The trip was really horrible. No survice at all. We went for Jeep Safari but thehood of the Jeep was full of holes we all got totally wet. From sides also water was leaking. It was a really bad experience. Not a single animal was visible. We had to walk all the way to the tower. The forced us to take Bullock cart which was not supposed to be done. Our shoes were totally wet it was a rainy day and a very bad weather.Only few birds were visible and nothing else was visible.
Its a perfect tourist spot for nature-lovers. I enjoyed a lot while riding bike through this place. Must obey the caution signs.
Its a must visit place for all nature lovers and travel enthusiasts. It is home to a large variety of different species of animals and mammals and full of flora as well. Best season to visit is November to February. It is closed during the monsoon but post monsoon period like September and October is ideal for experiencing the lush greenary that it offers.
Guys it is the one of the most remarkable national park among the national park in India. All of my friends if you are want to see some especial place then I suggesting you to come here one time in whole life. The atmosphere is awaseme. If you have any fear regarding hotels, safety of here then you have no tension, just come and enjoy yourself feel better than previous journey. There are some out standing local sight seeingDont miss a single chance to come here.Come here and feel as I feeling.
You should visit Gorumara national park at least once in a lifetime. Best time is just before winters around month of October and November otherwise go for February month. Nightstay is not necessary at all for Gorumara National park. You can easily access from Siliguri and come back before 8 or 9 p.m. Leave from siliguri after breakfast and make a fullday plan. Try to book Jatraprasad jungle safari then you will get the maximum chance to visit wild animals. After Jungle Safari there is a complimentary local traditional folk dance or Santhal dance that you will enjoy equally.
You will get mental peace when you spend some time in the forest, I love it
My own place, all time favourite 🥰
It was a wonderful experience. I went ther in ther evening. The environment was so dark. I heard some crickets noise and also an unknown sound of an animal. I dont know what is it. I think it was a baison.
Must visit for wildlife lovers . Located in the Terai region of the Himalayan foothills, Gorumara National Park offers its tourists exquisite splendor and the scenic beauty of the unperturbed nature in the region. Deemed as a wildlife sanctuary in the year 1949, this medium-sized park, with grasslands and forests, rose to become a national park in the January of 1994. The national park is exactly sited in the Malbazar subdivision of Jalpaiguri district, in the state of West Bengal and is primarily known for its population of Indian Rhinoceros.
This Forest is really enchanting though due to huge crowd, it is difficult to maintain the cleanliness and silence in the forest... the co existence of tea gardens and forest really adds new dimension to it...it feels like to sit inside the forest and feel the lonely enchanting nature at its best...
If you really want to have a look at wild animals... dont miss medla watch tower...we visited the place and saw Hornbill, Deers, peacock, indian gaur, Indian Rhino... Dont miss the chance. The local authorities arrange tribal dance also for refreshments.
Visited Gorumara National park for the first time. Had Jungle Safari by Gypsy, which costs 1935 for six persons including guide. The experience was good but we had bad luck. We couldnt spot any animal except some birds ( Hornbill and peacock). Although my expectations were not satisfied, the overall experience was good.
If u r searching for true adventure, do visit. Dont expect wild animals at ur own will, accept that they r free spirited and may only show off at their discretion.
Lots of animals are there .Byson,Elephant,Deer,Wild pig peocock . Green trees . Here you will get fresh airs.
Lush green.. dense forest. But if one expects birds and animals will follow will be disappointed. Maybe winter is a better time to visit. If planning to stay at lataguri one can stay in the resorts inside the forest.
As a forest it is marvelous, but wild animal visit or Jungle Safari fully depends upon your luck factor.
Gorumara National Park is a grassland jungle renowned for one horn rhino. Elephant Safari is one of the main attraction. You can book ticket from online. Approx 1000 per head. Gypsy Safari also very exiting. I would recommend to take Jatraprasad coro safari from Lataguri. Very refreshing trip staying in the lap of nature.
Enjoyed a lot with family. if you love jungle then it is the best place for you. you can definitely feel the adventure.
We cant see any animal just waste of money.🌄 But the view osm
A paradise for birdwatchers n wildlife enthusiasts. The forest guest houses are amazing. A must visit place.
Amazing place, were really really enjoyed this beautiful place ❤️
We could not see any animals except several peacocks.
It was a great experience overall..... The mountains and the greens gave us the feels.....
To experience nature closely must stay at govt forest rest houses..
A very different experience of riding in an open jeep and going for jungle safari. We saw Peacocks, hornbill, chestnut headed bee eater, langoor, elephants, cranes and cows.
Lots of peacock are there in the jungle, we are lucky as when we were going into the Gorumara NP two male and two female Sambar deer were just infront of our car, that was breeding time, one elephant was crossing the road in front of our car. Jatraprasad watch tower was the best view point.
A beautiful forest with a variety of trees and wild animals. I come here with my family. We have spotted bison, deer, and elephants. Jeep safari is amazing Forest guides help us to spot animals.
Its a bliss...endless stretch of greenery and the fresh air. The safari is a must-try here and one of the main attractions. There are 3 timings for safari: 6am,9am and 2pm. The early morning 6am slot timing is the best for safari. Tickets prices are: Rs.450 per head including a guide, plus another Rs.150 per vehicle entry fee. Each vehicle(top open gypsy jeepstakes 4 passengers + 1 guide + 1 driver. You need to stand in line to get tickets and dont forget to take a xerox of your Aadhar card/other govt. id. There is a huge rush, so reach way before the timing and get a spot in the line(they have about 20 vehicles going per slot). The ticket counter is about 1km from Lake View Resort towards the market. Even if spotting a few animals here depends on luck, missing the wild experience would be a big mistake. There are 25 different kinds of orchids found here apart from many other trees worth watching. Amidst the forests, there are 2 tribal villages here. The roads running through the dense green forest on either side and the never-ending flow of cold breeze is perfect for any nature lover. It purifies your soul. A must-visit place for anyone willing to get a blend of little altitude, forest, small rivers and quiet, peaceful surroundings in the lap of nature.
Gorumara National Park is one of the most dense forests of West Bengal. Sometimes I felt it denser than Jaldapara. It’s a big forest with a huge variety of wild animals and a number of plants. The main attraction of Gorumara National Park is the Jeep Safari from NIC Lataguri to Jatraprasad Watch Tower. The best timing for the Jeep Safari is 3:30 PM to 5 PM because this time there is much possibility to find wild animals especially Elephant, Peacocks and Deers. The Rhino is also a main attraction of this place. In the evening time you can feel the silence of deep forest which can’t be felt in the morning or afternoon. Online booking is available at West Bengal Forest Department Website. You can book the Safari online and enjoy the wildlife beauty.
Really nice place to visit (obviously for those who loves jangal ana nature). Sometimes people says oh nothing to see or we couldnt see any animals due to jangal Safari.. hold on! the forest itself is a gift of nature to visit and just get lost in wild smell and freshness. Enjoy
It is best to opt for jungle safari here (not watch tower Safari).Best time for jungle safari are morning slots. You have high chances to see Elephant in morning slots.
Had a very good experience. However, was unable to spot any animal. But thats okay. Jeep safari in a dense forest like this is itself a memorable experience. The guide and the driver nicely showed and explained everything about the Jungle, the lifestyle of the people around the forest and so on. Its absolutely worth to go for jungle safari in Gorumara.
Essence of jungle is nice not always animal viewing huge plants and its foliage the silence was the the main attraction though bison on our way was quite thrilling
Its a big forest. Now, in 2021, it has been changed a lot as Im seeing now after 8 year. Road has been highly developed, a huge number of settlement increased in the last decade, concrete structures covered the natural beauty a lot. Market facility, homestay facility pushed up the area more friendly like general plain land forests. But, one of the most interesting thing everyone should experience once at least is jungle safari in open-hodded jeep provided by Gorumara forest division.Best time to visit Gorumara is the beginning and end of monsoon. Which will provide a scenic beauty of forest land.Though, the winter visit also a good choice.Peacock is the only watching element and sometimes a bison. If you are very lucky, then, an anonymous elephant.
Lovely place with a natural beauty . Feel the nature , intake some fresh air , spend a quality time . If you will visit this place You must fell in love with this place . You can take a Bullock cart to reach the watch tower . Beside you can see the beautiful tea garden . You can wait in the watch tower for watch animals pass through the jungle or comes to drink water , must take a binocular ir camera to see those animals . Overall its beautiful Forest. From here you can also watch the great kanchenjunga mountain .
Though there are a number of national parks and forests in West Bengal, Gorumara tops the charts in terms of popularity. Located in the Dooars region of the Himalayan foothills, it is a medium-sized park with grasslands and forests. It is primarily known for its population of Indian rhinoceros.
Teeming with wildlife, one of the better places for a good safari as well! Wildlife includes, but not limited to, Indian Gaur, Elephant, Rhino, Wild Boar, Leopard, Hornbill, and many other variety of Animals and Birds. Out of the many safaris, try the JatraPrasad and Medla safaris. They have better landscape views, and higher chances of spotting.
Gorumara National Park is one of the most attractive places in West Bengal. This park is located in the Malbazar subdivision of Jalpaiguri district, in the state of West Bengal in India. This region has rolling forests and riverine grasslands, and is known as the Dooars in West Bengal. The park is located on the flood plains of the Murti River and Raidak River. The major river of the park is the Jaldhaka river, a tributary of the Brahmaputra river system. The park is rich in large herbivores including Indian rhinoceros, gaur, Asian elephant, sloth bear, chital, and sambar deer. Small herbivores include barking deer, hog deer and wild boar. Tigers are, however, occasionally spotted here. Birds at the Gorumara National Park include submontane forest birds like the scarlet minivet, sunbird, Asian paradise flycatchers, spangled drongo, and Indian hornbill. The park is home to a large number of snakes, venomous and non-venomous, including the Indian python, one of the largest snakes in the world, and the king cobra. To reach there you can go to New Mal Junction railway station or to Bagdogra airport. From there you can take taxi to reach the area.
Gorumara forest in Dooars is one of the tourist attraction over here. Forest safari jeeps are available here. Per Jipsy costs 1400/- guide charge 300/- and per head ticket is 25/-. Here you can see bison, leopard, rhino, deer etc if you are lucky. Peacocks, monkeys are easily available. One can enjoy the view of the forest. Best time to visit is winter.
Best forest I have ever visited. Too many old trees which we could find in here. Air of forest has rhythm. You have to book the ticket from government counter to get Jungle Safari. Timings are Morning 6 AM afternoon 2 PM and evening 4 PM. Post getting the ticket we will get h guide and a gypsy to go inside the forest. Its 2 hours trip inside forest. We encountered many peacocks on our way. Also there was baisan flock which we encountered. It great experience. Its place of elephants, one horn Rhino, baisan etc. Gyspy trip is must have experience. Forest is so big that there is low chance of spotting any animal very easily except peacock.
The dense jungle, safari and wilderness one can never miss...it is about 100km from siliguri...there are many safaris...remember all the booking are now done online...there is almost no chance of spot bookings...online booking will take 120around...then at the ticket counter bring the print out along with idenfification proof...the car safari will cost 1500-2000 atound...timings are 1.30hr each from morning to evening...then feel the grace of nature and the jungle and wild animals...and definitely maintain the calmness of jungle...Hope u have a adventureous lifelong memorable jungle safari....
Gorumara National Park is famous for elephants, rhinos, bisons, barking deer, spotted dear, sambar etc sighting. It has many gates/entry points. We went there for morning safari from Jatraprasad entry point. We took a jeep safari for 1500/- in the morning. We booked it one day prior. And they allowed only 4 people in a jeep because of pandemic else 6 people can travel in one jeep. A guide will accompany with all the safari jeeps. It was a foggy weather and we only spotted many deers, bison, peacocks and hornbills. We also spotted elephants that are kept there by foresr dept.Overall experience was good but could have the safari stretch a bit longer. I recommend this place and will suggest to visit there during April-May for good sighting.
Nice place to Safari and wildlife visit. The place is well organized and cleaned. The national highway is crossing through the jungle. If u lucky enough u will see elephant, peacock, monkey, deers, etc.But please dont throw plastic or other hurtful for animal object on the road or ground, because animals will eat those and choke ,die...so please take care of that.
Good place for safari. Nice ride. Animal siting is always luck. Got to see to rhinos from distance and even peacocks and forest ranger elephants. Safari cost 2140/- for 4 for 2 hours ride in the forest.
Great Nature reserve well maintained providing opportunity to the local people . Locals have great respect towards the jungle which is very welcoming. Though best time to visit is not during the monsoon or rainy season as its very few animals seen best time to visit is during summer or extreme winter when animals move from one place to another . We had an opportunity to explore at night in the very dark and spooky jungle but that was the highlight of the trip and totally worth it.. lots and lots Peacocks and 1 lonely Elephant we spotted in the evening hours .
Gorumara National Park is a most wonderful and good Deepest forest and Himalayan Ranges forest in North bangal. Im visit this place every year many times. This year Im visiting this place first time. I like it.Every time any train are connecting NJP Station and other station in North bangal. You visit this place I hope you love it.
Nice jungle scenery. But chance of seeing wild animals is low.Among the wild animals and birds, peacocks and elephants are plenty available. One can go for jungle safari or for watch tower safari. Chance of seeing wild animals is more in watch tower safari. There are four watch towers among them I went to jatraprasad and rhino point. It costs a total of Rs 2780 for 1 jeep in the fourth shift(4pm to 6 pm. Maximum 6 persons are allowed in one jeep.
Very nice place for enjoy jungle trip. You can see wild boar, bison, deer, peacock, python, rhino, elephants and so many birds, also see many trees. There also local folk dance arrangement at evening. The ticket system available and provides a guide and open hood jeep.
Place is nice specially for who loves nature and forests.. national park is good but as a national reserve forest it hardly feels like jayanti which u can say a dense forest.. foods are great very cheap weather is nice. Resorts are good nicely decorated.. most has parking spaces..
