Goodness Me! Natural Food Market - Health food shop in Kitchener, Canada
Goodness Me! Natural Food Market in Kitchener
Description
Privilege
Good size and variety health/organics grocery store.
Been going here for years, great selection and organized
I like the store. Good selection of organic and Keto produce. Lots of local produce from near by farms. Vegetables seems more fresh than some Wholefoods locations in Toronto. Hope they can keep up the good work.
MoreLove the fact that freedom of choice is given here. Plus the staff and products are too notch. For any foodie that is an ingredient conscious person, this store is incredible
MoreI always have a good experience with the staff and its so nice interacting with people who arent wearing masks.
MoreHot food bars chicken is so dry one can die swallowing it. Great salad bar, coffee, smoothies.
MoreStrict return policies. Bought the wrong oat milk and the duty manager rejected my exchange. They questioned the fact that it is half full even though I tried a quarter of it. Do they not know that the cartons do not have it filled entirely? Lost a customer.
MorePlease ask your staff who are cashiers and subsequently deal closely with customers to wear a mask. The big chain stores have ALL their staff continue to wear a mask. Why not a Goodness Me cashier??goodness me!
MoreMy favourite grocery store and Goodness Me location!! I’ve been shopping at this location since it opened. Very neat and well organized store. Always the best quality/freshest produce and other products. They always have sales in the flyer and organic produce is cheaper/better quality than Zehrs and other grocery stores. Great job guys!!!
MoreSaw some customers maskless once and I wasn’t sure if there was any attempt to enforce mask mandate for safety of other customers.
MoreAs a family, we frequently shop here and have had very pleasant experiences with the staff. The staff are sociable and super friendly around my little guy and are a breath of fresh air during times where most public places give an aura of anti-socialness. Also, in regards to people complaining about the mask thing, I have shopped at numerous places and majority of shops respect the bylaw. Honestly, they could probably get into a lot of trouble if they didnt because a lawyer friend I know has confirmed that its discrimination if theres a true disability that prevents someone from wearing a mask and there are medical reasons especially mental health reasons like feeling claustrophobic or for someone who was assaulted in a certain way and who has PTSD from the reminder when something covers their mouth, etc. I dont know why people are leaving one star reviews for something like that. I have seen Superstore staff, etc. likewise not saying a word when someone says they have a medical exemption. These people leaving one star reviews are living in their own little world and not in reality. Its not fair to exclude people from society because they cant wear a cloth over their face for whatever reason. If they arent shopping when sick, thats the important thing.
MoreThis place doesn’t enforce covid safety protocols. Not worth risking ur health for overpriced groceries. Funny they consider themselves a health food store but don’t actually care about public health!
MoreHave seen employees at this store with their masks below their nose. Your essential oils arent protecting you.
MoreLots of vegan items here including some harder to find things like Middleton’s seitan ribs, Save da Sea plant based salmon, and Le Grand cheese spreads. They have a chickenless pot pie at the moment and some vegan egg nog drinks. Vegan chili and some vegan ice cream too. Clean store, nice staff.
MoreThey made the best greek salad ever October 6th. I have been shopping here since it opened. Bomb...
MoreEvery time when I shop here now in the last 3 months there is always at least 1 customer without a mask roaming around the store.... Why is it that I only see these people at this store and not at other grocery stores? Those without a mask are not assuming risks upon themselves and are on the contrary, posing public health risks onto others. Wearing a mask mostly protects others around you. For myself and many others who are immunocompromised with preexisting health conditions, we can not afford to take chances. For such an expensive store the covid 19 enforcement and protocol put in place by management is really disappointing. I always leave right away when I see that :(.
MoreI do not understand why so many people are displeased about noticing other customers or employees without masks at Goodness Me.Youre shopping in a HEALTH CONSCIOUS space of all places, surely you would understand that people would be taking a more holistic responsibility about their health and their personal conditions that prevent them from wearing one? Masks are not a shortcut to health and i highly value the staff for not being prejudiced and do not overstep the provincial bylaw of allowing exemptions by pressuring customers to wear one.If those without masks want to assume whatever "risk" upon themselves and each other you perceive exists, they have the choice to do, but if your lovely masks actually work then you have no reason to be frightened.Other unconcerned societies have long ditched this obsessive anxiety and have naturally returned to their former normalcy while people here are still acting like germaphobic maniacs riled up by sensationalist corporate news seeking perpetual viewership and medical professionals with conflicts of interest instead of addressing the systemic causes of disease.
MoreTwo customers standing in front of me were not wearing masks. Neither the cashier nor the store manager acknowledged it. The two customers were treated as norm like there was absolutely nothing wrong with "NOT wearing a face covering in public indoor space". As their regular customer, I must say Im very disappointed. Might as well rip off the face mask sign at the entrance if the store is not going to do nothing about it.
MoreThank you Goodness Me for upholding your mission statement and at the same time respectfully accepting those with visible and invisible disabilities shop in your store without feeling guilty, and upholding the law.Selections are great and I shop here now more often than before knowing I wont be discriminated against, at least by the store and the employees.. Other customer reviews show they still discriminate and judge those they know nothing about and thats very sad, and they really dont know your stores mission statement... Its sitting on the wall by checkout. They should go shop elsewhere if they dont feel safe.
MoreI only shop here once and a while but whenever I do, it is always a great experience. They are always well stocked and have a great selection of items, especially for vegans! In addition, I love how well-kept the store always is. Yes, it is a little pricey but you get what you pay for.
MoreWOW the discriminating 1 star reviews left by these hot headed know-it-alls because of employees who clearly cannot wear masks for medical reasons are unreal... The store actually DESERVES recognition for being ACCEPTING of people who CANT wear masks.Have people really lost this much touch with reality? There are a large number of people who cannot wear masks due to medical reasons, please leave medical diagnosis to the Doctors. Make your peace with the fact that some people CANNOT wear masks. Educate yourself and stop being so judgemental of people trying to live their life the way they HAVE to live it during this insane time.I wear a mask anywhere I go, but I am really starting to feel horrible for the poor people being discriminated against, denied service, or extremely judged for even trying to make a living, for not wearing a mask. What else are they supposed to DO? Go live on the street and collect govt support instead of working? Because they cant wear a mask? Lets hear SOLUTIONS and not just complaints....If you have a mask on, that means youre PROTECTED. If you dont feel safe with your MASK ON, maybe youre the one who should stay home and shop online...So mind your own business and leave people alone and just go about your day not worrying about how youre going to be JUDGED for something so out of your control. Go shopping elsewhere if it makes you uncomfortable. I will 100% support Goodness Me even more so than before now that Ive witnessed this, it is unbelievable.A huge THANK You to Goodness Me for NOT discriminating people based on their health history and letting people shop regardless of their mask wearing. You are a very small percentage of the few stores that do this and you deserve more recognition. I hope you know there are also a lot of people who will still shop here knowing this fact. 5 stars all the way.
MoreI had an unhappy time at this store initially. The cashier refused to give me a senior discount, even though a sign near the entrance said seniors day today! She said it was the previous day, though the sign was still up. ( with no date on it)I called the manager about it later,( I was mulling about it all afternoon and he issued a generous coupon for the next time I visited!Im glad I called him, because I had decided that I wasnt going to shop there again! So, it turned out a great shopping experience after all!
MoreI like this place! We moved to the area recently. Good to have a Natural Food Market. I see you have the Mad Mexican dipping sauce. Could you get the Tomatillo version as well?! It’s so good..I miss it.
MoreSO APPARENTLY COVID DOESNT EXIST IN GOODNESS ME?Not a single staff member in mask. A few have face shields which do jack all against covid. When called head office was told their staff have asthma therefore cannot wear masks. Apparently all 50 staff members at this location have asthma what a JOKE. They need to be shut down immediatly
MoreThis place doesnt take covid-19 seriously at all. I walked in this store a couple days ago and all I saw was the employees wearing face shields with no masks worn. I dont feel comfortable at all walking into this store. I will not be shopping here until the fix there business.
MoreWell - What a horrific experience that was...Dec 3rd - where Covid-19 Cases are roughly 60-70 new cases per day and 566 active cases in the region. We entered Goodness Me and noticed a lady with 2 children, one 8-10 and the other under 5 all not wearing a mask. As the todler was licking shelves and the icecream container we had talked to an employee asking them to enforce the policy. Nothing was done.We then spoke to the younger female manager, who was in the eatery area, also not wearing a mask or face covering of any kind - around all of the fresh food that is made as well as the baking area in the back.. When asked for them to kindly talk to the lady - she tells us that She does not personally agree with the bi-law and that masks shouldnt be requiredWe said fine, well leave our cart and not shop here again as both staff and the general public do not abide by covid bi-laws and apparently arent required to...Upon walking out, clearly on our way out without making any disturbance, she runs up to us and has the audicity to say Im going to have to ask you to leave as if were the ones in the wrong.Never have I been so outraged by the lack of immaturity and the amount of ignorance of the staff here, especially the manager. If you dont care about public safety (or your ownand dont want to wear a mask - its apparently ok to do so here and you can be yourself, otherwise, I would avoid this place like the plague - because even staff dont abide by bi-law policies. They just lost 2,000 a month from us and well be shopping elsewhere from here on out.
MoreThis is a mask-free store. I have seen two employees not wearing masks because of “medical conditions”. There are also numerous customers walking around with no masks. All you have to say is that you have a medical condition. I no longer will shop at this store.
MoreGood location, not busy and appears to restock supplies on regular bases. Staff within the nutrition section is very knowledgable and informative. At the time of purchase, the store doesnt have the supplement in stock however they were able to order in the product the following day. Great customer service.
MoreReview is for my experience back in 2016-2017. The Goodness Me! Natural Food Market store has been a hidden gem for me back when I was in University. I would used to drive here every week to pick up my supplement essentials and oils. There are products sold here that you cant find anywhere else and the produce are fresh! I used to come get lunch here A LOT because the food at the self-serve is so delicious. Yes, the prices here are at a premium but the quality is good and food here is healthy. I just wished that I continued to live here around the neighborhood after my University graduation but I had to relocate due to a full time offer.I can say that when I spent my time there back in 2016-2017 the staffs were very helpful and welcoming. Im not sure if they still work there but I wish them the very best and happy life! :)Thank you guys!
MoreWhat happened to this store? New management? All the staff are miserable.I am paying a huge premium to shop there, and if you cant make an attempt at a simple smile QUIT, get out of the service industry. Janet and Scott should be ashamed.
MoreI live near the Goodness me, Waterloo location, and over the years since they opened this great store in 2015, Ive met exceptional people. Not sure who is now responsible for the hiring but the entire energy of the store shifted immensely each time not in a good way. I go there weekly to get all the unique ingredients that I needed for my cooking, spending more than $100, it is my favorite store.Unfortunately, the checkout staff is arrogant and not friendly, making comments and acting inappropriate. The positive first impression will result in more sales and more referrals. Negative attitudes need to be changed. I hope my feedback will help you to act quickly and improve satisfaction. Best wishes!Updating my review... Goodness me listened and has improved their customer service at checkout. Thank you!
MoreMy husband and I have eaten here every morning for a year now and love the service! Everyone is friendly and helpful. The food is great and there is always a smiling face to great you on your way out. We have noticed the prices fluctuating but the staff and good food is what keeps us coming back.
MoreThis place is my go-to for all things healthy and organic. A couple of months ago I learned that I needed to adjust my diet due to some tight restrictions. As a student, I had no idea where to begin. I didnt even know what questions I should be asking. I walked into the store and wandered the aisles for little while. I must have had a confused look on my face because I was promptly asked by a worker what I was looking for. I told them about my situation and she spent 45 minutes walking me through what I needed, why I needed it, and some tips I should know for the future. Since then, Ive been going on a weekly basis! Everyone is always so kind and always greet you with a smile. Even the cashiers have gotten to know me never cease to make me laugh. Keep up the awesome work!
MoreI travel from the other side of Kitchener, because I love that I can get all the unique ingredients that I need for cooking. However, I have started to look elsewhere for these items. The checkout staff is always (I mean literally every timevery arrogant. They never say Hi or engage with me as a customer. They act as though I am a bother. Customer service is a HUGE thing for me, which unfortunately will have me shopping else ware.
MoreLove the variety and I LOVE the vegan samosas and cookies (definitely try s’mores one - they have a great selection of dairy free products as well as meatless products!!
MoreOk so i used to shop here alot but after being treated like I was bothering the cashier who in order for the manager to deal with this and not be labelled , I will identify as looking to be of Caribbean descent, and having my items put in the bag like they were garbage, really didnt impress me.As i was watching this happen i also noticed the cashier looking at me with a smirk like what she did was funny. The last review makes me believe that this was the same person who also mistreated the last customer who posted here.I WILL NOT DROP MY HARD EARNED MONEY ON OVERPRICED ITEMS AND BE TREATED LIKE THAT!Do yourselves a favor and support local small business health food stores and not some corporate giant.
MoreOverall good store, great selections and okay prices a lil high on some things. The guy in the back working the salad bar/ cafe area was friendly and helpful. However the customer service at the checkout wasnt so great. Zero effort put in. Tossed $100 worth of stuff in one bag putting the soft items on the bottom. Not friendly, I felt like I was an inconvenience.
MoreOne of my main if not my main store for health food or health related supplies. Fresh produce, packaged goods, dairy, etc. Also a large selection of health care products, vitamins etc. Frozen sections also. It also has a great restaurant with made daily selection of foods and a nice sized salad bar, coffee etc. Oh, they also have weekly (eveningscourses that you can sign up for and they are very informative. The only negative I have is that the pricing is a little high for my taste, but having checked out other similar type establishments I have found they are also a little pricey. Typical market forces, if you want healthy you are going to pay for it. Lastly, staff is GREAT and very helpful, if they dont know the answer they will find someone who does. Oh, hands off the Cinnamon Coffee Muffins..............they are mine.
MoreGoodness me is a fun store to shop at, and has an extensive variety of health products, organic food and produce. They have a delicious hot bar & cafe, and a place to sit and enjoy your meal. Some prices here are higher than other organic retailers, and when an item needs to be returned, its a bit of a hasstle, as multiple employees and steps are usually required. Most people who check me out seem a bit grumpy or untalkative so I have mixed feelings about this place.
MoreCareful trying "Goodness Me" branded items. I recently had an unpleasant experience trying to return an item that had clearly gone bad, by the Goodness Me brand. I received two rounds of questioning and skeptical looks, and was even told by the defensive manager that in 3 months they have never received a return of that product... fascinating! Well this product was off, without a doubt. I didnt appreciate the vibe I was getting from the THREE employees it took to complete my refund. I spend a LOT of money at Goodness Me, it is close to home, features many brands and foods I enjoy, and I have no problem paying extra for a quality product. I have never returned anything to them before. I will definitely think twice before trying something unknown or anything "Goodness Me" branded, in order to avoid such an experience in the future.
MoreReally large open shopping space, with a natural health theme. i can find fresh goat milk and organic everything here. Organic sometimes seems more expensive but more than worth it sometimes no matter how tight budgeting is, and also not everything organic is more expensive.
MorePopular local grocery with fresh local, organic and/or natural produce, healthy and organic hair/body/skin products and more! In-store salad bar and serving area. Constant specials and discounts. Classes are available to learn about important health issues. This is my favourite place to buy essential oils and a variety of lip balms.
MoreGreat selection of green, organic, vegan and other more specialized produce and products. They also have some really delicious prepared foods. I see they also offer different workshop type things, though Ive never done one. I like that they act as a conduit for others involved in wellness, nutrition, etc.
MoreI love goodness me,Ive been cutting dairy out of my diet and they have so many alternatives that fit my lifestyle! The best is that I am able to have a quick hot lunch with excellent quality 🥘 food.Be aware that the prices wont be the same as a freshco but the quality is superb!
MoreI really like Goodness Me because its a Canadian company, they have affordable organic and fresh produce and, when possible, its local. Theres a beauty product and vitamin section which is quite sizeable. They have ready made food like Whole Foods but on a smaller scale - quite delicious! If you eat meat, most of their meat is hormone free, sustainable and all that good stuff. One drawback, I find their canned goods and packaged products to be a bit more expensive than other grocery stores. Overall, its worth a visit.
MoreA change to their hot food policies ended up costing me more for the same item I could normally buy in their fridge section (that they were just out ofand they werent very flexible with a solution, but that aside, all of my other experiences have been good. Good variety of items they carry and the prices are reasonable (compared to stores such at Whole Foods etc.)
MoreWe really wish we had found this place a long time ago. They beat a traditional grocery store on multiple fronts, not only they have a vast selection of organic/health conscious at very competitive prices, but they also have much better selection of of certain ethnic delicacies (eg theres like 10 varieties of kimchi). On top of that, they have a very descent cafe with very tasty and healthy food that I highly recommend trying, and they also have space where they run classes and workshops, some of which are free. Keep up the good work, Goodness Me!
MoreI have been shopping here since it opened and loved it! However, today (for the second timeI found something in my food (from in-store prepared food located at the back of the store). This time it was a green chunk of plastic in my ginger cookie (jagged and sharp on one end, about 0.5" +). Luckily my daughter didnt bite into the piece and break a tooth. The first time was a salmon wrap (very thin wiry plastic, something maybe from a bottle brush?). I do like this store and have spent a considerable amount on groceries and supplements here, but I think I will no longer buy the food prepared in-store. I do realize that sometimes these things can happen, but it was also the way in which they dealt with it (I didnt say anything the first time with the salmon wrap). The staff member at the back said "Im so sorry, please take another cookie for free from the tray!" This was not a "free cookie" as I already paid for one that was not edible. Did I really want another cookie from the same batch anyway? Shouldnt the entire tray of cookies be removed because others could be contaminated with plastic too?....Ive lost my appetite for Goodness me!
MoreIts not so secret any more. This is one of the best (and most cost-effectiveplaces in the region to get a steaming cup of organic fair trade coffee. Their café is a quiet spot for savouring delicious hot organic meals. Finally, they always have interesting and innovative natural and organic food products to try.
MoreAwesome staff. Amazing selection. The largest organic store around. Prices are higher than the conventional grocery store but my families mood, and health has changed for the better.
