Good Enough Mine Tour - Tourist attraction in Tombstone, United States
The mining tour was informative but can be pretty claustrophobic. There was a part where the tour guide shuts off the lights in the mine to show us how miners worked back in the day. I would suggest the guide do a warning before doing so to allow people to leave if they wish as that did not happen when I did the tour. It caused me to panic and leave the mine. I returned to finish the tour after the lights went back on. The tour guide never checked up on me or others who left the mine. It couldve been an oversight. But common sense would be to check up on a customer if they panicked during their tour.
Absolutely Mr. Brandon is an amazing guide. I wish I could take his tour for the first again. I suppose there are multiple tours they offer at the Good Enough Mine.
The best mine tour Ive ever experienced! I was not expecting to climb down into an actual mine. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history and answered any questions that were thrown at him. We wore hard hats and were warned of certain areas of the mine that were off limits. We learned alot about the silver that was mined and how much money it produced for the town. Awesome tour one of the best ones Ive ever been on!
Excellent tour with amazing tour guides. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in living history.
Very interesting! All members of our family young and old enjoyed it!
Very interesting and informative tour. Great guide who also thru in a bit of humor. Caution:Over 50 steps in one up/down decent.; Uneven walking surface.
Very interesting tour. Incredible to see how mining was done back before unions and when men were REAL men. If youre over 5 6" watch your head!
Great tour! Amber was extremely knowledgeable. I would go again.
If you think that you have had some tough jobs, you will give up that line of thinking after this tour. 1800s miners had to be a seriously determined bunch. Dark, dangerous environment that includes long hours, extremely hard work and the daily risk of death. An eye opening tour into just how soft we have gotten in only 100 years. One of the coolest tours I have been on.
Brandon being our tour guide was fantastic! He was funny, very knowledgeable, and answered any questions we had. Definitely will be back to do it again!
We had a tour of the mine with Brandon who answered all our questions and was a helpful and informative guide during our recent visit. Don’t miss this adventure which takes you deep into the abandoned silver mine from the 1800’s when you’re visiting Tombstone.
We visited Tombstone in March & April 2022. First visit, we had just enough time for a Ghost Tour on the Good Enough Mine Trolley with tour guide George Self. We had such a great time, when we came back through Tombstone a month later, we decided to go on the regular day tour-- and George was our tour guide again! We thoroughly enjoyed both tours-- especially all of the history and extra anecdotes all along the route. George is a master story teller!
Our tour guide Austin did fantastic job. His voice is clear and loud that everyone in the group could hear him well. He is attentive to the whole group and managed the large group with kid, pet, elderly with patience. The contents were fun and easy to follow. Compared with disappointing queen mine tour, I would highly recommend this tour instead.
Fun short tour of the mining caves. Lots of history there. One of three tours available. Tour guide was awesome. Going back for other tour when it opens up. Was a perfect little break from the heat!
Awesome tour with fun facts, an amazing guide & just so historically informative. Best tour Ive ever done & got to be inside of actual history.Truly amazing how far the labor force has come in some respects. I highly recommend this for any adult or kids.
It has to be one of the best underground tours Ive ever taken. Brandon, car guide provided wonderful information made it sound like fun. Is very well spoken and take time to talk to people. His jokes really added to the experience. I would highly recommend this tour anyone let the opportunity to visit Tombstone Arizona
Brandon gave a fantastic tour, complete with plenty of (goodcorny jokes. Its much more authentic than other attractions in town - you walk in the footsteps of miners from the 1800s. Next time Im here Ill try some of their more advanced tours of deeper in the mine.
Incredible experience! If it wasn’t for Brandon(and Amberthis would have received 4.5 stars!! These two go the Xtra mike to ensure An amazing trip! Thank you both! A MUST see! Oh and I cannot forget George and his historic storytelling trolley tour is also aMust—-Book the combo!
We had a fun tour with our guide Brandon. He was so friendly and knowledgeable. We lucked out that day and got a personal tour. We took the 45 minute one. But there are stairs to go down and come back out. Worth it though. A nice 68 degrees in there that is year round. Brandon made it fun! He explained what the miners went through back in the day! Very hard work!
Worth the visit to go underground and see what old miners had to deal with everyday. As for Amber to be your guide.
We had a great time. Our guide was very insightful. It wasnt busy at all but this was in January. Super cool!
Our tour guide Brandon was awesome! We were the last tour of the day so we got lucky to get a private tour. He was very knowledgeable and funny, it truly made our experience enjoyable, we even got more information about upcoming tours that go a bit more in depth of the mine. I think that is awesome especially if you are looking to do a bit more of exploring. Don’t doubt for a minute to check out this tour, it’s a great experience for the entire family.
Great experience! Our guide, Brandon was awesome! I learned more in that one tour than any other I’ve taken. My 66 year old knees made it through just fine and I never once hit my head. Take the tour, just be careful of those low hanging rocks.
Very interesting tour. The guide Amber was wonderful and her passion was shining through. A must see when you visit Tombstone.
While everyone comes here to see the Wild West history, its also neat to see what brought those folks here in the first place - the silver mines. First youll be outfitted with hardhats that way your noggin doesnt get hurt if you bump your head down there (it did happen to a taller guy in our group, thankfully he had the hardhat). Youll also have to go up and down a good flight of stairs so those with mobility issues keep that in mind. The guides are super helpful and very informative - ours was able to answer every single question thrown her way. For those who like to take pictures like me, know that lots of your pictures will either not turn out well or they wont capture much of the scale and colors inside due to poor lighting (obviously). The tours last about 45 minutes to an hour and also is a great escape from the sun and the heat if you go in the summer. Highly recommend!
Amber was our guide and made the experience amazing !It lasted about 45 minutes and we had plenty of time to ask questions. We learned so much!Thank you Amber !!
Awesome experience and Stephanie was a great tour guide!! Looking forward to doing it again with the rest of our family!!
This was one of the best tours Ive ever been on! Very great staff, knows their stuff for sure. Makes it fun for whole family. Its some steep stairs in and out, but its an actual mine so shouldnt be that much of a shocker lol. Amber hats (or maybe helmetsoff to you once again for all your work you put in!
Had such a wonderful experience attending the Good Enough Mine tour. Amber, our mine guide, was absolutely brilliant. She was very knowledgable, enthusiastic, and charismatic. Toby, by far, was the coolest Zebu in Tombstone!!! Would highly recommend attending their tours! 10/10!
A nice little de-tour from the gunfighter events. Great way to learn about miner camp. Stephanie the tour guide did a good job explaining the history and the geology.
Very fun tour in an 1880s underground silver mine. Reasonable price for about a 50 minute tour. Good information about old Tombstone and the people and prospectors who discovered and partially tamed this wild area! Amber was our tour guide and had great information and fun stories about many fun historical people. I highly recommend this tour at To.bstone!
Wonderful, short excursion though a silver mine (that still has lode). Very safe, lots of fun history and geology shared. Definately enjoyed the stop. Stephanie was a great guide! Recommend for an all-around great experience in Tombstone, AZ.
Had the best time with my son. The price is so reasonable and if you get the ticket as a package you can get the bus shuttle ride all through tombstone left Going Underground
Loved the tour! Very knowledgeable tour guide, and very interesting history. I would recommend this place to anyone who is interested in the history of tombstone.
A fantastic tour and one of the better things to do in Tombstone! Amber was our tour guide and she was very knowledgeable about both the geology of the mine itself but also the history of the mining business in tombstone. Not too strenuous at all, but there is a long staircase leading down and leading out. And of course it’s a mine, so lots of ducking for anyone over six feet tall! Also a great way to cool down! Highly recommended.
This is a very worthwhile tour. The facilities are modern and professionally done. Ive been down in a few of the abandoned mines around here, and I can see that this outfit put a lot of effort into ensuring the safety and ease of their visitors. Our tour guide, Amber was very professional, very well versed in the local history and a talented hostess. Im a longtime Tombstone resident so I already know a good bit of the mining history, but I still learned some new facts. The military/veteran discount is much appreciated too. And, their food truck serves the best burger and fries in town. I highly recommend this tour for visitors and locals alike.
The Good Enough Mine Tour takes you down a predestined trail over 100 feet into the historic caverns under Tombstone. Our tour guide was incredibly informative and humorous. He took safety understandably seriously. He discussed everything from the mining process to lifestyles of people in the period. We took the easiest of three tours, we intended to sign up for the other more difficult paths on our next visit.
Amy was our guide and what a great tour we had of the mines. She talked about the rocks, how the silver ore was mined and the conditions the miners worked in. She also mentioned that there were other tours but a bit involving 18+. The tour of good enough mine was not too bad. Most spaces were wide enough where you don’t feel super cramped. There are some low rocks so watch your head. You will need to arrive 15 minutes early to sign in and get your hard hat. Highly recommend this tour.
Great tour. Amber was super nice and had lots of information and history to pass on. Be sure to offer her some water or "elixir " as she was referring to it.
This is an awesome tour. We had a great time. If you want to learn more about Tombstone history besides all the Cowboys and shoot him up stuff this is an awesome tour for you. Our tour guide was fantastic.
Very impressive Mine! George was our guide and was very engaging, and informational. Learned about the process in which silver was mined back in the late 1800s and how it is turned in to the shiny metal we know it as. Would love to do one of the more advanced mine tours.
This was such a cool experience. We got to see the inside of an actual silver mine that was used back in the 1800’s! The lady who sold us the tickets was very nice. Hunter, our tour guide was so informative and also very cool. We learned so much on this tour. Highly recommend!!
For the family: The Good Enough mine tour is a fun and educational trek into an intact silver mine from the days of the wild west. This mine turned out so much silver and manganese that it affected American history. For adults: Take the Toughnut Mine tour, but don’t bring the kids. It’s three hours of climbing through drifts and ladders, but it’s an amazing and well-narrated short adventure. If you bring a handheld UV flashlight with you, expect the mine walls to glow brilliantly.I will definitely tour the Toughnut again next time I’m in the region, and I highly recommend it for anyone that has sufficient physical fitness for some climbing and crawling. I’d also like to go into the Girard Mine, but that’s going to have to wait until next time.
Our tour guides name was Forest, what a great guide to have for this venue.Just as we were to start our tour down into the mine the power went out for all of the lights. Our group had 15 people that decided to go ahead with the tour using 3 flash light and peoples flashlights on their phones. What a great way to tour the mine.Forest was well informed on the history of the mine and shared it with great enthusiasm. Give this guy cudoes and also he is a veteran that deserves to be acknowledged for his service to our country.Again what a great stop on our visit to Tombstone, AZ.Curtis and Dee
On our way to explore Tombstone we discussed why a town would be built in the middle of the dessert. On the tour of the mine we learned that the town was built to support the activities of the silver mines. Escape the heat and take the underground tour packed full of the history of the mines and the legends surrounding Tombstone. Hard hats required, some low passages and uneven paths.
Great tour of what made Tombstone. Forrest, the tour guide, gave us a great tour of the mine and what it was like to work down there. Without giving too much away, the mines where the life blood of the town and without then Tombstone would have never existed, or the history that brings tourist here.
I love the stories that old mines can tell us about the men who worked below ground, their families above and the economics of the time. The new Girard Mine tour (run by the same people who do the Good Enough Mine Tour in Tombstonechecks all these boxes and more.Groups are limited in size (our tour had me and two othersdue to passage through smaller spaces and more delicate areas of the mine such as century old square timbering that we are instructed to be careful not to touch or accidentally hit. The intimate group size creates an element of excitement, comradery and adventure on this tour not seen in the larger mine tours.Andrew was our group’s lead guide. He was accompanied by Robert. Both Andrew and Robert are serious about safety and exploration. Andrew has extensive experience exploring, surveying and rehabilitating abandoned mines and, in between describing the Girard mine, he regaled us with stories of adventures. You definitely get the “expert” element on this tour not someone just repeating a script. The Girard mine itself is impressive: There are massive rooms (stopesthat once contained the valuable ore. We stop and see a miner’s “turntable”--a greased wooden intersection where miners would literally slide the ore cars in whatever direction they needed to go. You can still see grease smudged fingerprints of the miners on the walls. There is also a civil defense stockpile inside the mine from the cold war. The water barrels are still intact and so are the biscuits—apparently they taste so bad that even mice won’t touch them. The Girard tour is not for everyone—you need to be comfortable underground and sure footed because there are a number of areas where you need to be careful not to grab onto anything. I would not recommend this tour for your first time underground. That being said, if you can go on a 2hr hike, then you are physically capable of doing this tour. If you have done a mine tour in the past and are looking to really see the inner workings of these amazing feats of human toughness and ingenuity, then I can’t recommend this tour enough. The Girard mine tour is a truly special experience.
The tour takes about 45-60 minutes and explains the history of the mine, working conditions, and its role in establishing the town of Tombstone. Its an easy tour with around 80 steps down the stairs to reach the heart of the mine, a loop underground and then 80 stairs back up. This is a good place to start your visit to Tombstone, as it is a tour that explains the towns beginning. Tours begin at 10:00 and run every hour on the hour. Worth the price! After the mine, I recommend the stagecoach tour, a stop at the original bar at Big Nose Kates, and a guided tour or ghost tour at the Bird Cage to learn the history of Tombstone.
The best attraction in Tombstone. A guided tour deep underground, you will get a very good sense of what mining meant to this frontier town. Our tour guide, Hunter, was excellent, very knowledgeable and a cool dude. If you only pay for one thing in Tombstone, pay for this. Its $10, and youll never forget it.
The price of admission is nothing when youll get a lifetime of memories from the Good Enough Mine Tour. Go back in time to a place where Gold ruled the west. Learn the history of one of Tombstones most well-known and historic mines.Youll love exploring the mine, learning along the way.Be sure to bring your camera as the views are breathtaking.
