Golson Nature Area - Nature reserve in Bay City, United States
Its good for walking only now there is no pond there anymore looks like it was drained and now its nothing but barren wet lands not many wild animals anymore..... Were did all the water go!? I remember as a kid coming here it was beautiful and we could fish the pond as well now theres nothing.....
We went in a electric wheelchair and bicycle it was wonderful seen deer and ducks and the river
Absolutely love this area.
My girlfriend and I always enjoy walking through the trails here. Theres always lots of ducks, eagle nests, and the occasional deer. The trail is nice and paved and a nice bridge going over the little pond. Last time I was there I was lucky enough to capture 4 deer out eating!
A great place to walk with beautiful scenery and a pond.
Nice little off the beaten path park. Sits on the river but the river is not really the charm of this park. Its boat dock and parking for boats looks plentiful though.
Wide open space. Beautiful park.
I simply cant believe this perfect park isnt talked about more often! It has a gorgeous, well kept paved trail and a well kept mulched trail in a well established wooded area. There are eagles nesting, cranes fishing and deer often can be seen! I walk here year round with my dogs and recommend it to people allll the time. It also has a breathtaking views of the Saginaw River! Great hidden gem in the city!
Beautiful park! Always enjoy walking my pups here! You never know what kind of wildlife you will encounter!
Nice little nature area. If you make a figure 8 on the trails, you can make it a mile. Lots of shade. Lots of wildlife - songbirds, eagles, ducks, egrets, herons, deer, frogs, turtles...just a sweet little trail by the water.
Where it feels good to relax, check out wildlife, have seen deer here too
Its beautiful and peaceful
We chose this location for our wedding day. We couldnt have asked for better weather or a more perfect location.
Nature in the city
Yesterday i married the girl of my dreams here. Its such a beautiful place. Its super affordable.
IT IS RIGHT BY OUR HOUSE. IT IS NICE FOR EVENING WALKS. 5 STARS.
Lovely little trail much worth the stop.
Awesome place for bike rides, walks, fishing eagle watching and my daughter loves catching frogs!
Nice nature area lots of awesome trails very spacious.
Great place to walk and see wildlife
Love to take my dogs for a walk thru the trails!
We LOVE to take small nature walks and see the eagles nest & ducks here. It is small so for me personally its perfect
Good place to fish and quiet nature trails for spotting local wildlife. Bald eagles nest is a must see.
This is one of the most magical little spots in the Saginaw Bay Area. There is a pair of nesting bald eagles that reside here, and currently their fledglings are learning to hunt and how to be a bald eagle. In the early summer the wetlands are filled with giant tadpoles, that attract snowy egrets who love the buffet. The snowy egrets feed from here quite often, and Ive captured pictures of them eating whole bullfrogs. There is also a group of woodchucks that live here, along with ducks, and other wetland animals. Truly a gem in the heart of the city, behind a GM factory.
Nice quiet place to take an easy walk or to sit and think. Usually very few people around.
This is a perfect rustic park with an array of wild animal life.
Beautiful place.
If youre lucky you can see the eagles that nest there
Great place for a walk.
Nice place usually flooded
Nice trail to walk!
My rating may seem low, but its dependent on several factors. The Nature Area itself isnt very spectacular, though it is a nice, quiet way of relaxing. The paths use to be more extensive, however a portion of the area was designated as a Bald Eagle nesting area, and that part is now off limits. I do not own a boat, nor do I fish, so I really dont feel comfortable rating that area. Next to the boat launch itself is a large viewing area, with a pavilion. There are restroom facilities (the portable typeavailable. Access to the paths is made from a couple of spots along N. Johnson Street. The location is actually nice for observing activity on the river, such as ships passing by, or the nearby Independence Bridge. I visited this site during the 2010 Parade of Sail, for the Tall Ship Celebration that year. This allowed some nice, close photographs of the ships as they passed by, as well as views of them passing through the Independence Bridge. During the winter months I would not think there would be much to do, other than having easy access for ice fishermen. On my last visit, I did run across a couple of large furry creatures scurrying in front of me on one of the paths. Im not sure what they were - but Im guessing either groundhogs or beavers (they were brownish, rather chubby, and about 1-2 feet long. Those are the only wildlife Ive personally noticed in that area.
Beautiful in the Fall!
A nice and relaxing place to visit. The view is worth going to see if youre in the area.
Its not much, but its an escape.
Beautiful.
