Traditional Chinese cuisine, from hand-pulled noodles to hot Sichuan entrees, in simple surrounds.
Dont go at dinner time with more than 4 people, order as theyre food is very good. There is a problem though...they said to phone for reservations (not stated on their website...there was a man sleeping with his head on table and there were tables available in their bigger room for more than 4 people). I felt like crying, Im a nice person who is a foodie and know their reputation for great food... but felt they didnt want us there. A blank stare appeared to be racism and ageism possibly on their part...I felt like a nothing and will not come back to eat.
The pros : good communication and good service , food is fast .Cons : too much spicy but this is on our ! You can ask them to lower the levels of spicy 🥵The tofu and preserved eggs dish has a strange flavour ( not our tastes)Overall good experience with good friendly Servives! We will come back and try the rest of the menu .
Ive craved Liang-pi (cold noodleand hand-pulled noodles ever since I was introduced to a restaurant serving Xian cuisine in Edmonton, and wondered if Id find this food again closer to home. Fortunately, a coworker told me about the Golden Loong Restaurant! My boyfriend and I ordered the Spicy Pork Hand-Ripped Noodle (Xian Style—my favourite), Cold Noodle (Xian Style), and Shredded Cucumber with Chili Sauce. Everything was delicious and had an enjoyable heat that builds over the course of the meal. The large portions also made the dishes great for sharing.
After I moved back home from Beijing I thought I would never find a restaurant in the prairies serving authentic Xian and Sechuan cuisine. Golden Loong makes me so happy. When I ate thier Cold Noodle for the first time I almost cried tears of joy.Every time we go we get Cold Noodle and another dish. Every single dish Ive had from Golden Loong is fantastic. The Stir fried Lamb with Cumin noodle dish really warmed me up on a rainy day. The Beef and Cucumber dish is a little sweet and a little spicy, and the left overs were wonderful for lunch the next day.The prices are very good and the portions are generous. If you havent eaten at Golden Loong before you should be aware that the dishes are served for the whole table, and not just an entrée for you, so its a lot of food!If I could give Golden Loong 10 out of 5 stars I would. I absolutely love it.
Authentic, amazing, delicious northern Chinese food. Loved the homemade wide noodles. The brisket and tofu was great. If you want the real deal, go here!
It took me and my partner a while to sift through the numerous Chinese restaurant in Winnipeg, but when we saw the menu and reviews of the Golden Loong, we knew we struck gold. From the hand pulled noodles to the beef in chili oil, to the cucumber and garlic salad, we finally found the food we craved since our stay in Beijing 5 yrs ago! Thank you for the great service and the awesome meals guys.We went 2 nights in a row.
Great authentic food.We lived in beijing for one year and we were missing the chinese food. It is hard sometimes to find chinese restaurants that serve non-western chinese food but this place was amazing.Great chinese hand pulled noodles and chili oil. Smashed cucumber salad and large chili-oil dishes to share with rice. All our favorites! Felt like we were back in a restaurant in China.
The food here is definitely worth a try if youre craving Chinese
Amazing Chinese food! I love how there are sections for different provinces/regions. We got to taste a lot of food we have not had since being in China. I wish there are more locations.
Authentic Chinese restaurant - just as good as Sunfortune but has limited vegetarian dishes and generally has a smaller menu. Either way, the noodle we tried was super freshly made and delicious. We ordered bokchoi dish and mapo tofu with rice. Price was reasonable and portion size is big! Highly recommend.
Awesome service, great food very good prices. Couldn’t ask for much more.
So good. So good. What a hidden gem. Came across this through Google Maps Latest updates features, and was intrigued by this.Stopped by to try it and I am so happy I did. Everything was delicious. This is the real deal, if you’re looking for something authentic from China. We ordered the fried green beans and the fried chicken in wok. The green beans satisfied my craving for green beans and the Sichuan spice was so nice. The fried chicken was deliciously crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, classic Chinese style. They also gave us free tauhuey, 豆花(dou hua), tofu dessert — whatever you wanna call it, this is the real deal. I have been missing tau huey for so long and haven’t been able to find a real substitution in Canada for my $1 bowls I used to get at the hawker centre, and this hits the spot. It’s smooth, soft, sweet, light and the texture is pure. Will be coming here again and recommending it to everyone I know.
Spicy, delicious food, I’ve been coming here since 2014 always order wide noodles with pork, deep fried green beans, fish fillet in chilli oil, incredible food! My favourite 😊👍🏻
An authentic northern Chinese cuisine in Winnipeg, delicious! most of the menu are quite spicy. Even me that can eat spicy, found it a little over the top for its spiciness. Some recommendations:1. Noodle of Stir Fried-Lamb with Cumin.2. Fish fillet soup3. And many others that I cant remember4. Xi-an hand-pulled noodles (cold /hot)Service can be improved, but it was a long time ago when I came. I have been doing order for pick up since 2019 pandemic. I will update on service whenever dine-in is open again. Its a little pricey, but you get what you pay for this type of resto and cuisine quality.UPDATE: They also have Sichuan, Xi-an and other central Chinese cuisine that is rare in this province. You have to go to the west coast (BCto find this type of cuisine. I have tried:1. Deep fried green bean2. Fish fillet w/ pickled vegetable in sour broth3. Cold dish: Tofu w/ preserved eggs (on the picture)4. Cold dish: Gluten w/ chili sauce5. Mapo Tofu
It was okay. A little overpriced and underwhelming with the spicy pork soup. Suggest the spicy pork stir fry as it’s quite good (at least for me). Service really good! No free wifi, just Shaw go
Literally the best authentic Chinese food in Winnipeg! Like wow! Ill definitely be back. Its a long drive, but sure worth it!
Ordered ribs, pork hand pulled noodles, vegetarian hand pulled noodles and deep fried crab legs. The crab were mostly shell with minimum meat and ribs were 90% bone. Delicious noodles and flavour combination nonetheless.
Spicey pork noodles are a must try. This place is amazing. We stumbled on this place randomly in 2017 and love it. Most authentic chinese food hidden away.
This restaurant is such a hidden gem on Pembina! We have been coming here for years! The food here is extremely authentic, very spicy and very delicious. The portions are generous and the prices are pretty fair. It is a definite must try, if you havent yet! The noodles here are hand ripped and homemade and boy are they delicious! Every dish we have tried here has become our favourite!
One of the most authentic northern Chinese cuisines. If you love spicy and chili oil this is your spot. You’ll see dishes here not served anywhere else in Wpg- hand pulled noodles made in house is a popular one. #3 is a must! Would recommend!
This place has the best hand pulled noodles in Winnipeg. Extremely flavorful and delicious! Make sure to get the cold noodles, the chili oil noodles and fried green beans. Ive tried other dishes here as well and literally everything Ive had here turned out delicious.
The oil splashed noodles were very tasty but also very spicy. It made me sick for over a day. Almost all of the items on the menu are spicy so don’t come here if you don’t like spicy food. I really enjoyed the eggplant dish with rice. It is mildly spicy and the portion is big so an order of that can feed two.
come every time when im craving for spicy Chinese food. great restaurant!
The moment we walked in the smell of cumin was so distinct and warming, my mouth started watering and I couldnt wait to try the food. Everything we had here was deeply satisfying and crave worthy. Cant wait to go back for the noodles though, weve never had anything quite like these noodles before. Its very, very good.
Always amazing. Huge portions account for slightly high price per dish but the value is very good. Perfect place for 5 to 8 diners sharing/sampling multiple dishes. Everything is worth trying but standouts for me include hand ripped noodles with spicy pork and the eggplant dish. Service is polite and attentive food has always come out quickly. Absolutely among my favorite Chinese restaurants in Winnipeg
Always must have the #2 cold noodles and #3 hot noodles. All noodle dishes have fresh, hand pulled noodles that take the dishes to the next level. Most dishes are fairly spicy, although some milder options are also available on the menu. Staff are friendly and helpful. Great comfort food.
Delicious, very authentic and so full of flavour. The hand pulled noodles were delicious and the selection on the menu is huge, everything from beef and pork to tripe, hearts and intestines! Those who love authentic spicy szechuan Chinese food will be in heaven. Portions are huge and good for sharing. Cant wait to go back and try more!
If you like noodles and like spicey dishes - excellence will be found here 🤤
Great big, fat, hand pulled noodles..in fantastic broth. If you like spicy shrimp, yummy. Receipts are in Chinese, literally. If you arent Asian they will tell you that. I say so what?! Great food.
I love their food, I wish I could get a vip card or something like that from them. Every single dish is seasoned and good portioned, I love there so much that I even wanted to move to one of the apartments behind it.
Its been a while. And its still tasty as hell. If you are craving a nice spice dish. You gotta eat here
The hand pulled noodles are amazing. I could eat just that dish forever, and with the portion sizes I usually eat them for 2 or 3 meals. Veggies are well cooked and I havent had a dish I dont like here.
The hand pulled noodles are phenomenal here as well as the deep fried green beans. The other dishes that we had (beef brisket noodle soupand the chicken curry stirfry were mediocre
Initial reviewMy sister is from Northern China. She said its got some xi an food, but its a bit of an amalgamation of the North (so not all of it is)They have an extensive menu with lots of options. The 2 of us settled on 3 dishesThey had deep fried frog legs, a beef stew with tofu and the hand pulled noodles.I defintely would get the frog legs again. They were done perfectly. The beef and tofu in the stew were great but I found the size a little thick on the cornstarch. The hand pulled noodles were ok. We didnt like the sauce as much. Ours tasted a bit off.I thought the prices were a little high until we received the food. The portions are ridiculously huge. We made a very small dent in the food we ordered. It looked like we barely touched it.Service was ok.Parking is fine with a decent sized lot that they share with other stores.
Overall, very authentic Chinese dining experience, but lackluster service and an unexpected menu made this dinner a bit tough to enjoy.Pros:- Very authentic Chinese menu, if you want stir fry and noodles, you got it.Cons:- While authentic, the menu was severely limited, with variations of the same dishes taking up the majority of the menu.- The menu is quite hard to understand at times (which is expected, to a degree), harder than it should be.- We were visited three times in total, once to get us the menus, once to take our order, and once to bring us the food. Thats it. They never asked if we needed anything, nor checked if we needed the bill or a takeout. Its good, but you should know what youre expecting. If youre going for a "western classics/favorites" type of Chinese meal (chicken balls, lemon chicken, veggies, etc.), you wont get that here, you will only get spicy noodles or variations of that.
I’ve been there a few times and food is good. Today I picked up some dishes with soup from the restaurant, but the soup container was not covered propoerly. The plastic bag was very thin. They ended up spreading all over my car carpet. Ruined my evening.
Wonderful authentic Chinese food. Mostly Sichuan (sp?dishes with delicious savoury spice. For the spicy food lover its a must try. Come in and warm yourself up with the Spicy Eggplant or the Oil Splashed Noodles.
Great traditional Chinese cuisine! Although not what you would expect. Your not going to get any sweet and sour dishes here, its in house noodle dishes and a variety of peppery style entrees. Great choice is your into authentic Chinese food!
Authentic food from the Xi’an region. Highly recommended if you are looking for authentic Chinese food in Winnipeg. Moderate prices and easy to understand menu. This restaurant is not licensed. The only negative experience I had was my visit to the washroom.
Well.. we ordered 3 dishes...and it was really bad there were too much salt and seasonings. Bad service.. waste of money
Service is fast. Cold noodle, gluten in chili sauce and pork burger taste close to authentic Xi’an cuisine. Other dishes are tasty too.
They have delicious xian liang pi that always bring customers back. Spicy but so satisfying for anyone looking for something authentic
Ive likely been here about a dozen times. The food that the ladies in the kitchen at Golden Loong pump out is nothing short of delicious. The noodles are hand pulled, and everything else is made from scratch too.It certainly isnt beginner level Chinese food.Lots of great spicy seafood dishes, noodle dishes, stews, fish, and stir fries. All in all, really good Northern Chinese food.
This is a restaurant with a flavor much close to that of North-Western China.
Golden Loong offers authentic xian cuisine and their xian cold noodles is a must try. No other restaurant in town is even close to the Quality they offer. 5 stars no brainer.
The wide noodles were phenomenal. I enjoyed them more than the same dish I had in Xian earlier this year.
Amazing! Probably the best and most authentic Xian Chinese food in all of Winnipeg.Ive seen a lot of negative reviews about the service and the ambience. This is NOT the reason to go to this restaurant. If thats what youre looking for, go elsewhere. If you want Spicy, amazing and authentic Chinese food, come here.
We have had the opportunity to eat at Golden Loong three times. We find the menu confusing and the service (limited englishcould not help us much. We ended up ordering a spicy dinner every time. We want to like this quirky restaurant but it is hard to. If you get an opportunity to eat here and properly navigate their menu, order their specialty hand pulled noodles. The noodles are worth it. If you dont like spicy food, ask the service to recommend a not so spicy noodle dish. The soup noodle is very good. The basic description of oil splashed noodle dish was very spicy. The iron wok chicken is also a favorite of ours. The service was good even with her limited english skills. The decor is tacky Asian with uncomfortable chairs. Licensed. Lots of parking available. Barrier free access.
Drive more than a 1hour only to be greeted at the for by a front line safe that think I should be privileged by walking in the door. The food is on average 16 to $18 per plate. The service is next to none they take your order and dont ever come back to the table to see how the food is. I love the pepper chicken and a rice cake dish . The last straw was tonight when they gave me the takeout containers to Pac my own food . Well needless to say I ended u wearing one of the dishes . I could see if it was buzzy but all the servers were doing is talking around the cash register. Will I go back nope . Will I recommend this restaurants never again.
Very authentic Chinese restaurant. Large portion and fast service. Delicious foods but the menu should have pictures to help poor translation. I choose a dish and cross my finger that it is not something weird. So far so good!
