Cozy British nook for ales, piano sing-alongs & classic pub fare, in the legendary Broadmoor resort.
They put on a big show about not having a reservation even though the pllace was empty. Food was ok. Carved wood was beautiful. Having bees thrown at us was a surprise but fun. Been there, done that. Probably wont go again.
My mother and I had a delightful lunch here today. Food was absolutely delicious and our server Jervis was attentive, pleasant and held a wonderful calm presence. He was apart of making this such a special event for us. Thank you Jervis & team! Well done will be back.
This place is a blast! Every USAFA Cadet, it seems, makes a visit here at least once during their four years, and chugs down a yard of brew. It is especially great when they have the piano man playing. Yep - I said it - man.
I had drinks with some with friends at The Golden Bee. I met them and some other people there on Saturday. Once the the waitress Jennifer took my order, I gave her my card to start a tab ,thinking I was going to have a couple, so leave it open. After more friends arrived throughout the next hour, all having drinks, I was handed my card back randomly and it was ran for the entire tables order. Not only was it unexpected, but I was never given an itemized bill or asked if I was covering the tab. On top of that they were trying to move us out by 7 for a reservation due to all the weddings going on that night, so no time to trying and figure out the situation. Meanwhile our waitress Jennifer conveniently disappeared. After calling Monday about the fiasco that happened and talking to the manager Joel, all I was offered was an apology telling me he could then run my card again and let the other charge "fall off". I understand there will be things like gratuity added on, but to charge someone a large sum of money, and then only explain how they have to cover their costs, is bad business and customer service. I was not offered a refund of gratuity, only a removal of drink that I was charged for extra after explaining my girlfriend couldnt have the ingredients (that werent listed in the description). Shame on the Golden Bee for not putting the customer first, offer to make it right and using corporate jargon to save face. Spend your money at nicer places with better service and more reasonable drinks.
I had lunch with a friend this past weekend. Neither the food nor the service was exceptional and certainly not what I would have expected from the Broadmoor. We were not asked whether we had any food allergies or celebrating a special occasion. We also had to wait 30 minutes for our coffee after lunch. A 20% gratuity was added to the bill for a mediocre meal and service. I would have left a gratuity, but not a 20% gratuity as the service did not warrant that.
This place is a staple. Everyone seems to know of the Bee. When you are at your table you will have bee’s thrown on you. Don’t worry they are not real! Staff is great!
Will not be returning to what was once an awesome experience. Our server was very very slow to help us, 10 minutes for drink order to be placed, 10 more minutes for cheese and crackers at the table (had to ask a different server to help), and then 30 minutes after drink order before we got our beers. This followed by a flavorless $20+ burger and an automatic 20% service charge had me pretty bummed out that I spent the time and money coming here… I expressed my concern about the burger and the wait time and was given a simple “sorry… hope you enjoy the rest of your night”I recommend coming here only for drinks, as the staff and food was far below my expectations. Especially for the Broadmoor.
The older hostess lady who took my name and phone number did not add us to the waitlist. I didnt even get an initial text confirming. As we sat down to wait, I saw 3 ladies come in and the younger hostess told them that they were booked and they might need to wait a while for a table because they didnt have reservations. Although, within minutes a waiter came and took them to a table. I was appalled and felt stupid sitting there waiting for our turn. There was another couple who got skipped. What kind of business do you run? Do you discriminate people for the way they look? We are visiting from Houston, TX, where we have so much to choose from and when we travel we like to try local places. Not only that, but we were referred by a family who had lunch there today, that makes it even worse. As I write this review, we left the restaurant with disgust and I will make sure that people are made aware of your treatment and how you selectively choose your clients.
The rooftop patio provides a welcome alternative to the Bees traditional pub atmosphere. Its still my favorite place - 30 years after my first visit.
We tried their 1/2-yard beer. It is so good! It is my friend’s birthday. We received a birthday bee! Fish and chips are so good! Everything there meets our expectations!
The food was delicious . Our server, Linh, was spectacular. We loved the bee stickers🐝😝. She was very personable, and we never had to ask for refills. She timed our apps, entrees and dessert so that we never felt rushed. Josh, the bartender, made us the best Irish coffees ever. I highly recommend this restaurant. We’ll definitely be back when we return to Colorado Springs.
Love it....I am a scotch drinker and they had an 18 year McCalland scotch which combined with the excellent foot was worth it! Also great singing and piano.
We had so much fun. The pretzel was enormous and so good. My hamburger was the best I ever had.You have to go.
I loved it the chicken pot pie was great also idk why but my brain was just like that’s a nice bathroom plus we had a great waiter he was nice and polite plus he called me sir which made me very happy that’s all
We found this location on the backside of the Broadmoor Hotel complex. Very interesting Irish pub decor, including a piano player. Fish & chips was very good.Ice cold adult beverages. It is a little on the pricey which includes a 20% service charge that they make you aware of.. Service & staff were excellant.
Very cool place with a great atmosphere. A great place to hang out and take in a couple pints. The fish and chips were good.
Great food and atmosphere at the Golden Bee. When you are there, you will be lucky and get a "bee" thrown on you (for good luck, spirits and time). Clare was our waitress, so sweet and gave us great service. Order the fish & chips, but everything is delicious.
Great ambiance, amazing and attentive staff… the Fish and Chips is definitely NOT good. Otherwise a 4 star for everything else.
Dodgy restaurant trying to be a UK pub. Overpriced food, nicely presented. We payed nearly $100 for a beer, glass of wine and two main course lunches. This includes the outrageous and mandatory 20% overhead on the bill. Even worse, as a beer drinker I have never seen a worst offering of brews. Obviously chosen by a clueless manager.
Like having bees thrown at you in an old fashioned style restaurant with some of the best food in Colorado Springs? Then this is the place to be! The only flaw was an uncontrollable one: I had to sit next to a table of 16 with 8 being screaming toddlers/babies
The history and ambience are great. The sing alongs and service are top notch
The majority of these stars come from the service. We dined at The Golden Bee on June 19th at around 3pm so the pub was almost completely empty, which we liked. The waiters (we arrived during a shift changewere super attentive and even found a set of readers for my mother to be able to read the menu. If you want a preview of the type of service you would get at the main hotel, the pub is a great preview. The food however…I am not sure if the menu is from the 1800’s or if it is just supposed to mimic the kind of pub food you would have had back when the Broadmoor was new, but the taste was quite dated. Nothing we ordered was particularly great and some of our food was just straight up bad (I had a burnt catfish fillet). And for the price, you expect to be wowed. However, the manager did replace the catfish and our drinks were strong so overall we had a good time. And if you are a history buff, the decor is a fun trip back. I especially loved the restroom wallpaper and tile.
We went to the restaurant to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. It was a perfect spot. Prior to going in for our reservation, we took a short stroll through the hotel. It was beautiful and treat to enjoy. Our table was ready right on time. My husband had the mussels, which he said were fantastic. i had the short ribs. Fabulous! We had a fun time with the yard of beer. We had no idea what that was. Hubby just thought he was ordering a large beer. Thats an understatement. Its a yard-long beer! As we had hoped, the piano player started playing ragtime music and shortly after the sing-alongs started. It was so much fun. Food, service, music all perfect. On top of it all, we were comped a dessert for our anniversary. Like all the food, is was excellent!
This a great spot for wonderful food and service. We were lucky enough to have Kaylee as our server and she went above and beyond to make my birthday dinner special. I had the mussels, French onion soup and the shrimp. All so good! The upstairs patio is awesome with beautiful flowers planted all around. 5/5 recommend!
The absolute best fish and chips that I have had in a very long time. Best pub atmosphere and we sang along with the live piano gal. Definitely a must in CO Springs.
Absolutely loved this place. Cool decor and background? Check. Amazing food? Check. Attentive service? You bet. I was already contemplating my next visit 2 bites into my entrée. This is a must try restaurant in the Springs.
Special Restaurant with delicious food!We had lunch at the Golden Bee on a Saturday afternoon and what a treat!First, they have a very fun tradition with bees, wait for it! Then they put down a tasty cheese spread with crackers which we all enjoyed.I split a hamburger with my daughter, they brought it out, perfectly cooked, on 2 plates with enough crispy fries for the 2 of us. It was one of the best burgers Ive had in a long tine! My parents got the French Onion Soup with they both said was delicious. The cheese and onions were flavorful. We appreciated the old-school, English club ambiance with the art and decor.Make sure to get reservations! It is pricey but this restaurant is worth it!
Excellent experience! The shrimp and grits was fabulous!
We had 6 people in our party and all of us said the food was absolutely horrible. All of us had a different meal. We had to ask the waitress to clean up the appetizers as the meals were being deliveredI order the burger with the cooked onions on the side the burger came out with onions on the burger and I asked for a new burger/ BURGER WAS BROUGHT BACK OUT AND WAITER SAID THEY COOKED A NEW ONE. I looked at the bottom of the burger and onions were still stuck on it. They said they cooked a new one but they scraped off onions on the same burger . We will never go back
We stopped by here because it’s a must-do while in Colorado Springs. We wanted to get one of the bees they throw and try out their menu. The atmosphere was really cool. Their food was tasty and nicely presented. The staff was courteous and very helpful.Of note… they have gluten free options and also prepare fried foods in separate oils for those with shellfish allergies.
Wonderful service, exceptional food and guess what? Little bees on our shirts that we wore with pride!Make a reservation and go. Loved the fish and chips and giant twisted pretzel, plus the pub dip was bonus. Highly recommend!
Im sure the locals know this place but it was our first time. Lots of good fun here. Old style pub type of restaurant great food and great servers. Everyone was friendly and attentive to our table. If you are there at 9pm they have a sing along. We had the bangers and mash, chicken pot pie stuffed with lots of chicken and beef short ribs that were very tender. It is a bit pricey but its worth it. We had a blast you will too!
Service- impeccableAmbiance - pub like and loud but very fun. The decor is very well done so you feel immersed when you are seated.Food- two at our table had lamb shepherds pie and it was delicious. The protion seems small but it was filling. Another at our table had Bangers and mash and he loved it. We had the pretzel as an appetizer. It was huge and soft and the accompanying dip was very flavorful. Not your run of the mill mustard or cheese. At 9pm every night they have sing-a-longs. Its quite loud and very much like karaoke. So just be aware.I cant wait to eat there again!
The Golden Bee is always a good time! We came on a Friday right around the start of the song along and had a great time once again! The food is good, not amazing. The staff is awesome. The piano is also great and sing along time is always fun.Looking for a good time or a full yard of beer? Come to the Golden Bee at the Broadmoor!
Very limited menu and overpriced for what is offered. Service was good and atmosphere was nice. Would not recommend however due to the above factors.
I WANT to love this place! I keep going back for the atmosphere, drinks, music and all around classy vintage bar feel..but..the most recent visit for my birthday the service was subpar, piano guy needs some updating, decor is looking dingy not vintage. I still had a great time but was slightly disappointed. Food was still excellent-got giant pretzel, mussels, fish and chips.
This is my favorite bar in town. Its a traditional English pub, with bar dating back to the 1800s. The woodwork is beautiful, and drinks are excellent (try the "God Save the Bee" or "Honey Bee Mule"). Of course a 1/2 yard of beer is always nice too. Whenever you go, be sure you are there for the piano playing and singalong. The crowd is always happy, fun, and singing their all. This particular visit, we got drinks and dessert. We had the Boston Cream Pie, Sticky Toffee Pudding, and Bread & Butter Pudding (see pics). The Boston Cream Pie was dry (somehow?and disappointing, but the puddings were both moist, flavorful, and fun - as they should be. Between the two, we liked the Bread & Butter Pudding better but both were great.
This is a very special place, deserving of a story. We drove by the Bee when entering the Broadmoor, and noticed it was a cute pub-like spot set tucked down a bit from the street, but otherwise a place we didnt really give a second thought to. We got comfortable at the hotel, and when my family was ready for dinner, we looked for whatever restaurant had an open reservation, and it ended up that was the Bee.We walked down to the restaurant and were seated right away. The place already had atmosphere - very lively, bustling, smallish, but not too small, and wood accents. Our waitress promptly greeted us and asked if she could throw bees at us. WUH?! Well, this is the cutest little gesture that I wont give away, but you just have to experience it when youre there. Trust me.Our particular table had a view of an empty piano, which I thought was just for decoration. Boy was I wrong! Within about 5 minutes, out came a pianist who tickled those ivories better than any Ive seen. He took requests from my 10 year old, and was happy to accommodate. The Saturday night we were there a couple happened to get engaged. Their entire family joined together, arm in arm, right in the middle of the restaurant, while the pianist announced their engagement and played "Thats Amore". It was an amazing, touching moment. The food and service were great, the atmosphere lively, and overall, just a place thats entirely unforgettable.I hope my two boys always keep memories of the Golden Bee, and someday theyll be the ones getting engaged in this special spot where we can lock arms and celebrate.
Had a tasty lunch at the Golden bee. Their French onion soup was wonderful. All the flavors explode when you take a taste!!Topped it off with a cast iron warm chocolate cookie. It was wonderful!!
BEEEEES! And Honey rum!?!?! This place is officially my happy place. They bee their customers with little bee stickers. The drinks taste of honey and if it’s your birthday, TELL THEM! They will throw a special “birthday bee” and it will make your day! Easily the grandest experience I’ve ever had in a pub or dinning setting.
Can get very busy...but the service Ive had there on three separate occasions was fantastic! The was food superb (especially one of my favorites: French Onion Soup!), and the beers go down with gusto. It provides a unique experience at the Broadmoor that cant be found elsewhere in Colorado Springs. Its an old English Pub.Id highly recommend stopping by for a pint, or for the brave amount is, a yard of beer. It doesnt disappoint.
Great little Irish pub. High recommend the fish & chips. My wife got the rueben sandwich which was also good. The bee stickers they throw on you are a nice touch. Also try the yard of beer!
Must experience in Colorado Springs! After a very long day of travel, setting up a conference room and general rental car mayhem, my team headed to the Golden Bee on a recommendation. We were pleasantly surprised by the rich decor, sticky bees, and delicious food. I highly recommend for a dinner out among friends!
This is always a staple of my visits to Colorado Springs. The interior is beautiful, The food is delectable, and the drinks are strong. If youre looking for a classy place with a traditional British pub feel, you cant go wrong here.
We had a great time! Got bees thrown on us which is a tradition there. Dont worry, theyre not real bees. Had the classic rueben which was outstanding. Also had the shrimp and grits which was also great. Had some local brews and some beer cheese! Made for a perfect lunch!
Went to visit with some local friends and was very happy to find this British Pub in the middle of Colorado. The story is they shipped materials from the British Isles to build this lovely location. Worth it to check the place out. I got the fish and chips and the wife got the bison burger which were excellent! The beer selection was great too!
Great ambiance and fantastic food! I got the bangers and mash, my wife got the fish and chips, and both were incredible. The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and inviting, the perfect place for a nice dinner date. I highly recommend stopping by The Golden Bee!
Cool vibe with old decorations and decor. Staff was really friendly and food came out quickly. Can’t say the food was worth the price, but the atmosphere was nice and worth checking out. Careful, the yardstick beers can be tricky...
We had a great time! They had excellent cocktails and local beer and wonderful food. We had the Buddha Bowl and it was amazing - the veggies were so fresh and perfectly cooked. They took great care of us and the piano sing-along was a ton of fun.
Great pub just outside the grounds of the Broadmoor. Service is good , The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.Had the loaded French Fires with the smoked chicken. Plenty for sharing. They bar is well stocked and the limited beer selection is still good. Some evenings they have a piano player and some house entertainment.(check the schedule)
