Narrow coastal park with a sandy beach, walking trails & wildlife, plus picnic tables & fire pits.
The best place to watch sunsets or sunrises. Even better watching the full moon rise over Texada.
Lovely place to walk along beach. Chance to see otters playing around. Bring the dogs and kids.
Cool place to see the ocean in two ways, the beaches were long and it was busy but a very nice place
Great spot to watch the sun set over the mountains! We enjoyed watching the seal in the water swimming around and giving us a show. There was a bit of litter along the shoreline unfortunately. But all in all its awesome there.
Go up the stairs to feel the burn.
Great beach as always. Sure wish they still had burnpits so the kids could cook a hotdog!
popular area, parking is limited
Wonderful beach to swim and enjoy the sun. Beach shoes are good as there are some rocks. Parking can get pretty full.
Beautiful except for the entitled drivers who bully everyone with their pickups and 4x4s. People need to learn to relax, share the road, we will all get there eventually.
It is ok for a relaxing visit; some areas are good for swimming as the water is clean and clear
Hidden germ, quiet and safe please for families water fun
The designated swimming area was full of sea grass floating around and was rocky. But the other side was fine and the water was still.
Stunning sunset. Excellent bay for kit surfing. Public washrooms can be improved. Summer parking extremely full. Get there early. For star lovers you cant stay after midnight due to Municipal parking bylaw.
There is often something going on around the beach. Whether its people wind surfing on windy days. Or theres a herring run, sea lions splashing, people playing, or a beautiful sky to to see. Its part of my community and great place to go and hang out for awhile. The first pic is of herring roe(eggswashed upon the beach.
Lovely walk when the tide is out! Not very stroller friendly as it’s quite rocky and sandy. Fun little adventure for the little on though.
Excellent off-leash area. Better at high tide for the dogs if you want to throw retrievables into the water. Great parking.
Great place for sun and salt water swim
Great place to watch the sunset!
Nice for some storm watching.Shaw wifi reaches here.Inner harbor great for Kite Surfing, kayaking, dog swims. Can be a little nuts for parking on a nice day.
A nice walk on a sunny day. Plenty of parking, porta-potties available.
Below high tide, lots of sandy beach. Good parking. World class view. A short walk will get you a private area. With small dogs beware of eagles.
Goose SpitMay 17/2022. The view here is wide & broad. The day we were here, spring weather was strong winds with a mix of sun with rain. Liquid sunshine. The tide was out & landlocked a couple of dolphins that were feeding on fish that attracted many. Theres a totem pole at the far end of the spit, accessible by the beach only because the road runs through a section with military control.A lady at the gate, informed us we couldnt drive to the pole. Thats far another day in warmer weather.
Beautiful spot to put in and paddle our kayaks from.
As advertised the spit is your access to the ocean with unparalleled views of the Beauforts and Strait. Kick up a little sand and time out the tides for the experience you’re looking for.
Nice walk along the water. There is a nice walk with some stairs that have a nice view of the bay.
Nice, quiet place to park and relax by the water. The views were pretty even though we went there on an overcast day. It’s certainly an interesting place, but not ‘spectacular’ in comparison to many other places in BC. It can get somewhat busy, but there’s a pretty decent amount of parking.
Breathtakingly amaz-ballsly beautiful so much to see.
Sandy beaches, outstanding sunsets, wood structures, mountains and so many beautiful rocks!Unless you’re will to cut through the military base (definitely not recommend, private propertysimply be aware you must turn around at the point :really enjoyed this place ✌️
Goose Spit Park in Comox is a great scenic beach walk around the entire spit…and you can start and/or end with a steep stair climb to get the heart rate up.
Marvellous lookout over the ocean... impressive view when taking the stairs...Beautiful BC
What a beautiful park to visit. Low tide today.
Great park, dont let the name fool you. Like a wise person once told me, never judge a book by its cover and never judge a park by its insanely ridiculous name. Ok, she never said the latter but I think thats basically where she was going with that. She taught me everything I know about visiting parks; be on your best behavior, enjoy the views, wear appropriate protection, always ask first, clean up your mess, stay on the trails, playing in the mud is extra, tip if you had a good time and no kissing on the lips. Thanks for all the great parks advice Cinnamon, I apply your training everywhere I go.
This park is in an amazing location. You see the Sunshine Coast mountains on one side, and the Vancouver Island mountains in the other side. It’s also a great place to lay down your blanket on the tiny beach, or go kayaking. Do keep in mind that you must bring your own kayak as there’s no rental location on this narrow strip of land. It’s surely a great place to visit and one should come in different seasons.
Nice big beach/sandpit- lots of crabs, shells, sand dollars. Great place for everyone, including dogs and kids. Great place for a walk.
Hours could be spent here. Playing in the water. Relaxing. Walking the beach. Beautiful
Is it a beautiful beach? No, not really, but because of the stretch of land, it actually offers a beach on both of its sides. Theres plenty of room for everyone. Its also evident that the city has put a lot of work into the wooden log structure along the path.
We love waking here with our dog! There is so much to see and explore. Depending on water levels you can see a lot of sea creatures.Went around looking for oysters and crabs. It’s also fun to walk on the logs and our dog found some sticks to play with.Sunsets are very beautiful here as well. Can get quite busy but decent amount of parking.
Such a beautiful location. Panoramic views of the ocean, spit and mountain backdrop. Great place for kayaking, sup-ing, picnicing or hanging out at the beach ☺️
Enjoyed the day spent here with my family. We walked around for a couple hours just taking in the views from ever possible angle lol. We found a couple sand dollars on the beach which the kids were really amazed with. My daughter came home and immediately googled sand dollars and was even more fascinated by them. Weather was a bit cloudy when we came but we will definitely come back on a nice summer day and see if we have to fight crowds to get some parking. Highly recommended after 1 visit, hopefully I can update more on the next trip out..
Getting outside is never easier than when you visit this gem of the Comox Valley. From wandering along the beach, to wading in the surf, or just watching the kite surfers on a windy day, Goose Spit has something for everyone. The nearby washrooms are frequently cleaned, and the Park Staff do a great job of keeping this place tidy. With beach fires allowed in season, this is a great place to unwind.
Amazing place.. really nice views of the mountains and long beach that you can walk for hours.
Easily one of the best beaches in the Comox Valley. Nice and close to town. Lots of sand at low tide. Nice protected bag perfect for paddleBoarding or kayaking. Also fantastic storm watching in the winter months.
COVID-19 update (14 Dec 2020): The popular narrow stairway from the base of the spit to Yates Rd. had been closed (at least as of 13 May 2020as its too narrow for safe distancing. It was re-opened in summer 2020 for UPHILL TRAFFIC ONLY (one way). Getting back to the bottom is an 800m walk via Yates Road & Hawkins Rd. The onward trail further up the hill from Yates Rd. to Moore Rd. is open both ways, as are most of the other local trails.A nice waterfront park, popular with locals year-round. Best place in town to watch the sunset. The park occupies a narrow spit of land with beaches on both sides and a road in the middle. Theres usually parking available along the road and a few small parking lots. The spit protects Comox harbour to the Northwest from the waves from the open Salish Sea to the Southeast. In winter, frequent southeast winds bring waves crashing on beach on the south side. Kite boarders frequently take advantage of the great combination of strong winds and calm waters on the north side.At the base of the spit, theres a stairway up the hill to Yates Rd., then onward to Moore Rd., residential streets. Its a popular exercise spot. The wider land at the end of the spit houses HMCS Quadra, a Royal Canadian Navy facility thats not open to the public. In the summer, it hosts a large Sea Cadet camp.
The views are incredible! The beach is sandy in some spots with some various rocks near and there. Though you have to climb a fair portion of stairs, there are some great lookouts! Parking is VERY busy on a summers day, maybe get there quite early. Here are a few pictures capturing the scenery.
Incredible!!! A fitness enthusiast dream.....you have stairs to climb, its a .6 km asphalt run from one end to the other for the runner.....and then enjoy the AMAZING sunrises and sunsets......Hit the beach and hang out with family/friends, or just relax and reflect about. You have two choices of beaches....the sunrise side gives you an incredible view of the sea and mainland mountains.....along with our islands and the huge cruise ships in the distance. The sunset side gives you sandy beaches soaking in the evening sun and the very calm waters of the Comox harbor. Watch the sun set behind the Comox glacier.....dont forget your camera...... Fire pits in the summer........yeah!!!!
On a warm sunny day with clear skies, Goose Spit offers a majestic view that would shame a postcard. Though the beach itself is more rocky than sandy, it still holds a special place in most peoples hearts. There are picnic benches, or just plain benches, scattered throughout the length of the road adjacent to the beach. There is plenty of parking except on the busiest of days, which shouldnt concern anyone as even the walk from Comox Downtown to the beach can be made through a series of parks and back roads with their own unique charms.
Amazing spot to spend time with friends and family. Nice beach, clean bathrooms, and beach toys available for the kids. Get there early for your fire pit. Free kindling to start and $5 for more.
A mid day excursion to an unexpected adventure ... where you can lose a whole day if you arent careful. A beach full of amazing future photographs.
Nice stretch of beach to go watch a sunset. During the summer they have the option of having a small campfire by the water, which Im looking forward to trying. Theres a bathroom in the middle section and beach on both sides. Leash optional for dogs so be careful if your dog is like mine and doesnt get along with others. If you want to exercise theres a set up stairs in the hillside at the base of the beach that you can run up and grab extra special views for your efforts, its a popular place to run stairs for fun by the locals.
Great place for many things..There are beaches on either side of the Rd on more sheltered than the other. The water is often warmer here for swimming in.There are a lot of people who use the sheltered side for paddle boarding, kyacking and kite boarding.
