food 🥘 you can only get it in Melbourne City is Gourmet Curry hut, good food, great service and even fine dining experience that will satisfy your lunch/dinner cravings. Most recommended.
We had our family dinner and the service and food was just too good. We definitely coming back again. Highly recommend anyone that’s looking for mouth watering Indian dishes in the city.
My favourite Indian restaurant! Great curries and friendly service. Ive been going there since 2003. A beer, glass of red and vindaloo or (the best!butter chicken with a garlic naan ... heaven!! And its always good to support such a great family business.
Had a great dining experience at Gourmet Curry Hut, all staff were supper friendly and committed to providing great service. Most importantly the food tasted amazing. Highly recommend !
Nice atmosphere, liked the food variety but the portions are small. We had butter chicken, coconut rice and lamb chops. Taste was ok but I had more tasty curries in other places. It’s a little bit pricey considering the portion size and quality. The service was good though.
Second time dining in, this time with my family and friends at this amazing Indian restaurant, cant recommend it enough. From the staff to the food, everything is amazing. I can now say this is our new favourite Indian restaurant by far.
I discovered this restaurant through google reviews about 7 months ago and have been coming here weekly for my curry fix. I’ve done a lot of travelling throughout south east Asia and the Oceana region and do frequently eat a lot of Indian but no restaurant have come close to the quality that this restaurant serves. My favourite dishes are butter chicken, lamb madras, chicken korma, cheese/garlic naans and saffron rice. Thanks for the great food and hospitality. Already looking forward to my curry fix next week.
The best indian food Ive had in Melbourne!! the tandoori chicken, lamb chops, butter chicken is too die for!! Id also like to thank the waiters for there friendly service. Me and my family will definately be coming back.

Hands down the best Indian restaurant in Melbourne. The owner and staff are so accommodating and welcoming and the food hits the spot every single time! Authentic and delicious, reliable and affordable - can’t go wrong.
If you are in CBD and want some authentic Indian food experience I would highly recommend this restaurant. Super amazing food, great ambience, friendly staff especially the owner, honestly what a man. We went to dine with couple of my friends and totally loved it. He also gave my friends some complimentary drinks. 5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.Insight: try beef saag & butter chicken. Loved it. Chef nailed it.
Gourmet Curry Hut one of the best Indian Restaurant in Melbourne. Staff are very courteous and friendly. Even the owner is the nicest man around always smiling and happy and concern about customers satisfaction.Butter chicken is awesome and lamb vindaloo is finger licking. Garlic Naan is a must try..... Simply delicious. All reasonably priced.
Yum yum yum! Beautiful goat meat curry and creamy vegetable dish. We ended up ordering a second garlic naan to sop up the sauce. Excellent table service and recommendations from Luvjit .Very reasonable priced food and drinks, I highly recommend dining here when you’re In Melbourne
Tonight we went to Gourmet Curry Hut with some family from England, the owner kept the store open for us and were very accommodating. As always the service was great and the food was fantastic! Repeat customers here and will recommend this restaurant to others. Best Indian in Melbourne! Thanks for a great meal already looking forward to our next meal with you.
A hidden gem in an old arcade. Definitely will recommend, very good food they will ask how spicy you want your food. I had the Sambosa and Saag paneer and both were beautiful. The service and cleanliness are acceptable and good too
The atmosphere is great and the service is sublime. I normally can’t eat Indian food without getting some sort of irritation in the stomach. But at Gourmet Curry Hut I could indulge in the food, especially the Butter Chicken (which I find to be the best out there)!! Would highly recommend anyone in Melbourne to dine in.
Cozy dining area & perfect taste & blend of Indian food.. Hospitality and service up to the mark.. Keep it up!!!!
35 ppMy favorite Indian restaurant. Taste is in my style. I love butter chicken, lamb Vindaloo. Their naan is also very good with dipping it in a bit of sauce. Recommend it.
One of the best Indian food I have had in Melbourne.I visited this place with my friends for an early dinner on a Monday. We ordered multiple things- chicken tikka, madras chicken, meat thali, dal makhani and tandoori prawns- that for was the highlight of the whole experience. It is a MUST TRY!The owner and the staff too are very welcoming and warm and ensured that every customer leaves with a happy stomach and a smile on their face- that’s all they strive for and that is very clearly seen in their service.Do visit sooooooon!
Really delicious samosas, curry and cheesy garlic naan. The service was also fast and friendly. Will recommend to friends and family and definitely come back here again. Thank you so much!
We went there during the winter so it was a bit cold. They have heaters on which helps making the atmosphere cozy. On top of that the owners are very friendly and does whatever it takes to make you feel comfortable. The food is good! It feels hygienic and neat.
Awesome Indian food! Butter chicken was very rich, chicken tikka was also delicious. Rogan Josh and korma some of the best Ive had! Staff very friendly and helpful, would go there again for the service alone! Very affordable too.
This place is second to none for Indian food in this city. No joke, I stand by that 100%. Ive been back many times and relish a good excuse to introduce this place to someone new. If you want to mix rice with delicious sauces and meats, come to this spot. Nowhere else does better Indian and ill fight you on it.
I found Gourmet Curry Hut by chance during one of my lunch walks around my office. They have an impressive variety of Indian curries, that go very well with rice or Naans and Rotis. Unlike restaurants and food joints where the same base masala with minor changes is served as different curries, Gourmet Curry Hut make every dish of theirs in house and fresh. The curries are good quality, authentic in taste and well worth the money. The restaurant is well maintained and clean. A huge shout out to the staff who are always polite, professional and attentive. The food experience here has just been amazing. Am certain Gourmet Curry house will on my list of go-to places for good Indian food right at the heart of Melbourne CBD. Do give it a try when you are in the city :)
This was some of the best Indian food Ive had the pleasure of tasting, and since Indian cuisine is one of my favourites, Ive had my fair share of it.My partner and I each ordered a thali (set), one meat and one vegetarian. The gravies were thick and delicious, meats were tender, and the naan fluffy and chewy. The gulab jamun (milk balls in syrupwere the perfect sweet finish, especially with tiny sugar crystals clinging to them from the syrup. What a gem of a place. Absolutely would recommend and will be returning. Plus the owners were lovely and a joy to chat with, which was just the icing on top of a delightful dinner experience!
Amazing food! Best Indian I have ever had! I genuinely cant understand why anyone would give this place anything less than 5 stars. Had tandoori chicken, lamb chops, butter chicken and beef rogan Josh with garlic naan and plain rice. Couldnt recommend more!
Best Indian food I have ever tasted. The friendly service made my experience even better. Highly recommended and i wish they had more restaurants around Melbourne!
Went in not knowing what to expect but after leaving, I am confident this is the best Indian cuisine in Melbourne. Would highly recommend this restaurant for a night out… excellent food, excellent service and excellent experience. 10/10
Seriously amazing and authentic food. We loved the family atmosphere and would highly recommend!!
What an absolute experience dinner was tonight, didn’t expect it to be that great but never judge a book by its cover! The service provided was phenomenal, staff were friendly and helpful with helping decide what dinner was going to consist of.The food was nothing but amazing, from the entree chicken tikka to the mains consisting of butter chicken which was to die for and madras which was creamy and definitely satisfied my tastebuds!Great vibes being able to catch up with a few friends over some delicious and authentic Indian cuisines, will see you guys again sooner than later!
Let me start with something good, the food. The food is worth coming back for, it tastes delicious. However, the management of this place is rather poor. The restaurant seems to open whenever the staff actually want to open rather than their business hours. I would call the restaurant several times only for staff to eventually pick up and say they are opening 2 hours later that day. In addition, there seems to be not enough staff. Ive been asked to wait over an hour before picking up my food but on arrival (rather early), the restaurant is empty. They have uber eats and doordash, but it never seems to be "available", and when asked, they will say it was too busy, all the while the restaurant is empty on arrival. I hope they can start managing the restaurant better because one day, they will ask me to wait an hour or two to put in my order and there wont be a next time.
The best Indian cuisine in Australia by far. Had my favourite butter chicken with garlic naan and I was NOT disappointed. The service and staff are lovely. I will definitely be coming back to Australia to have this delicious food again. The owner is a very nice man and showed me and my family a very good time.
35/PPIn the Royal Arcade, there is indeed a secret real Indianrestaurant. Before my visit, I asked an Indian buddy for histhoughts, and he told you will not be disappointed. It is, in fact! The staff was attentive and kind. Definitely return to try moredishes.-[Butter Chicken]Immersing the tender pieces of chicken, which have beenmarinated overnight, in a silky tomato sauce with fresh garlicand blanched tomatoes is heavenly amazing.-[Tandoori Combo]The meats were cooked well, with pleasing heat levels thatmatched the season. The lamb chops and chicken tikka werewell complemented by the yoghurt sauce with hints of herbs.Coupled with truly fluffy, chewy garlic naan, just delicious.
Handy to CBD, easy access, friendly service, extensive selection on menu.Food was enjoyable, and we will tray again.
I wanted to celebrate competing at a bodybuilding show and what better way, after several months of strict diet, than an Indian meal? The Gourmet Curry Hut did not disappoint. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was just right - intimate but welcoming and the service was great. It hit the spot for all of my family. A very relaxed restaurant with really friendly staff. Next time I am in Melbourne I will definitely eat there again.
Small little restaurant in an indoor commercial alley way. Tikka masala was nice, naan bread too. Butter chicken was decent too.Mango lassi wasn’t the best and not very fresh. And service a bit slow.
What a hidden gem. The food was absolutely delicious. Well definitely be back next time we are in Melbourne. The Vindaloo was soooo tasty.
Loved this place!!!! Really good food and not too expensive!!!Also the person serving us was really thoughtful. He was really thorough in asking questions about how we wanted the spice level to be, what we felt like eating, if we wanted the Entrees before our mains, suggested a couple of things in the menu, etc. :)Highly recommend the lamb chops and buttered chicken!!!
Absolutely trash vegetarian food. Daal makhni and malai kofta tasted very bitter and stale, as if it had been left out for 3 days. The owner refused to believe us and said “nobody else has complained” and that our taste buds were “different.” We assume that most of the clientele eats non veg (so obviously they didn’t complainand hence the vegetarian curries are left over from several days ago. We ended up not paying because we had barely eaten anything and couldn’t possibly stomach another bite. Do not recommend at all for vegetarian curries unless you want to be gaslight by a restaurant that clearly doesn’t know how to cook vegetarian food. Truly haven’t felt this gaslight since my last ex. Feels cliche to say this but if I could give 0 stars, I would.
Amazing food. We have tried many Indian restaurants in Melbourne and I have to say this is top of my list now. The flavour of their foods are so delicious and tasty that reminded me of authentic taste of Indian food. Highly recommend this place!
