Gorman's Restaurant - Snack bar in Stillwater, United States
Like stepping back in time, to my small town in northern Minnesota. Felt like I actually knew the folks for years. They noticed my Minnesota wild goals t-shirt and thanked me for my service which was pretty cool. The omelet was great, good cheese, I asked for the potatoes to be well done little crispy and they came out amazing. Hit them with some ranch and hot sauce and good to go. Cant wait to bring more friends back here for good old-fashioned American breakfast.
This place is a gem. The staff is super friendly and really go out of their way to make it a nice dining experience. The food is delicious, truly homemade.
Love the staff here. The club sandwich is excellent!
Best shakes and malts Ive ever had. Love this place!
Loved going here and bringing the kids for delicious diner food, plus fun decor. Feel saddened that they have gotten so politicized, it detracts from the experience. I dont want politics with my dinner with family and kids.
Had lunch last weekend wife has celiac disease asked waitress if she could see if they fried other stuff in friers she said they do and dont guarantee anything they made wouldnt have gluten in it. She was very rude we were just asking a question. She ordered a omelet and a fruit bowl instead of toast or muffin because she cant eat anything with wheat in it. I ordered a club sandwich on white toasted bread the bill came to $33. And we drank water. Waitress never came back to the table until we were finished and ready to leave she gave us the bill and walked away without saying anything. Will never go back
Nice restaurant and patio. Servers are good. Just really disgusted by owners advertising their political views. I know its a private business but in doing so, they alienate half the customers and make it uncomfortable.
Excellent service. My sandwich was delicious. Reasonably priced. Homemade cookies.
This is a super cute place with local nostalgia all around. The menu gives plenty of options. The service is great. You can understand why the parking lot is always full. I highly recommend this neighborhood joint!
Really gone down hill. No seasoning on any of the food I got. Most bland fries Ive ever eaten.
Excellent food & very friendly staffMy husband says they have the best cinnamon rolls.
Our first experience here was great! Food came out quickly and was delicious. Even my kids asked when we could go there again.
Great service even though she was only one of three working a mid-afternoon shift. Malts were tasty, appetizers were standard and the breakfast order was delivered as Ordered. Great pictures and signs to read while youre there. Patio seating is available.
Very friendly service, excellent selection, great food
Best food around! Love their strawberry shakes!!!
Not sure why so many butt-hurt political reviews but I didnt see any political propaganda anywhere except for an American flag flying out front and a "God Bless America" plague at the counter. Is that really what they consider "propaganda?" I didnt hear a word of politics or religion being discussed. But if youre really that obsessed with being offended, youll be offended no matter where you are.The food was fantastic - great burgers, fries that arent coated with that God-awful coating that every restaurant seems to be hell-bent on serving these days and the pickles arent those nasty sour things that no human in their right mind would eat. The trifecta!
Food is mediocre at best. Main reason to stay away is owner is a MAGAot.
Shakes were great, too bad this place is so politicized. The propaganda is completely unprofessional. Wont be back.
Used to love coming here, and now its become a very disappointing restaurant. The food isnt good enough to offset the terrible service you get there now. I was pretty much the only patron in the restaurant and wound up waiting for several minutes just to get a soda. Everywhere is short staffed right now, including where I work, and at my job, we dont make it the customers problem that were short staffed. We just work better.
Edited: 5/13/2021 ~ Sorry I had to edit this review with the wrong place... this place was great, I enjoyed it thoroughly! I think I was hear about a week ago or two sometime around the end of April. :3
The tuna melt was burnt. The rueben was tasty but the fries were cold. Service was OK.
Love this place. Nice family restaurant with lots of old time atmosphere. Servers are down to earth and very personable.
Not a safe or comfortable environment to eat, im sure they will spit in your food if youre a POC or dont support tr*mp
Owner should worry more about serving food and less about politics. Im so sick of the hyper politicization everywhere, dont need to see it at restaurants. Also, food wasnt very good and the service was super slow. Not impressed, wont be going back.
I love their food. Great service. I am absolutely in love with their chicken soup🥰
This is a good little restaurant with homestyle cooking and our breakfast was pretty good.
This is such a fun place to visit. I love the breakfast. Service is amazing too!
From my two times here, it averaged to a decent time. Service is good. Biscuit gravy, mushrooms, and potatoes were all bland. Reuben I had was excellent and buttery. They also wear their politics on their sleeve, which was a bit odd to me. Decent, but probably wont go out of my way to here again
I was so happy to find this place. Gormans has got to be my favorite place to eat. It has everything I personally look for in a dining experience. The warm friendly atmosphere, the friendly staff, the antiques throughout the restaurant with all the wonderful photos from the late 1800s and early 1900s and the background music were in my opinion the perfect setting to enjoy the great food they offered on their menu. Its hard to find all of my favorite foods in the same place from biscuits and gravy to the club sandwich and the old time malts made in a shaker glass to the tater tots that seem to be getting more and more scarce. I love this place and will be returning frequently. Thank you Gormans!(I will add more pics at my next visit)
Stopped in for first time today with my Dad, aka "Patriotic Kenny" to celebrate my husbands birthday. The food was so delicious and large portions! Angie & her staff were so friendly and welcoming. The decor is so interesting and has so much history. Cant wait to return to try the meatloaf dinner that everyone has been raving about!
Homemade American style food. I had the open face beef sandwich with mash potatoes & corn. Real shucked corn of the cob. $13.95. Then I had a dish of ice cream. Has 3 scoops that you can have different flavors. Its the real creamy stuff. $5.95. Washed it down with a Pepsi.
A favorite spot of mine for breakfast at any time of the day. You get real scrambled eggs and not liquid egg. Always good service.
Excellent food, excellent service, great prices! As far as treats go, I LOVE THEIR CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES & HOMEMADE MALTS!!!!
Back in late August my hubby and I stopped in for lunch. We live over in Maplewood and had never eaten here. The food was delish and being a vegetarian sometimes my choices are limited and I wasnt disappointed. We eat here at least once a week now. Service is great, food is always fresh and its a pleasant place for a nice casual meal. If I could give more stars I would!
I went here for dinner last night and the food is sooo good! Our waitress was so sweet and took very good care of us. We will be coming back here soon! Also love everything the owner stands for!! 🇺🇸
Very cute place hidden in Lake Elmo. A tad expensive but huge portions.
Extensive menu. Casual, antiques & memorabilia all over. Servers prompt & courteous. Coffee came warm not hot. Otherwise, a nice experience.
Not impressed at all. We both ordered malts, they didnt taste like they had any malted milk in them. My wrap was stale, so it fell apart as soon as I tried to pick it up. Also ordered a biscuit and gravy, that was a joke, it was a biscuit with a sausage patty cut up and then some white gravy put on top. I was taught that you make the gravy with the sausage in it. The waiter kept setting his tray down on our table while serving the table next to us. Wont be back.
Some tables were not clean. There was a fork stuck in our seat. Food was OK, dont have the small steaks and baked potatoes anymore. Pulled pork sandwich was good.
Superb Denver omelette, excellent coffee and great service!! Breakfast potatoes very good, too. Would come here again to try other items on the menu!
Great family-owned diner! They have a large menu, so theres something for everyone. I have eaten here many, many times and never been disappointed!
I have only ever had breakfast and ice cream here, but I cant say enough good things about this restaurant. It starts with a great small town feel where they find good and personable wait staff. Then it goes into very tasty comfort food and finishes with an ice cream parlor window. We love going to Gormans after church as often as possible.
Was there today for lunch with friends and it was AWSOME. I had their cheeseburger and pile it on fries. was GREAT!!!
If only there were more places like this! The lunch stop thats quick but not fast food.... With authenticity to boot. And flavor! Meat pie was delicious and duck 🦆 fat makes a mean fry!Man behind the counter was my meat pie sherpa! My sensei of savory!Good call on the lunch special my Aussie pie guide!
Husband and I picked up 8 piece broasted chicken, mash potatoes with gravy and corn via the drive through. We live about 15 min away and the food was still piping hot and really comforting. Perfect proportions of everything and good quality chicken. We will for sure be back!
Amazing breakfast! I recommend over easy eggs, sourdough toast and the half order of biscuits and gravy. Very nice people and a really nice historical vibe on the inside. Take some time to look at the pictures.
I would have liked to give this place more stars but I’ve never had tough pancakes before and $3.95 for an ice tea? Not sure about their refill policy but that’s way too much. The service, however, was 5 star and we enjoyed checking out some of the the old pictures and antiques. I hope to return for a better experience but I’ve lived less than 10 miles from the place for 20 years and this was my first visit. Ugh
Always receive excellent food & service. My husband and I eat here at least every other weekend. Their Steak & eggs is 10☆s for him & Im partial to their fried egg sandwich meal. With their home cut potatoes -You cant go wrong.
Great place. Just discovered this nice family friendly place. My wife and I had to come to a compromise on places to go and this place served us well. Neat history all over the walls...old pictures from years past all over. I had the fish and chips, and while it was quite plain in presentation, it was exceptional.....no soggy batter, but yet enough moisture in the batter during the bite and the cod was done right. My wife had breakfast for lunch and she enjoyed it too. Unlike a recent post who voted this place low recently for a political agenda, I did not notice any political stuff anywhere.....but I would not care if it was there and I opposed it....I ultimately came for the food...and would rate on the food. Good stuff here.
Great food, large menu, big portions. We went for dinner but heard they are well known for breakfast. I had grilled chicken breast, broccoli and potatoes. It was all delicious. My mom had an oriental chicken wrap with cold slaw which she very pleased with. We didnt have dessert but they have a LONG list of ice cream flavors available too! Service was friendly, fast and timely.
