Goobne Chicken - Korean restaurant in Hong Kong, China
Never thought I’d leave a negative review but here it is. Was very excited to try the famous Goobne Chicken but didn’t even step inside the restaurant. Staff was very rude and hostile, lacked communication skills. My friends and I were really disappointed and cancelled our booking. In case if you experience the same attitude at the entrance - there is a nice Korean BBQ place on the 5/F in the same building. That one we really enjoyed:)
Me and my husband went there on sunday.. we ordered the mild spicy chicken with herbs.. on that sunday nightWe were experiencing stomachache until now (thu already).. we only ate that chicken and the chicken pizza on that day until monday.. because we had left over..It was a bad experienced for us..😔😔😔But i really like the original chicken..
Good taste !
the food is good but the service is not satisfactory.
Yummy!
Ordered the takeout (mixed half half chicken and Mediterranean salad.Love their chicken. Always juicy, well seasoned and they managed to also do the breast well without getting really dry. Tender, juicy and full of flavour. But the salad is what i would definitely go back for. It has a lot of goodies (almond flake, shrimp, blood orange, cherry tomato, resin and the dressing is just complimentary to the whole salad)🥗 The salad would balance out some of the guilt of too much protein
The honey garlic boneless chicken is recommended!!
the taste is ok, but I think they use B grade chicken , the bones keep breaking into pieces
The chicken that they serve here is of good quality. Their fried chicken is crispy yet not dry. Combined with a pint of beer? Thats the essence of chimeak.Im not giving 5 stars cuz they messed up our order and have to make us wait another 20 minutes. Luckily we in no rush so its ok.
Goobne is a Korean chicken specialist with a few branches around the city including this place along Nathan Road just south of the Mongkok MTR Station. They are open from 12pm to 12am daily and have a fair sized seating area. You can also order take-away or delivery through deliveroo if you prefer to eat from within the comfort of area offices, homes and hotels.Goobne offers a good range of Korean dishes but best known for their oven roasted chicken (on-the-bone or bonelessserved in a variety of flavours, some of which are spicy and rather hot, Korean style! We much enjoy their boneless Goobne GH12 Volcano Chicken which comes with two sides (radish, rice, salad or soft drink). The chicken is tender and the spicy flavour is very good, a nice change of pace from the more subtle heat level of local Cantonese food and something worth considering if you are missing hotter Korean food.
Nice chicken, nice view, clean environment, staff polite
I was really impressed with their strict health safety management, you were not allowed to take off mask until you are eating and they have a envelope for you to keep your mask inside. I felt like their food was expensive at first but once i managed to get a taste of their food i felt like maybe the price was not that expensive anymore except maybe some drinks.
Satisfied. Chicken is cooked well and crispy. Could be juicier. Customers have significantly reduced due to COVID-19 so there’re no queues at all
Had a lovely lunch date with my girls. 128$ for a lunch set is well-priced, consider its portion. May opt for boneless chicken or with bones. Tried the volcano flavoured chicken but it was not as hot as it has stated. Staff members were all attentive and polite. Minus one star because it was not as spicy as it promised but ain’t nothing much gonna complaint
It was closer to the place where I live than Tsim Sha Tsui Goobne. So I took it out a few times from here. The staff are friendly. But this place is hard to find when you first go, even you are using Google Maps. Delicous but pricey.
Not much ppl in lunch. Price is reasonable and food is fine.
Good variety of flavours for chicken wings, but took time to have our orders served.
I like UFO set here. Excellent cheese chicken and some cups of beer could lift up any mood.
Excellent food and great service
Nice food, nice atmosphere!
unhelpful staff, no food after waiting for over 30 mins in slack hours.Chicken is dry. Much worse than before.NOT recommended:(
Worst ever service. Ordered an egg roll for 45 mins and the waitress told me ot was sold out.
Tasteless chicken. Friendly staff. Over-rated and over-priced.
The breed/quality of chicken they use is not as juicy & meaty-flavor as before
Want some nice cheese and chicken? You cant miss this place! Taste so good!
Best chicken I have had! Well... After my dads! Lol.... The honey and mustard combo is epic! I have been there several timesCheck out "Nutty and Sweet" on YouTube!
Overall service and food was ok. The crispy chicken is a must try! the grapefruit smoothie is also my favorite.
egg roll is very good but a bit expensive
Having lunch there, no much people during lunch hour but still wait for over 15 mins to get someone to place the order. Wait for over 30 mins and still not have the chicken. The table next to me come and order after me had already finished their dishes. Trace for the order, the waiter bring another flavour to me and said they made mistake and ask will I take it. I have no choice but to accept it as its already about time I need to go back to office.
Tbh its way overpriced...we went on a sunday afternoon and cost abt $500 for 2ppl..which is insane..we ordered the egg roll (cokpletely overpricedwas 160? And the new honey chicken for 180...+2 drinks. Lots and lots more option at this pricepoint..wont revisit
Range of fried chicken flavours, the only downside is that all drinks are sugar-loaded.
Goobne is a popular fried chicken brand in Korea. I think the branch in mong Kok provides its authentic taste. I also realized that they have other dishes than chicken. Hence, you can also try some Korean dishes, such as Kimchi soup and kimbap. I think locals also like this place. I could find lots of local families dining in there.
The soy garlic chicken was much better than expected and I highly recommend for people to try this. The sweet and spicy is not bad but the flavors are pretty common so try others instead such as the honey chicken. Non-alcohol drinks were a little expensive as it is priced the same as the alcohol one. Would definitely come back to this place!
Fantastic chicken. Dont forget to get the free radish refill
Great alternative to fried chicken. A little bit pricey, but its pretty unique and overall good food. Would recommend for a small group of friends. Would also recommend if youre from North America since its quite different. Expect ~$200HKD for a chicken that will serve two people, about ~$175 per person including other dishes.
Clean place, nice chicken but pricey. Average of $200+ per person.
Trendy restaurants with a variety of different oven baked chicken. A bit like a Korean version of Nandos. Perfect for anyone who likes chicken. A lot.
One of my favorite chain restaurants. I come here all the time. Buy a whole chicken cut into manageable pieces. Get it covered in the sauce style of your choice. Sweet and spicy is always a good bet. Throw on a plastic glove and go to town. Bring a friend and share. Or dont. They wont judge.
Delicious chicken. The half half special was good as you can try 2 types at the same time. The lunch specials were good value.
Very solid quality baked chicken. Wish they had a nandos type sauce to go with it.
The environment is a pretty chill and relax, you can look outside to the nathan road from the window which is quite special. The service is an above average rating which when you press a button on the table, the waiter will come to the table usually quite quickly depands on how busy the restaurant is. They mainly serve korean styled chicken related dish (mainly taste sweet or spicyand other dishes like salad or sticky dumplings. I tried one chessy honey curry chicken and one spicy fried chicken and I think both of them are well seasoned and tastes quite good. Their beverages are also pretty good!
There were loads of seats when we went in so we were confused why we werent seated earlier. Service was p slow, but other than that food was really good.
Good oven cooked chicken, offering something different to the fried chicken craze thats taken over HK. Seemed a little pricey. And also cheeky that they didnt serve tap water, charging for micro sized water bottles.
I was at Goobne Chicken in Mong Kok with some friends and we just finished our meal so we decided to order some desserts being featured on a poster behind us, our menu and mattresses. After ordering we waited for around 15 minutes and we started suspecting something because weve already waited for so long and we need to be somewhere else. Therefore we called the staff over and ask her when it will be done and she replied saying "Yes thats because these desserts need half an hour to prepare and its written in the menu." We started checking the menu and couldnt find anything about the dessert needing thirty minutes to prepare, so we checked the poster behind us and the mattresses as well, however, nothing was found. Because we really are in a rush to be somewhere we decided to just not eat dessert and pay the bill. We called the staff over again so that we could pay but she refused to give it us as she said "but were making the dessert!" And we asked if we can cancel it as we really need to go. When she refused again we went to the counter to pay but the staff and the person at the counter were already talking about how the dessert is in progress. We tried explaining to them but then they started giving us a long face and unwelcoming looks. We reasoned with them whats wrong and finally they let us pay and cancel the dessert. When we left and they thought we were out of ear shot, they started complaining about us.A side note: when we were reasoning and asked to see where it was actually written, they pointed to a menu on the counter and yet, that note wasnt even printed on the sheet, it was stuck on with tape. We explained how we werent exposed to this menu and how if they were to make this excuse valid, they should put this information on all menus to avoid misunderstanding. Hopefully they will take this feedback in and change the way of service.
Pretty good chicken I must admit, but service is a little slow, especially during meal times, which is disappointing for hungry people, and although they have a bell on the table like most Korean restaurants do, the servers are not very responsive to it.
Service was a bit slow with neighboring tables getting their dishes before us. Surprisingly as there was a 90min dining timing limit. The staff patiently explained that the BBQ chicken we ordered takes a while to roast so we waited. The chicken doesnt disappoint, it is flavorful and tender! Enjoyed it very much. While I didnt order the egg, isnt it expensive for an egg roll to cost 148-168$?
Their fried chicken is to die for. Not ridiculously oily like most places and the spices are great complimentary to the whole chicken! Little disappointed by their cocktail though but just go there for Korea fried chicken!
Excellent baked chicken and loads of it! Highly recommended. 😊😊 Dessert looks good too.
Great baked chicken (not oily compared to usual deep fried chickenwith lots of favor, give a try to curry honey chicken
Good choice if you happen to crave Korean fried chicken in Mong Kok, but place overall is quite regular
